Description
A Nexus 5 Boot Animations Collection from multiple sources and authors.
Disclaimer
I am not responsible for anything that happens to your device. By downloading and flashing or installing these zips, you automatically agree that I won't be held liable for anything that happens to your phone.
Background
I've chopped, cropped, scaled, twisted, and tweaked some existing animations to work on the Nexus 5 (or many other devices with a 1080x1920 display).
My goals are simple: quick load times, reduced stutter and hesitation during playback, and quality images. I'm happy with what I'm seeing on the 5-inch N5 screen: smooth, clear animations with no hiccups.
These animations are visually appealing to me and fit within the 10-11 second display time provided by a Vanilla AOSP 4.4.3 build.
Installation
Animations are provided in two formats: a "flashable" archive (noted as "TWRP") that installs to /system/media/, and a manually-installed bootanimation.zip file (noted as "Manual").
Before attempting to install anything, rename your existing /system/media/bootanimation.zip file to something like "old-bootanimation.zip"; to recover, you can simply delete the new installed file and revert the old file back to its original name.
To install via flashable zip (after renaming the original file in /system/media/), put it somewhere on your "SD card" (internal storage), reboot to recovery, install the file and reboot.
You can manually install the bootanimation.zip file to /system/media/ and use a file manager with ROOT access to copy the file and change the permissions to 644 (rw,r,r).

How about some Odds-N-Ends:
I'll post these here for now. These are animations that: I've helped others with, had requests for a one-off variation, or aren't necessarily in line with my vision of what a boot animation should be. Folks might find them interesting all the same.
You'll have to rename them to "bootanimation.zip", manually install, and set permissions to 644.
75 Years of Batman -
No Text - manual install | TWRP flashable
Inverted - manual install | TWRP flashable
Spotlight - manual install | TWRP flashable
Modified from Christian Tailor's excellent vision. I kept the same number of frames as the original source, but enlarged the logos within the frame. The original GIF was a full 20 seconds; I sped things up and the main animation is just over 12.5 seconds. I've also created a custom end loop that matched the animation. Check out "Spotlight" and "Inverted", my tweaks on the original. A 500-frame "beast".
AndroidOne Oreo - Black and White - @edwaine asked for a 720p version of the original 1080p white version. I decided to make 1080p and 720p black versions while I was at it. The included white 1080p version here is simply the original in a flashable format.

AndroidOne Oreo - White - 720p - TWRP flashable

AndroidOne Q - 10 - Black and White - @edwaine asked for black and white 720p, 1080p, and 1440p versions of the LG G7 AndroidOne animation, replacing the LG logos with simple Google logos . NOTE: these animations are for ALL 6.0+ ROMs; the original version had unnecessary TRIM files that prevented compatibility with earlier Android versions.

ASUS Zenfone 3 & 4 - While looking at possible phone upgrades, I came across these ASUS animations; both had issues:
The Zenfone 3 used small cropped images that cut into gradients; these images were then posted on full 1080p black backgrounds. Starting with original sources, the frames were rebuilt to improve the cropping; the frames are now physically smaller for faster loads.
The Zenfone 4 had an odd gray gradient background, but only used part of the screen, giving an odd, windowed effect. The background is now solid black; the animation was scaled 150%, so it's not quite the "postage stamp" it was.
Zenfone 3 (Third Generation, 2016) Enhanced - 1080p - TWRP flashable
Zenfone 4 (Fourth Generation, 2017) Solid Black Background - 1080p - TWRP flashable
At-At Walker - 1440p:
Big - TWRP flashable
Small - TWRP flashable
Had a request for this in 1440p. The 1080p version is in Post #2.
DC vs. Marvel - manual install
My tweak on the port from this forum. I started from scratch, extracting the frames from the original source. I also tweaked the Batman transition with an outline rather than a solid gray background; doing so allowed an unscaled 1080p final animation with a small framesize. At just under 500 total frames, it's a monster and can't truly "loop".
DerNero's Android - manual install
From this OnePlusOne forum. Most folks were having issues with getting it to run. I adjusted the frame dimensions, and created an overlay to crop and clean up the image outline. It's a simple animation, but the strobing colors are kinda neat.
Jarvis (from Iron Man) - manual install | TWRP flashable
From this Nexus 5X forum. @Ydriod got this animation started, but it was in MP4 format. I converted it to frames, cut, chopped, and reduced the overall main animation time from 24 seconds to just over 14.
Kingdom Hearts - manual install
@DrakenFX had this sitting in a thread HERE, and I loved the way it looked; it was short though. I added an ending loop, and I'm pleased with the way it turned out.
Moto/Lenovo:
Motorola E - manual install | TWRP flashable - Originally in MP4 format, the animation is doing a single pass with an ending android loop.
MotoSimple - TWRP flashable - Someone asked for a "basic" B&W 1080p frames animation for Moto phones; modified from the MotoG5Plus Nougat loop.
MotoSimple for 7.1+ ROMs- TWRP flashable - Same animation as above, using TRIM files and no scaling.
MotoG6Plus - TWRP flashable - Converted to a 1080p "frames" version for AOSP/LOS ROMs
Nexus 5 BIOS - Definitely a one-off. @L.F.B. requested this and did some work to get things started. Each animation frame had to be manually recreated using a word processor. There are no intentions of doing this for any other phone models. Please.

