Unlocking locked bootloader - Xperia Z General

Hello!
This is my first post here in Z section. I got my phone few weeks ago and was just testing until now.
For those of us with unlockable bootloader - there is a way to remove restriction, but all data will be lost.
I got my Z locked to T-mobile with status "unlock: no".
Since device is out of warranty and contract, I contacted my network provider and got permission to unlock bootloader.
They sent it to Sony service and phone came back unchanged. It is their stance that any rooting or hacking is against T-mobile rules.
When I showed them permission from T to have bootloader unlocked, they directed me to Sony Croatia.
Of course, Sony told me that permission is OK, but they don't do any hacking/rooting.
And the circle was closed ...
Anyway, I contacted unofficial Sony service center, sent them my phone and it came back with "Allowed: Yes" status
So, it is possible to unlock loocked bootloader, but:
1) you lose all data
2) it costs - 25 euros.

[UPDATED] Verizon Tech Support says no unlocked bootloaders!

I know this is not a verizon forum but wow!

EDIT:UPDATE: A new quote from their Twitter. "I have confirmed we allow phones w/ unlocked bootloaders to be activated on our network. Sorry for the misinformation."

I saw this and at first I was gonna laugh, but when I thought about it, the guy has no clue. There are already phones with unlocked bootloaders on verizon. So I think maybe they mean no phones will be sold unlocked, but what you do to them after that is your business.
They guy that posted that tweet probably doesn't even know what a bootloader is.
big V just butthurt that they wont have as much power over htc phones
^ all of you are probably correct.
Both the Charge & Revolution are unlockable (unencrypted).

in fairness I did its in general meaning its doesn't necessarily have to do with anything EVO
I guess every sub gets one of these threads.
Evo 3D links back to XDA http://www.androidpolice.com/2011/0...ve-an-unlocked-bootloader-one-way-or-another/
From @VZWSupport:
Correction>> You CAN activate your HTC device with an unlocked bootloader on our network, we apologize for the confusion.
@grfullerton You are correct. If the bootloaders are unlocked, it does not prevent them from being activated on the Verizon network.*MS

Bootloader locked?

So, I was reading up a forum bout how Motorola's bootloader is locked, and the thought came across my mind..... Sony's bootloader can be unlocked, why cant the Motorola phones be unlocked too?
I know someone who has a Sony Neo with unlocked bootloader who flashes different kernels to get wicked overclock speeds

Is anyone working on this yet?
You should ask MOTO why don't they unlock our bootloader.
> why cant the Motorola phones be unlocked too?
Because of *****n Moto. I'm just mad that bootloader is still locked, even after Moto "joined" Google. Google promised, that they will provide optional unlock for all their phones...

you must be new to moto realm
This is the main reason i got a SII to be my primary phone, custom kernels are amazing.
But i still keep my milestone 2, its still a good phone.

no unlock no recovery after serviced the phone

i just received mi atrix from moto and they have loaded with new frimware.
there is no recovery anymore and impossible to unlock
is there any solution?
thank you
As far as i know you still have stock recovery. The new bootloader is not able to unlock at the moment so you can not put a custom recovery on it. I got a new atrix as a replacement recently and have the same problem. Good luck
why is it impossible to unlock the new bootloader?
is someone working on it or will we never get an unlocked bootloader?
Sent from my MB860 using xda app-developers app

Yea the same happened to me a few months back when I sent my phone to moto for replacement. I was really hoping for ics to fix that because we would all be on the same software and therefore have more developer support. But now that moto kill the update, im not sure we will be able to unlock our bootloader and run custom software.

Using this phone on AT&T without Data Plan

So as far as I'm aware:
If you have an AT&T branded smartphone, or any other that's in their system, and you insert a SIM that doesn't have a data plan, ATT will just add one for you.
(Because it's in their ToS that you need to have one blah blah blah.)
But if it's a non-ATT phone, it's hit or miss on whether they can detect your phone or not, and the risk is that they eventually might.
Now, has anyone that has unlocked their S4 through the methods posted here use their phone on AT&T without a data plan and tell me if they didn't eventually get detected?
I checked my IMEI with AT&T in two ways:
AT&T Unlock Page
As you would guess, it said go to your own carrier to unlock it,

AT&T BYOD Page
Putting my IMEI in just throws an error and asks to type it in again
I have a friend that uses a flip phone and I told her she could use my S4 since it's just sitting around being used as a TV remote, but she doesn't want to pay for data and I don't want to confuse her by telling her to switch to GoPhone, since her phone is on her parents account and stuff.

Is it normal for the camera mask to cut off the screen slightly?

I recently obtained a "New-in-box" V20 and quickly got to work with unlocking the bootloader and loading Alpha Omega Rom. As I've been working with it, I noticed a couple of curiosities that make me question its newness, however, and I wanted to run this by the community to see if anybody had any insight. First and foremost, is this level of cutoff under the camera corner normal for LGs?

Secondly, the "hardware info" menu shows over 46 hours of "lifetime calls." Is that counter at all accurate, even after using LGUp to install an exploitable stock rom, Dirty Santa to set up TWRP, and then use TWRP to install the latest available Alpha Omega?
Another odd thing I spotted was that, despite the fact that it is the Verizon VS995 variant, the back cover has the B&O branding instead of the Verizon tramp stamp. Did some of the VS995s ship with this more stealthy design?
Basically, I'm trying to feel out if I have any leverage by which to request an exchange or partial refund for my "brand new" item. I'm still pretty happy with it despite the weird lineup issue, but it's one of those things that you can't exactly un-see .
