hi guys,
i just bought my brand new htd touch hd
so far am very happy with it.
but there is one thing, when i play youtube videos through the client on higher quality setting, there is a slight lagg after every frame, but voice sync is ok.
any ideas how to correct this problem?
problem also persists when i connect through wifi. I haven't installed any third party software or roms yet. and it shows 45% memory usage while playing videos.
cheers
Well ur not alone mate.. i have same laggery problem on every rom i tried. I found that it have lags while it downloading video in to memory! Try to pause it while it loading and keep it paused til its fully loaded and then play it.. lags gone!! actually i hate this bug and dunno what to do with it!! any help?
I also have that problem.
I think that it is probabily related with the qualcomm missing drivers. (?)

Could be for sure, as youtube is related to graphics.
I dont think its about drivers.. it have lags just when it downloading (buffering) video... it have nothing to do with video drivers..
It's related with video graphics, especially with video driver, because when you set to the low quality the lag is missing. I thing that internet connection doesn't concern the lag, because I've tried with fast internet and the lag also exists. If HTC create more suitable driver for Youtube, like CorePlayer, the lag will vanish.
This is NO driver issue.
When the Video is completely loaded in High Quality, there is no lag!
So this cant be related to the videodriver, it hast something to do with buffering and internet connection!!
well .. thats what i said.. nobody reads it seems
yes and nobody seems to really care about this, because this problem exits since the beginning of touch hd and there is no solution to this i know of
Guys, i have tried 3 ROMs already offered here, like 21884 the stock GSM and the stripped GSM,, but all has the same issue .. the mp3 playback stutters almost in every song that will play.. either putting the mp3 internally or using an SD card.. still stutters.. Is there something wrong with the hardware itself?..
on a fresh soft reset, check out how much ram you have. i usually have from 58-60 mb free. it may be the roms, otherwise make sure that all other programs are closed out. when i play songs, every once in a while it skips for a few milliseconds, but it is not too noticable.
cheers
Does this happen constantly or every 60 seconds? If the latter, disable the screen saver - it's a known bug of Treo Pro.
its working now
Yeah ,, it was actually the screen saver.. i should have noticed it right after
But thanks a lot for the help.. That was a good one..

Hello,
My music player ( pre-installed in Milestone 2 UK retail ) go freeze sometimes, especially after a song finished.
This happened randomly and not so frequently, sometime music player works perfect even I played all songs ( 80+ songs ). So I don't know whether a solution really works immediately.
After the music player freezed, I cannot operate any thing in the player interface, just force close the player in process manager, restart the player, then I can't play songs anymore ( freeze again ) .
And, I can't start any SD-related apps like video players and some games ( like Asphalt 6 ). But I can copy/cut files in the file manager.
Remount SD card or reboot the phone, everything backs to normal.
Is this the microSD's problem?
I tried different ways to format it but never solve the problem, and, Watching movies/Playing games goes well. I also try to replace the music playing libs with Droid X's (http://yuanjie.name/entry/milestone-2-mp3-crackling-playback-issue-solved), but music player freeze again last night.
I have no idea what happened.
Thanks in advance.
Try an alternative music player such as WinAmp or PowerAmp.
Check if your problem persists.

Thank you very much!
I'm try PowerAMP now, I really enjoy this powerful app.
I'll give a feedback if it doesn't freeze after several days.
This looks like SD Card issue. New player won't help IMO. Try testing on another dard.
I really think it's a kernel problem, or at least a problem with the media scanner. Sadly, I think we'll have to wait for GB update =/

