My I9505 will no longer record video. If I try video capture using the camera app I get "Camera failed". Dashcam apps (e,g, Autoguard) are also unable to capture video. Still images capture fine.
I'm running Phoenix ROM v9.0 (Android 4.4.2).
Does this sound like a hardware fault?
It sounds like a software problem. Try a full wipe, if that doesnt work then try a different more clean rom.

Factory reset .
jje
have you changed your screen density, if so this can cause force close on Cam.
This also happens if your battery is below 15%
I get this the same time the sound fails. And won't play videos.
How do you do a factory reset?
if i do it in the menu it deletes everything but its still at KE2 ?? That wasn't on it at the factory.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
whats the actual error you are getting, I dont recognise "camera failed", you usually get a "force close" or nothing, are you sure it says "camera failed"?
Mine is definitely "Camera Failed"

Did you clear your ram memory ?
Hi, google it, there looks to be a few things that cause this, Have you tried installing a free cam app from the market?, is this works then it would suggest a minor issue with the app which should be correctable by reinstalling it or reflashing your phone. (if you relash and restore using titaniuim dont restore system apps like camera as this can cause problems.
I use camera 360 pro, its pretty good.
I've got Camera failed too..
Hi.

Did you flash or try any camera firmware updates?
Try flashing your phone back to MGA stock, and then try again.

bump please help.
Try wiping data from the camera apps first in settings/more/apps/all apps. Are you on a stock rom or custom?, if on stock do a data factory reset or reflash the rom with (Mobile) Odin. If you`re on a custom rom reflash with full wipe.
Hi! I recently encoutered a new "bug" or something like that, the problem si I can't play any videos at all, not youtube, not flash, facebook, gallery or anything. It always gives me a bug like "Can't play this video" "Encountered an error touch to retry" I even tried to install another rom, didn't work then either, tried cleaning cache, and dalvik but nothing seems to work.
If anyone where to have an answer I would greatly appriciate it.
Thanks in advance!

That didn't work, nor did installing a "stable" version of cm11. I can't play audio at all, nor can I watch videos, make calls or anything audio related. Any Ideas?
Hey there,
I just installed the latest CM 12.1 Nightly release on my Samsung Galaxy S4 I9500 and the camera doesn't seem to work. It just pops up a message saying "Cannot connect to camera." and the app closes. I tried downloading other camera apps such as Cymera, Google Camera, etc. but it doesn't seem to help. I also tried the CM 12 Camera fix application over the PlayStore but that doesn't seem to help either. I tried using another rom by the name "Euphoria" for my phone and the camera seemed to be working fine there but with other major issues in the rom itself.
I'd appreciate any help on the topic.
Camera issues are a well-known problem with Cyanogenmod, due to incomplete driver support. Reboot your device to reenable the camera, and download an app like CameraMX that includes its own binaries to control the camera. Try not to use the stock camera.

Thank you for the reply.
I did try installing the 'CameraMX' and also 'Camera Ultimate 360' but both of them don't seem to work either. I don't get any camera error pop-ups and it is the only difference, I could witness from the stock camera app but, the camera is just a black screen in those apps. I guess I will have to stick with the nightly updates in hope for a camera fix.
EDIT : Rebooting my phone doesn't help either.
me 2 i installed android 7.1.2 and some while she stopped work and also the flash camera
After updating from last build my video camera is failing in both stock and google camera , and other third party camera apps. I have uninstalled, cleared cache and Data and tried Safe mode. Nothing is working error is "Something went wrong, Part of video has not saved" is there anything I can do short of a factory reset? I can record video in Instagram and I can make video calls from telegram. Camera MX can record but fails at saving when recording is stopped.
Having the same issue with the latest version of 17.1
Have you found a solution?
I did a factory reset and accidentally ruined my Esim, and then reverted to stock for now PITA.
I did not have TWRP installed at the time just los stock recovery... I would have liked to have tried clearing data cache etc before doing a full factory reset (which didn't fix the camera issue) reverting to stock did but the options were not available
Found a solution!
CERTAIN AOSP roms have an options to spoof your phone as a PIXEL XL.
Namely:"UNLOCK HIGH FPS IN GAME" and "UNLIMITED PHOTO STORAGE".JUST TURN IT OFF AND RESTART. THIS SHOULD FIX THE PROBLEM.HOPE IT HELPS
Also Disable "Allow Signature Spoofing".

The phone is gone but this is important for anyone else in the future. Thank you this is great to know for any other future issues. Although I am not sure it was a signature spoofing issue as I was bone stock lineage OS with no mods and spoofing is not supported/enabled by default
Yea just wanted to share what worked for me!