Nougat 7.1 - Pulled from the Pixel and Pixel XL ROMs. Looks very close to the "Google Evolved" animation in Post #2. @edwaine asked for the black background for a 7.1.1 N5 ROM. NOTE: Oreo 8.0 and later ROMs don't appear to support sound; the animation plays fine, but you won't hear audio.
The "7.1+ only" versions listed below are preferable for Nougat 7.1 and later ROMs; these animations use TRIM files to position the frames, and have WAV audio files. They won't behave correctly on Nougat 7.0 and earlier ROMs.
The "For All ROMs" animations have the sound and TRIM files REMOVED for compatibility with Nougat 7.0 and earlier ROMs.

Oreo 8.0 & Oreo 8.1/Pie 9.0 Bootanimations - Pie 9.0 uses the Oreo 8.1 animation - Official Oreo and Pie release bootanimations, including the original white background and a conversion to a black background.
The "7.1+ only" versions listed below are preferable for Nougat 7.1 and later ROMs; these animations use TRIM files to position the frames, and won't behave correctly on Nougat 7.0 and earlier ROMs.
The "For All ROMs" versions eliminate the TRIM files for compatibility with Nougat 7.0 and earlier ROMs; the 1080p/1440p versions use scaling, although most people won't notice the difference.

TechBurner's Oreo Version - @TechBurner created this beauty of an animation, a vision of what Android Oreo's boot animation could have looked like. This modification has been lightened considerably by file size, and additional bells, whistles, and twirls were added. The original thread for this animation can be found HERE. An even better Oreo animation by TechBurner can be found HERE; there's no reason to post this newer version here, as it works quite-well with the 1080p ROMs as-is.

@ozzmanj1 requested help with this one. I gave a walk-through on my conversion in this post. It's from a video game, and "cartoon-ish", but still neat.
Split - 1440p - TWRP flashable
@notAlwaysHappy found the original source for this animation HERE. Not having a name for it, I originally called it "Birth by Drowning". It's a beautiful, raw, gritty animation worth a view. The 1080p/N5 version can be found in Post #2 as "Split".
Twilight Zone - manual install | TWRP flashable
@bogarty had a similar intro in this thread. The animation was in Samsung's proprietary format and very small; I made my own version for the Nexus 5 "from scratch". The TZ intro is over 30 seconds in real-time. I've dropped it to about 12 seconds before a loop. The loop barely starts before jumping to the lockscreen under Marshmallow (about 14 seconds). Lollipop should fare OK (about 18 seconds), and I'm guessing that under KitKat it won't complete. I'm not complaining; I'll take 14 seconds over 33 any day.
Watch Dogs - 30 fps - Two versions
@ayush rao provided this version in this THREAD; neat boot, but the original 1080p version didn't work well on the N5. This conversion should work better.
Master Tech provided a version link in this YouTube video. I've tweaked it for better device compatibility, reduced the file size, and added a different end loop. This is a long animation, lasting just under 18 seconds before the end loop. At 31MB, it's also one of that largest animations that I've pushed (the source animation was 49MB).

Thank you. There are so many animations out there to choose from. I picked the ones that were clean and interesting.
On my phone's storage, I have a folder filled with the "flash-ables" I like; when I update my GApps or some other component via TWRP, I will switch between animations.
"Glow Nut 5", "Envisioned Android", "Sphere 1" and "Worm" are my current faves right now.
what an awesome thread! thank you sir.

