I need help with a few issues here before buying a tablet.
here are my issues with with the nexus 10
1.If i bought one now is it less likely to have really bad light bleed? extreme light bleed I know most tablets have some. Talking about like the yellow light bleed or the one all over the edges.
2.The charging if slow is fine but I watch alot of videos and play alot of games, is the pogo worth it? I've looked and can't find the answer to the question of "does the battery still drain while using the pogo while playing games or watching videos?"
3.Random reboots, dealt with it before but don't wanna drop 500 bucks and then after my return period be dealing with random reboots....any word from google or a fix here? Would using a custom rom help that?
4.Don't really have a store here that I can go to to play with it how is the upscaling on apps that dont have the app set up right? And do you think it will get better?
The other tablet that I'm looking at after discounting the TF700 cause the 1gb of ram bothers me for 500 dollars is the note 10.1
1.The resolution is a big factor seeing how my phone has a higher one then it and again 450 dollars? Kinda a buzz kill.
2.Stylus doesn't really matter I had a note 1 phone and never used it really.
3.I have a 16gb sd card as well so it would be 32gb vs 32gb.
4.The note is the closet thing to the nexus 10 without losing the extra ram (more future proofing then not) but if you know of others other than the TF700 that I might like let me know
In the end I would like to hear from some users on the nexus 10 issues mainly the charging and the light bleed. First tablet but long time flasher/custom rom user on android.
I decided to return my nexus 10 yesterday mainly due to random reboots and screen. I have never bought an electronic device that reboots so many times by itself on the first week. I have some light bleed but it is reasonable consider the size of the screen. What I have problem with is it started to have vertical streaks when I scroll up and down then disappear when I use it in portrait mode.
Now to be fair, please only take what I experienced with a grain of salt as you might have a better experience than me. I still think Nexus 10 is a great tablet and has potential but until Google figures out all these kinks, I won't drop $500 to become their QA person.

Hi there!
I currently have the Galaxy Nexus and looking to replace it with the Nexus 4. I have tried the phone several times in shops, read reviews and seen the hundreds of videos on Youtube and have noticed some negative things that might affect my purchase like:
1. Short battery life - even at 2100mAh and with minimal usage it still doesn't quite last for a whole day even on standby.
2. A not-so sharp screen - using this so-called "grey screen" test it was shown to be weaker than the previous-gen Galaxy Nexus
3. Wifi bugs - again when the phone is held in a specific way the wifi signal becomes affected
4. Muffled incoming calls
5. Frequency distortions when a headphone is connected
6. Weak & tiny speakers sound (just like Galaxy Nexus)
7. Very poor speaker grill placement
8. An "average" camera photos
Aside from the hardware issue has the other issues been resolved via software updates? And is Google aware of these issues?
We all know the wonderful and powerful specs (and OS) the Nexus 4 has but these issues seems to be on my head.
Please advice. Thanks.

1. My battery life is great.
2. I LOVE the screen. If you're used to amoled you may not, since amoled is as ugly as sin.
3. My WiFi always work great, sooo?
4. The hell? It sounds fine.
5. If it's there, I haven't noticed.
6 and 7 are linked in my opinion. One causes the other. I have zero issue with the earpiece.
8. The galaxy nexus had an "average camera" too. You can't sell a phone with this kind of hardware at this price and have the best of everything. If you think that you can, well, good luck with that philosophy. Also, a few seconds of editing really helps the pictures.
Honestly, I hope you don't buy a Nexus 4 because I hope to never see you here again.
Just my two cents:
1. Battery life is way better then my old HTC Sensation (like...i needed a spare battery for it if i had a long day at uni whereas my nexus last for a whole day of heavy use)
2. The screen is not AWESOME in stock, but it's pretty darn good. A custom kernel on the other hand makes it much much better then anything you have seen, trust me.
3. Wi-Fi working without issues here as well. I'm sure you're referring to the "Deathgrip" issue which mostsmartphones have...don't worry about it too much. You can always hold it in a different way if you find your wi-fi signal level unacceptable
4. Incoming call quality is top notch...didn't notice any problems. The earpiece is really loud even! I use it at minimum volume!
5. Didn't notice that either.
6. It's not too bad. There are audio mods which improve the volume and sound quality across the board (this applies to 5,6,7)
7. see above
8. The camera is much much better then the one in my old HTC Sensation. And i mean...MUCH BETTER!
So i guess it all depends on which phone you're coming for. Me? I'm extremely happy with my purchase
It doesn't appear that you want to buy the N4. That's fine, you've done your homework and came to a smart decision. But if you did as much research on the Galaxy Nexus you would have found similar complaints about it and would not now own it.

