[INDONESIA] LG G3 Indonesian users - G3 General

This thread is for country specific issues and discussions that would get lost in the general forum.

And I start with the first topic relevant to us:
Since last Monday Telkomsel is commercially offering LTE in Bali and Jakarta. I got myself a new LTE SIM card on day one and was heavily disappointed.
The first issue is that my phone bought from LG Indonesia is not able to get the LTE signal without rooting it. This is not a problem for me but for many other users it will be I guess. The culprit is the lteconfig.apk that doesn't recognize an Indonesian USIM.
Thank you LG Indonesia...
In order to connect to the 4G signal from Telkomsel we have to either delete or rename the 2 files lteconfig.apk and lteconfig.odex in the system folder using a root enabled file manager.
But the joy of finally seeing the 4G icon in the notification bar will not last very long...
The first thing I did was understandably a speed test and to my big surprise I couldn't get more the 0.5 mbit up and download speed. Over the last 4 days I repeated the speed test many times and the maximum I've ever seen was 0.67 mbit...
Shame on you Telkomsel!

My second topic is about the high temperature problem in our country. As we know the LG G3 throttles CPU speed when reaching high temperatures. The problem is that the first step of throttling is defined at 60 degrees Celsius. My phone reaches this temperature after not even ten seconds with screen on and without doing anything. This happens outdoors at least, in an air-conditioned room it takes more time.
The second step down follows at 70 degrees and this level is usually reached by simply opening an email. When reaching this second level of heat the phone throttles down to 900 MHz from the initial 2.5 GHz. Looking at the various CPU steps with an app that shows them my phone is basically using only 2 speed levels for about 90% of its uptime: 300 MHz when not in use and 900 MHz when using it. The full 2.5 GHz speed appears only at 2%.
This basically means that this power house phone is running slower then any entry level phone you can buy today...
The solution is again to root the phone.
There is a thread here on XDA from a kind user who modified the thermal throttling file with higher values which really helps

1st of all i dont think its necessary for every country to make a subforum, or we will have 180 country subforum.
But now that its here, lets put it in good use.
You can activate 4g for nonroot user by hidden menu. 3845#*855# >lte >rat selection> lte only or lte/wcdma or whatever suits you.
It should work, though i have not tested it. Im always rooted so i just delete the apk.
It took me 3hours after i activated the new sim until i can connect to LTE networks, so be patient after you switch your sim.
Edit1: using firmware version 20D LTE on telkomsel automatically detected.
Edit2: using firmware version 20E-ESA (meant for indonesia and some other country) LTE on telkomsel automatically detected.
For coverage, you can see it from telkomsel website.
I downloaded more than 350MB(a rom and gapps) while waiting on traffic light at trunojoyo, in front of PLN building, and still have more time before the lights turn green.
I gotta say, its FAST. over 4MBps(4 Mega BYTES per second) yes i know the difference between bits and bytes and i mean bytes. Or if you prefer bits that makes 32Mbps.
But as you move away from center of coverage it slows down, happens in all wireless networks, wifi does that too, mind you.

I have the screen capture on my other phone, will update when i get home.
Every new tech takes time to mature. If you want stable LTE then keep using it until the company feels the need to provide it stable, to justify all the money they put investing on LTE networks.

Looks like you are in Jakarta and LTE is working there as advertised. At least there is some hope... ☺
I forgot to clarify that I'm in Bali and the speed tests I did where all in good coverage area. I even tested at the Graparis, the only places in their map that declare indoor reception and it was actually there that I got the max speed of 0.67 mbit.
When I confronted the supervisor of customer service with this poor result he just said "yeah, that's how it is..."
Regarding your advice to enable LTE through the hidden menu, don't forget that this only works until the next reboot.

Just wondering if other provider had already launched their LTE beside TSel? I am using XL and Three. Last time i tested XL LTE, the speed is 60Mbps+

Just called XL cust service. The LTE is still in testing period and only available at several areas (kokas, senci and cp). They dont know either when it will be available on other areas.

