Hello I just received a un-rooted mytouch but it is stuck on 1.5 even though the previous user has been using it on the network for the past few months. Is there somewhere I can download the latest official 1.6 update to flash onto this device?
just one click root it and flash a donut rom. It will only take like 15 minutes, and with everything else that you will be able to do with it, it would definitely be worth it.
Manually install 1.6 update on mytouch:

I tried these instructions but get an error when attempting to flash. Also the ROM he has linked is only 20mb?
is that link the REAL official t-Mobile Donut 1.6 update?? I dont understand why there are not numerous links and sources to the update, I need the real update cause i am test driving the phone, I wanna root it and try it thaqt way, but eventually in a few days im gonna have to give it back to my buddy, he already was buggin about my rooting it, i mean i guess if decide to buy it thats one thing, but i would like to bring it back to Official 1.6 status if not
Its weird usually when anykind of firmware or operating system is releaseed everyone has tons of dwnload links and various sources to get it, but i mean its weird i can only find that one link thats posted above?? I see there is a stock build here in XDA, but says a few tweaks but generally stock, im curious if I need to have the phone rooted to even install that ROM?? this ROM here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=549755
go to the t-mobile forums there is a guide for this, here is a link DIRECTLY TO THE GUIDE FOR MANUALLY UPDATING TO 1.6

sorry, i cant tell if your serious or being sarcastic.
I think he is serious, someone else mentioned it in the AOSP thread.
http://www.androidpolice.com/2010/06/23/latest-nexus-one-froyo-rom-leak-frf83/
it says you cant use this new build if you have FRF72 installed.
I had FRF72 installed and when i turned my phone on after work i got a notification to update and here it is with FRF83...When i make it home to my SDK i will post Screen shot if you want so you know i aint trollin
Anything noticeably new? Signal strength, UI, ect?
Actually, FRF72 error I saw was that the guy had a custom recovery installed. It needs to be the stock recovery to work. He was complaining that it didn't work with the clockwork recovery. Of course it wouldn't work with that.
If you install the stock recovery, and your FRF72 is NOT rooted, it should update fine.

People keep referring to this, how do you do this?
is there any link that I can download this FRF83 update from FRF72?
since one that lying around this forum is FRF83 from FRF50
maybe OP could look into his logcat and give us the link?

If you ain't joking, then it's good news for unrooted users like me who manually installed FRF72. Ooh can't wait!
Yup.. using Amon_RA recovery, and I cannot install the FRF83 nor FRF72 because of that....
Thinking about going back to CM 5.0.8 again....

Is there any way you could capture (could have captured) the .zip file your phone used for that OTA? If so then all us FRF72 users should keep a lookout for that, and maybe we'll be able to locate the correct file to upgrade our build.
The folks who get the update need to download Alogcat from the market and run it before the update starts. The log will show the location of the file.
Androidandme FRF83 OTA
edit: an sorry Alogcat wasnt installed but when i get home, if no one has posted it yet i will check the log
Its Minor at like 600ish kb
if you're waiting for the OTA, restart your phone and do
Code:
#*#*2432546#*#*
which spells out "checkin"
I am on stock ERE27 - will #*#*2432546#*#* work for me

It will just display a "checkin succeeded" notification which kinda says to the towers "yo im here" doesnt mean you'll get it right then and there but its happened before

Hi,
I have try to flash different 2.2.1 rom to my mytouch. I have tried almost everyone from this forum. One common problem, when I go to setting - about phone - system update, they are keep trying to download android supplement update. But they always fail and redownload the 50m something file again.
Does anybody know how to disable OTA? Or let it successful install?
Is ROM Manager Recovery interferences with official OTA?
thanks
my guess, if you are not flashing an official update, the supplement wont implement on the rom properly... what are you trying to get out of the update? The rom in my signature runs really well... very smooth and fast if you want to give it a shot...
Thread moved to General Q&A for your Question.

Well, but I cannot stop the phone downloading the update. It keeps download again and again.
And do you have an idea how to flash back to official, in case I need it? I did not found anywhere have really original rom. Most of them are modified.
I know how to get back to 1.5, its how you unroot... then just download the updates... here is the link to the unroot thread...http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=641179 and actually it looks like it will take you to the 2.2.1 OTA version if you follow the directions... it was listed on the first page of the forum, so wasnt too hard to find...

Hey did you ever get the solution to this problem. I am facing the same trouble. I have used more than 1.8GB of the data plan in 4 days. Please help....!!!!!
I just got the new market update OTA.
Stock T-Mobile G2, still waiting on the Ginger OTA update.
How did you get it, did it show a notification or did it just show up by itself?
im on the unity rom and not stock so im not sure if im able to get it. if not ill just install the apk
It just showed up. I was on the original market downloading something, then my download stopped. So I loaded the market back up to restart my download and BAM, the new market.
Phoenix, Arizona
Yea, I unrooted because I'm going to send my phone in soon for warranty reasons. I figured the stock folks would like to know about the update.

I'm on Unity also, and I got the Market update about a week ago. Unlocked Canada Bell Desire Z being used on the AT&T network in the US. No notification, the new Market just popped up when I opened it one day. I'm pretty sure I had even used the old Market earlier that day.
If you don't want to wait download it and install it manually:

This. Otherwise its just rolling out randomly over the next several days. There's no sure-fire way to get the update right away unless you just install the .apk.
As a warning, rooted devices CANNOT play movies rented from the market at the moment. It lets you pay then doesn't allow playback.
does anyone knows how to add the pay by bill option on the new market?
Im LOVING the new look to the Market!! Its GANGSTA!!
Tonight i received a notification that there is an update available OTA for my A500.
Version announced is 7.014.01
Where's the update file supposed to be downloaded to?
I tried to apply it, but there was an error somehow. In the middle of the update process a red triangle popped up. How can I examine the update file better?
Are you rooted? My experience is that most devices will notify you of an update just by version checking, but will fail if rooted because the files the upgrade expects to have in place have changed due to rooting. So you have to either go back to stock, lose root or wait for someone to create a new rooted ROM with this update intragrated.

For sure.
Or, it's possible all of that updates have been implemented with some of custom ROMs, like the new Market version, e.g..
I pulled the patch and decrypted it. I pulled the update.zip file now I'm trying to see what I need to do to it to make it flashible through CWM.

If you have a custom rom installed you cannot flash an official update. Also if you have a custom recovery installed it will also fail as official updates can only be flashed via stock recovery. This official zip file would need to be deodexed etc then compiled by a chef to be flashed via cwm.

You have to update to 7.014.01 first to get the next update. Haven't updated yet.
Thanks for the upload guys bu the PB 3.2.1 update is just 2 days older so I used that on to update my upcoming rom.

I think so it works like stock recovery but with more options , it is the update script that tells where everything needs to be.
But make sure you remove recovery from update and that you add su(superuser) in bin or xbin with the proper permissions for root or you will lose it.

is a Acer_A500_7.006.01_7.014.01_COM_GEN2 not for me we need a GEN1
No updates in Spain yet, afaik.
Still stuck on 7.0006.01_COM_GEN1
I don't know why acer is sooo slow spreading their patches... I've heard there is one running for at least the last month and no news here.... damn. I hope the ICS update will be faster when it's done.

Not sure, but they came back-to-back from what I heard from non-rooted users. Got the first one, and then immidietly got the next one when it booted back up.
To me, that says, first update had some minor bug that they found, or remembered, and then fixed, but since some had already updated to .01, they had to just re-patch that one...?
Maybe you could logcat where the first one comes from, and get the second one from the server? I dunno, I'm not a dev, I know just enough to get myself in trouble...
