So I turned off SDM with titanium backup when I rooted my phone and now I flashed the NHA and now I can't reenable it so how can I do that/take the latest OTA?

Application manager > scroll to "Turned Off" > reset app preferences
Even if it is turned back on the OTA will detect root and fail. You will need to Odin back to stock NHA without root to take the OTA.

SDM can't be turned off by the App Manager. You need root and Titanium Backup or something comparable to turn it off.
I was on stock NHA rooted.
Took the OTA update to NI2 without issue.
Odin the kernel back to NCG and re-rooted, then Odin back to the NI2 kernel.
No need to Odin back to stock NHA without root.

Hello, I am currently running MJE on my Verizon Galaxy Note 3 (rooted with Root De La Vega). Currently, I have SuperSU set to survival mode as I want to take the OTA update to 4.4.2. But every time I take the update, my device restarts and the update gives an error while it's attempting to upgrade. It then restarts and tells me that it failed to upgrade with error 402.
What I've Done:
Unfrozen all frozen apps within Titanium Backup
Used Wanam Xposed to set system status to "Official"
Set SuperSU to "Survival Mode" and disabled SuperUser
I'm not sure where to go next, as I don't want to have to remove everything from my device and start fresh again (I've already had to do that before!!). What should I do so that I can take OTA and keep my root status?

Did you ever install Safe Strap? If so, you can not use the OTA.
Sent from my Note 3 via Tapatalk
I had something similar happen. Rooted with kingo, installed safestrap, used tibu to freeze every updater possible. Then was going to take the OTA did exactly as you did error message and all. I finally had to odin back to stock with the 4.3 tar file. I didn't reroot and just took the OTA after that.
Sent from my SM-N900V using XDA Free mobile app
Is there anyone out there that was able to overcome the update failed without going back to stock first?
I had the same message but when I tried to flash stock back to it Odin and the computer won't recognize it
Hi,
Sorry if this has been posted already.
I've been experiencing some problems with my Verizon GS5 and would like to perform a factory reset on it. But the thing is that is is rooted with towelroot and I've heard that resetting a rooted phone could cause bigger problems. Verizon has recently released a minor update which breaks root. I would like to keep or at least be able to regain root access after all this.
Will performing a factory reset automatically do a software update? Should I unroot before resetting and how?
Details:
Model: SM-G900V
Version: 4.4.2
Kernel: 3.4.0

You can unroot with the TR app or superSU app, after that i would reflash the current rom you have and do a data factory reset afterwards.

I have the stock rom, how do I reflash it? If I unroot then do a reset, will it update to the latest version (towelroot won't work with the new Verizon update) or an older version where I will be able to use towelroot and enable Root Survival with superSU Pro?

First unroot with the TR app, then flash the rom with Odin 3.09, then data factory reset and root with TR. Install superSU (Pro) and enable survival mode and then you can accept and flash the OTA and keep root.

Ok, I've unrooted with superSU and found the stock firmware with SamMobile. Now I should extract the file to Odin and put the phone in download mode, then after it's done do a factory reset. Correct?

Yes I have. Thank you very much for your help
A brief background:
My Device: Samsung Note 4 SM-N910C
What I did:
1. Flashed stock BOE3 firmware
2. Rooted phone using CF-Autoroot
3. Flashed TWRP
4. Flashed Wanam Lite ROM
5. Flashed Stock BOE3 Kernel
SuperSU can easily detect my previously installed root apps like Greenify, Titanium Backup, ROM Toolbox Pro, etc. once I activate them. However, when downloading new root apps (My Android Tools, GSAM Root Companion), SuperSU does not detect/no prompt for root access. I was trying to disable some receivers in My Android Tools, but it gets stuck on loading and I have to close the app.
What seems to be the problem? Is there anything that I can do to fix this issue?
Your expert advice/opinion matters to me.
Thanks!
I'm seeing the same problem. T-Mo Note Edge 915T on Lollipop, just updated from KK, flashed the ROM and running into the same. Reinstalling SuperSU did not help.

BTW, if I set the default mode to "Grant", new apps work fine. The new app does not get added to the SuperSU list, nor do I want to leave it like this. I want to use the "Prompt" setting.

Download SuperSU app from play store. Grant root access. Do full unroot. Disable root from development reboot. Now you can flash magisk.
How can u get into the development reboot? Btw the the su app says su binary is missing.

He meant to say,
Disable Root access from Development settings,
Flash SuperSU latest ZIP 2.78 SR5,
Turn on device,
Open SuperSU ->settings -> full unroot
Reboot,
Then you can install magisk,
Always take backup...?
Edit: app saying, binary is missing..! Did you try to delete "su" from xbin..?

Yeah my bad. Autocorrect got me there. It's developer settings. And also don't worry about binary missing. Just do full unroot. Then reboot

I have found that installing SuperSU is not necessary to use app for full unroot. At least in case of cm root

It takes some time but that is too long. Is your ROM clean flashed? Also did you provide root access to SuperSU app?

Yes. I did a clean flash and even provided root access to the Super SU app.

Have you provided root access to any other app? Tell me exactly what you did.
As an alternative Also if this doesn't work try going to TWRP and deleting system/xbin/su and /system/bin/su? To see if that will help?

Thanks mate! It worked through full unroot(SuperSU)..I had to disable root access for other app.(didn't notice, greenify was given root access)
Basically my daughters phone had no space. So I rooted it, installed app2sd, and it appeared to be ok for the last week.
Now it signed her out of some apps, and she cant log into snapchat. Also netflix isnt showing up anymore.
I opened SuperSU and disabled root, snapchat still doesnt work. I uninstalled supersu and app2sd, everything besides twrp recovery, and still not working.
What options do I have? Do i need to remove twrp and go full stock again?
You don't need to unroot or re-install stock firmware. Just install "Root Switch" allow it root access and switch off root previliges. Now Run Snapchat it will run like a Boss.