Dear fellow guys,
I have updated my previous G3 4.4.2 10O version (out of the box) to Android 5.0 20F-ESA via LC PC Suite and the G3 is unable to perform LTE compatibility check via *#*#4636#*#* > Phone Information
Just went to XL center to upgrade the subscription from Hotrod 3G+ to Super Hotrod 4G but due to the fail checking on the above steps the customer rep told me that it could be the phone os version that could not work with XL 4G service.
Any idea/solutions guys?
Thanks

If the problem of *#*#4636#*#* then you must back to KK 10o, after obtaining your Lte card , flash again to LL.

based on the h t t p://lg-phone-firmware.com under Indonesia Region there is V10I available, there is not V10O. The V10O is available under CIS_OPEN and Kazakhstan Region.
So is it okay if I download the V10O from that region or I need to download only from Indonesia region which is V10I ?
Thanks

If you must download , take 10l , maybe configurations more better.

This is a very interesting find I might say.
I just updated my Note Edge 4G LTE (bought from Singapore) to 4G LTE, exchanged with a 4G LTE uSIM, and never got the 4G LTe icon nor the LTE option from the network settings on the the phone. I still haven't returned to Graha Telkom in Gandaria City and *****ed to the customer service rep about this situation
My Galaxy Note Edge is my primary phone whereas my LG G3 is my secondary phone. I wanted to test the Note Edge on the LTE first before switching to 4G on my LG G3.
The included picture is my speedtest result on regular 3G. Not bad for regular 3G on Telkomsel but a tad too slow for 4G. I was getting 40+Mbps on the Verizon 4G LTE Network when I was living in the States (Atlanta).
Edit: I just transferred my 4G LTE uSIM to my LG G3 and deleted the LTEconfig.apk and the LTEconfig.odex file from system/app and I was able to get the "GSM/WCDMA/LTE auto" option and I enabled it but the 4G icon never appears in my notification bar.
I then went to 3845#*855# hidden menu and enabled LTE only and still never got the 4G icon to show up.
What is going on with Telkomsel???

Hello there, as for my situation, when first i got the LG G3 out of the box, I received the software which I believed is to V10O (still KK version) then I received another update from LG update which is LteConfigs, and before I download this LteConfig update, I noticed that under mobile network there is no gsm/wcdma/lte option, but once i applied the LteConfigs update, the lte option was there.
So this morning, I went again to XL center to upgrade my postpaid subscription to hotrod 4G and the cust rep insert the new sim card to the G3, I could see the 4G icon but when I go back to mobile networks to check the lte option, it was not there and the 4G icon signal suddenly went missing and switch back to H.
Then the cust rep told me not to open mobile network option once I ve got the 4G icon.
Next he access the *#*#4636#*#* > phone information > scroll down and select lte/wcdma option then click on run ping test to trigger back the 4G signal then there it is, I got back the 4G icon on my phone.
He told me to always do above steps manually if only the 4G signal switch back to H even if you are in 4G coverage which I am not sure why to do so.
Then again i checked back on the LG update center and notice that the LteConfigs that I downloaded and applied yesterday was gone, it is not there anymore, i wonder what happen to it.
Funny thing is, if I insert my Telkomsel Simpati sim card, the G3 able to show lte option on its mobile network list but when switch back to XL sim card, the lte option was not there.
I assumed it must me something to do with XL provider or whatever it is.

From my previous post, you can see a screenshot of my LG G3 on a 3G speed of 12Mbps download and 3.7Mbps upload. That is actually pretty fast for a 3G network.
Can you please do a speedtest when your phone is on the 4G network, screenshot it and post it here on XDA. I want to see what the difference of speed between 3G and 4G LTE.

I'm not sure , but one prblem solved , Lte card.
Have you try hidden menu 3845#*855# , in RAT selection select Lte/Wcdma, also maybe needed in Lte data test , tick rmnet.
After that try searching network provider , once you see Lte select it to registered ?
But I'm not sure after reboot.

I ran the speedtest and the result for DL is 2.63 Mbps and UL is 3.93 Mbps which is a bit ridiculous I would say. It is lower than the 3G speed.. Anyway, I will give it a time for the XL since it is a new implementation to the public as for now who knows couple of months later, everything will be stable as it is for the network performance/speed.