I wish Google did something differently with boot animations... Giving the end-user a little more control. /data/local isn't necessarily the cleanest option, and there's no real GUI to manage things; a GUI should be stock, like Gallery. Actually, extending Gallery to manage boot animations in /data/local might work.
They never talk to me though. Heh.

Odd... The number-one downloaded animation is the Green Matrix one. I wouldn't have guessed that.

I agree. I stumbled across those, and thought that they looked sweet and deserved a position on the N5. The author had some other nice animations, but I wasn't sure whether there would be interest in those.
Thank you.

Power Cell - an old classic corrected and rotated. With it "fixed", there's a beautiful animation
Matrix (Red) - Not as bright as the green version
Nexus 7 - an older animation that actually scales fairly well
Space Masking 0 - another beauty by Admiral Potato
Robot Arm (Blue) - dug this out of the dust pile. It scaled well. Slowed-down the animation from 25 to 15 fps, added a circle loop.
Enjoy, folks!
I used nexus particles on my nexus 5.And it works like charm.Thank you sir

Thank you. I'm glad it's working well. Be sure and play with some of the others, too. I like to change them around via TWRP when I reboot the phone.

Hello, i just bought Nexus S i9020 from Carphone Warehouse UK, and just cant install ICS rooms. in ClockworkMod Recovery 3 it says:
assert failed: get.prop("ro,product.device") == "crespo" || get.prop("ro.build.product") == "crespo"
E:Error in /sdcard/cm_crespo-ota-eng.kalimochoaz.a20.p1.zip
Status 7
This is: [ROM] [i9020/23] CyanogenMod 9 v4.0.3 Alfa 20p1 room
Also tried MIUI: http://miuiandroid.com/2012/01/miui-rom-2-1-6-ics-v4-0-miuiandroid-english-version/
Update: just tried office stable build CM7.1, same...
I searched and found on other forum that this could be wrong device. But how is this possible, i know that it's Nexus S and not Nexus S 4G, and on the back where is SN it says i9020
And when going to ClockworkMod Recovery it takes about 1min to get there? for example booting to bootloader and then going to Recovery, and it loads CWM about 1min maybe longer. I also tried differenced recovery it also takes about 1 min to load, can’t remember how it called but i used Root Guide from this source: http://nexusshacks.com/nexus-s-hacks/how-to-root-nexus-s-or-nexus-s-4g-new/
I hope some one will know what is the problem. Thank you for your time.
Update your recovery. CWM is on version 5.
Also make sure you are installing via the install zip from SD card method and not the install update.zip
Sent from my Nexus S 4G using xda premium
you need to update your clockworkmod recovery to v5.X.X.X , your version is old.
Fast responce thank you

Looks like it was deleted.
I'm going to go with 'accidental deletion'
Last few pages of the thread were *awful* and they were probably being deleted.
or maybe it's temporarily missing whilst the admin splits the thread.
Hoping the new LP6v2 is okay as I'm downloading and wanting to flash. Was there any reports how it is? Safe to flash over v1? Wipe or not?

