$200 trade-in promotion - Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Everyone I'm on the phone with from Samsung seems to have no clue what is going on with this deal. In the fine print it says not valid with any other promotion or offer and I got $50 off my pre-order. Do you guys think i'll still get the $200 promotion, or should i redo my pre-order without the $50 off? :silly:
Update: I just got off the phone with a Samsung rep and he told me he "could not verify the validation of the samsunggalaxypromotions.com/note4 website, and it could be a third party vendor" blah blah blah. You would think that if a company is going to put up a promotion they would have some clue about it, which is why i don't think samsung has anything to do with this. I searched the domain name and this came up:

the website belongs to prizelogic.com, and I don't trust that. Best Buy has a $200 gift card promotion, but you have to order in store, and the nearest Best Buy is 100 miles away...

The promotion is on Boy Genius Report
http://bgr.com/2014/09/18/galaxy-note-4-release-date-samsung-announcement/
Pre-order the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 between September 19th and October 16th and get a guaranteed total trade-in of $200 on any working smartphone. For more information, visit http://www.SamsungGalaxyPromotions.com/Note4.

It would really help if the "Contact Us" and "Terms and Conditions" were actual links!

How are we supposed to upload the receipts? None of the links in the promo advertisement work. I'm assuming it should be live as it started 9/19.

Doesn't it say come back on 10-10 and links will be live.

Yah, I read that after I posted. So I guess we find out 10-10 what the real story is.

I sure hope so
Okay so I tweeted samsungsupportus (or whatever it is) with a question about the promotion and they told me it's only sprint. Does anyone at Samsung know what's going on because I'm frustrated with this now.

We pre-ordered from best buy today. I was told to just bring in any working none cracked screen smartphone as the trade in, and best buy would print gift certificates out for the rebate at the time of pickup.
Also, best buy has its own $50 deposit promo running right now as well, and they stack. At purchase, the $50 deposit gets refunded on a gift card, so the total rebate amount of both is actually $250! Since the phone is only $299, after the rebates, that makes it $50 with a 2 year contract!
Personally I think they are nuts selling them that cheap, but they probably want a lot of buzz out there from early adopters.
Also, if you have a best buy credit card, keep in m8nd you also get reward zone gift certificates for the $300 purchase per phone. I think we'll get $20 or $30 back in reward zone gift certificates back on both our phones, driving our cost down to $40 or less each.
I love it!

Which carrier did you pre order for?

Verizon. They said the pre-order was hardware only, and that the change on Verizon would only include thier $30 transitional fee.

I just got off a live chat with a Samsung representative on their website and they confirmed that the website and promotion are authentic. They said its not exclusive to any carrier and its being done by Samsung themselves.

So if I go to best buy and trade in phone there. They will go with bestbuy trade in value? Not t mobile, att or Verizon correct?

So there is a chance we can capitalize on both deals here. Samsung and best buy.

The samsung promotion just guarantees the trade-in value is $200 for any working smartphone.
You'll get the difference between whatever bestbuy gives you for the trade-in and $200.
Check best buy trade-in value here.
Best buy mobile special offers here.

This promo only good with on contract pricing?

Did you confirm with Best Buy or Samsung? I'm very skeptical about this, but you could be on to something here.
---------- Post added at 12:20 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:29 AM ----------
Actually, it all makes sense to me now in regards to the reasoning behind Best Buy offering their own promo.
For the Samsung promotion you have to upload the trade-in receipt from what appears to be any carrier/retailer.
If you go ahead and trade-in through Best Buy your trade-in receipt will show a $200 value from them.
So if Samsung guarantees a total trade-in of $200, then that guarantee would already have been honored through Best Buy directly. There will be nothing to claim through Samsung since $200-$200 = $0.
Which makes sense for Best Buy since now that $200 gift card can only be used at Best Buy.
I have just talked to Best Buy and they confirmed this. What's interesting, however, is that the rep I talked to mentioned that Best Buy will give you $200 for any working phone. So for example, instead of trading in my S3 I can use an old Incredible 2 I have lying around in a drawer collecting dust, which has a trade-in value of less than $10 based on Verizon, and still get a $200 gift card from Best Buy.
That being said, I already pre-ordered through Verizon directly on the 19th and most likely will not be cancelling it.