Indonesia is waaaay behind in technology. America had 4G in 2009 and Telkomsel and XL is just releasing 4G!!! When can we expect a stable 4G, or is that even possible, considering even their 3G network is painfully unstable. Indonesia is the last of the Southeast Asia countries to release 4G network. S. Korea is planning to launch 5G within this year.

Who is using a Verizon G2 on T-Mobile?

I just learned that the Verizon version comes SIM unlocked and should work on T-Mobile and AT&T. Anyone here using it on T-Mobile? What are your results? I know LTE is a no-go, but do you get decent speeds in a refarmed area? I can't find any T-Mobile versions on Craigslist, but there are a ton of Verizon versions for pretty cheap so I was thinking of snatching one up if you guys have had any luck.

Actually I'm pretty sure u can use lte on Tmo as they use aws bands for lte which is one of the 2 bands the vzw model supports. If u go to the g2 Wikipedia page it shows compatible bands for all varients
the definition of open: “mkdir android ; cd android ; repo init -u git:// android.git.kernel.org/platform/manifest.git ; repo sync ; make" gansta mic drop
Instead of creating a new thread I decided to bump yours.
While I still have unlimited data on Verizon, I know it won't last forever, so I bought a SIM and activated it on the $30/mo plan. Today is the first day with it, and while I don't get coverage at work which I already knew, GPRS and EDGE seem to work, just very, very slowly. I went into an LTE area and I did not have LTE, but had HSPA+ and as I drove away it switched to HSPA, then back to EDGE. While on HSPA+ I ran two speed tests, pings were around 60ms but the download speed was about 1-1.5Mbps, and upload was well under 1Mbps.
I'm running CM 10.2 (CM11 has BT issues for me), does anyone else use their Verizon phone on T-Mobile and gets better speeds? Last year I bought a Nexus 4 and in a close location I got 15-20Mbps on HSPA+, so I think it's something with this phone.
I also noticed that despite being connected to GPRS, EDGE, or HSPA+ in about phone it says the signal strength is -120dBm and doesn't move.
I think the G2 doesn't have the AWS LTE bands enable yet. Maybe in a future update.

How much time did you need to give it, and are there any modes that need to be enabled? I'm on stock ROM with 12b but can't seem to get past HSPA. If switch the phone to LTE/CDMA, it doesn't find any service but will find HSPA when in Global mode.
My Verizon S4 would find T-Mobile LTE when switched to LTE/CDMA, but wouldn't find the GSM networks unless switched to Global. Using the phone info app, I was able to set it to LTE/GSM auto PRL, but that app doesn't seem to work for the G2.

I had some odd connection display issues with the stock rom from verizon.
It seems to try to check for it cdma network. And the annoying ?Sim Simbol.
I just flashed the t-mobile stock rom with the flex patch.
Been using it as if its a tmobile phone.
Blazingfast stable and it was dirt cheap.

So I've got a similar question, but if I got a verizon version of this phone (due to cost - the verizon one sells for ~30-50 cheaper) can I use it with straight talk for data/talking/text/mms/etc.? Or does ONLY data work when using an ATT/T Mobile sim?
My plan is to use the phone with a ATT straight talk sim card.
This is a nice bit of information considering ill be switching to T-mobile next month... so your telling me i just pop a T-mo sim in this g2 and boom thats the end of it?

Yes u can. Just bypass the activation screen with that "volume upvdown combo"(search for instructions) and u can use with verizon stock rom.
No sim unlock needed.
Flashing will make it easier to deal with stock bloatware.
Since verizon ware is pretty deep integrated.

I'm excited now, I will get verizon G2.. I always wanted to G2 since it came out but I had Optimus G in April 2013.. their service sucks ass >.< I just wanted a better coverage since in Hampton Roads there's more Verizon and T-mobile LTE coverage. Flash the Stock T-Mobile Rom and Patch it with the Flex Patch.
I am getting stable LTE 4G. 3G where no LTE present.
I don't know if I was on LTE on Verizon rom, I couldn't tell the antenna indication apart LOL

Can you tell me if you are getting HSPA+ in non-refarmed areas? Thinking of picking one up but not sure if I'll get HSPA+ in the 1700 areas... Just not a lot of 1900 around here.