Seemed like a huge file (577 MB). Guess better to wipe data and then flash V2.
I've flashed LP6 repack v2 myself, over LP5 repack v1.
TW and S Note both FC the first time I opened them, but they're working great now. seems safe.
It's more serious than robbie hijacking the Alba thread, I fear; there's been mutual accusations concerning plagiarism between xaos and maxicet. One of them had reported the other two days ago, I think. I remember one of the devs posting that the matter was under review.
And this could be the outcome of the said review.
EDIT: Looks like the thread's back guys. and without the last few pages of awful-ness.
thanks to the mod who cleaned that up. =)
Hi there,
I was wondering if there are any plans to develop a ROM for the J500Y model, because so far I couldn't find one.
Best,
andreas301
Flash the J500F-M-G version, see if it boots, report on forum thread
I'm currently running ResurrectionRemix v5.8.3 (7.1.2) on my J500Y. First I downloaded the ROM for "J500F-M-G" on my PC and then extracted it using WinRAR, then I opened the file > META-INF > com > google > android, then I opened the updater-script using Notepad++, I then removed the assert line (looks like this, can be a bit longer on certain ROMs:
Code:
assert(getprop("ro.product.device") == "j5lte" || getprop("ro.build.product") == "j5lte" || abort("E3004: This package is for device: j5lte; this device is " + getprop("ro.product.device") + "."););
) then I rezipped it and moved it onto my phone then flashed it using TWRP (MAKE SURE YOU ARE ON A LOLLIPOP ROM/BOOTLOADER BEFORE FLASHING, I used the J500F version of TWRP just to make sure it flashed, not sure if it was a necessary step, but if flashing it using the J500Y TWRP after removing the assert lines doesn't work, then try again after flashing the J500F TWRP using Odin) this should work with almost every nougat ROM that can run on the J500F variant, so far I haven't even needed to remove the assert line when flashing a marshmallow custom ROM so there is always that if you still can't get nougat working for you for some reason.
I recently bought an unlocked OnePlus 5 128GB and decided I wanted to root it and install another ROM. So, I did the standard flash of TWRP 3.2.3 for Cheeseburger and also successfully installed Magisk and Substratum. I found myself in an infinite boot screen after applying a Substratum theme so decided to factory reset the phone and start from scratch.
However, I stupidly managed to wipe the phone's OS as well as everything on it when going to factory reset, so now I'm just stuck in TWRP. I cannot install the stock OP5 ROM from the official OnePlus website and have also tried several others such as LineageOS. I've tried all the instructions on this thread to get back to stock but I always receive the dreaded:
Code:
Updater process ended with ERROR: 7
I get this even with the STOCK OnePlus 5 ROM, so there are no "assert" lines in the "updater-script" file like in LineageOS's ROM:
Code:
assert(getprop("ro.product.device") == "cheeseburger" || getprop("ro.build.product") == "cheeseburger" ||
getprop("ro.product.device") == "OnePlus5" || getprop("ro.build.product") == "OnePlus5" ||
getprop("ro.product.device") == "oneplus5" || getprop("ro.build.product") == "oneplus5" || abort("E3004: This package is for device: cheeseburger,OnePlus5,oneplus5; this device is " + getprop("ro.product.device") + "."););
assert(oneplus.file_exists("/dev/block/bootdevice/by-name/vendor") == "1" || abort("Error: Vendor partition doesn't exist!"););
assert(oneplus.verify_modem("2018-11-06 18:11:36") == "1" || abort("Error: This package requires firmware version 5.1.7 or newer. Please upgrade firmware and retry!"););
I've spent the last 4 hours looking for fixes, but they usually tell me to do the following, none of which has worked:
- Update TWRP (I have the latest version)
- Remove "assert" lines from "updater-script" file (Which invalidates the .zip files in non-stock ROMS)
- Use Blu_Spark (Can only find zip downloads, not .img files like everywhere tells me to use; they don't install as recovery menus when fastbooted, it just stays on the OnePlus logo when rebooting into it)
I'm completely stumped and am left with a softbricked OnePlus 5 that's only functionality is booting into fastboot or recovery/TWRP. Can anyone help here?

Error 7 identifies a corrupt os file. Download 5.1.4 and 5.1.7 again without any download manager and remove compatibilit.zip with 7zip on PC.
Use this recovery by flashing it with your current one https://forum.xda-developers.com/on...rdstuck-bootloop-please-t3896101/post78818108

I've looked into the files in the 5.1.4 update for the OP5 including the "system.new.dat" file but can't find any "compatibilit.zip" in it. It also won't install as it is.
I flashed the recovery "boot.img" file using fastboot but all I get is a static light blue LED and a black screen. Using "adb devices" doesn't show anything connected.

Ah, my bad, too fast. The removal of the compatibility.zip is only necessary on Pie builds!
Which boot.img did you flashed? The linked one codeworkx twrp?you wrote you're able to boot your current twrp so you can flash the other twrp with it.
I flashed this one you linked in your comment -- is this the right one?

I can't get into fastboot to install the recovery software now because I installed that kernel as the recovery...what now?
EDIT: Managed to install TWRP but it flashed the TWRP logo then went back to the OnePlus logo screen.
EDIT #2: In TWRP and installing 5.1.4 is working!
EDIT #3: Phone is booting, will give it some time and update later.
SUCCESS! In summary, here's what I did:
1) Boot into fastboot (POWER + VOL UP)
2) fastboot flash recovery twrp-3.2.3-0-20181031-codeworkx-cheeseburger.img
3) fastboot boot twrp-3.2.3-0-20181031-codeworkx-cheeseburger.img
4) Wipe system, data & cache using TWRP
5) Install 5.1.4, then Magisk, then format internal storage
6) Boot OS
Thank you so much; you're a lifesaver, strongst!

