[Q] S4 L720, Rooted and wanting to update ... - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshoot

... to the latest MF9 which is flashing every so often on my notification bar, on the phone.
I've TWRP recovery V2.6, so I'm assuming I download and fastboot the latest firmware (which I can not find), which wipes it clean, re-install TWRP and then what for root?

Really - No one?
I have this update, that everything it flashes, it kicks off the mobile network, which I need as Sprint had me reset the phone with ##72786#. No I have a phone that is unactivated and useless, unless I can get it to NOT think there is an update.
ANYBODY?

[Q] Failed Custom Recovery Update w/ Dandroid 4.4

Phone: Samsung Galaxy S4 ATT I337UCUAMDL
Model Number in settings on 4.4 ROM = GT-I9505G
As the title says, I installed dandroid's newest 4.4 ROM from WICKED v5 4.2.2 and lost root. So I attempted to update my CWM Recovery from Odus 1x to the newest using Odin which failed do to write protected I suppose all though others says that doesnt effect their installs.
Where I'm at:
Cannot boot into recovery, says booting recovery the just reboots and enters Dandroid's ROM w/o root.
I'm now lost and have been reading the forums for hours. Currently downloading STOCK Samsung firmware for my device I337UCUAMDL_I337ATTAMDL_ATT.zip
CASUAL failed.
What do I need to do to get back to WORKING custom recovery w/ rooted dandriod 4.4 kitkat rom. Should I use Odin and flash stock rom then motochopper to root and try to reinstall working CWM recovery?
Please advise best course of action. My phone had been working properly with every ROM I tried before update to 4.4 ROM and attempted CWM recovery update (thinking that would fix my root issue). Thanks all!
If you have a nandroid, and I hope you do, just restore that in your custom recovery. If you don't, then you're going to have to return to stock with odin
Tried motochopper on the phone as it sits and it fails as well.
I have a stock backup but the problem is I no longer have access to any recovery. Guess I'm just gonna have to flash the stock firmware with Odin when its finished downloading and start over.
Just finished Odin flash back to samsung factory firmware. Phone stuck at att world logo on bootup, still can't access recovery. Any ideas?

If you flashed Odin successfully you can get into recovery.
Finally got into recovery it rebooted 3 times but just holding the req. buttons finally got me in.
Back on factory firmware and rooted w/ cwm recovery all back in place properly worrking.
I would like to use the Dandroid 4.4 ROM with this device. When I install am I going to lose root again and if so, how I do I get it back on this device since the model in the settings is going to change from I337 to I9505G after installing this ROM?
Figured it all out last night, re-flashed Dandroid's latest ROM which still caused me to loose root, then flashed SuperSU 1.51 instead of 1.80 and regained root. All is right in the world now.

Hey, if you dont mind me asking where did you get the 1.51 zip to flash? I'm having a similar issues with same ROM where i lost root but have recovery access.
Thanks
Update: Found the file. Flashed it. Root is back. Have you let market update it automatically? If so did you lose root afterwords?

[Q] Need help unrooting

Hi, I rooted my phone because I was tired of all the bloatware. But I never actually got around to do anything else with my device (I didn't flash any custom rom)
So my question is. How can I do a full unroot of my Samsung Galaxy S4 gti9505. I want to be able to update to kitkat, and that is not possible with my rooted device. I tried to do an SuperSU unroot, and that removed root from my phone, yet, it still says that my device has been modified.
After you did your unroot. You have to do a system reset in order for things to get back to normal. So backup your data and go for it then update.

full format (boot, cache, system) and flash a firmware stock.

[Q] Cannot Update to Lolipop from NK2 kernel and cannot flash anything with Odin

Hello guys! I am having issues trying to update my Verizon S5 to Lolipop. I had been previously rooted and since uninstalled safestrap and SuperSU. When I tried to update to lolipop, it would fail and not update at all. I factory reset my phone to see if that work. It didn't. Then I had remembered that I had uninstalled a ton of bloatware previously and I might have accidentally uninstalled something that the phone needs to update. So I hooked up my phone to my computer and tried to use odin and install the factory NK2 firmware. I put my phone in download mode and it did start downloading but it didn't flash it at all and just rebooted. What should I do?
Thanks.

The firmware isn't what you should use by itself. Try flashing an nk2 stock tar, factory reset from recovery after flashing, and then try updating.

[Q] Can't get non-stock rom to boot

I recently bought a Defense Mobile (Radio Shack Prepaid, on store closing sale) GT-i9300i with the intentions on repurposing it on my ATT plan.
It presently has the ___AND1 (I can't remember the rest) baseband, 4.3 Stock rom, TTT region (trinidadtobango).
Anyway, I was able to use towelroot V1 to root it, install superSU from google play, intall superSU binary, ODIN TWRP or CWM, and boot to such , but then, after installing CM 11 or 12 (the unofficial ones by Rox), it reboots to the download screen, "normal boot failed"
FWIW I can ODIN the factory image back and then it boots back up, albeit 100% vanilla.
Any idea what needs to happen to make said roms work? Or did I somehow get one with a locked bootloader?
I went ahead and took the OTA update to 4.4.4... and rooted that. Same result, the only change being the installs from TWRP show as failed and the bootloader locks to the point of download mode not even working from button combo. However, I could get into TWRP and reboot to download mode from there, which did work, so I could odin over the newer image.
What gives?

Phone Stuck On Splashscreen

My phone is a verizon gs5 SM-G900V and I tried to root it but something (I honestly have no idea) went wrong and now it is stuck on the splash screen. I have tried everything i thought of, doing a factory reset, clearing the cache partition, I tried reinstalling the stock rom using odin but of course because there was no root and the bootloader is locked, I can't reinstall. I tried applying updates using SD no dice. I am able to access the bootloader and the and the android recovery menu if that will help at all. I don't know every acronym/term because i'm still fairly new to these terms so any help will be greatly appreciated.
I'm guessing you are on lollipop because you say you can't downgrade to KitKat aka stock
so what you should do is go to Sammobile and download either lollipop official firmware bok3 or Pb1.
then install via odin in either ap or pda slot
with the phone in download mode after that wait for the Phone to boot then set it up
then use ok3 root method by Jr Kruse on xda it's a sticky in the s5 verizon forum to get root
