I personally haven't had the issue and I'm on stock..but have you tried a different rom to see if it persists? have you checked http://forum.xda-developers.com/ver.../rom-alliancerom-build-3-rom-control-t2818632 on it? Or maybe http://forum.xda-developers.com/ver.../safely-upgrade-root-4-4-4-nha-volte-t2879348

When I rooted and flashed any ROM I didn't get any voicemail notifications and I had the same issues you have with visual voicemail. Once I went back to stock non rooted 4.4.4 I haven't had any problems at all. I hope someone can get this figured out so I can go back to a custom ROM.

Thanks for the info, i was afraid this was the case, does anybody know if there is an alternative to Verizon visual voicemail? I thought i read somewhere about a Google visual voicemail alternative that works very well

I was on the phone with Verizon tech support for the same issue yesterday. I was told because I haven't upgraded the NI2, VVM will not work. Don't know if that's your problem...

I followed the guide for VOLTE and rooted 4.4.4 and am now on 4.4.4 NI2 and rooted and vorizon visual voicemail is now working fine for me once again.

how to fix that worked for me
call your voice mail and turn off/disable the notification then call again r-enable/turn it back on.

Verizon Visual Voicemail will not work if you're not on 4.4.4, unless you pay for the monthly service. If you've already updated to 4.4.4, basic visual voicemail is working and is free. An alternative would be YouMail.

Verizon visual voice mail and 9009 error

I am trying to get Verizon Visual voicemail set up on my phone. I had it working with True2.1. After upgrading to True2.7, I now get an error code of 9009.
Here are some things that I have tried:
Turning off Wi-Fi
Turning off my Network Extender
Removing /Installing the VVM app, clearing data along the way
Clean install of True2.7 with just the VVM app
Using the build.prop from True2.1 on True2.7
Calling Vz Tech support
Contacting the ROM developer
Posting my problem on the thread for the True ROM
None of these approaches work. Im at a loss on what to try next. Unfortunately I'm back on True2.1 where VVM works.
Any suggestions from the XDA community?
Googling the error code returned this:
https://community.verizonwireless.com/thread/830429
*73 undoes any call forwarding options (conditional or otherwise) and returns the account to the default forwarding setting (which is to voicemail).
Thanks for the suggestion and the search. I cleared the app data for VVM. Dialed *73 from my phone. Turned off Wi-Fi and disconnected my Network Extender. I than tried reinstalling VVM and it fails like before. Reports error code 9009.
What is really strange is that an earlier version of the True ROM works fine. I worked on True2.1 and fails on True2.7. So strange.
I would love to find the cause of this problem. Any other suggestions from the XDA community?
My guess is there's a service missing that allows for the vvm functionality. I'm running version 2.6.2 of the same rom but will likely switch over to stock one 6.0.1 comes out. Will then debloat using titaniumbackup.

Could be the text messages it uses to setup the voicemail box are getting blocked. Are you using a non standard text app?

Im using Textra as my messaging app. Seems to be fine when running True2.1. Only fails when running True2.7. Same messaging app with the 2 different ROMs.

Are you using Verizon Visual Voice Mail with True 2.6.2??
For the time being, I switched for Google Voice/Hangout to handle my voicemail. I am back on True 2.7

I'm not. I'm on sprint. I actually think you're better off with google voice as your messages are retained between carriers. With carrier VVM if you ever switched, messages would be lost.
Another option is youmail.

Verizon Visual Voicemail?

I asked in the LeeDroid thread, then realized its probably better asked here instead.
Anyone have a working APK for the Verizon Visual Voicemail app for the HTC10? Once I flash a custom ROM such as LeeDroid (and, I assume any other custom ROM?) there's no longer any app for VVM.
In fact, as far as I can tell, there is no voicemail app at all; so anytime someone leaves me a VM, I'm not getting notified about it. The only way for me to check VM's is manually press 1 each time on the dialer.
Anyone else on VZW having this issue?

Uh, that's only the $3/mo VVM service. The basic VVM service (which is free with all phones that have Advanced Calling features) isn't going anywhere.
VVM
After July 8th, the only thing available will be *86.
It won't show in your messages as a playable message anymore.

Sure Did read it.
It says only *86 will be available.
That is my point: you won't any longer get playable messages stored in your M9 as before. You will have to dial *86.

No?

What's going away is the $2.99 option.
Look under "Basic Visual Voice Mail (Included)"
App and *86
Again, read the link you posted. The first line:
On 7/8/2016, the $2.99 Visual Voice Mail service will be discontinued. Some older smartphones and basic phones that support it won't be able to use the service.
This is only impacting some older smartphones and basic phones.
The HTC 10 is newer and a smartphone, and is therefore unaffected because it qualifies for the free basic VVM.
I have the voicemail app n my viper rom here but it takes the 2.99 premium upgrade.
Is the new message+ app what your looking for? I think that had the VVM also. I had it saved somewhere but for the life of me I cant find it now. ill pull it later cause I'm going to back to stock to test something out.

The Voicemail app and Message+ are two different things.
The Voicemail app defaults you to a free trial of the $2.99 premium VVM, but you can downgrade straight away to the free VVM service from the menu.
The Message+ app can be downloaded from the Play Store (search for Verizon Messages).

