When initially setting up my Galaxy Tab 4 8.0, something detected that I had an Outlook.com account and asked me to log in to it (as I recall it happened shortly after I logged in to my Dropbox account). After I logged in, I was presented with a very clean interface optimized for a tablet to Outlook.com, so I assumed an app was already installed for it. Unfortunately I closed the app using the task manager before I saw what it was, and now I can find nothing on the device that resembles what I saw during registration.
I've tried logging in from both the Samsung and Chrome web browsers, but the interface is not the same, and not well optimized for the Tab. There as also no evidence of browsing to Outlook.com in the History. I've opened the Email application, and the account was not registered, so I'm confident that's not what I saw. I downloaded the Outlook.com app and logged in, and it too is not the same (and not as nice) as what I saw during setup. As there was no caching of messages in the app I saw during setup, it seemed it was some kind of web app rather than a local mail app.
I've tried factory resetting the device, and the prompt to log into my Outlook.com account did not show up the second time.
Has anyone else experienced this, or have any ideas what interface to Outlook.com I was seeing during setup?

I'd like to know about other people's experiences with CM6 and Exchange. With the stock email app, I have noticed at times that at times it would start using a lot of cpu, and stop receiving emails. I did have "all email" sync, but these issues would happen randomly after all of my mailbox was downloaded; could this have anything to do with it? I would have to reboot my phone for email to start working again. After reading about people's experience in the CM6 thread I thought it might be appropriate to have an altogether separate thread. I did notice some users having similar issues, and that TouchDown is a good alternative.
So about 2 weeks ago, I started trying it. Problem is, when I go to add a contact (discovered this by long pressing a number to create a contact), it will let me create a "TouchDown contact", but only with names. I contacted touchdown support and they said that no other applications can have access to TouchDown data for "security". I did put in a feature request for an optional contacts integration, because my Aria is a work phone, and every contact I add I *need* synced. I did think about adding contacts to Google account, and then installing Google/Outlook sync on my work pc, but this seems too convoluted.
Has CM6 exchange improved in any of the nightly builds? If I choose to go back to the stock email app, is there any way that if I run into these issues again I can provide debugging information? The only thing I really liked about TouchDown was the search email feature, but this is in no way a feature request for the stock email app. xD
Why not ask in the cm6 thread instead of starting a new one?
I've been using stock exchange mail client since the beginning of CM6 on aria, haven't ran into any major issues with it. The only problem I have with it is that sometimes the deleted email on aria still show up on desktop outlook.

Just wanted to add that stock client does stop getting emails ( very rarely for me), instead of rebooting, I just forse close the app and restart it again.

For adding/syncing contacts (using touchdown for email) I added the exchange account (under stock email settings) and set it to never check mail, but still sync contacts and calendar. I am going to see if this combination with touchdown works, as the email app is required to run if syncing exchange contacts is to work at all. I hope don't run into the process hanging without email actually syncing. I'm still waiting this trial out to see if touchdown is worth it; they did add a new feature that shows the number of new emails in the notification icon (I don't recall if this is in the stock email app).
So I received a Nexus 7 today as a gift from a grateful client. I'd wanted one for quite a while and would have purchased one eventually, but through luck, I finally have an N-7. But having played with it for barely an hour, I'm concerned about privacy in sharing this device with my family.
You see, I want to use this on my existing Google account, so that dozens of apps that I've previously purchased for my Android phone (Razr Maxx) and Android Tablet (ThinkPad) can be installed on this device without having to re-purchase them all. However, to my great surprise and frustration, I can't seem to make the Chrome Browser logout of my account and stay logged out.. Using App Protector Pro, I can lock down the Gmail app and other apps that I don't want others using. However, even though there is a logout link in Gmail when displayed in the Chrome Browser, whenever I re-open the browser the home page it displays offers to let me sign into my Google account with one click.
I use Gmail to communicate with clients. I am required by law to keep their communications private. I absolutely cannot allow a family member to have access to my Gmail account under any circumstances. How can I let my spouse and kids use the Nexus 7 but make it impossible for them to get to my Gmail through the browser? Note: I have no such trouble on my ThinkPad, but it's running ICS not JB.
You can use switchme for user accounts its the best and probably the only app around here that makes you feel desktop like user account experience. For example after adding a password to your account you can create a new account for your children. New account will not have any kind of data from your account including user apps, cookies, history, mail accounts and even the wifi access points so nothing from your account .

Hi guys,
I have been extremely frustrated with my LG G2 experience thus far (1 day) and am planning on sending it back. Everytime I turn off my phone and restart it will ask me for a password of the WiFi network in my home. Furthermore, setting up multiple gmail accounts has been a nightmare. I went into accounts and added my other gmail accounts and was able to browse email of the different accounts through the gmail app. However, when I use the browser LG or Chrome I started having issues with logging into accounts. When I go to gmail.com in my LG browser it shows all my gmail accounts and then when I click on one of them, it will either not allow me to login and the page refreshes back to where it shows all the accounts or it will only let me login in to one account and even when I sign out of it and then, try to login (if the page allows me which it does randomly) then it will take me back to the account I had supposedly just logged out of. So, I tried to logout and login to a different gmail account on my chrome browser as well, but its now just stuck in an infinite loop where the blue bar goes halfway and comes back and does the same things really fast over and over again? I tried searching and have not been able to find any answers. I called LG tech support and she said you can only ever check one gmail account whether it is through the gmail app or checking gmail through a browser. Is this true? If yes, then I will be sending the phone back and for me is a major setback. I really wish there will some easy solution to these problems, because other than these issues I really do love the device and hope I can keep it.
I am using a LG D803 from Telus. I also have not put in a sim yet either.
Thanks,
Jay
Lol. I have 803. Never heard or experienced any of the above. I use multiple Gmail accounts on app. It's highly convenient except for the sync that turns off on its own time to time

Yup, as my post says gmail app is fine. Have you tried logging in and out of multiple gmail accounts in the browsers?
Frustrated as well
I have the same wifi issue. I must enter my network and password EVERY time. I travel back at forth from work to home daily and must enter all the information EVERY time. I HATE that and am also going to discard the phone because of it. I have searched and searched for a solution and none are out there. I guess I'll go back to the IPhone.

