Just recently, my phone (and my GF's) started looping randomly. It could be during standby, Netflix, anything. After hours troubleshooting (and well over 5 full erases), I discovered it was related when I had a non original battery on. It was strange, as it worked for months without a hitch. I tried multiple batteries, and they all led to bootlooping sooner or later. Common denominator is we installed latest Omega. But we both went back to stock via Odin flash, but the problem still persisted. Even tried switching kernels and playing with the voltages, rule out excessive voltage use or something, but nada. We have the W8 Canadian variant. any of you guys have had anything similar happen to you?

Hey guys,
I'm having a bad battery drain problem with my Touch HD. The phone will drain itself in less than 6hrs, even if it is sitting on a table with all radios turned off, freshly hard-reset, doing absolutely nothing.
Initially I thought it may be an issue with the ROM I was using, but flashing an original HTC ROM didn't help. I thought the radio may be the cause (even though it wasn't in use), but flashing different radios didn't help. I considered the SPL might be the problem, so I reflashed a stock one, didn't help.
I've even tried brand new batteries, but they all drain out like you wouldn't believe. It doesn't matter whether there is a SIM or microSD card in it or not, drain is the same.
What I have noticed is the bottom half of the back gets slightly warm, just sitting on a table doing nothing. This is not something I noticed before this problem began.
Can anyone suggest a solution? Or is it simply defective...
Switch to flight mode and see if drain persists. If it does, then some software must be preventing the device from going to sleep mode.
If you are confident there's no such software installed, might as well be a hardware issue...
If no drain when in flight mode, then you may have wi-fi/BT/wireless connections always on causing this.
I'm almost 100% certain, since it does it on several different ROMs (including stock ones), several different radios, all with the phone in flight mode, all straight after a hard reset. Even so, it shouldn't do it simply connected to the 3G network, an Xperia X1 connected to the same network sitting next to it doesn't experience anywhere near the drain of this thing.
Looks very much like a battery issue..
However have you tried charging it from wall socket rather than USB (USB seems to incompletely charge HD - though it may say 100% battery actually charges up to ~70% only).
spoilt battery?
I had this problem after using videocall only a week after getting the device (this was about 4 weeks ago)
The steps i took (which i got from here) was once the battery went down to 10% I turned off the phone and charged it to full from the power point (not via usb). Then I did the htc troubleshoot test (http://www.htc.com/www/faqs.aspx?p_id=179&cat=80&id=85780) and it seemed fine form then on. But in the tips section in here, its good to discharge and recharge your phone the first week or two you get it, I'm still doing it
i'm losing almost two percent battery per minute on my tab, what the heck?
Its so fast i'll have to keep this post brief since i'm posting from it.
Already checked the battey break down, screen is vastly dominant but its been off.
Power cycle? How long has it been happening? What firmware are you using, stock or rom?

Not sure what you mean by powe cycle, but i just took it off the charger after a 6 hour charge and the problem persists
android version is 3.1,
2.6.36.4 cyanogenmod+root @pershoot-ubuntu1 for the firmware
Rom is starburst.hmj37.uekme p7510ukeme
My battery has gone from 100 to 70 since i started typing this
By powercycle I mean have you turned the Tablet totally off and then back on again?
Have you checked the ROM's thread in the Dev forum for people with the same issue?
How long has it been since you made any changes to your tablet? I'm talking about updating the ROM, installing the ROM, changing kernels, etc.
Unless your battery or some other component in your tablet has gone bad the problem is probably due to something in the ROM or kernel you're using. If a reboot(powercycle) does not fix it your first stop should be the Starburst thread or wherever you got your ROM from. If it's not a hardware failure you're pretty much guaranteed to not be the only person having the problem.
Is there a known issue on the rom with respect to battery-calibration like in the original Samsung 3.1/3.2 ROMs? There is a thread somewhere here how to calibrate your battery-reading, just search for it.
May not be what is happening to you, maybe it is. Is the percieved drain constant up 'till the end'?
more data;
powercycling didn't do anything, and neither did resetting battery statistics either
the reports of starburst rom having battery draining properties are....mixed..
most seemed to be solve by uninstalling a certain app (all the apps suggested are ones i do not own), and it seems all these cases of battery drain are FAR less severe than mine
Hi All,
I have a rooted/custom ROMmed N7.
For some reason, most of the Custom Roms that I'm using just makes my N7 SOD. It usually happens if I have in activity for more than 2 hours but I also had some right after a few minutes. I've used different ROMs with different kernel and it was all the same. So it usually happens more than 5 times a day.
Now it came to me that my N7 could be defective since I can't tell if it was shutting down or SOD. I never had heat issues with so I don't think it is shutting down because of heat.
Is there a log somewhere that I could find that would say that my N7 had an SOD or a shutdown?
Thanks!

a sod is when tbe device is still alive nut the screen wont turn on, kind of like a coma. a last_kmsg will document a shutdown or reboot, but not a sod(since a sod doesnt reset).
My phone has always had this problem, but since Kitkat it seems to be happening more frequently.
It happens when
1. Phone is on charge over night
2. When the phone sits idle for a long period of time.
I've tried several roms/kernels but the problem always persists, I had a nosey around but couldn't find anything in specifics. I tried an that solves the problem when it is on charge well it seems to work it happened a lot less but still happened.
What causes this?
Are there any solid fixes?

making the lower CPU frequency a little higher solves the issue. i've been having this exact same thing.
so instead of setting the minimum CPU freq to 384000, make it a little higher, maybe 486000 or 594000...

Hi, did you manage to fix this by raising the minimum CPU speed? I have the same issue on KitKat 4.4.2
I suspected it could be an app (possibly G+ which is known to drain the battery). Others have suggested it is to do with the wifi policy and the phone locking when the wifi disconnects or reconnects. I am use CATACLYSM ROM now and it seems more prevalent on this than it was on Stock, so I may simply switch back and monitor. Cheers.
Hello guys, I'm struggling with a G935F that's been having weird boot and battery failures in the past months, and now sometimes it won't even boot. Phone has been bought in 2016 so it has no warranty.
I've flashed it using '7.0 stock ROM' through Odin, then factory and cache wipe, but nothing changed. 5 days later I could got into the OS, installed firmware update and again this "infinite bootloop and suddenly working again", so frustrating.
More Context:
1) Battery drain anomaly started 3 or 4 months ago, with overheating and a boot loop. Sometimes it got frozen at the "SAMSUNG" logo, sometimes at "SAMS...". But at least, after a few attempts, I could got into the phone.
2) Last weeks, the same issue, charged the batery at 100%, and started to loop-->∞...'til it was 0%. 20% recharge then black screen with blue led until the battery was completely depleted. Full recharge and misteryously started to work.
3) The same as point 1, but couldn't boot or do anything though, so I decided to flash it with the stock rom.
4)Tried 2 different stock ROM's, but the same as point (1) . Today the phone finally got into the OS and it's working fine.
I'll install Superman ROM with Notorious Kernel to see if this behaviour changes, but since this phone isn't mine, I want to take advice from you guys: Is this behaviour a software or hardware problem? Phone used to get overheated but now it's not happening, It's working fine, I'm doing a start-up and shut down cycle to see if the problem occurs at certain battery level. And everything is going fine. So if you need more specific information I think i can run anything safetly.
I have tried 3 different ROM's. Minotaur, Superman and Stock. Customized ROM's won't even install, phone freezes with weird lines, as if it were a GPU fail, it gets really hot until the battery is depleted. After several attemps, sometimes I can access de OS (sometimes with Minotaur ROM), but it freezes in the Google Account input menu.
Here is a log after trying to install Minotaur again.