Solution for those problems:
Downloadnflash paranoid android or cm or just stick with stock.
Then flash Francos kernel, do some UVing and there you go. Use BBS(better battery stats) to find what's causing your drain if you ever do buy a nexus 4.

1... Battery life was okay on stock, after rooting it and throwing a custom kernel it is definitely better than my rooted galaxy nexus or s3 was.
2... I used to love superamoled. Switched to nexus and it was so so for a day or two, once I got used to it, amoled now looks unnatural and ugly.
3... WiFi isn't the strongest, but it works. If I connect upstairs, I get 1 bar max, same for any other phone. Never had a signal drop, no matter how I hold.
4... Dafuq?! Never had that issues
5... Same as 4!
6... Yea, it isn't HTC one speaker but is good lol
7... Yea, if I lay then phone flat, can't hear music at all pretty much.
8... They look good imo

As everyone else has pretty much already said:
1. No issues here
2. Personal preference, the screen is definitely 'sharper' than the GNex (326 vs 316 ppi, and that's not taking PenTile into account) but is less saturated. Colours look much better on LCD displays than on AMOLED in my opinion, my dad's GS3 looks awful now
3. No issues here
4. No issues here
5. No issues here
6. The earpiece seems fine to me. The rear speakers are extremely loud but quality isn't great, especially bass.
7. Have to live with this I'm afraid. I knew that putting the device down on a flat table would muffle the sound but I didn't know by how much. It's quite ridiculous really, but if you don't cover the speaker then I reiterate that it's fine for me.
8. I personally don't use the camera as much as others so I can't see any difference. To me, photos in good lighting look no worse than photos from an iPhone 5, GS3 or One X.
I think quite a lot of people have really bad impressions of the supposed 'issues' on this phone because of a few vocal users. There's really nothing wrong with most people's units afaik. I know 5 others who have N4s (people apparently have good taste in my school) and none of them have any significant issues whatsoever. I have only a very minor complaint with mine which is that if you stroke the volume button upwards (that's right, I said stroke) there's an almost inaudible creaking noise. That probably shows you how happy I am with this device.
Well, i did my homework when it comes to reviews online from well-known websites (Amazon UK, CNET, GSM arena, etc.) but i haven't decided if the Nexus 4 is NOT for me or not. I am merely expressing my views on what i read and what i read or seen on video reviews are always there, always (almost) consistent and always the same problems.
Sure it might be a factory defect or a very select few but still it causes me to do some thinking.
Why is the "deathgrip" issues still there regardless of what phone you have?
I usually (and most of the times) hold the phone in my left hand. And that basically covers the speaker grill at the back. It's not like ALL THE TIME and not all the time i'm expecting a phone call whilst i'm holding my phone with my left hand. I just think it's a bad place to place the speaker grill.
Has anyone actually tried the "grey screen test" for the screen to check for any inconsistencies or broken pixels or something?
So far all of you say the battery life issue ISN"T an issue at all. I'm just slightly worried that all reviews i read say otherwise. I still think with the specs the N4 has the minimum battery capacity should be 2300mAh or even more. I have an extended-life battery 2300mAh for my Galaxy Nexus. I charge it for 7 hours overnight. Use it to commute to & from work. Whilst at work i put it on Airplane mode and don't use it that much. When i go home i put it on normal mode. By 9pm the battery is down to 30% and it goes downhill from there. And this is whilst the wifi is turned-onat home and doing the basics of tasks like checking my Twitter, Instagram, updating apps and minimal news and stuff. So with that in mind i still think 2100mAh is not enough.
Regarding the camera photos quality...well i'm not into ROM's or MODs etc. I want mine the stock Android. But if anyone has anything in mind like apps to improve/tweak the camera and improve the battery life then i would greatly appreciate it.
Does the Nexus 4 have "HD voice"? And does it have some kind of noise cancellation when hearing from the earpiece or making a phone call so it stays clear even if your in a noisy environment?
I await all your replies. Thanks.