I just read the terms and conditions of the offer on the promo website.
In my case I want to trade-in an HTC EVO 4G. But the trade-in value is only $6 at tmo. $0 at best buy.
Which means I won't qualify for the samsung promo as they need $10 min trade-in value.
Where are the terms of this best buy offer?

So why not trade in a phone at Best Buy, get the $200 gift card, and then trade in a second phone and submit that receipt to Samsung? They didn't say it had to be a phone traded in at the same time of your pre-order.

100$ Port Credit

http://www.androidpolice.com/2010/0...rs-porting-their-numbers-from-other-carriers/
Can someone weigh in on this? I was talking to a friend, wishing that cellphone companies would offer some sort of incentive to switch carriers. I found this just now and was wondering what anyone knew about this credit and/or any incentives for switching carriers. Since I currently have an iPhone something like this would be a boon.
EDIT: Also how does the phone number porting work. If I want to take my AT&T number with me, do I have to contact AT&T first and/or cancel my AT&T plan prior to signing up for the EVO with Sprint. I'd rather minimize downtime.
EDIT: NVM that. Found the info http://www.fcc.gov/cib/consumerfacts/numbport.html That's an easy process.
That would be nice, as I'm coming from T-mobile.
Welp, just got out of a chat with a Sprint CSA on the website. Apparently I'm elligible for the $100 port credit. I'm coming from AT&T.
That'll be nice.
I spoke to a sprint rep and was told the so called port credit was in the form of the $150 you get off the price of the phone. So the evo is 450-150 to get down to the $300 price minus the 100 mir for the final $200 for new customers.

This rep misunderstood or lied to you. The 150$ is for anyone who signs a 2 year contract regardless of whether you come from another carrier, or are already on Sprint.
I called specifically asking about any $100 credit for porting over from T-Mobile. They told me that there WAS an incentive being offered to port over but it expired a few weeks ago. The only "credit" available is this $150 discount.
Anyone have concrete info on this?
I talked to a Sprint rep, and they said I would be elligible for it on June 4th. Either way, who cares. When you get it, throw your number in the site and see what happens!
ive been reading its only for business customers but I am definitely gonna try for it
Heres some help guys. After you port your number(s) you have 72 hours to go here:
http://sprintportcredit.com/
What doesn't make sense is the credit for one number per month. I will call when June 4th comes.
I don't buy it.
that website looks MIGHTY fishy to me!
I think they are fishing for people's cellnumbers and email addresses.

Yeah I perhaps should have specified when I wanted people to weigh in. I thought it was fishy and that's what I wanted people to weigh in on. I'm sure the manager at the mobile section of best buy will know if they have something like that. If not I'll ask a Sprint Rep.
WTF so you're saying sprintportcredit.com is a phishing site? How are you able to tell who that domain is registered to? I called Sprint and even told them the website and the rep stated "Yeah go there after you port your number".
What does the scammer have to gain by going to that website and mistakenly entering your number?
Ive asked several Sprint reps in person at different stores about this and they all say the credit is for business customers only.

It says so right on that site as well.
Well I'll call the Sprint Porting Department and demand that they give me a porting credit. They'll want my business so in the end the customer wins.

Just curious, why do you feel you're entitled to the credit if you dont meet the criteria for it?
Because I'm willing to port 4 numbers from AT&T to Sprint. They need the business and they will give me a credit. I work for AT&T so I know how these things work. I will also be getting a CORP discount from one of my relatives on my account who works for Bank of America. It's a 36% discount. I believe I fit the criteria.