I think It uses 1700 for the 4G ?
But when i venture towards Louisiana I loose stable 4G and i get 3G. (But then its like Ghost town of GSM towers there)
I reside in Houston Area at the moment where most parts of it are 4G/H+/LTE
The Version i want to get my hands on is the D805 it seems to match 2 antennas from T-Mobile if its the same mhz no idea.

Wow... Thanks so much. I really appreciate it.
The funny thing is even the specifications for the T-Mobile variant say nothing about 1700 either. They only talk about 1900. Yet, mine obviously works in non-refarmed areas.
You don't notice that you can't get HSPA+ less than anyone with a T-Mo device, right? All I want is for it to work just as well, not better.

It wouldn't work any worse than a Normal Tmobile phone from what I have noticed.
It does work better than a AT&T iPhone 4S variant used on Tmobile when it comes to Data.
It seems to be getting about the same performance in Data than the iPhone 5 T-Mobile Variant.
There are areas where the iPhone 5 Picks up 4G faster, there are areas where LG G2 is Faster in Download speed. (Basic Difference between phones)
But normal use I have no issues, I have not taken LG G2 on an international Trip yet.
I do use 4G Data Alot I jsut reached my 2gb mark for the month with 8 days to go.

[Q] 4G vs hsdpa in status bar

I have just tried a 4g Sim in my note 3 the status bar shows an h which is what it has always showed. It never showed 3g just h.
If I am connected to 4g what should that bar show an l for late or 4g?
I am in the UK and currently with three but testing ee's 4g service.
Thanks

You get a HSDPA+ signal if you're not in a 4G area, I am in the same boat, I am also with Three (waiting for their 4G service to come out before deciding weather to switch).

Cool but on 4G what should the status bar say?
On 3G it shows H rather than 3G so I don't know what it will show when correctly connected to 4G.
Thanks
It will show 4g.. see attached..

Three are piggybacking on EE's network for LTE, I am with them also, and EE have the fastest bands currently. So I expect the LTE to be spot on. Currently their signal strength has gotten really poor, I am hoping it's because they are swapping the bands to jump on EE.

Where did you hear that? As far as I'm aware, Three are building their own LTE network, though some of it will be spectrum acquired from EE.
Three did share it's 3g network with TMo/EE, but I've not heard that this is the case for 4g.

I first read it on a Three web forum, I was quizzing them about how the signal strength had suddenly gotten super poor. Can't remember which site it was I scoured so many as it was and still is annoying that signal barely goes over 2 bars even in a big city (Leeds)
As for the spectrum, they purchased some from EE but are running on their network bands (only intial start up maybe?) - EE 4G goes live here (York) this month and Three goes live January. So close together would assume that the starting of it would be on EE's spectrums until further?

The spectrum they bought from EE was in the 1800MHz band - the very same band than EE's LTE sits in.
So no. I don't think they will be using EE's network at all.

Three are not piggybacking on EE's network, they merely acquired some of the 1800Mhz spectrum from EE (That EE was forced to sell by OFCOM to get the go-ahead for their early 4G Rollout), supposedly Three got it for free as well. Three also acquired some 800Mhz spectrum during the auction, so they have both.
As far as I understand, Three aren't allowed to use all of the 1800Mhz spectrum they acquired until September 2015, but they can use 2x10Mhz of it now. I don't know which of the two blocks they're using for their current rollout, or if they're using both.
Never mind all of that, you should see 4G in the status bar if you're on 4G. Make sure you go into the settings and set the Note to connect to LTE/WCDMA/GSM services - my Three Note 3 didn't originally have that option and when it recently appeared, it was still on WCDMA/GSM.

[Q] Verizon LG G2 to T-mobile LTE?