And that's perfectly fair enough. I agree that many trusted websites appear to give the N4 below average reviews, but I personally can see absolutely no reason why

Well it's not there for me so I can't comment here. Never had it, don't know anyone who's complained about it.

Agreed. Awful speaker placement, which isn't helped at all by the fact that the back is completely flat.
Has anyone actually tried the "grey screen test" for the screen to check for any inconsistencies or broken pixels or something?
I haven't but I can tell you from simple usage that there's nothing wrong with the screen. A custom kernel definitely helps a lot, but if you leave it as stock you'll still be happy.

I don't think there's any HD voice, but there is a noise cancelling mic on the top. Either that, or my phone has a random hole in it
I await all your replies. Thanks.

Since you haven't numbered it this time, I just answered in red
With 4.2.1 stock, it was too aggressive when it came to onlining cores so you'd end up with 4 online cores when reading Facebook lol. Which is cool for project butter, but isn't too battery efficient. Even if you don't root it, 4.2.2 is better when it comes to stuff like that, so battery life is definitely not like it used to be. Most reviews are based on 4.2.1, so...
The only other phone I'd trade this nexus for is lumia 920, but I don't want an unlocked version and T-Mobile doesn't have it. The reason I'd take that is due to me loving Xbox music so much.
Even new phones coming out, yea, they are pretty beefy but don't offer stock android experience. To me, I always found touch wiz laggy and ugly. Sense ui was decent, but too buggy and updates never came. Point is, I personally love stock android, it feels so smooth, even if benchmarks don't reflect it. If you like stock, definitely the phone to go with.
Sound quality is great, noise canceling is good. I used to have gs3 and there were a lot more times when people had issues hearing me when it was windy.
Camera is good, it isn't lumia 920 type camera, but it does take good pictures, flash is pretty good too. I found galaxy nexus camera to be crap, I'm happy with this one.
I dunno what carrier you plan on using, but connectivity is much better for me then galaxy nexus. Not only does it support hspa42, which literally gives me 22mbps vs 10mbs I used to get, but it stays connected to hspa better. But, it still isn't as good as some other phones still because I know that couple of times I'd get stuck on edge when I shouldn't.
I like the way this touchscreen is too, seems more responsive than gnexus was.

I am not a fan of custom kernels, rooting or CM ROM's and i would prefer the "normal" updates here & there by Google/LG.
If there is an app to somehow (not magically but if it were then the better) make the speakers louder, make the photos more saturated/sharper/more contrast and further improve the battery life (instead of the usual turning off the GPS, bluetooth, brightness, etc.) then i would be happy with.
Speaker volume is great, it's just the quality that you may need to worry about

