Open Camera
Tap Wrench
Tap Down Button to open up the three icons: (General Settings) (Camera Settings) and (Video Camera Settings)
Tap on (General Settings)...the icon looks like a camera and a film tape.
Where you see Camera Source, it should say front. Tap on front, and choose back.
Easy.
wow thanks poetryrocksalot!
i cant believe i missed the "down button" on the lower right hand corner
How about a handgestures recognition app by using the front camera?
It does'nt have to be complicated to be usefull!
*A simple app that record the biggest movement and the direction it goes by using front cam. -Move your hand to the left in front of the camera to navigate left in a menu.
*Trigged by harware key.
*Just for menu navigation and simple tasks. - To move the marker. -Navigate menus while driving etc..
*Trigged by a system event? Recieve sms. Move hand down do mark as read? Calls?
Just some thoughs. I know we will get some of the feautres in winMo 7, but why wait? Anyone with some spear time?
I 2nd this!
I just read the review for the new SE handsett T707. It has a camera-gesture, for instance you can snooze the alarm by just swiping your hand above the handsett (if it's laying down) or mute calls the same way, configurable.
This should be entirely possible with winmo useing both cameras (preferably the one on the front), all we need is a app. Perhaps there is allready one?
I'm 3rd to this...
This one's pretty cool...
Better if they got configuration like:
If certain program/notification is on (maybe call in or SMS in), the camera is activated by itself.
And also if the phone is faced down (front cam is obstructed so it only get dark image), it auto activate the back cam.
If the back cam is also get dark image (obstructed, maybe the phone is in pocket) it'll activate the flash (if there is any and check if they still get dark image or not, because if you're in the dark room then the camera is getting dark image, so it check if its in dark room or really in the pocket).
Because if you're in dark room, no matter you swipe you hand, it'll get dark image, so with the flash on for certain period of time, the cam can get some image even though its blurry.
Otherwise the program shut itself off and leave the notifications on...
I can see this as cool, but perhaps a bit gimmicky.. I don't really see much use aside from simple tasks until the processors, cameras and RAM can improve drastically.
Might just be me being silly, but how can I use the front camera to take my picture, for example taking a photo for my user account. It just gets me to use the rear for a small icon and I don't really fancy finding a mirror so i can see what I'm taking the photo off much less find the capture button on the screen. I know it can easily,y be taken with the rear just seems silly if you can't take it with the front.

My tablet isn't in reacahble distance atm But when your on the camera, I think you want to hit the settings button (top-right?) and then hit the icon with a camera and arrows around it.
Launch Camera >> Press and Hold finger in middle of screen >> drag finger to the top left to the Camera icon with the arrows >> it will switch to the front camera >> repeat process to get it to switch back.
Top guys. Knew I had to be doing something wrong
Hi,
I find the behaviour of the S4 stock camera app very annoying since Lolipop came out.
Normally, when you click on the camera icon, you expect that the camera actually opens, right? Well, if you have once started the camera, and then entered the review-mode by clicking on a picture you have just taken, and then press the menu button to return to the home screen, the next time you press the camera button, you will be taken back to exactly that preview, not to the camera view.
This may seem logicl from an app-point of view (app already running), but not from what a user expects: when I push the camera button on the home screen, I want to be taken to the camera instantly, no matter which mode the app was previously.
The next illogical thing is: When you are in picture view mode of the camera app, and press the "back" button on the S4 device hoping to be taken back to camera mode, the app closes, instead of taking you to the camera. The only thing that gets you back is pressing the little camera-symol in the upper right corner of the app.
To sum it up: this is totally annoying, why does Samsung such a bad job there? Anything to change the behaviour?
Won't swiping work?
CM camera and Google camera offer the ability to swipe into gallery and back to the camera.
I guess the thing with you pressing the camera app and it takes you to it's previous state (gallery) is because the camera app and the gallery are tied together.
That picture preview gallery is basically another feature of the camera. Most camera apps come with their own. Even if you don't have any gallery app at all, you can still preview a picture.
I sometimes use the front camera for video but I have noticed that everything is reversed, both pictures and video. For example, take a picture of a book with the front camera and the test will be back to front. Why is this and if there a way to fix this?
Open your Camera app.
Go to Settings (topmost left gear-like icon).
Then under the Pictures section, go to Save options.
Find the ‘Picture as previewed’ option and use the toggle button to turn it off.
Thanks!!!
