TomTom navigation not working on QHD - Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, I came from the Note3 to the Note4, but now I cannot use my TomTom navigation anymore. I read it's because of the QHD display of the Note4.
Does anyone knows a workaround (for now I don't want to root my device)?
Thanks!

Do you mean you have been able to download/purchase app from playstore and install into GN4? Surely I would have thought it should come back as "device incompatible"?
If that is the case then you should contact Tomtom for a refund and let them know they are selling the software to unsupported devices.
EDIT: It seems Tomtom does allow purchase of the app, I havent purchased but if it doesnt work or not compatible you should have no problem getting a refund.

I did purchase the app and I could download it on my GN4. Can ask for a refund, problem is that I 'love' this app. Did some more research, somewhere stated that it is possible in the multi-window view. Just can't get it in multi-window, don't know how to get it in my quick list (when long pressing the back button).

Nobody knows how to put it in multi-window view or is it just not possible.

Cheers,

I also contacted TT support. They already refunded my services (speed and traffic), but they won't refund the app itself because I already bought it a year ago for my Note3. Their statement is: the Note4 was a year ago not available and we make the app, not a phone. They don't know if or when the app will be updated...
As I said they refunded my services within an hour.

I know it's not TomTom, (it using the same maps though) but Sygic can be good temporary solution, it works on the Note 4 AFAIK. Sygic went from paid to free navigation with in-app sales (only in 2D though , for 3D navigation you have to pay), just a tip hope you can use it
I been using Sygic for 3 years now and I'm satisfied , bummer that I paid 45 euro for europe 3 years ago .
regards

Thanks, just installed the demo. Looks good. Might be a change I buy sygic instead of waiting for TT.

disappointed
After buying a Note 4 I tried to get refund for my premium services, this is what Tom-Tom support told me:

All they do is pointing to the rules instead of showing some understanding.
Off looking for another brand of navigation.

Edit jan 10th 2015:
Downloaded the free app 'here' from Nokia, it's a nice app and totally free.
Bye bye Tomtom.

Tomtom still doesn't answer direct questions about the compatibility with QHD screens. They still won't say IF, and when yes, WHEN the Android app will be updatet. I asked for a clear statement on the Tomtom Google Play Store pages that QHD screens are not supported. This to prevent owners of compatible devices who plan a QHD device update in the near future from buying Tomtom. Their attitude in the reply mail really made me angry. They were pointing fingers at Google.

Well if you look at it from a hosting point of view, as soon as people get wind that you can get for free what some people have been charging for on e-bay, what are they going to do?
I am assuming that the main reason for the charge is for bandwidth charges, seeing as the rest of the site is freely accessible.
If you think about it, it's not a bad price to pay, especially as it's a hell of alot cheaper than a fine or loosing your licence / job.
Now all we need for HGV driver like me, is a really good comprehensive database of low bridges and a way to make TT avoid certain Poi's.

GPS- potential stupid question

gps is free, as it is a signal as for example radio broadcast (the box where music comes out, and every hour someone reads out what happened in the world ), that is only received. however, there are many applications that use online-stored maps (google maps e.g.). this might produce some costs on your account, if you don't have a flatrate or a data plan.
brilliant, i have a data plan so i should be ok there, que using my htc hero to get into shape for the summer, thanks kendog
Not such a stupid question.
A national newspaper recently ran an article saying because there were so many GPS devices, the system would soon be full up! It was soon exposed as junk by 'badscience' website but not before they had already published!

Co-pilot 8 Australiasia maps finally avaliable for purchase!

Finally! Just received reply from ALK that Australia / NZ maps are finally avaliable for purchase. Checked CoPilot Central and can see a Australiasia link now.
http://www.alk.eu.com/buynow/cart.asp?Action=AddItem&SKU=CP8-DIG-AUNZ-WEB
Edit: weird, the maps don't appear when logged into Central. it does show up if you're not logged in though.
Purchasing Copilot 8
How do you buy Copilot 8?
I contacted them and they said not sold in Au.
Maps are no good without CP
You click on that link I posted. That's the one the Copilot support person gave me when I asked the same question.
Oddly enough it seems you can't actually purchase via Central (yet)... as I said earlier the "Australiasia" map option disappears from the Copilot Store section as soon as you log in. Purchasing through the link I posted does indeed work however; I just bought and activiated my Copilot for Australia maps successfully last night
Just watch out for the key issue. I purchased the Au maps on Monday and found that the key was accepted by CoPilot but every time I closed it and re-opened I had to re-enter the key. Contacted support and they said that the key I had was the wrong one (for upgrades only) so they generated me a new one. Just be aware of that...
Do the maps cover the whole of AUS, not just the major centres?
Can you please check and see if places like Broome, Darwin and Karratha, Jabiru are in the AUS maps?
Finally!