I'll answer your questions from what I've experienced.
1.Not sure what you've been doing, but I've been getting 15+ hours and I'm only down to 47%. I use the internet now and then, and play games alot during school.
2. I'm not sure what you're talking about, but it's still a really good screen. I'm not one to be picky of the screen, but i'm happy with it. Only thing I wish was if the colors were more true, but hey, it's still a really really good phone. One of the best, if not the best phone in market.
3. That's never happened to me. No matter which way I hold it, I still get good wifi wherever I am.
4. Muffled calls? That's never happened to me. I can clearly hear the person on the other end all the time.
5. Never even heard of this before. The only thing I can think of causing this would be having an app that wasn't fully compatible with the software/rom on your phone.
6. Coming from the mytouch 4g, the speaker on this phone is really an upgrade. Although it isn't the best on the market, its still pretty loud and you can make it louder if you want with a mod like Eizo.
7. No comment on this, it's the design of the phone. If you let the placement of something ruin your chance of having a good phone, i'm sorry ,but that's ridiculous.
8. Camera photo quality for me is awesome. With the new HDR function android camera's, it makes pictures just as high quality as iphone pictures. Only thing that annoys me is the speed of the camera when HDR is activated. It has to take 3 pictures and blends them together to create one high res picture, but the outcome is worth it.
I'm not one to go looking for problems, but all the problems that have happened to me, they've all been solved with updates for the ROM i'm using, or i just find a solution myself to solve the problem. None the less, a lot of the problems people face can be solved by using the search bar and looking for a solution, or with an update to the software or ROM on your phone.
Once again, this is all from my perspective. Others might have a different opinion on this. In the end, this is still an amazing phone. Better than the iPhone IMO (except the camera.) It's your choice if you want to get this compared to the other phones in the market.

I think there are some apps in the app market that can do that. Volume + , or volume boost, just search volume booster or something.
I'm actually choosing between the Nexus 4 and the slightly older Optimus 4X HD which was made by LG (same as the N4) and has been plagued by almost the same issues especially that LG is notoriously known for very poor customer support and very slow updates. but the Optimus itself is an amazingly-specced phone.
No contest?
A good 2nd choice for the Nexus 4 you think?

My advice: Get Nexus 4. I currently own an Optimus 4X HD, despite it's great specs, I must say this phone is a let down.
Why you shouldn't get an O4X:
1. Battery performance super sucks. I managed only to get 12 hours with light usage (I mean, LIGHT)
2. Tegra chipset isn't really compatible with some games. I tried NFS, Nova and it's laggy
3. Update support is extremely poor. I'm still stuck with 4.0.3 and JB update is still indefinite to arrive
Browse O4X thread and see for yourself how many O4X users are unhappy with their handsets.
So, get a N4 and live a happy life.

The specs of the 4X HD looked great until I saw the words 'Tegra 3' on GSMarena. You'll be very frustrated with the performance of the Tegra 3, it's quite an awful chipset. Sure, there are tonnes of Tegra optimised apps, but the fact of the matter is that my friend's One X on JB still lags due to the Tegra 3. Even relatively light games such as Super Hexagon (you should try it out if you haven't) and Temple Run 2 (I know it isn't that light but for a phone of this gen it shouldn't be a problem) lag on it.