Has anyone been successful setting up an Exchange Account with their new note 4? I am using the settings I have always used before and I keep getting an authentication error. Even my IT department is baffled. . . .
Yes, try adding a \ to the front of your exchange username. Ie: \[email protected]
Sent from my SM-N910P using XDA Free mobile app
Yeah. . . did that. No success. I have not spend 2 hours with Samsung and my IT department and no one can get this to work. Very strange and very frustrating!
I've been able to add 1 account (a free outlook.com email) with no problems.
I have another (an alma mater university email hosted on Office365.) that failed exactly as you described. Settings were correct. It still failed to authenticate.
I checked to see if it would authenticate my work email, which it worked, but I refused to give it admin privileges because they have onerous PIN requirements. So it never actually downloaded the email, but it did complete the setup process.
Maybe the app is trying to connect on the wrong port? That's the only setting missing from the app.
Ready for Samsung dumbness . . . After 2 hours with Samsung tech support, we finally installed a third party email app that worked fine with our exchange servers. . . Samsung's response. I guess your email is incompatible with our email program. . . that's too bad. . .
No promise to look into it or correct it.
New phone. . .native phone app won't work. . . Even my old Touchpad running cm9 can use this email server. Way to go Sammy!!!!!!
Worked just fine for me. I have the MX record of a private domain name registered with Office365 from Microsoft and mine worked without a hitch. It is all in the way those responsible for the Exchange server set it up. Some require domain specified, some don't require the slash, etc. If they have their autodiscover record set up correctly in DNS all you should need is your email address and password.
I will take it up with my IT department next week, but I find it odd that both Mail Wise and Nine can access the server with no trouble.
Working fine for my hosted Exchange.
Problem solved.
I have Samsung s5 with 4.4.2 that my email works.
And copied the settings to my note 4.

Seconded
I use MS Office 365 for Small Business and have a private business domain name for both my website & email (same one). It took me a little bit of time but I was able to set it up on the native Samsung email app. On my S3 all I had to do was enter my email address & password and it quickly set up, Note 4 was a little more work. None of my administrator settings have been changed (I'm the administrator) so apparently the native app has had changes made to it.
I will mention that I briefly had a LG 3 and it would not set up my MS Exchange email through its native app. I called LG tech support and they couldn't do it either. Only way I could set it up was through a 3rd part email app K9.
This time I set up my GMail & Yahoo accounts through the native app in addition to the MS Exchange account whereas on my S3 I was using the GMail & Yahoo installed apps. Everything works fine.

We had a client with a similar problem with Exchange and LG3. The solution there was to TURN OFF SMS sync. Or to be more exact, setup Exchange with SMS sync off.
Not sure if that same problem exists with the Note 4s, but worth a try.
Are any of you using "push" as your sync setting? I used it on my Note 3 and it worked fine without much battery drain. On my Note 4 Exchange Services never lets the device sleep. Interestingly, my N10.1-2014 just started doing the same thing after a firmware update. I'm trying to figure out if it's something on the device side or server side that may have changed.

Solved my issue.
Sprint Note 4 -- I have 2 Exchange Activesync accounts. Both worked concurrently on my Note 2.
One was already set up and working on my Note 4 without issue. This one is hosted by the MS365 platform. The second account throws the authentication error using the stock email app. This one is hosted by the corporate Outlook.com division. I got it working using Nine in less than a minute.

What is the version of Exchange Server in your case that didn't work with stock email app?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk
All of the sudden over the past week or so, I am having sync issues withe the stock Samsung email app not recognizing read emails, deletions or replys, whereas other apps like Outlook do not have this problem. I tried removing and reinstalling the exchange account, but that did not help. I have made no changes to my server or to the app settings that would cause this issue. As an example, if I read or delete an email on my desktop or tablet, the phone does not see it, though it is receiving all new email. it worked fine up until a week ago. I use Office365 for exchange.
Anyone else having a similar problem with the stock email app?
I'm getting similar. I've removed/reinstalled the account several times, removed the partnership with O365 and still no joy.
Tried the MS Troubleshooting tool, and its suggested an SSL error, but doesn't give anything more than that.
Has anyone found a splution yet? (I can't use the outlook app for Android as not approved by our security team....)
Thanks
Could be connected to the updates they've done with outlook.com email. It stopped working on outlook 2016 for about a month.

Over the past few days, the sync problems seems to have been rectified, for reasons unknown to me. I was having similar issues with my LG tablet native email app, but oddly, no similar problems with the Samsung app in my Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014) tablet. Regardless, I'm guessing that the problems were on Microsoft's end, as the sync problems in my S7E mail app and my LG tab mail app are gone now. I had to go in to each and manually delete or file a bunch of emails from 11-22 and 11-21, which is seemingly when the problems arose, but now all is good.
Exchange Server Sync problems Samsung G7 running Android 6.0.1 on Verizon
Started having sync problems after installing Web Guard. Email will sync when first connecting to server, but not after that. Connecting through a different WiFi everything syncs on the first connection, but no after that. Any idea where to look?