For the locations you listed: yes, yes, yes and yes. I tested by punching in the locations into the route planner (starting with Broome). Total trip time from Broome => Jabiru via Darwin and Karratha was ~7100km, 101hrs

Great work AussieBum! I wasn't going to register mine until they'd officially released the maps. I'm usually a TomTom guy but I really quite like the way CoPilot looks/works on the HD2.
$100 for the upgrade version?
It's great that you're grabbing the Australian maps. If it was $30 (as i think they were offering for the UK) I might consider it, but $100 seems a bit steep... especially when my copy of CoPilot 7 (from my old TyTN II) works just fine.
Might try version 8 when I head to the UK next.
Updating the maps would be good though... was kinda annoying to have to use google maps to search for the Merthyr Bowls Club last weekend. Having the HD2's car kit system go for CoPilot 7 rather than 8 (as it does by default) would be good too.
Don't know if any of you are grinning like I am when you see a specialist GPS unit advertised that has a smaller screen than our phone
Still waiting for the Wm version software update which was supposed to come out at the same time as the new maps. Still waiting for the other lives services to come on-line such as live traffic updates

Galaxy s GT-i9000 [europe] with Ndrive 11

Dear members:
I have Ndrive 11[gps software] in my galaxy s ,if you have any questions about it please feel free to ask away.
pros:
new interface, simplified
super fast gps lock ,less than 5 seconds!
Weather forecast
new share feature for facebook ,favorites,my location, etc
support for foursqare.
google places search within app.
cons:
The above features in blue text crash the app when trying to log in,not a deal breaker but never the less i would like it to work.
But compared to the versions that i have in windows mobile devices it is miles better.
greetings! i have Ndrive 10, i can't find Ndrive 11 on android market...how does it work? can i upgrade using the same maps or i have to pay again? thanks!

it is available to Italy, just use the Ndrive word in the market not ndrive 11,
a list of contries\regions will come up.
about the facebook problem etc....
Ndrive support just told me that a fix will be out inthe coming days.
lucky for me a use ndrive 10 in other device, but it should be an upgrade option, i must stress that when i bougth the app it was not listed on ndrive website yet.
how do u like ndrive? im thinking of trying it
i see, this time main program is given together with maps...again they should give an upgrade option with a discount to whom already bought Ndrive 10 (in my case i bought all europe maps). i will not give my money for ndrive 11 to pay again for ndrive 12 and so on wtf. thanks for your answers OP.

To be honest the reason i got it is that Ndrive is the only gps software for android that offer the most features at the moment plus it is the only one that has maps for the island i come from, Madeira.
personaly a love Igo8 but so far is only available for windows mobile.
I also trying Aura sygic, now this software is allot more polished than ndrive but it does not have the google feature that i love in ndrive.
Sorry ... but IGo MyWay is available for Android. Try a search for "iGOMyWay v8.4.2.139242 for Android"
I've using NDrive (10) on my SE Xperia X10i since last summer.
I find the gui a bit clumsy, but still I think it's ok.
I agree with regards to their upgrade policy!
I received the following answer today:
Dear Costumer,
Thank you for contacting NDrive Support.
While acquiring a NDrive product, the customer acknowledges that is acquiring a life-time licence for the product as it is presented in the date of purchase. The licence is only valid to a unique device (non-transmissible) and any map update or software upgrade may have costs associated to it.
We will soon have available a free V11 upgrade (software only), which will be available through Android Market. When it is available, you will be notified on your device.
Cumprimentos / Best Regards

To be honest, I think this sucks! I was NOT under the impression that this was the case. In fact, since I'm quite certain I won't be using the same smartphone in a year, this is completely absurd!

That is a ridiculous policy and I'm not sure it is legal. When you buy software independent of hardware you should then have the right run it on whatever device you want. You should be allowed to reactivate the software when you get a new phone. I would never buy Ndrive if that is the way they operate.
I've tried Aura, Mobile Maps and Ndrive but the one i prefer is Copilot live, it just seems more stable than the rest.
Good, I'd like to know how to use the Ndrive folder on the SD, since many use maps, maps have 6GB of internal memory to occupy! Does elguem can help me!?
greetings
Directory bind app, somewhere here in the xda will solve your problem.

Not for me thanks! Too many adverse comments posted here and in Play store. In the absence of TomTom it has to be CoPilot Live for Android.

Totally agree! just ignore him his opinion is worth nothing anyway
Android pay is as useless as Apple Pay since the merchant needs to have a contactless machine. Samsung Pay, on the other hand will be more useful as it can be used virtually anywhere. Plus, I'm very disappointed by the very small number of banks supporting it in the UK.. No Barclays, no Santander, no RBS/Natwest etc...
bbc.co.uk/news/technology-35874420
According to the BBC article from yesterday:-
Google has said that it will extend Android Pay to the UK "in the next few months".
Guys
Android Pay is finally live in the UK and can be downloaded from the Play Store (if it doesnt show up on the one on the phone go to web-version one)
At the moment only couple of banks are participating but i can say i installed and used successfully at Waitrose with my First Direct Card
One thing to keep in mind - is that for some users (esp Samsung S7/Edge users) when you try to add a card it tells you that Android Pay cannot verify you are using a legit version of android. This happens to un-rooted users and is due to the DPI change; as you remember you can change DPI in Samsung Display Options - if it is set up to condensed it wont work - so you need to revert back to Standard - then add the cards and then you can revert back and use your android pay
Have fun everyone
and lets hope more bank will be used soon (eg AMEX)

Not sure when Samsung pay will come to UK - probably in Autumn most likely
Android Pay is easy to setup and use - as long as you keep the native DPI on your phone (if you use the condensed option it wont work)
i like the condensed DPI so i am not going to use AP for the time being (also since i do most of my transactions on my Amex and its not supported)
hi guys can anybody tell me can i be able to pay with Android pay if the phone doesnt have NFC chip

Android Pay does not work on Rooted Device.
Mine is rooted, TWRP