I have read a lot already on this site about my issue just wanted to clear up a few unanswered questions.
I am looking to switch from Verizon to t-mobile because of prices and terrible reception where I'm living in Riverside Ca. So I know that I can simply put in a t-mobile sim and change to the correct gsm settings and get cell reception (correct me if I'm wrong) but what about getting LTE from t-mobile? I have looked to see if the new 700 mhz band covers here and Ventura County Ca. (where I am when I'm not in Riverside) and it does so I should get LTE without having to put in a custom Rom, correct?
I'm a novice when coming to roms (plus a failed attempt) so i would like to avoid them as much as I can. Will do it if I have to though... All about saving $$$$
Thanks for the replies.
@mjmjpfaff
I know what your saying about saving $$$ phones these days are almost the half of a old car/price of a motorcycle.
If your Verizon phone is not simlocked and also has support for the LTE bands which T-Mobile is using then it's possible to get LTE working without the need to buy another phone. If it's mentioned on internet on multiple sites that the G2 supports that LTE band then you can get it without a custom rom.
In my eyes it's possible to have working LTE from T-Mobile on your verizon phone, but to be 100% sure I would contact Verizon support about your question.
I also had many fail attempts with custom roms first but after you get how it works, you can flash anything as smooth as butter:good:
you could also wait for a VS980 G2 user who had the same issue as you but I think that it would take you more time awaiting for a reaction from somebody since not many people are browsing the Q&A section.

I found this on another thread:
"I just switched from a Verizon Galaxy Note 2 to the G2 since all I can get from it with t-mobile is H+ speeds (about 4mbs-6mbs). I inserted the t-mobile sim into the verizon g2 and it automatically switched to global mode and I then went in to edit the apn settings to fast.t-mobile.com. 4G LTE is working just fine on stock rom kitkat update (I'm in L.A. suburb). Speeds range from 15mbs to 30mbs+ depending on where I am in the city. Here are some screenshots"
This guy is pretty much in my area and sounds like he did not do anything other switch in a t-mobile sim...
( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2609607&page=4 --> first post on that page)
I will DM him to get some more insight.
Thanks for your reply.
I'm using my droid mini on tmobile and am getting LTE speeds. You should see them if you're in an area where the network was refarmed to 1900mhz
Keep in mind the fastest speeds you will see is 21Mbps unless you swap for the Tmobile Verizon which goes up to 42Mbps and higher.

Hi I too am using t-mobile on a VS980 and with CM11 and Cloudyg3, I am able to get LTE through their automated APN settings!

Phone keeps switching between 4G and LTE.

Received the phone today. It keeps switching between 4G and LTE in my home. When I walk around the house, it changes constantly. It might be LTE in the living room one minute, and when I circle around and go back there, its on 4G. Does this all over the house. I am two blocks away from a TMobile tower. My Samsung Galaxy S6 stays on LTE. Wonder what the problem is? As of now, its a deal breaker for me and the phone might go back unless there is a satisfactory solution.
I also have the same problem. It always switches in SIM card status between HSPA and UMTS like it has some kind of a bug. Wifi connections works fine, can make calls and SMS, but the big problem is that I can't connect to the Mobile internet. Please can someone help because this is really disappointing.

Also this constantly switching and searching for network is draining my battery very fast. So I need to switch to 2G to stop the consumption.
I have the 6gb Version and the Chinese Stock Rom and with Tmobile i got 4g and in a City area i get 4g+ but it always works. Do you have a Shop Rom installed.

I don't know which Rom is in my phone, but I think it's Shop Rom because I received it from Honorbuy.com. My phone model is LEX720 6GB ram & 64GB storage.
mine ( dual sim, 6g/64g) was initially from the shop and it had customer rom. but the 4g was very stable. however, i still flashed the factory rom 017s . but with either rom, the phone have been working fine on 4g network.
Mine does 4G and Let switching too. Seems to prefer 4G and kicks up to LTE if needed based on demand. 4G has a theoretical speed that no provider even dishes out that I know of so I wouldn't worry about that. Battery drain could be an issue, but doesn't seem to hurt mine at all (US version on T-Mobile in Dallas). In fact I suspect it does that to save battery, trying to go with whichever is strongest. Total guess though.

I manage to fix data connection by setting the real APN address. Now 4g works well and there is no switching.

How do u get the real APN number. I am on T-Mobile
LeEco Pro3
When you guys see LTE go to 4G, do you see a little + sign behind the 4G icon? If so, that's normal. It's indicating that you're getting TWO simultaneous LTE connections at once (or in other words, Carrier Aggregation is active). Try doing a speedtest and you'll see pretty quick speeds. It's one of the first things I noticed when I got mine.