Then i have to say that the nexus is not the device for you. The coolest thing bout nexus devices is that they are really easy to mod and customize. If you don't plan on doing that, there's no point in getting a nexus device. However, the N4 has the added bonus of being cheap but it still might not be enough for some users (yourself included apparently)
The reason why i'm not a fan of custom kernels and ROMs is maybe perhaps i haven't done it before and i might further "damage" the phone's OS and i might not be able to revert the OS back to its factory settings.
I'm still quite happy with JB on my Galaxy Nexus. The stock version of JB is very slick and i would imagine how even more smoother it is on the Nexus 4.
So far the complaints of the O4XHD has been kind of a viscious circle. Lag has been the word for today. And the fact that it has no JB makes it even more frustrating. I have just emailed LG and their reply re: my list of issues is that there has "been no known issue" with the said phone and they have no word as to when JB is incoming.
The Nexus 4 has still its flaws i think and that doesn't mean it is that good. But now, i'm more geared toward this phone as a "safe" choice rather than the O4XHD.
may i ask sth as well..
regarding the sensitivity issue on the screen, is it regarded as a software issue, or a hardware one?
i m currently thinking of buying a nexus 4, but i m kind of worried about the sensitivity issue, and i keep seeing people complaining about it http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=40445 is there any official response on this issue?
Hey all! You've probably seen me posting around here before. My Nexus 10 is arriving Friday to a postal shop, and I'm picking it up this coming weekend! I'm stoked. I sold my old ASUS Transformer TF300T for this thing. I couldn't stand the poor I/O; it was sad that my Galaxy Nexus was outpacing it, even on CyanogenMod 10.1.
FIRST THINGS FIRST: I live in Canada. I can't go to Wal-Mart and pickup one of these things to play with - I'm only relying on online reviews and the threads here on XDA and elsewhere.
Anyway, I am by no means an Android newbie. I originally had an ASUS Transformer TF101, and upgraded to the TF300. Soon after, I got myself a Galaxy S, then decided that I wanted the updates of Nexus (I even had CyanogenMod running on my Galaxy S - poor thing) and the fluidity/overall performance of Nexus.
Which is where I stand now. Anyway, on to the point on this thread! I have questions.
1. I know the Nexus 10's display is impressive. What I want to know is: what does everyone think of the color? I want personal opinions. Does it impact you day-to-day, is it something you notice consciously? Does it bother you all the time? Is it good, just not nearly as realistic as - say - the iPad? (I hate making that comparison, but it IS the benchmark for accuracy).
2. What kind of defects should I look for? For instance, what kind of battery life should I expect? Level of light bleed? I've read all the threads, but again - I want some personal opinions of what I should expect on an average model.
3. Should I get the Pogo connector?
4. USB OTG. How does it work? I've heard of Nexus Media Importer - does it allow me to read any format of media file? Does it give me file system access? Does it only work with music/pictures? I know I need root if I REALLY want full OTG access, but I'm not planning on it (might stay stock for quite a while).
5. Build quality. Should I expect any creaking/snapping?
6. Last question - what does everyone think of the quality of the front-facing speakers? I know they're impressive, but again I want opinions.
Thanks for reading all this, I hope I'm not too much of a bother!
Best wishes to all;
~Walkop
You have no idea what you're getting yourself into. I suggest taking the unopened Nexus 10 package, and tossing it in a fire to save yourself the trouble :good:
Jk of course, you should be very impressed with it
1. I don't notice anything wrong with the colors on my N10. I never compared my N10 to an iPad up-close, but comparing it to one in a display case at a Walmart, I didn't really notice a difference. I hear people mention the iPad has better colors, but some picture comparison done showed that the iPad had too saturated colors, and lacked "finer" details
2. Check 100% brightness on a pure black screen for any backlight bleed. Then see if you can notice that same bleed (if any) under normal conditions. On mine, I notice the bleed in one corner with max brightness and black background, but not at all under any other condition. Another defect to look for is if the back plastic "clicks", "pops", or you can press it inward. Normally, you shouldn't be able to do any of that because it would be glued/stuck to the battery. Also I think some people mentioned how there was a "hole" near one of the speaker grills.