I read the thread, it has some similarities with the problems that waigx and I are facing. Can you open any other application after PowerAMP shuts down? Does it really shuts down or crash (stays in memory but doesn't execute anything)? Can you open a file manager when this happens?
I'm using Cubed as my player - though all other players I tried (default from Motorola, Meridian, PowerAMP, WinAmp) behaved exactly the same.
Sometimes the player keeps on thinking it is still playing (i.e. track progress is moving without sound), but usually it just ends up with ANR. All other applications [that I need] seem to work fine after this. I do seem to remember Goggles and Camera not responding after a crash, but they crash on their own anyways, so can't really put blame on music player crashing.
A couple of times I did have a case where I couldn't open up SD card anymore, but I've gotten so used to this (8 hours of work+music with 2-3 crashes [or more?] every day) that I stopped trying - just reboot and continue where I left off.
The crashes happen around the same time (but not exact) - around lunch, then at around 3-4pm. Sometimes it also crashes when I'm on my way home ~6-7pm. I think it is somewhat related to power management - I notice it crashes more often as the battery is going down (although I do charge pretty much every night) and there's that "standby called" log message. I did try various battery settings with no luck - any suggestions what I could try more?
There were also a couple of times where I would just leave it at rest after a crash, then start Angry Birds (seemed to reset media/sound system or something), or just wait 15-30 minutes and the sound would come back and the player would unfreeze after a force close and everything would work fine. Until the next crash, that is.
I'll try the remount SD trick and I'll double check the file manager the next time it does this - presumably just after lunch on Monday
I freezed the media scanner with Titanium Backup and scanned music media with PowerAMP, but I had the same problem afterwards... Looks like a deeper problem or a problem with the sd card

This thing has worked on my gf's milestone 2 ... but I am not sure if it will work for you ...
1.) Backup ur device/settings/messages etc
2.) Factory reset the device
3.) Sign in your motoblur a/c after factory reset
Immediately after that
4.) Open connected Music Player .. press menu button and find the options for tunewiki lyrics/covert art downloader ... uncheck all of those
5) Settings->DataManager-> somewhere u will find similar options as above .. disable all of those
Basic Idea is to completely diasble all sort of data that the connected Music Player will ever need ....
Sorry, I could not give you the exact Menu operations because I dont have the device with right now... But it works if u r ready to do the factory reset...
You will actually like the Connected Music Player after this because it has a nice shoutcast integration and neither does it crash so often like Winamp...
Also as far as I know the bug with the Connected Music Player is such that Music in all sort of other players including Winamp also stops working ..
Tell me if it works

My Goggles and Camera also always crashed long time ago, but your problems is really stranger than mine.
I think you should WIPE your phone ( don't forget backup data before it ).
Before I flashed the Argen2Stone ROM, I suffered from the same problem. The CMP froze spontaneously.
Now - after using A2S - I never recognized such a behavior again.

Hey anupash,
I really appreciate for your detailed answer, I was bought PowerAMP. Even thought it cost $4.99, but I think it worth that.
I delete up CMP in the file system, my phone runs well in these days. Players like Winamp, realone are using system decode libs, so they also meet some problems I guess.
Connected Music Player have a great integration with the whole system, but I need data sync and album-arts.
Thank you again, If I meet additional problems I'll post in this thread later.
Best regards.

File manager seemed to work - at least for browsing the folders.
Unmounting SD killed the player. Remounting it back and trying to play anything made the phone reboot on it's own. Go figure.

Thanks for the tip Sadly, I don't have time for this now - as I mentioned - I pretty much got used to it constantly crashing... But I'll probably do that if the upcoming (hopefully soon...) MotoEurope update doesn't help.
Im having this problem also. Random freezes at playback... using winamp there´s no problem...
So I got an awesome 32gb nexus for Christmas! I love it, and installed a custom kernel and rooted it already on 4.2.1.. I'm using the latest version of m-kernel. I noticed in the battery stats that mediaserver is using quite a bit of battery, usually 7-13%. Is this normal for the nexus? I researched this and saw that it can be caused by w corrupted media file, but I don't have any music or videos on the tablet so that doesn't make much sense... What do you guys think?
From what I understand its media scanning through your sdcard for media files. If you have a lot of files (nandroid backups) it takes along time to complete. You can force close media storage when its running usually after boot.
I get mediaserver showing high usage whenever I play games or watch movies. Based on that I think it has something to do with sound playing.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda premium

It doesn't let me force close it.... I don't have any nandroid files or medeia, so I'm confused..
I think all these posts about scaning files are wrong:
http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=37298
and only causing confusion.
The media server is the process that generally handles playback of audio and video. This is the one listed in the screenshots above as "Media server", "Mediaserver" and "Serveur multimedia".

