Are they reccomended? I've thought about picking one up for those days I'm playing with my phone for hours on end, but I have one thing holding me back...
When using a battery case is the phone draining the main battery and the battery case is just supplying a steady charge as its used? Or does it bypass the OEM battery while its plugged in being used till it drains? I know lithium ion batteries start losing capacity after 500 or so charges and I'm wondering if a mophie juice pack or equivalent would reduce the lifespan of the main battery?
I've been using the ZeroLemon S5 extended battery+case (8500mah) and have been using ZeroLemon for all my previous phones as well. On stock, I can last about 7 hours on a full charge. On ZeroLemon. I can go through 2 whole days of use. This however does remove the stock battery and replaces it with a MUCH bigger one which requires a custom case which they provide.

I've just bought a 3600mAh battery by Sino Cameron from Ebay, and followed the manufacturers recommendation to fully charge it before using it in my IIi.
I have also cycled it 5 or 6 times now and i still cannot get it to last any longer than my OEM 1300mAh battery. It doesn't take too long to charge up and the OEM battery is lasting a bit longer than the new one even though i've had it over a year. I've tried charging it through my alpine and in the spare slot on the OEM charger but it still makes no difference.
Does the battery need cycling a few more times or does it need more use?
Do i need a different charger?
Could it be a faulty battery?
Is it my IIi that's the issue?
I was expecting the battery to be effective from day one, last at least twice as long +, and be a significant improvement on my old OEM battery. I have read a couple of reviews about their 2400mAh battery lasting almost twice as long as the OEM battery, and i was thinking my new battery would be even better than that but i have to say i feel pretty well dissapointed.
Any suggestions before i send this battery back to the retailer would be appreciated, and has anyone else had a similar issue?

Great News.....
I got the retailer to exchange the battery for another one and BINGO!! This one is working as intended and is lasting about 2.5 times longer than the standard 1300mAh battery.
So it was a faulty battery after all and thats a big relief. I have to sing the batterys praises as it truly does do what it says on the tin and i cannot believe how long i can leave my IIi on in standby phone mode, and the battery indicator hardly moves in hours!!

But since all that's not viable in real life or worth it, I store my battery at 100%. Quite a few times I've used my spare battery a week or so after charging it, and it showed 98-99% when I put it in the phone. Of course that's the phone's reported battery percentage which can be erratic and fluctuate a lot, but when I checked the battery voltage it hadn't decreased by much.
I have 2 spare batteries, both older than my active battery and one slightly bloated and not the best to use (the one I got with the phone). Both are OEM 1230 mAh. I last charged them a week back and didn't use them after. These are the voltages measured with a multimeter as of now -
1st spare battery (1 year 10 months old) - 4.18V
2nd spare battery (1 year 2 months old) - 4.2V
As you can see, that's hardly any decrease in the first one and almost nothing in the second one, considering a full charge is 4.2V (4.204V to be exact). I carry them around with me when I'm outside, so they're exposed to some amount of body heat and ambient heat when the weather is hot. Like I said before, I last charged them one after the other a week ago or a little more than that, and they haven't been used since. So you shouldn't see any significant voltage drop unless you don't use the spare battery for a month or more.
Just in case you weren't aware of this, you can check your battery voltage from your phone easily by keying in *#*#4636#*#* in the dialer and choosing 'battery information'.

The battery will retain its charge and best way is to flash a custom ROM like TrickDroid(Sense 4.0). I have it and battery is amazing even with heavy usage.
I bought my N4 about 4 month ago,recently I found that the battery life of it from bad to worse...I has connected the extended battery nearly half a day,and charge all night when I sleeping.Does those behavior make the battery bad?How can I repair it or replace a new battery?

Avoid using extended battery life.. Charge your phone til 100% and used it till gets to/around 10% and then charge it again so that the charging cycle is fixed. If you are rooted make a full wipe and install any ROM you like with some good kernels out there that matches the ROM. :good:
It might also be a rough app that you recently installed. Use BetterbatteryStats or Wakelock detector this will show you what is causing the unwanted deadlocks and causing battery drain. :good:

Hi I'm new to nexus 4 and have a battery question. I didn't want to start a new thread. I bought a slightly used nexus 4 and charge it to 100% after only a minute of use it immediately starts to drop. Is this normal? I ask because I had an HTC sensation that I charged to 100% and could at least get 10 minutes of use before battery started to drop. Is there something wrong with the battery or is this just the way the nexus 4 operates?

Nexus 4 works this way.. Its all right if battery drops in a minute.. There are plenty of process and their corresponding syncs that actually causes the battery to drain.. Try some different kernel all are good you will get more battery backup.:good:
BUT Stock Rom + Stock kernel are THE BEST.
Maintaining battery health requires a bit of a balance. You don't want to frequently do deep discharges, but you also don't want to charge your phone every time it drops by 10%. If you're sitting around with a charger, plug your phone in when it hits 50%, then let it charge fully before unplugging it.
Overall though, batteries just degrade. You're not going to have a huge impact on the health of your battery unless you're charging it every time it hits 95%.
How about using a slower charger over night? I believe the OEM is what, 1.2amps? I have a couple 1amp chargers from previous phones I had. Will that charge slower/safer?