3. I find it nice, but wish it did a bit more. If you want fast charging and want a bottom-mounted charger, and also want to reduce wear and tear on the USB port, it's worth it. The faster charging isn't "significant" though, and in some scenarios and particular tablets (some Nexus 10 have different voltage tablets I think; use more or less power), it might not charge faster than it's being used (max brightness, resource-demanding game; USB charging would be the same case but worse).
4. Haven't used USB OTG from Android itself. All I know is I can take a 8GB flash drive formatted in FAT32, and flash stuff in TWRP without issue.
5. Build quality of my tablet is fine. Just check for those common defects mentioned in #2.
6. They are very impressive. I took them for granted, until I did a sound test with a Nexus 7, Nexus 4, and Visual Land Connect tablet. Then the Nexus 10's speakers really stood out as impressive
espionage724 is pretty dead on, although I haven't had any issues with mine other then slight bleeding on each of the short sides which is only noticeable with the bleed app or on boot as a slight dull discoloration. The main thing to look for with the backlight bleed app is discoloration with the solid colors. If you see slight bleed don't worry if all the solid colors are not affected.
As far as gamma, it looks great, sure I notice its off a bit if its side by side with my wife's iPad 4, but not while I am using it. Its an amazing piece of android hardware and you will love it.
Since you asked and being a Techie myself, here's my opinion and experience on the Nexus 10.
1) The display is great. I have read a lot about the light bleed that occurs but haven't experienced it myself. Color reproduction is great. The quality of the text and also pictures/movies is stunning. It does fall short when compared with iPad 4 but not by much and will not affect your day-to-day productivity in any way. In short, it is one of the best displays in the market.
2) Defects that come to my mind - is the vibrator module. For some reason my vibrator seems very weak. But then since I haven't used / seen any other Nexus 10 apart from mine, I do not know if it is a defect. Also, I have read in a couple of communities people complain that the back of the Nexus 10 (camera region) tends to get extremely hot on minimal load. If this happens to your tablet then it may be defective.
3) The USB charging is slow but if you are like me ( i leave it overnight for charging), then you many not need the POGO connector. Anyways, a single charge for me lasts me through the day without any problems.
4) I have the USB OTG that I bought for my S3 and that works for the tab as well. I was able to connect a USB hub to it and use a keyboard and mouse simultaneously. I was also able to connect my USB flash drive to it and did not face any problems accessing the files via the USB OTG (my tablet is rooted).
5) No problems with the build quality. One thing about the build that I really liked was the rubbery feel to the back of the tablet. It easily prevents the tablet from slipping.
6) This seems to be one of the best design decisions made by Google and Samsung. The volume of the speakers is impressive and the sound reproduction is good. Seeing movies/listening to music on this tablet will be an immersive experience.
with no new nexus device announcement at Google I/O. i went ahead and ordered one too! will get mine this monday
Thanks for this topic, had many of the same questions.
Hey guys with the google play edition coming out for this device, I plan to buy it but I have a few questions. I initially bought the Nexus 7 2013 edition, and had multiple problems with the build quality and went through two of them in a week, so I decided to buy an iPad 4 but I'm not a huge fan of iOS. I want to sell my iPad 4 and buy this, if you guys could answer a few of my questions it would be much appreciated
1. one of the things I enjoyed about my iPad 4 was how i was able to charge it while using it and it increasing in battery life, compared to the Nexus 7 actually decreasing in battery life when it was charging in use...how does the g pad handle this?
2. How is the battery life in general? I've heard some negative things but it has double the capacity of the nexus 7, and with stock android on it I assume it should be a lot better. Is 8 hours of screen on time realistic? My iPad is about 10 hours and with the g pad being smaller I know it would obviously not last as long
3. How is the build quality in general? Are there any known issues?
4. Lastly how is the screen quality? Some people have been complaining about the yellow tint, is that prevalent on all devices?
5. How easy is it to transfer app data from the internal storage to the microSD card after rooting? Does it work on kitkat?
Thanks guys!