From the sprintportcredit.com eligibility requirements:
Service credit request must be made at https://www.sprintportcredit.com within 72 hours from the port-in activation date for your Service Credit Request. Service credit is available only to eligible corporate-liable accounts. Promo requires 2-year contract agreement outside of hierarchy/special contract terms. Must port in from an active wireless line and remain active on original account number for 61 days in order to receive full service credit. You should continue paying your bill while waiting for your service credit to avoid service disruption and possible credit delay.
Credits apply to all devices that have an associated mobile number and come through the port process. Promotion excludes port ins from providers currently associated with Sprint. Excludes all Individual Liable, Seasonal Standby, and Special Government Rate Plans less than $10 (e.g., U3169, U3169H, U3169D, C1266).
Unless you're activating 4 lines in your business' name, the it would seem that you dont. But good luck to you, it never hurts to try!
EDIT: I'm not trying to be a ****, just pointing out the actual terms for this credit. If you can pull it off, more power to ya.
Didn't someone already point that website out as a phishing site? Someone stated that sprintportcredit.com wasn't an official Sprint site.
yes, but that site is the basis of this thread. Look at the first link the OP posted.

I can preorder from a Sprint store, right?

I just canceled my Best Buy preorder when they told me that they would not price match Sprint if they marked the price up.
-------------------------------------
Sent via the XDA Tapatalk App
When I called them they said they didn't know and normally don't know anything till the day before.
They were pretty much useless to me. Sprint has already announced the price so the chances are pretty slim they will just all the sudden increase the price.
My Sprint store would not let me pre-order. They said they would be happy to call me when the EVO arrives.
EDIT: Best Buy sold me a $ 50 gift card to use for the purchase of the phone or anything else in the store (or cashed in). In my opinion this is a no lose situation. If Best Buy decides to up the price (which I HIGHLY doubt) then I can just cash in the card and walk over to the Sprint store.
I also just looked at the Best Buy site online and the fine print keeps deferring back to the Sprint website for more details. To me this means the price will be the same, $450 unsubsidized - $150 upgrade - $100 mail-in rebate = $200.
EDIT-2: It's looking more and more like TheBiles is correct. More than one person has reported that BB is going to charge $600.

There has been a lot of talk that Best Buy will charge $600 off contract, which is what I'm ordering. They've done the price gouging in the past as well. Does anyone know the off contract price at Radio Shack?
EDIT: Apparently Radio Shack is only accepting preorders for contracted phones. They told me that they don't yet know what the final price will be. The Sprint store told me to come back in a week and they would probably be taking names for reserves. Though I'm not too worried about them selling out here.

I went into a Sprint store because Best Buy in Washington state will apparently not ever carry Sprint phones in store (they said they can only carry 3 major carriers and chose AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon) - I assume this is because T-Mobile US headquarters is in Factoria, WA outside of Seattle?
The Sprint sales manager entered some info into the computer (my Name, Social Security Number, Address, current phone number) and looked like he wrote my name and some sort of confirmation number on a post-it note. He said I have one reserved for the 4th and they will call me the 3rd to schedule an appointment to pick it up after the morning rush has died down. I expressed concern because I wanted to make sure I would have an Evo if they sold out, and he said not to worry, I will definitely get one.
I'll go to a Sprint store in the morning. The dude at BB said "you do know it's gonna be around $700 right?" .. uhhhh no thanks pal..

Yeah, my Best Buy was totally ****ing clueless. They were all like "Um, we have no idea what the price will be, but we do know that we will not match the price on it." I was like not a chance.

As a sprint employee, can you tell me if there's any "official" preorder process? I didn't receive a receipt or confirmation number, although the employee seemed to write something down after putting my info into the computer. I did tell him I would be signing up for a new 2yr contract as well.
There should be, I was told there was, but the link to whatever they are working on is broken thusfar. It should be up soon. What our store is doing is taking down names, numbers and emails, and then transfering them to the real pre order list once it becomes available. After that you will get an email with the pre order confirmation.
For anyone wondering if BB will raise the price, they will. Look at their off contract pricing for the Hero and Moment. $599 and $629 respectively. No doubt BB will raise the price. I need to see if Sprint will charge me a deposit to open my own account again instead of my family's account. If I can I pay my $200 etf, plus $199 and it still comes out cheaper than $450.