Modern lithium ion batteries are fairly robust and more chemically sound than early rechargeable batteries. However they do have a finite number of charge cycles.
But you have to understand what a charge cycle is, a full drain to 0 and charge to 100.
So for example Draining to 50 then up, then 50 again then up= 1 charge cycle.
So... Draining it to 95 and bumping it to 100 would take 20 times to reach 1 charge cycle.
Trickle charging vs the oem power used isn't going to make much difference either.
Being ocd about the battery is just going to make you pay more attention to it and thus making you more aware of drain...just use the darn phone and enjoy it!

there is no right way. plug it in when you need a charge, or when there is just a plug around and you want to top off. you do not need to discharge battery to a certain point then charge. just charge it whenever. all these other theories are just that, theories. at work all day, i bump charge it whenever i reach around 80-85%. my battery has not gotten worse. and when im not around chargers, my battery is built to last. i average around 5.5-7.5 hours screen on time, depending what im doing, and im a heavy user.

The battery will only be able to take 1.2 amps or what ever, for the first 10% or so of battery life. By 25% charge, its only sucking around 750ma, and by 50% you are lucky to suck a half amp. Lion batteries do not charge via constant current, they charge via constant voltage (with the voltage dropped for 25% battery charge or less due to over current). So as the battery charges (aka increases in voltage) it draws less and less current.
You want a tip from a guy that has to run the lion battery analyzer for flight modules, keep your battery between 15% and 85%, and long term story them around 30%-40%. A pack that is left on a good charger ($75 or more) charger and never gets below 98% will loose its capacity at double the rate of a pack that floats above 15% and only gets charged to full when needed.
Ive had packs in the field coming back for recal from 2003 still holding above 90% rated capacity because they dont leave them on the charger and dont let them go dead in a locker some where. On the other side ive had 2 year old packs come back that are at 80% capacity ( i fail them at 85%) or less because they sat dead for a year.
Galaxy S3 Neo has a ridiculous stock 2100 mAh battery which offers a very poor duration. That's the reason I need an extended one. I have tried lots of extended batteries of different brands such as DSK, Anker, and one that I don't know its brand, I bought it from http://www.tucargadorsolar.com/. All of it have offered me a very poor duration. They are supposed to have twice the capacity of stock battery but here are the results that I got with all of them:
Original 2100 mAh battery, 100% charged, holds for 5:30 hours on continuous video playing until it reaches 5%.
Different extended batteries (4200 to 4400 mAh depending on the brand), 100% charged, hold for 6:45 hours on continuous video playing and in exactly the same conditions of the other test (screen brightness, bluetooth, wifi...).
I have repeated the test lots of times and always get the same results. If an extended battery of 4200 - 4400 mAh has a double capacity and original battery holds for 5:30 hours, why the extended one does not hold for the double, 11 hours?
I suppose that I have been testing batteries coming from not reliable brands.
I ordered a battery from Mugen Power 3 months ago, because it is supposed to be a reliable brand. But 3 months later still know nothing about the order I've made, and now they don't answer my e-mails.
What can I do? Is there another brand which is reliable enough to offer me a good duration?
I am really annoyed with this, I have lost very much money and time and all batteries I buy are in a very bad condition.
Well you could just money to buy another phone Anyway, if you're on stock, I can't say much, but using a custom kernel with governors etc, it would be really a great option as with the default battery, it last way more longer.
It's really strange, really. Have you calibrated the batteries right by reading the manuals? Are you sure about the capacities (Have you tested them with a multimeter)? Have in mind (if you haven't already known that) that I9300 batteries are exactly the same, because it's wide known and there are for sure reliable sources. A phone like Neo, is easily targeted with fake things. Last, you should buy from Amazon and read the reviews. Oh, did you try to contact with the companies?

S3 neo's battery functionality is a joke...
I try a lots of extended batterys baut only one is in right...Anker 7200mah(buy from amazon)
But s3 neo have a "bug"...completly charge of ectended batery is possible just if you replace battery after first charge to "100%" and put on charge again...aproximately after replace cell, phone was display the true charging %...
After 2x 3x replaces battery was true 100% charged...
Discharging is same way....after first 1-2% level replace the batt....it shows aprox. 70% after....
Replace "trick" is only one way to use extended batterys capacity.

I've bought an extended Battery for my GT-I9505.
My Problem:
I don't feel anything of the power increase from the new battery... It's still discharging between 8-10 hours like the Stock one.
I deleted the batterystats.bin,
I calibrated the battery,
I charged and discharged it completly several times,
After a quick research I got the Information, that I need another Kernel, becouse the Stock one don't accept the bigger battery (the kernel think the battery is full charged but the battery isn't really.)
And if I combine 1 and 1 my thought is:
The more the battery is charged, the more the output voltage.
The Mobile recognise if the battery is full to avoid an overloading.
This recognise is taken from the output Voltage exact like the percent scale.
When the Stock battery reached his 2600mah capacity the output voltage is for example 4.000 Volt.
2600 mah --> 4.000 Volt --> 100%
BUT HERE IS THE PROBLEM:
As soon as the 4.000 Volt ≙ 2600mah are reached with the new 5600mah battery the mobile thinks its full charged to protect from an overload.
And I think, that the Battery isn't really full even if the mobile says that.
Can anyone help me?
I'm don't think this is the case. I'm pretty sure there are people using extended batteries on stock ROMs.
Could it just be that the capacity is fake?