1. Haven't tried this yet
2. So far battery life last about a day, sometimes longer. It does seem to get better and better but remember the google edition will probably have better battery life because it wont have the LG stuff on it.
3. Build quality itself is good. A few screen were having defects but I think/hope that has been fixed
4. For the V500's it appears to be hit and miss some are yellow and some are fine. We are hoping to fix this with kernel mods. The google edtion might not suffer from this
5. I think kitkat has this built in and should be easy. If not there are nice root apps for this

It comes with 1.8A charger that should be sufficient to charge the device while it is being used, it is hard to believe the scenario you described with N7. Were you charging it through a computer/car charger
2. How is the battery life in general? I've heard some negative things but it has double the capacity of the nexus 7, and with stock android on it I assume it should be a lot better. Is 8 hours of screen on time realistic? My iPad is about 10 hours and with the g pad being smaller I know it would obviously not last as long. After rooting the device you can use greenify to take care of bad apps. There are inbuilt features in the LG rom to turn apps off. Battery life is sufficient. If you cannot make it through the day you spend to much time on your tablet. And I highly doubt you were far from power source on the first place so battery life is kinda irrelevant.
3. How is the build quality in general? Are there any known issues? Feels like a premium produce. Nothing to complain
4. Lastly how is the screen quality? Some people have been complaining about the yellow tint, is that prevalent on all devices? It's a bit yellowish, so it wasn't calibrated like an Apple product for sure. I use 245 247 255 RGB and it is much better than stock. Once GPE hits development stages will probably have full gamma support.
5. How easy is it to transfer app data from the internal storage to the microSD card after rooting? Does it work on kitkat? There are apps for that if you do not feel like doing the hard work yourself. I've been a long time nexus user so others will be a better help with this one. That said, I have an SD on the way for that purpose.
Thanks guys!

1. Thanks for the response, the battery on my nexus did not decrease much when I used it while charging. I would use it for a half and hour and the percentage would decrease by about 2% while charging..while my iPad would increase 10% while charging it using the same amount of time.
2. Battery is more important to me than most people because I can't afford a smartphone and my family doesn't have cable and my computer is horrible (I use my iPad to type documents for school). But yes I probably do use it too much lol
3. That's good because I have had horrible experience with Asus build quality and that's what turned me off to Android tablets...I'd rather pay a 100 bucks more for better quality...I love the Android operating system itself though
4. Hopefully the Google Play Edition fixes this issue, but if not I can just root it thanks for the suggestion
5. Ok I'm sure I can figure it out I'm very experienced with rooting, good thing this is available because there is only a 16GB internal storage variant. Wish there was 32GB but oh well
I'll probably wait a few weeks and check out the reviews, and maybe a new Nexus 10 will be released by then too haha thanks again for responding!
1. Mine charged while I was using it last night. Wasn't paying attention to the numbers, but it did go up. It won't charge faster than it drains while connected to the computer though. I would expect the clean ROM on the GPE version to use less battery, so you'd have even better luck with this.
2. ~5-6 hours screen-on time seems to be the max with the non-GPE version. GPE version will probably do better, but I have no idea by how much. It's definitely no iPad in this department.
3. Feels pretty solid to me. The back flexes a bit (as in, if you squeeze it, you can feel it give a little), but everything else feels fine.
4. Screen quality seems to vary. Mine is pretty good - no blue line at the edge, very little light bleed, only a slight bit of yellow tint (I have blue set to +7 in the Screen Adjuster app). Others have horrible light bleed, a blue line on the edge of the screen, and very strong yellow tint.
5. Haven't tried to do this yet.
Are there any hardware issues? For example, I considered the G5 until I found out it has GPS issues. Then the Axon 7 seemed to be my dream phone until I learned it has an over aggressive power saving app killer that results in music playback being stopped when sceen is off, that's a huge deal breaker.
So I'm wondering if the 6P has any inevitable hardware faults and also how the battery has held up after long time ownership. Thanks much in adance

Hi... There are a few issues.
Check these threads..:

Also can get a bit hot during intensive tasks or game playing (thanks to snapdragon 810)
What else... I don't have anything else in mind at the moment...

Bought mine in November last year. No regrets. Love the lowlight pics and stereo speakers. Latest monthly security patches. Pixel mod. No battery issues. Not tempted by any other phone.

The only phone I can see really competing with the 6p at a price point of $400 or less is the One Plus 3t. Its like Nexus software (vanilla Android) that a dev got to and modded with all the extra goodies (customizations), has the most up to date CPU/GPU (till the S8 is released). What it's lacking in comparison to the 6P... 6P has front facing stereo speakers, QHD display (3T has 1080p) Faster updates, monthly security patches.
I personally can't give up my 6P to anything offered currently. I may consider the One Plus 4 if it has the SD835 in the fall but I think you won't do much better then the 6P at that price point.
The Nexus6p is worth the treat and especially on XDA!