I figured that out after I searched the play store. I have never seen this basic VVM cause I never used the stuff, I have the app installed but never use , I also thought when I did start up the message app it did have a tab for the voicemail but again it was not there.
My voice-mail goes through my HTC messages app. It is a tab/slide over in the app

Is it set up like the m9 where the messages app has 3 tabs sms, mms, and voicemail because when I tap voicemail it takes me to my text messages with no voicemails after I installed those apks. That's is the messages apk from the Verizon version right? I think there is something else probably missing to make it work properly.

correct, i have no idea what else you need to get going though.
It has to be some type of file that joins the two together.

I am experiencing the same thing, after just switching to LeeDroid.
I tried downloading and installing the .APK file referenced in this thread. That seems to work somewhat, but when I launch the app I just get a message that says "Connecting to Visual Voicemail...", and then nothing happens. I wind up having to back out of the app.
Any ideas? Thanks!
Then there was this ... Running LeeDroid

T-Mobile visual voicemail

anyone here able to disable/enable visual voicemail while rooted? for some reason I'm having issues enabling/disabling while not getting any notifications from vvmail and I'm wondering if it's because I'm rooted. I know the T-Mobile Device Unlock app doesn't work while rooted, so I'm wondering if the vvmail app behaves the same... anyone know?

yep, I generally check updates several times a day and update manually... nothing for the vvmail app. Looks like it might be something on T-Mo's end since I've already tried uninstalling, reinstalling, even wiped the device to go unrooted and it's still having the same issues. I'll have to see what happens in the next few days...
T-Mobile voicemail
Stock Roms won't allow you to change voicemail number, but what you can do in phone app-settings additional call options and change the number to forward too when unanswered or there is 3 options. What I did to totally bypass T-Mobile garbage voicemail for Google Voice which is far superior and free. The new Google Voice update is freaking awesome btw. Hope helps.

Visual Voicemail.

To whom it may concern; I don't know what happened but for whatever reason my visual voicemail no longer works. I'm enrolled in the Phone Beta program but I'm just now experiencing this issue. Another funny thing about this issue is a day after this happened, my carrier sent me a text about installing their latest version of visual voicemail which I've never used. Has anyone else experienced this problem and if so, how did you correct it?
I've also received a similar text message from my carrier (TMO) but i haven't had any issue receiving voicemails.

I still receive my voicemails, but I can now only listen to them by calling my voicemail box instead of using the on screen visual voicemail as an option.

I use the Visual Voicemail on only one phone (my old G3). With the latest update it stopped working. Not sure what the deal is. Regular voicemail is okay.
Regarding the text message, they don't seem to give up. On all of my devices I get it. After deleting it I get it again on subsequent reboots. Quite annoying.

I just find it to be strange that a lot of people use a carrier unlocked device to avoid their carriers bloatware. It seems like TMO are trying to force their consumers to use their Visual Voicemail instead of the Visual Voicemail provided by the Google Phone app.

Same issue here, using Metro. So I'm guessing T-Mobile changed something on their end. Ironically, the official Metro visual voicemail app works just fine.
I just blocked the number that kept texting me
Not to mention, now my device status states that it's"locked", which is very strange since this phone is OEM factory unlocked.???.

I spoke with someone from tech support at TMO and according to him, if you don't have a Google Pixel phone, the visual voicemail and the chat features won't work.

Can't activate voicemail on T-Mobile

I went into the stock Phone app to activate my voicemail with T-Mobile, but each time I try I get a "Cannot activate voicemail" error. Did a lot of Googling, and it sounds like a lot of people have run into this. T-Mobile support was useless. I know I can use T-Mobile's Visual Voicemail app, but that would be my Plan B. I've tried installing and then uninstalling the T-Mo voicemail app. Has anybody else run into this and figured out a solution?

Yeah, the stock phone app has built-in visual voicemail
Can't activate either. Even on old phone. The general consensus is they do not allow 3rd party vvm apps with their service.
This comes from someone who called twice, filed a complaint against first, and explained in depth what the issue was, spending 40+ mins on the call.
I'll follow the thread but it seems like you have to use the VVM app.
does att allow you to use your built in vvm client?

I wouldn't expect much in the way of updates on this issue. T-mobile has been disabling built in visual voicemail on Android phones for years with some sort of network side switch. A handful of people have gotten it to work on some unlocked Pixels and maybe one or two other devices, but the results are never reproduceable.

on my last phone (OnePlus 6T) I had to use the T-Mobile application when not rooted. When I had root I was able to get visual voicemail with transcription via the Google (Pixel) Dialer and changing some lines of an xml file in the root directory and also install the Google phone app as a system app.

It's always worked on my pixel phones and I never never thought twice about it until aquiring my oneplus8pro. Now if it's working on pixel by default, I'm assuming there is a way for it to work on Kona, just need to figure it out. Just thought I'd share my opinion & of course if I learn something new, I will report.

That’s pretty lame forcing more spam ware onto us like this. Last built in VVM that worked for me using T-Mobile was with an unlocked USA mode note 9.