Yes, you can trust Mobilecityonline.com. I've purchased a few things from them and they're very reliable.
Thanks for the answer, unfortunately mobile city sends online to USA and Canada, Cellhut.com also has a unlocked version for pre-order, for $549, and they send to Brazil, are they reliable?
i would never trust any shipment to venezuela directly, so i use a courier in miami that actually sends the stuff down here. i am suru brazil must have lots of couriers as well
looks like walmart will be a good place to get it. looking forward to it.
BTW, some of the online stores will not sell the phone to you if you are not an AT&T customer. The off-contract price is only for AT&T customers who do not want to sign a new contract.
If you do not happen to be an AT&T customer, you will need to pay a full price ($599 @ Amazon or BB, $575 at the AT&T store). This is what I was told at one BB and two AT&T stores. If you happen to be lucky, some clueless sales person may sell you one at no-contract price even if you are not an AT&T customer.
from what i have searched all the links i have posted allow you to buy without being an att customer.

The one that I tried (letstalk.com) does not allow you to do that. I even tried their CS department and was told I needed to have an AT&T account to get the off-contract pricing. Wal-mart was the same.
Additionally, both Cells4u and Amazon are now showing a back-ordered status. Mobilecityonline and cellhut do not have any stock as yet nor do they know when they will be getting any either. I've talked to Expansys and they have no idea when they will have them in stock either.
before posting the link i just chose existing att customer to get the off contract price and continued, it asked for my credit card and address and i stopped there. i guess i will have to wait for mobilecityonline
Actually, after you enter your CC details, it then asks you for your social security number and current ATT phone number
ouch... and on top of that they will be going the wirefly route and stop selling at&t phones starting march 8.
this sucks
Cellhut - no. Two more sources
I would not trust cellhut. Their ratings (if you google for that) are abysmal.
I preordered from negrielectronics [dot] com/motorola-atrix-4g-black-unlocked.html - they claim availability end of this month, and deliver internationally. They seem to have good reseller ratings. It is a bit pricey at $686.50, though. The upside is it should be unlocked. The downside was that the "free delivery" does not seem to apply, according to my Google Checkout. Though they do inform you that preorder prices may not be final, and the final total may be lower than what they initially pre-charged, so I guess it's wait and see for me.
One more option would be Expansys - for Singapore: www [dot] expansys [dot] com [dot] sg/motorola-atrix-207852/ (SG $819.99, about US$640), they have other country websites too (just choose country on the top, you have to search for the phone again in this case). It is listed now with a price, but not available for preorder (at least for Singapore). Projected availability is 25 July, quite far away.
I prefer to buy it unlocked in the first place, if I can.
There are a couple of listings on ebay as well, but don't expect anything below US$ 700. And expect a couple of not-so-trustworthy people there as well.
Sorry - new user, not able to post links yet.
i knew about those two sites (looked them through froogle) but didn't post them because they were so expensive. too bad amazon is so expensive and backordered too. it's basically the only way i can buy (long story, our country caps our online purchases in usd at 400$ per year so i need two credit cards and amazon is the only place that allows me to buy a gift certificate and apply to my account)
letstalk.com has a 5% off coupon (up to $25 savings): LTCART5 (expires on feb 28)
I ordered mine on letstalk.com with the coupon, here is the invoice details:
Product Description Price Discount Qty Subtotal
Motorola Atrix 4G (AT&T) $499.99 1 $499.99
Coupon: 5% off the shopping cart up to $25 (-$25.00) (-$25.00)
Shipping: Standard $0.00 $0.00
Tax: CA $39.19
Total to be charged: $514.18
I think this is the cheapest online price now ($475.99)...
They charge sales tax for CA and TX customers...not sure about other states...
I asked wirefly if they are going to sell the atrix...but they said no (most likely because they will drop AT&T sales in March...)
hope this helps
nice, too bad i have to be an actual att customer to buy through them.