It's normal.
Turn off
Touch Sounds
Screen Lock sound
Notifications to silent
Keyboard clicks off
And you will slow the usage of mediaserver to a craw. It's really not a huge deal and not a big battery drain. Any time your device plays audio mediaserver usage is affected.
Read up on using a ".nomedia" file. Creating these in directories will tell the Mediascanner not to scan in that directory. Placing one in your usbstorage directory would probably cut Mediascanners usage in half.

My MediaServer doesn't even show on my Nexus 7
When i think about it i started using cover and disabled lockscreen when my issue started so i will try to use lockscreen again (even tough it is a hustle).
So in my cause it seams to be cause by My little pony from gameloft (and maybe with conjunction with no lock screen). Anyway i lost ma game save after game upgraded to the new version so i won't be playing it (again) and after uninstall it seam OK.
Overheating on my Galaxy S4.
I have a Galaxy S4 for about a year, I have this problem almost since I bought it, but it appears and reappears, so I let it go.
My Galaxy S4, using WhatsApp Music and the CPU temperature rises to just using these programs 45-50ºC
Using only the poweramp the instrument reaches 65c for no reason.
Using browser is hopeless, the device rises to 50-70 degrees and finally restarts or shuts down.
When I bought the unit in the first week I realized that he was heating a lot, but did not reach this temperature (50-70) normally.
I read in various forums that the normal temperature of the Galaxy S4 units were 35-56c
Recently, I downloaded a few albums of music and some pictures on my phone that day he shot and started this strange behavior, and following the same steps bellow, the problem still persists.
I already own a Galaxy Note and I have witnessed the bug "AndroidMediaScanner".
I did all the steps (exeto formatting the MicroSD, I recently formatted to exFAT SD) Until I checked the status of the reading process of media using the Android ADB, there was nothing abnormal ..
Even without the memory card, few files in SD (just applications) the problem still appears.
What do you think? It may be a hardware problem that requires replacement?
It may be the battery?
It may be the ROM • (when the OmegaROM use a series of modules Xposed)
Recently reinstalled the ROM and the problem still persists.
I read in a blog that the DS Battery Saver could be giving conflict with the manager's native battery used in the Galaxy S4, I uninstalled the program, yet the problem persists warming.
Connected to the USB temperature suddenly increases to 65c without any reason or use.
What recommend?
Sorry for the English. I used Google translator.
Maybe i attach prints.
My initial thought would be to get a new battery. Becaus it jumps so drastically when you start charging it. You could also check your battery connections. Make sure they are free from dust and corrosion.

You have to find the "service" that is turning in background....
If you mind it is the AndroidMediaScanner, I can say from experience ( it was killing my battery in less than 5 hours)
I stopped this issue (flaw) by cleaning one by one my Music folders and deleting those empty or having no music file in it ( that sometime comes when you clean a directory from the music player interface) .
then my phone turning back to normal temperature state.

I said in the text that has nothing wrong with MediaScanner Android. I used the Android Debug Bridge to verify this and it appears to be normal.
The application showed 10% CPU usage when the unit was starting.
I used OS Monitor app (it shows up the processes of the Linux kernel and user) in order to find some buggy process that was doing it.
I removed 4GB of external memory file and checked the Android Debug Bridge MediaScanner if the process had been stuck at some file storage.
There was no error in both stores.
I witnessed this primary failure of the Android system twice on my old Galaxy Note.
Thxz for reply.
whats the solution
