Under wireless controls I have mobile networks, when I select it all I have for selections are : data roaming, call gaurd data roaming gaurd & system select... No APA AKA access point names to select...
I am trying to configure some APN settings but when I try to add a new one and press back (there is no 'OK' or 'SAVE' button), it doesnt show in the list.
Pressing menu on the main list of current APN's doesnt allow me to delete.
Same thing when i press and hold on existing APN's -- no options to edit/delete them.
Does the phone have to be rooted/unlocked in order for me to be able to add my own APN settings?
Three should be a 'save' option when you press the Menu button after entering the APN details (press menu instead of back).

played around with the settings a bit more and figured it out
HAd to change my network mode from GSM/HSPA/LTE auto --> GSM/HSPA auto
If your having slower speed running a custom rom try this out - it helped me. (only for T-Mobile Nexus 6). Got it from geek squads help site. I'm not responsible if you screw up your device. Really its just adding an additional apn though, should be easy.
Tap the Menu button.
Tap Settings.
Tap Wireless and networks or More... (depending on your version of Android).
Tap Mobile Networks.
Tap Access point names.
Tap the Menu button.
Tap New APN.
Enter the following data into the onscreen form, without changing any other settings:
Name - T-Mobile Internet
APN - everywhere
Username - eesecure
Password - secure
MMSC - http://mms/
MMS Proxy - 149.254.201.135
MMS Port - 8080
Authentication type - PAP
APN type - If given a choice, select internet+mms, if the keyboard appears enter *
(As a check, the image below shows blue text in the fields you should have completed)
Tap the Menu button.
Tap Save.
Enable the newly-added APN by ensuring the line is ticked, or the radio button is lit by tapping on it.
Check the notification bar for 4G, H, 3G, E or G with up and down arrows beside it, which will indicate your connection is working.
That's for UK
Appreciate you trying to help but like above, I think what you posted is UK specific. For the US, this is what I used: https://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-17581
Thanks for the heads up on that, I noticed it. That's why I love XDA!

hi,
trying to use my unlocked ls993 in Verizon. voice and text work, but no data. the apn setting is missing all together, so can not add apn.
when putting in a tmobile sim, the apn appears and I can add t apn and data works.
any suggestions to make the v apn appears?
thanks.
I can help, go to your dialer and from there type *#546368#*993#
Then navigate to field test then navigate and there should be the second option. Go to pdp and then apn then you can add it from there.

Code not working on my LS993, but thank you for trying to help Still looking for the code for this model.
So just found out the code that worked in my LS993 is:
5689#*993#
(credit: https://idealkaynak.net/lg-g6-hidden-menu-kodlari/)
With that I added xfinity mobile apn. Once saved I had data, but was connected with 3G only, with DL speed of 0.8MPS. I was not happy, thought reboot the phone might make it better. Rebooted, then I lost data connection altogether; call and text still work, no apn in control but with the hidden menu access I see my apn is still there.
So I am stuck again. Any suggestions? Is there anyway I can force the g6 to load "carrier settings" of some sort?
Hi, did you find a way to add the APN. I have the same issue.
same problem
i have the same problem and checking on other post a guy says that you have to enter on hidden menu and apn settings and there are two options edit and view. chose edit and erase all apn including otasn after that have to appear in the normal mobile network menu the three dots to add the apn of your cellphone company. but you need the msl code or service code.
any suggestions of how to get the msl code and try this ?
i have an LG G6 LS993ZVA NOUGHAT FROM SPRINT.
