Super slow LTE - G3 General

Hey guys. Well, I got the international G3 unlocked and off-contract last weekend and ended getting a post paid plan later just for the LTE. I don't know why, but I'm experiencing extremely slow speeds like 0,5 Mb. I don't know if it's the phone or the carrier (I have another LTE phone in the house, but it uses nano-sim, so I can't try on it). Has anyone ever heard about something related? I called my carrier and they say everything is perfectly fine with my line.

Anyone else not able to get LTE on AT&T?

So I bought the G2 last night and got it home where I usually have a pretty weak LTE signal. It's always there, though. I was only able to get HSPA last night before going to bed. Figured I would deal with it this morning. Here I am, at work, where I always have solid LTE and I'm not getting it here either. The phone came programmed with the "Phone" APN settings, so first thing I tried was switching to the "PTA" settings and same thing - only "4g" and not LTE.
I called AT&T and they said three towers are down near my work, and have been down since September 3rd. I informed her that my HTC One was connecting just fine to LTE yesterday. She suggested that the G2 is "more sensitive" and probably "not able to pick up LTE further away." I won't turn this into a bashing-of-ATT thread, but come on! I gave up and went back to the drawing board. I tried the *#*#4636*#*# thing, but there isn't an option to choose which networks to force. Does anyone have ANY suggestions? I can keep calling and try to get a different rep, but you know how that goes...
Other than that, love the phone. Boy, every time I walk into the AT&T store, I'm reminded of what a minority we are here at XDA. It was on display, but the rep didn't know what it was or why I wanted it. I told him "it has a nice screen" and he told me to wait for the 5s He was also blown away that I wanted to buy it outright, rather than upgrade (or sign up for Next).

I noticed that they switched my dataplan from SMT (?) to LTE. Same price, but maybe different authorizations...??

Interesting. I'm now with the third rep on the phone and they're getting someone from LG on the line as I hold longer. It's definitely not an issue with my plan, though, perhaps I shouldn't be so sure. The HTC One was working on LTE this morning, then putting the SIM in the G2 I can only get "4g."
Should be interesting talking to LG.

They also gave me a new sim, but the reason was supposed to be related to NFC.

Well, turns out my SIM was the problem. The same SIM worked fine in my wife's Galaxy S4 and my HTC One, but would not get an LTE connection on the G2. I have no idea why, but, that was the issue!

Perhaps since the G2's hardware is newer and needs a newer SIM?

[Q] N9005 on AT&T and HSPA+ only getting 0.62Mbps down

I just got an n9005 and while I understood it would not be 4G I expected HSPA+ at around 6 or 7Mbps which to be fair is about all my previous SIII 4G phone from AT&T would get, but when I swapped out the card, and entered the APN I can get now get HSPA+, but only at 0.62Mbps down and 0.6Mbps up, which well is not really worth it, I really do not want to switch phones, what a waste, and I understand HSPA+ it should be able to do 6+, yet I'm not seeing any close to that. I'm in NY City so signal is no issue, just can not work out why I have no speed at all on the N9005 unit.
Thanks,
ERIC
How old is your SIMcard? This is usually an Old SIM meets New Phone problem.

What is the HSPA+ speed on your previous S3?
It may be due to the heavy traffic on your network. Try to test on another time (late night) or another location?
You can also complain with you service provider for the issue. Other users may also face with the problem as you.
SIM is only a year old. As for the old phone it gets 3Mbps+ .
I will try late tonight to see what happens.
Thanks,
ERIC

For those with the lte version in the US straight talks tablet plan works great and cheaper if your only looking for light data usage. Im using their att prepaid sim and get good lte signal just fine. For $15 for a sim card and 1 gb data pretty good. Also do a 4 gb 60 day plan. Just an fyi for you. Merry christmas

I currently have their phone service, i have my unlocked HTC one M8, the service is great, only complaints i have is #1. 3gb of data goes fast if im using pandora and/or playing games while im off wifi, and #2, and this is the worst, their customer service is TERRIBLEEEE worst customer service i have ever dealt with, BUT!!! heres the awesome positive, since their customer service is so awful, they made a mistake i was trying to add another phone on my account for my cousin, and i was porting her number from MetroPCS, and they messed up, took my phone number off of my account, and for some reason, i havent had to pay for 3 months now and my phone has been active lol!!! the only downside is, i WAS using a ATT sim, however i switched to a T-Mobile sim, and the reception i get at my shop is pretty bad, if i have the Garage bay doors shut, i only get Edge for Data, however when theyre open i get LTE, also the Tmobile sim has much faster LTE speed than the AT&T sim, i was getting great reception with the AT&T sim, however my LTE was really unstable from 5mb/s to 30mb/s but rarely the latter, with the Tmobile sim i get 40+mb/s anytime i have LTE reception!
Other than that, the service is awesome, you cant go wrong with it, you can use Straight Talk with tablets, AT&T, Tmobile, and Even sprint phones!
im very happy with it, but i dont think ill ever have to pay a phone bill again! lol hopefully my sim card never fails