Also ordered mine through Let's Talk. Didn't know about the coupon code though. By the way, they don't charge NY taxes.

any thoughts? worth it?

[Q] Best unlocked price? / Sprint Samsung Galaxy S4 Active?

I've asked Samsung and Sprint on Twitter about this. Any other/better places to express my interest in this?
Also, where is the best place to purchase an unlocked Sprint Samsung Galaxy S 4? Best I have found is $599.99 from Amazon (no tax, free 2 day shipping). Probably can't do any better without taking a spin with eBay roulette.
I had Best Buy price match Amazon for $599.99 and got the Geek Squad protection for $10 a month with no deductible on replacements.

Or look on local craigslist - just make sure you meet at a Sprint store and have the store inspect the phone. The store will also verify that the account is not past due, and that the phone is not stolen.
I've purchased a few phones (a few new in box - unused) at close to on-contract pricing from Craigslist.
Tried BestBuy, would have liked to gotten a pricematch for 599 + the $50 giftcard promotion they have untill Saturday, the 6th. Asked several Mobile employees, and even the Samsung rep.
Rep A: "We don't pricematch off contract phones, only for Virgin Mobile"
Rep B: "We stopped pricematching off-contract phones mid april / may. I used to pricematch like crazy back then" "we pricematch EVERYTHING else EXCEPT off-contract phones"
I even told Rep B that a friend did it recently, when that friend offered to sign up for the GeekSquad protection plan, which I would have done also if it got me the phone.
I was even planning on applying for the BBY Credit Card.
Any suggestions? Try a different store?

Are you sure the SG4 Active even available for Sprint? Also, are you sure it is sold SIM unlocked? I seriously doubt both of this points.

Did you read my instructions in the link I provided earlier? It has their price matching terms from their website and it clearly states that the only thing they don't price match is "On contract phones" if they argue show them their policy off the website. Read the link I provided you need to have them ask their manager don't rely on some person on the floor alone.

$30 coupon code for Nexus 7 (2013) right now!

I didn't see this posted so I figured I would share. I wasn't even planning to upgrade but after seeing the free shipping and $30 off coupon code through Staples, I really couldn't resist. Especially since I have a buyer lined up to purchase my 2012 Nexus 7 for $140 this weekend. :highfive:
http://www.droid-life.com/2013/07/2...exus-7-through-staples-with-this-coupon-code/
Coupon code: 41178
Not sure how long they'll have this offer up but it worked for me.
just walked into a staples near by and used the online staples coupon, printed out.
http://www.staples.com/coupons
bought the 16 gig for $199.
tell the employee to use the online code: 41178
you need to print out the coupon and bring it in store. doing unboxing now.
expires 7/28, go get it!
If you anyone of you were impatient like I was and bought it at Best Buy, you can have them price match it. I had to call in a couple times, first rep lied to me and told me they don't do pricematch of item after purchase only during. Here's their policy http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Payment...ee/pcmcat297300050000.c?id=pcmcat297300050000
Just arrived at my Staples and they only have the 16gb version. Oh well.

