Wondering this too. Flashing an official 910F version in Odin doesn't work, I wonder if we can however use 910F based custom ROMs? I believe the F model is the closest to the Aussie version as we normally get the same Sammy models are Europe, I think some additional bands to support CAT6 LTE for our networks was added in the G version which is the only difference.
Isnt that for a business. I should not need to install my knox. I paid $1000 for my phone the day it came out and KNOX should bloody work the piece of crap. Also when i boot into recovery it says INSTALLING UPDATE for about 45 secs, everytime i boot into it, so whats it installing???. Also i can do anything in recovery but when i reboot out of recovery it flashes a quick Error sign. Is this normal??? Can anybody shed some light. Samsung said its normal but i never had system update and error when booting into recovery in any other samsung device.

Hi,
I recently got a Samsung Galaxy Note 3 as a birthday gift and I was using an iPhone 5 before this.
I have a few questions which I would like to ask as a complete noob on Samsung and Android...
1) I wanted to know about rooting....if I root my Note 3, I read that the warranty becomes void but is there any way to root it without losing warranty?
2) I am currently running Android 4.3 Jellybean, is there anyway to update it to Kitkat as until now my country did not get the kitkat update? I am currently living in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
3) Will there be an S5 Camera app for the note 3 as I hate the default camera app on my note 3 and would like to get a better default camera app?
Thanks

I can only reply to one question.
To update your firmware goto sammobile.com download the proper firmware on your computer.
Use odin to flash it to your device.
Search xda for detailed info.

All of these questions could have been answred with some reading but anyways...
1. On 4.3 it is possible to root without tripping knox. On 4.4.2 it isn't.
Edit- Here searched a little for you and found a way to upgrade to 4.4.2 with root and not trip knox binary counter.. Knew it was there but didn't know how since I rooted and tripped knox 5 mins after getting the phone...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=49935779&postcount=488
2. Read the return to stock guided linked in my sig, follow it to upgrade to 4.4.2
3. There are some s5 apps that have been ported to note 3 in the themes and apps section, check it out

1) You can root without tripping Knox ( loose warranty ) provided that the last 3 digit of your phone's firmware is MJ3 or below ( few people though post that MJ4 can be rooted using Kingoapp without tripping Knox but can't be sure about that ).
2) It can be updated to Kitkat using non-carrier specific firmware
3) Check the Themes And Apps section for an S5 camera.
edit: Khizar beat me to it by few minutes

Hey Khizar,
Thanks mate for helping me out. I want to first upgrade my device to 4.4.2 and then root it to install the Samsung Galaxy S5 Camera App along with some other phone camera app (if possible)...don't care about warranty that much but it would be nice if it was possible to still keep the warranty if needed in the future and install these apps....
Anyways I was reading the thread from your signature and something about Bootloader being locked was mentioned if updated from JB to KK...what does that mean?
I have more questions as I am such a big noob as this is my first time using an Android Phone but first I want to upgrade it to Kitkat

You should also be aware that there is no way to reinstall any 4.3 firmware after you've flashed 4.4.2 (Kitkat).

I updated my phone to kit kat the same day that i got it, i havent noticed any slow downs at all, the only thing that i regret is that i update without thinking about a downgrade, so i whould sugest you to update using a firmware without a locked booloader.

Unless you have a specific model of Note 3 (N900W) the KK bootloader won't allow you to go back to JB.
If you have an N9005 I wouldn't recommend flashing N900W firmware as bricking can be upsetting...

Yes, but you can't go back to JB once you upgrade to KK...
Go to Sammobile.com to find out if your region has it. If not you can upgrade to another region's KK, just avoid carrier roms as they require a pit file to flash too...

1. Mine never has.
2. At Sammobile it says - UK (Vodafone) - this is a carrier rom.
If it says UK then its a generic stock rom...
You will have to re-root after update but make sure its the KK cf-autoroot (if you use that).
As you are rooted I'm assuming you have Knox warranty void at 0x1.
If not do a search on how to update to KK using Mobile ODIN, that way you can retain root but still have Knox at 0x0...

Yes, I flashed NK5 over NJ4 on my 910C and had no issues. Even kept all my apps and settings.
Hi Guys,
I ordered SM-N910C (Note4) and I should be able to received them sometime nextweek. Now, being said, rooting the device came into my mind .
1. SM-N910C (open line/ not carrier lock) can be rooted as long as its Boothloader unlocked , right? - if boothloader lock, is there a way to unlock it at this point?
2. Once I rooted and Installed TWRP/CWM, can I restore them to default/ Stock recovery ?
3. Once rooted, do I still get update on Samsung Apps via Samsung store?
4. Once rooted, Can i still update the firmware as soon as Samsung released new version such as 5.0 (understand that I need to manually upgrade it) - I think I read somewhere that if Note 4 is rooted, you will not be able to upgrade to 5.0 even doing it manually, im not sure if it is 100% correct.
5. Once rooted, other samsung apps will still work , right? such S Healh, S Voice, etc (all N4 feature).. is there any feature/ samsung app that stops working as soon as we root the device?
6. I know Note4 camera is really good, but I found this site, that we can still boost Note4 camera by replacing the camera apk, http://www.ibtimes.co.uk/how-boost-galaxy-note-4-camera-performance-using-mod-1473882 .. anybody already tested this ? wondering how it performs..
7. Planning to root it using CF Auto Root.
I understand that rooting N4 will trip Knox (let me know if there are new procedure that will not trip knox).
Thanks
1.You can root without touching bootloader.
2.Yes
3.Yes
4.Yes. but you have to flash stock ROM manually with odin (Never heard you can't flash ROM with odin bcoz of rooted status)
5.There may be some app got broken like S health, screen mirror and some banking app etc . but almost have FIX for it.
6.Your linked content is from XDA source only, search in theme and app section
7. My preferred method is flash CWM/TWRP and flash SuperSU zip (CF auto differ only by keeping recovery stock, which actually have no meaning but lot limitation is there)
No method there to root without tripping knox
PS : This topic goes to Q&A NOT in development
1.i don't think any note4's BL is Locked...or if there is any there will be unlockers soon.
2.yes, with odin.
3.yes.
4.you can update it with Odin.where do you Read it??! (if there was any problem you can use Custom Roms..Or Deodexed Lollipop Roms and Flash Them via Recovery)
5.i know if you root New Samsung Devices With CF-Root Method and others like it KNOX Will Trip...its mean All Security things that Use Knox will not work anymore Like Billing Services...go to settings/about phone and see them.
6......i don't know too
7.see 5.
i didn't root my N910C too and waiting for new procedure

Thanks, dr.ketan and genius.lizard2.
I;ve been looking for CF-Auto-Root file for Note 4 SM-N910C, and I only found this.
SM-N910C (Thailand, Exynos): CF-Auto-Root-trelte-treltexx-smn910c.zip
I am from Philippines , do you think above file will be compatible? What will be the effect? and I am not sure where my SM-N910C came from as I also saw bunch of SM-N910C from different country.
Thanks.

The cf-auto-root I found is Thailand version of SM-N910C, I'm afraid that it might not compatible with other version SM-N910C, or we encounter issues (different langauage?)

download official .tar.md5 ROM file from sammobile or if you have one use it.open it with Winrar.there is recovery.img , extract it.
make a tar file with this img file...you can do it with linux or a batch file in windows like: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2446269

With TWRP or other recovery, you can flash custom ROMs and MODs. That is the only purpose of it.