You should ask on T-Mobile to give you APN number. I got it from my own operator.
I might be wrong here, but isn't LTE and 4g the same thing?
or is it like HSPA+ and 3g (which is not the same thing)
i get 4g everywhere i go, it never changes to 3g or HSPA+ i can't really complain about that, i do however also live in denmark with GSM
I had to change the APN on mine too. Kept going between 3g 4g and no service.
The new ipdate fix this problem. The switch between 4g and lte. Now its lte every time.

Which exact model (S/K/L) do you have & which LTE Bands are available in your area?
Have you used the app LTE Discovery to try to connect/see which bands your phone are "seeing" ?

Have you tried to manually insert T-Mobile's APN?
Are you T-Mobile US,or in Europe?

New Antenna design seems not working well with LTE bands in US, got weaker signal strength compare with old Note 7. the downstream seems fine, but upstream speed is slow and inconsistent. switched to 3G then upstream speed back normal.
for AT&T, APN setting is fine, manual setting and auto setting in phone yield same results. not totally unusable but does feel restricted.

I wonder if the different chip set has anything to do with the difference you're experiencing vs last year's Note 7 (assuming you had a Snapdragon-powered device).
Mine is arriving tomorrow, on T-Mobile US, LTE Bands 2/4 & just rolling out Band 12 in my area.
Coverage is sketchy @ my house, but, crazy strong @ work, pegging out the meter on the OOKLA Speed test app. .
If I have connectivity issues @ work, it will be easily apparent.
As long as phone calls are strong/consistent & LTE is decent, I'll be OK, as I'm covered by WI-FI most hours of the day.

I'm a Note FE user on T-Mobile in Philadelphia, PA area and I'm showing LTE. At first it was showing 3g. Here is what I changed in the Mobile Networks section.
1. In mobile networks, manually changed APN from epic.tmobile.com to fast.tmobile.com. I also changed the APN protocol and APN roaming protocol to IPv6
2. In Network Mode selected "3g only" then backed out of the menu.
3. Went back into Network Mode again and selected "LTE when available".
After that it switched to LTE.
I'm not sure if the APN changes were important, but it is what I did.
Drove to Ohio and back this weekend and had LTE the whole way pretty much.

It's a settings/software difference between the three models, check my recent posts for comparison between the KT & SK Models.
We're used to this sort of thing in the US,VZW & AT&T will hide settings/make them inaccessible vs T-Mobile & Sprint.
I didn't expect this from the Korean variants, but,a little internet scouring has revealed KT phones are a bit of a PITA w/this particular issue.
I'm still awaiting additional feedback from the seller,I'm giving it another few hours 'til I ping 'em again.
I've heard from an AT&T user who has this model & they can connect to LTE,perhaps they & KT have similar bands.........
Regardless,I have 30 days for a return,I'm hoping it doesn't take anywhere near that long to resolve.
If this drags out for more than a few days,I may put it up for sale on Swappa with a "Buyer Beware" for T-Mobile US customers.

Thank you! This was a god send!
I also have a N935S (Note 7 FE for skt) and was frustrated at not getting LTE connections, especially since T mobile only had 2G or LTE coverage at my home, and was almoat resigned to return this.
Followed instructions and I now have LTE and connection seems strong and stable too. I will travel around this week to see if LTE works all round, but I think I can now make this my daily driver!
Many thanks!
p.s. now if I could get root ..... !
I'm guessing that SM-N935K doesn't have that feature to switch it to LTE or 4G but SM-N935S has that future this is a damn shame. I love this phone but I guess I would have to send it back.

THX,Band 4 is the predominant band in my area, followed by Band 2 & very sparingly Band 12.
On T-Mobile US,I'm currently only on 3G (UMTS or HSPA+).
I've confirmed in the settings, along w/LTE Discovery & the OOKLA SpeedTest app backs that indication up,with the less than 4G Speeds I'm accustomed to.
Currently on the phone w/T-Mo,see if there is anything they can do..............
