hey guys,
yesterday, my nexus 7 (2012 model, Kitkat 4.4.4) suddenly went into a bootloop. The device was rooted until about 2 months ago. The unrooting worked fine, however, and the device worked normal until yesterday. Recovery mode leads to the same bootloop, so I tried to do a factory reset like described here
https://support.google.com/nexus/answer/4596836?hl=en
but it will not work: the line "no command" does not appear (the logo does) and nothing happens when I press power+louder in the next step.
anyone got any idea on how to solve this?
thanks so much
cheers

Hello
I was on 4.2.2 stock, not root when I received ota. After upgrade I stuck in the X boot loop.
If I try to install the 4.3 with fastboot I've the same result
If I restore the 4.2.2 with fastboot I haven't any problem
Please help me, I don't know what its happening with my phone
Best regards

I have same problem , started my OTA 4.3 upgrade 40mins back . My phone keeps restarting with "installing system update ". Any idea how can i stop this ?
Update seems to have finished, bootloops after inputting user password to unlock screen. It's a short boot right back to the password screen again.
Was stock, rooted, unlocked, 4.3 was OTA update

I got really lucky somehow, in getting the phone to work and managing to keep my data.
I don't remember every step in order, as I'm sure lots of them didn't do anything, but eventually I just reflashed every part of the factory images EXCEPT userdata.img as I (correctly?) figured that would erase my ****.
Wiped cache a few times from recovery as well.
Had a couple scares - at one point the LED turned RED during a couple bootup attempts.
First time after the 3rd round of flashing (including system.img) it would not boost past the X. Had to wipe cache in recovery again.

Exact same problem with N4. Have ota'd Galaxy Nexus and Nexus 7 no problems...

Update:
After waiting about 10-15 mins I eventually reset the phone by holding down the power button for 10 secs. It then moved to the "updating apps" screen and eventually rebooted to the Nexus "X" logo. But it hung at it the X logo for about 15 mins. I again lost patience and restarted again. It finally booted all the way up to the lock screen. I now have 4.3 and it seems to be running fine...
Just wanted to share my experience as I had the same problem. It kept saying 'installing system update...' in a loop. Then I pressed the power button. It got turned off. I turned it back on and it got stuck at X logo.
Then I booted it up in recovery mode. It again said installing system update but only once and then it started updating apps and all went fine.

So I was running CWM (Philz) I believe, and I had been running into issues while on rooted 4.2.2 D800 stock ROM. There were force closes and random reboots, etc. I've only installed xposed mods. I've also used android tuner to adjust some of the build.prop and kernel presets.
However, after my phone got stuck in what I thought was a boot loop, I finally got it up and running. What happened next was odd. I tried booting into recovery -> the "LG" splash screen showed up and it went into another infinite boot loop.
I'm assuming I somehow corrupted or lost my recovery. Any advice on what to do? I don't know if I should follow the original instructions for flashing a recovery here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2633150.
Edit: Jesus christ my phone infuriates and confuses the hell out of me. After attempting to enter the recovery again, I am now stuck in a permanent boot loop. The last time I fixed it was by turning my phone off....and then *WAITING*.
What? That doesn't make sense you say? Of course it doesn't. But that's still what worked. I waited 12 hours, and then tried turning it on again. When I did, oh look, the AT&T screen!
CONFUSING. help please...
Double edit (Hard Mode): Going into download mode when I'm in this constant bootloop = nothing happens. That little icon that says "Download Mode" with the 5 blue circles just stays there, and my laptop ends up not recognizing anything. This happened the last time too, and all I was able to see on my laptop was "QHSUSB_BULK". I thought this meant that I would have to do a complete wiping process through Linux (found on another thread somewhere), but apparently waiting 12 hours also fixed the problem.
Have a standard Nexus 7(2012), 18m old. OTA upped to Android 4.4.4. a month+ ago. Never rooted. From then on it has lasted a week or less before freezes/reboots while using apps or even nothing at all.
Have undertaken boots to fastboot mode (android on its back, door open but no red triangle) and then entered recovery mode to wipe system cache and then do a factory reset. This sometimes progresses thru startup restoring apps ok. Sometimes it crashes part way thru. Often get background Chrome and Maps crashes of late as it redownloads my old apps.
Google HW support line recommended this course of action until last time when desperate Indian woman out of her depth tried to say it was a hardware fault and palmed me off on Ausus(uk) saying they did a 2yr warranty... which I think they don't. Still to investigate that one.
The reboots kicked off again today. So did the usual: did a cache clear then factory reset and it restarted. Now it crashed while the Android coloured balls still rotating! And forcing into fast mode to do a 2nd factory reset failed as when I select Recovery Mode it now says "Booting failed" in small letters at the top and dumps u back in Recovery mode, though less the Android logo on its back. Cannot restart bootloader either, same error. Rebooting just freezes with "Google" displayed.
Have I "bricked it" somehow. How to I get past this?
As a novice, I have got Nexus Root Toolkit v1.8.5and tried to reflash to stock 4.4.4 rom on it. But bootloader is locked, as it is delivered, and it will not unlock it. (read from The Definitive Guide on How to Restore Your Nexus 7 Tablet (Even if You've Bricked It from nexus7 wonderhowto site)
Anyone got any info on what to do here? Better reflash tool/instructions? Is it hardware problem? Do Asus uk do a 2yr warranty that I need after 18months? Is this tablet permanently a dead parrot?
Any help, I am desperate here. Thanks
Hi everyone,
I am having a bit of a problem with my s4-i9505. A few weeks ago I upgraded to Android 5.0.1 manually (using Odin) and all seemed to work like a charm. I also rooted it to. So far so good
Last week an OTA was pushed and I mistakenly clicked okay. Suddenly the battery drain was insane. I read up on it and one of the solutions was to clear the cache. I powered down my s4, pressed the Volume Up + Home + Power button and for an instant I saw in small blue letters in the upper left corner: Recovery mode and underneath it the Samsung logo. Then the screen went black and booted normally.
Since then I've tried
using apps that make the S4 boot into recovery
reflashed the stock 5.0.1 firmware
reflashed an older version (4.4.2) causing a bootloop
reflashed the stock 5.0.1 firmware (solving the bootloop)
Flashing CWM recovery using ODIN.
Still only the text Recovery mode shows up, before rebooting and booting up normally.
Does anyone have a solution to my conundrum?
I managed to fix it myself eventually. I did a factory reset from within Android settings. And now i can get back into recovery mode.