I bought mine at Best Buy this morning. I called them to ask if they would match the Staples price, they said only if it's an in store price, I told them it was a coupon discount and they said definitely not. I'm not sure how the other guy above got away with that, it's literally in their pricematch guarantee that they will not match coupon prices. Anyway, Best Buy will allow you to return your item for free, even if it's opened and you can return it to any Best Buy store if you ordered it online. What I'm going to do is buy the Staples one and not open it and return it to Best Buy. Hopefully they won't match the serial number on the box. If they do, then I'll return the opened one, no big deal.
Edit: Oh well, Staples site says they're out of stock online, both models.
Edit 2: Called the store near me, they don't even carry the new model yet, they only have the old one. Other Staples in the area all seem to have the 16GB in stock, no 32GB, so I called them. They said they had only one in stock that was "on hold for a customer, but If I wanted to buy a protection plan for it, they would hold it for me instead"... Sounds real shady. Anyway, in case anyone's wondering, the online code (which is 41178) will work until this Sunday (7/28), but apparently the code 35852 will work in store if you ask the cashier to try it for you.
16gb at the local Staples, with coupon, $199 out the door. :good:
Thank you so much for posting this I rode as quick as I could to staples to pick mine up!
And I was going to wait for my 1 day shipping, Ain't nobody got time for that!!

You got lucky, their policy clearly states they do not price match post purchases.
The Guarantee is limited to one price match per identical item, per guest and does not apply to: Contract mobile phone devices and plans, the online prices of retailers not listed, the online prices of third party vendors (Marketplace vendors) on designated major online retailers websites, post purchase price match requests to competitor's prices, Best Buy for Business™, offers that include financing, gift card offers, bundling of items, free items, pricing errors, mail-in offers, coupon offers, competitors' service prices, items that are advertised as limited-quantity, out of stock, open-box, clearance, refurbished/used items, our and our competitor's Deal of the Day, daily deals, special hour sale event items and credit card offers, BestBuy.com Clearance & More and Marketplace items, and items for sale Thanksgiving Day through the Monday after Thanksgiving.

Hrmm are they're contradicting themselves? Because if you scroll down to the FAQs
How do I request a price match from BestBuy.com?
When making a purchase, or during the return and exchange period after your purchase from BestBuy.com, price match requests from BestBuy.com are handled via phone. Please call 1-888-BEST BUY (1-888-237-8289) for a BestBuy.com price match request. Please tell us about the lower price that is still in effect that you want Best Buy to price match. Best Buy will then review and verify the price match request.
Edit: I guess that only applies to pricematching themselves.

You have 15 days to get the price matched post purchase, "We will also match prices post purchase if we lower our price within 15 days of your purchase." But you still did get lucky because it says "The Guarantee is limited to one price match per identical item, per guest and does not apply to: ... coupon offers, ..."
Edit: Yeah, looked at that wording, it does say "if we lower our price within 15 days of your purchase."
Edit 2: Apparently the code doesn't work in store. Just called a Staples store near me and I asked if they had any in stock, before I even said anything about the coupon, the guy said "If you have the coupon for $30 off, it doesn't work for the new tablet, only the old ones" and that he just tried it numerous times for a customer. Oh well, hopefully they'll get more in stock online, or maybe they didn't realize the coupon was working for the new Nexus 7 and it wasn't supposed to be and they finally fixed it.
Damn sold out

insane deal! already got mine at best buy since I thought it was a mistake didn't think Staples would be selling them as well.
To clear up BB price match.
1. They only price match against other stores at the time of purchase. Post purchase price matches apply only to a lower BB price.
2. They do not price match coupons.
Bummer...

My local BB did price match the coupon (local staples only had the 16gb, I wanted the 32). Still stuck paying tax versus amazon, but out the door at 254.39 for the 32.

I'm curious if they can still reject my pricematch, they told me it will be sent to credit department or something. I asked for a confirmation number and was given a case number.

huh, I think best bet would be to go to a local store and hold the coupon over there head. Chances are the Manager would match it to get your business. Online there is prolly less leeway
ordered from amazon, saw this deal, went to staples, they didint accept coupon, canceled amazon, bought at staples anyway...
went to a different staples about 15 min ago with my recipt and showed the coupon..... gave my 32$ back
im happy
They stopped the 30 bucks coupon for new nexus. Old nexus still works! They also are canceling online orders for people who used the 30 coupon.