Ya. 3T and axon 7 are close rivals. I thought of getting the axon 7 but a friend beat me to it. Glad I didn't. After playing with it, everything else is a downgrade except the speakers. With the latest software every month, I can't imagine going back to outdated software, even if it's only a month.
If it's new and still in box then I would say that it's definitely a solid deal. With that being said I'm sure you can find one that has been used that's still in good condition for a little under $300 depending on where you look.

Maybe, but that battery issue I fully believe is from ppl not knowing or understanding how to take care of their battery. Most ppl don't know when or how to charge the battery. My battery is exactly 1 year old, bought my phone mid February last year and I still have 93% of my battery capacity. Most I read are well into 60% or lower that have this battery issue. So I'm thinking it's mainly cause by ppl letting their batteries get below 15-10% regularly. Look up and read about charge cycles on battery university of you don't understand what I'm saying.
No issues whatsoever, a highly recommended phone.

I understand what you're saying and I know about charge cycles of batteries of different types and structural integrity but I will have to disagree about it being a user error. I just sent in RMA number 6, had it for a week, battery health was 98%. I never let my devices die after a bad experience I had with the Samsung Galaxy SII. Battery died on it and it never turned back on until I got a new battery. That was years ago though.
The other reason I don't think it's a battery issue.....it's happening to brand new Pixel devices.
Don't get me wrong, I love the 6P and I think it's a good device. But this late in the game, I would say pass because of what's happening to them, and the specs of it....processor wise that is.
i got mine for 200 euro
Don't buy one that doesn't come with a full warranty --and if available an extended warranty might not be a bad deal for this particular phone. The problem is that too many people are experiencing boot looping that turns the 6P into an expensive paper weight if you don't have a warranty. The phone is great if you don't get a lemon.

The "battery issue" is not so common. It looks common because those with issues will likely post/complain about the issue versus those that do not have issues.
Those without any issues generally don't start threads about issues or post in threads saying "no issues" since it doesn't apply to them.
I'll also like to add that there are reports of other phones with the shut down issue, with some saying it could be software related. I could recall Franco talking about voltage drops or something along those lines in relation to cold environments.
Truth is, every phone will have their share of issues. Find the one that best suits you. Some may say it's worth it while others could disagree. I personally wouldn't spend over $250 on a cell phone.

Dude have you seen Reddit? I'm sorry but what's your definition of large?! Just saying. Lets not try to down play the issue. Just because everyone doesn't complain about it, doesn't mean it's not a lot of people having the issue.
I'd say no.
I love this phone and the front facing speakers, but let's be real, here. The 810, however well optimized in this phone, still isn't the greatest. Battery life is all over the place. It can be good if you use battery saving profiles, turn off a lot of functions, and can deal with stuttering. If you want buttery smooth UI, battery life is around 3-4 hours of screen time, if you're lucky.
It can get hot, too.
For $370, I'd rather get a OnePlus 3T. Yeah it doesn't have the front facing speakers or a 1440p AMOLED display. But it trumps the 6P performance wise and battery life wise.
If you could find one for maybe $300, max, then I'd say it's a decent deal. But $370 for a 2 year old phone with a flawed soc? You can do better.

I haven't heard of any new device having the issue, just older phones. But all said and done, I would certainly be looking at the One Plus 3T. I think if anyone is not going to wait for a phone with the SD835 in it then I'd look at the 3T. It doesn't have the front facing stereo speakers and and its only 1080p but I'd probably only get the 6P if those are important the buyer.
I got mine when it was released in Germany in November 2015. I'm very satisfied with it. No problems with this strange battery bug, everything's fine here.
Phone is running smoothly, I can't complain. I think it's a good price and you don't have to worry - you just have to keep in mind that it's a bit older phone regarding the specs. But it's still great!