Sim 2 data is not working. Maybe this problem is related to android version because that the latest version of Pixel Experience and Havoc have this problem too

I've been using havoc 3.6 for a couple of days, yeah sim2 data is not working.
can I ask if you're using v4a with evolution? does the sound balance? because in havoc, right side has a low volume when using headphones while v4a is currently running. thanks
I'm interested to try this rom. However I'm still in 8.1.0 custom rom. What is the complete step to flash this? Do I need to flash back stock MIUI android 10 rom first? Or can I just do clean wipe and install this rom?
Can I also use latest twrp or do I have to use orangefox? I prefer twrp
And what is DFE.zip?

If you were using miui 11.0.2 or 11.0.3 then you can install any android 10 base rom.
You can install the rom using TWRP recovery but Orange fox recovery is recommended and the best option.
DFE stands for Disable Force Encryption.:good:
Installation method:
1: install a custom recovery (1st install Twrp and from twrp install orange fox recovery by placing orange fox installation image file in phone's srorage).
2: Make backup of your current rom.
3: wipe Delvic/cache,system,data and vendor.
Do Not Wipe Internal Storage.
4: install the required rom.
5: reboot your device to recovery again.
6: install desired Gapps. (If Gapps are not included in rom)
7:install magisk (if root is required)
8:reboot
All is done.
If a rom gives a bootloop just go to recovery and this time install the same rom again without wiping anything.

If a rom gives a bootloop just go to recovery and this time install the same rom again without wiping anything.

I'm not in MIUI rom. I have never use it. I'm in LR 8.1.0. Can I install this directly? If not then do I need to flash MIUI Pie then MIUI 10? Can I flash eu rom from LR 8.1.0 then from then upgarde to 10 to evolution x?
If I'm gonna need to flash back to stock MIUI then do I lose my unlock bootloader? It's been two years since I last modified my device. I don't remember anything anymore

Well you must be on latest firmware i.e miui 11.0.2 or 11.0.3 (china) with android version 8.1.0.
If you still dont know about it you can simply download the latest firmware from Here
And please note that this thread is only for Redmi 5 plus (vince) smartphone.

No luck. Been doing this "back to stock" thing for hours already. Eneded up with no OS installed. I can't even flash back to my original LR 8.1.0. It throws error 7 in latest twrp. Twrp restore worked though
Care to elaborate how to flash from custom rom oreo to MIUI 11.0.2? I read about persist, vendor, etc which iirc is not present in oreo.

Miui 11.0.2 is android oreo based rom. You are mixing firmware with android version. Just forget the android version just consider the miui version which for your device should be miui 11.0.2. For any rom installation
Install Orange fox recovery and then try again.
You can try it by dirty flashing , check if it works?
Just restore you current rom and install the required rom without wiping anything and when installing process is finished ,wipe cache and reboot to system.

Ok so now I'm aware for vince we only have oreo official stock. I am coming from aosp oreo custom rom. I wanted to upgrade to Q custom rom. However, I also know I needed to be in latest MIUI stock to do that. The problem is I wasn't able to go back to stock successfully. Even the firmware I was in two years ago when I bought this, I can't flash it successfully I have tried Nougat and several oreo zips failed to flash in twrp. I think something in TWRP (I'm using 3.4.0) breaks or the way google does things. it keeps throwing error 7(had several devices all threw this error on oreo version and up). Ever since I bought this device I was always in Oreo. Now that I can't flash anything except my twrp backup, I went back again. I'll take the risk again once I find proper instruction for my situation. As this is my main phone I can't make mistake and waste anymore time. I actually already experimented this for like more than ten times. When it booted on my backup I still can't flash stock rom which supposed to be in lower version than I am so it should be no problem. I just gave up
Or perhaps is this rom treble?

Yep. Xda dev extract the firmware package from fastboot rom. So u don't need to install full rom. Just flash it after wiping.
Yep, your bootloader will stay unlocked.

You downloaded the full rom.
Firmware is only about 52mb. Flashing a rom through TWRP has no effect on bootloader.
I have already advised you to use orange fox recovery if it still gives error 7 then you should watch This
really wanted to try this rom, but for some reason it still give me the error 7, already installed the latest firmware and did what the video describes to do but stills error 7.
I installed the Global Firmware. Do i need to install de china version?
