This just started happening yesterday and so far has happened 3 times.
I have the plugin for Nova launch to show the unread email count and Gmail will say 1.
I open it, and it says 1 unread primary. Nothing shows. I go into the social, promo tabs, nothing either.
Back to primary, swipe up and the loading bar comes up but never goes away.
I restart the phone, my new email sound goes off and there it is, 40 minutes old.
Actually, restart just finished, 2 new in primary, 1 in promotions.
Read them, still says I have 1 unread.
Checked through browser, all those i read unread. Marked em read, and now the phone is synched.

I recently upgraded to WM6. I had backed up all my sms messages in Outlook on my PC which I copied back to my device. Since the device recognizes all the messages as new, it marks them as unread. The hassle is when you have to mark them as read. And you can't select all and mark them as read because if you try that mistake, your XDA is going to go to sleep and there is no telling when will it wake up. So once in a while, when I upgrade and I have to copy all SMS messages back to the device, I mark them read doing 30-40 messages at a time.
Sometimes, I have noticed that when you are done marking them as read, there is a bug in the software and screen status at the bottom as well as the folders list shows 1 message as unread. It also appears on the Today screen: "Text Message: 1 unread message"
Now, my question is, how can I mark all messages as read. One way is to hard reset the device and re do the whole process. I am sure that will work, but its a tedious. Is there any shortcut to it?
Oh and I moved all messages in the Inbox to the Deleted Items folder, now the Inbox is completely empty but it still shows 1 unread message. There should be a way to reset the count? Is there?
I have tried running the fixunreadmessages.exe utility on it. It reset the count of the Inbox to 0 but the Today screen and the folder list still show 1 unread message.
I had the same problem. I posted my solution (which i cant remember) on a thread on the forum just incase anyone else had the problem. Will try and find it.
This problem isn't horrible just to start out, but I am always wondering if it's a random fluke or something to be just expected for now.
My unread SMS count seems to be off when I've read all the messages, usually it will show 1 or 2 unread even if I've read them all (or then 3 or 4 unread if I get a new message after that, then it will go back to 1 or 2).
I have tried playing with it, and it will sometimes go away, but it is just so random that I don't know what does it....could be a bootup, opening the message for a longer amount of time, sending a reply vs. only reading it etc. I messed around with those and sometimes that works, sometimes it doesn't, just very odd to me, and I was wondering if it was normal.

Also happened with Handcent widget, but using stock now.
Hi all
When I get new POP email, the notification sounds every 5 mins until I read it.... Is there any way to make it notify only once?
Thanks
Same problem here. Also when I got more than 1 email i get multiple notification sounds and is vibrating really long.
I find it quite annoying.
If its googlemail, open it up, press menu and then settings. Under notification's there are 2 options, 1 is about only one notification per message and the other is about how many times it will notify you
Anyone know of a widget that woudl give a count of new mail similar to the way Windows Phone 7 does?
It's more of a "new mail" count instead of an unread count, ie. if I check my inbox and I have 20 unread emails, then go back to the home screen it shows 0 new mail (even though I have 20 unread). Then I get a new message and it shows I have 1 new email -- I click to see my inbox which now has 21 unread mails. Going back to the home screen it resets to 0 new mails again.
Thanks,
Nick
Hey all.
I need to figure out how to stop messaging apps etc from updating old messages and showing that I have X-number of unread messages on my Zenpad?
Specifically.... Let's say I don't use my pad for 2 or 3 days. But today I turn it on. As it starts all my messaging apps such as: email, Facebook, text messages, etc etc show that there are unread messages.
So for example the icon will show that I have, let's say, 20 text messages. In fact I don't, but it's counting the 20 that were sent and opened/read on my cell phone since the last time I started my Zenpad up.. When I open the app they of course are not showing if I deleted a message or they don't show as unread. Which is good that it's not showing messages as unread once in the app but why is it seeing messages that are read our deleted as the app starts?
This doesn't happen in reverse. For example of I open a message on my Zenpad but then start my phone the apps on my phone so not reflect the opened messages that I looked at on the pad.
So I guess my question is how do I stop the apps from showing that I have unread messages?
Hopefully that wasn't confusing.