LTE Confirmed Working On Metro PCS

I can confirm that LTE is working on My 4gb/64gb ZenFone 2... I live in Seattle Washington and I've been getting consistent speeds of right around 25-28 MB/s... Not the greatest speeds in the world but far better than the 7-8 MB/s I was getting with my At&t Go Phone SIM... For whatever it's worth to anyone on the fence about buying one, I've had just about every phone worth having, between the EVo 4G and the GS5 and I gotta say "I'm loving my ZenFone 2"!!! If you factor in the $299 price tag, off contract, I have to say... This Bad Boy is Unrivalled!!!
I believe Metro relies on Magneta's LTE bands (2/4/12) because they merged a few years back. You can also unlock certain Metro phones for T-Mobile and vice versa.

Update/A few thoughts
So the last few days I had been running my speed tests in the afternoon, mostly because my mornings are so busy and I forget. However, today I made it a point to run a few on off peak hours and in different locations on my 45 min commute to work and I was getting consistent speeds over 35MB/s and as high as 45mb/s! Not to bad :good:
At my office where I was struggling to achieve 2MB/s on my At&t SIM, I got 3 tests of 35MB/s at least on all 3...
So I'd say if you're on Metro PCS in Seattle and you're contemplating the ZenFone 2 US version, buy away. On the flip side if you own the ZenFone 2 and you're contemplating Metro PCS, save yourself some money and enjoy the higher speeds!!! Oh and I bought the $12 case on Amazon with the circular display on the front. Sorry the name of it slips my mind at the moment. It's slightly on the fragile side but I believe is fine if you aren't doing anything to crazy with it but I'd have to say the features that are enacted while it's on are pretty cool to have.
Between that and the knock to wake features, it has truly simplified the menial tasks you do with your phone... Every day I like this phone more and more. My infatuation with rooting and custom roms, while it's still there, has definitely subsided over the past year or so and the way these phones are coming out of the box these days we're getting the performance we were so desperately craving on our Evo's, Galaxy's etc. So while I still love the work these geniuses are doing and I'm still in awe with their talents at times, I can wait a little longer for the development to catch up... I suppose what I'm saying is don't let the lack of development detour you, they'll get around to it, they can't help themselves, you can only push one project so far before you start craving the next one!

As it is an unlocked phone, it will show 4G. To the rest of the world (other than us here in the USA) 4G is LTE. What we consider 4G is actually HSPDA+ (so your signal will show H+).
The phone won't show LTE because 4G is LTE
MetroPCS runs on the T-Mobile network, so any phone that works with T-Mobile, when unlocked, will work on MetroPCS
Excellent signal on metro, much better than this cheap lg phone I bought through them.
This is definitely showing 4G on Metro? I'm contemplating switching from Cricket because the best I can get thus far is H+ yet my GF, who has an identical device to mine except for ROM size, get's 4G all the time. When I saw that Metro has unlimited LTE for the same price as Cricket's 10GB max I figured I might as well try them out.
However I will say this. I'm on Tmobile but have many friends on MetroPCS. It runs on T-mobile but seems to have better policies in terms of usage restrictions but there is still a fine underlying line. If you consecutively pass 15GB month to month they will throttle you and when you call they play the whole "Oh thats strange let me help you with that. Were not throttling you" but magically when its the start of the next month your internet magically works again. So there is still a fine line and you cant go completely native but regardless if you average under 15GB and 8GB on tether a month Metro does offer one of the best deals around atm.

Nice I'll definitely check that out. I hit 10GB often with Cricket now but rarely over that.

Using Oneplus 6t in Japan/Tokyo?

I've got the Tmobile Variant (A6013) it's unlocked too .. and have gone to the willmyphonework website to check and it appears to have a lot of the 3g and 4g/lte radios needed.. so I'm guessing it probably will work or kinda work. It would be nice to know if anyone has actually used a Oneplus 6t in the Tokyo area. My Tmobile plan comes with unlimited txting and data that would be great to use.. I used it in Sweden and it was fantastic. If it happens not to I'm fine with buying a sim to use in my phone. Thanks for any info!
I was just in the same situation as you when I went this past march! Texts work great, I got service in most areas. As for data I didn't use it that much but when I did it worked just fine.
