[BOOTANIMATION] LG G Watch Bootanimation for Nexus 5 - Nexus 5 Themes and Apps

This is the leaked bootanimation from LG's G Watch, ripped from the youtube video the leaked system dump and ported over to the Nexus 5. Attached are two files. bootanimation.zip is just the bootanimation, if you want to push it to /system/media yourself. The other file is flashable in recovery. Please note this flashable zip overwrites the bootanimation.zip located in /system/media. Make a backup first if you wish.

Thank you, looks great, use it on my second ROM 4.4.3 stock now.
Edit: looks like doesn't work correct with 4.4.3 , shows only android font. Test it now with Slim

Well I ripped it from the YouTube video of the leak, so that's as high res as it's gonna get until the G watch actually comes out and someone can rip the official boot animation from it.
As soon as that happens, feel free to let me know, and I'd be happy to make a higher res version.

even then, the resolution of that watch isn't going to be anywhere NEAR as high as our 1080P displays....so its still going to be fuzzy.
someone with time and knowledge should just redo the animation in full 1080P. that person is not me....any takers ;P
very cool animation though.

higher res version is up right now. just updated the op with new download links.

dankoman said:
no, that's not entirely true. in many boot animations, smaller images than what you see are actually used for the frames. the resolution to be displayed resides in desc.txt within the boot animation, and the frames are scaled there. with the official boot animation, as long as the frames have a reasonable density and color depth, the distortion shouldn't be too noticeable when scaled from its native 280x280 (g watch's resolution) to 1080x1080.
the reason it looks like crap here is because i had to rip it from youtube. youtube video files use image compression similar to what you'd see in a JPG. bootanimations don't use jpgs, they use pngs, which use much better compression algorithms. the distortion takes place when the original bootanimation is converted into a video file (which most likely then undergoes even further compression by youtube).
for proof of this concept, just look at the youtube video i ripped it from: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yks-GuClSJ8. this was the highest quality i was able to find. look at it up close - it's distorted pretty badly even in the video.
like i said, when the official boot animation becomes available, i'll definitely port it over so we can have a better quality boot animation

What size are the images from the system dump? wondering if I somehow got the old one.
I just downloaded the bootanimation.zip from the OP, and the images are still 280x280 which, as I said earlier, results in a fuzzy image. It looks better than I imagined it would, but still not nearly has nice as some of the other native 1080P animations I have on my phone.

I use AE(After Effect) to create custom bootanimation.zip by tutorial of VideoCoPilot.
Here is my work. I don't know why the gif looks quite slow. Also, all the bootanimation.zip have already tested.
The bootanimation.zip has been already packed. You just need to place it in the right place. See here for info.

Good work! Thank you.
The more content like this people produce the better for everyone.
for anyone that is interested I've found that with no art skill you can still make these if you rip videos from you tube into image frames and follow stunt doubles instructions to make the animation.zip. I know it's cheating but it's simple and easy and let's even a goof like me make his own animation.
These look super nice, but unfortunately I find them too laggy to use. It takes ages to render the animation the first time around.
So I'm going back to Honeybee for now, being under 1MB it's pretty smooth.

I admit that the first of render the boot animation is pretty laggy. However, it would not appear after the first time.
I made the boot animation is about 640*400. I have already lowered the resolution and I just want to keep the basic view.

Just cuz the n5 is newer doesn't make it better. I just traded s4 for n5 and when I was running aosp 4.4 on my s4 the devices are very very similar. N5 slightly snappier and s4 has a better camera and more storage capacity. They are different devices but one isn't necessarily better than the other

I was half kidding when I said that (hence the wink emoji).
I had a S4 before and did a side by side comparison of the display (the part that matters the most to me).
I couldn't stand the over saturated colors on the Amoled screen.
I love the IPS display of my N4 and my N5. So "I like the N5 better than the S4". To each his own

[Bootanimation] Custom Carbon ROM Thundercats style bootanimation

Hello XDA community (hoping that I am posting in the right area. if not, please let me know),
I've been messing around with creating my own bootanimations in my spare time, purely for fun. I'm currently running the latest Carbon ROM nightlies on my Nexus 5, so I figured I'd make some based on Carbon's logo. The first one I'd like to share with anyone who's interested, is Thundercats-style [cel animated].
It starts off with a few frames using the Google logo so that it would seem like a seamless transition from the splash screen (I only guesstimated the placement and size of the logo + unlocked icon). It's pink/fuchsia on black just because I like to use that color combo in alot of my custom theming, so if that's not really your flavor, I could possibly take requests for a color variation.
This one is fairly simple, but I intend to work on a much more involved one with a custom typeface/logotype which would resemble the original 80s cartoon more.

[BOOTANIMATION] Android L 60FPS 1080p

After lots of hours (I accept donations) I did all the frames lost of the android L bootanimation, so now it goes at 60fps (it used to go at 30fps). The change is huge.
You have to install the zip with a free app like Boot Animations in the Play Store. Don't use recovery!

Updated OP with images for compare (the difference in the device is even clearer). I did another version with less filesize (without losing quality) because I got lags in my nexus 4. If someone is interested in this version let me know here.
I can also make a bigger one in terms of pixels if it happens to be too small in your bigger-than-nexus-4 screens

WOW, renamed it from bootanimation60 to bootanimation, rebooted it twice to watch it, i liked how smooth it is when making the word android.
This animation should be the standard and the file isnt big either.
Very very good work!!
Thanks all for the feedback, I've uploaded a new version much liter (without losing quality). More details in the OP.
I need someone tell me if the 60fps version is smaller in your screen than the original one in the L preview.
Apart from that, all I uploaded are 720p instead of 1080p. If I receive enough donations I will make the 60fps for the 1080p version.
This is awesome. :good:

Yea it is smaller. I'm not sure what I should resize it to to fit.

You can make it bigger changing the resolution in the txt file inside the zip. I will do this and upload again but it will lose sharpness cause it is 720p not real 1080p. As I said I'm thinking in doing a real 1080p one.

It has an explanation: I did this animation for me and my nexus 4, and then I thinked why not to share (and If a get a few beers better ). That is very different from working for free for a 1080p version that I will not use, I'm a good guy but not a stupid one
Updated OP with new version v2big. This new version has the correct size but expect some loose of shapness. More info in the op.
Please confirm that it works as expected.

First of all I appreciate your work.
But you can sweeten the pill as you want, these would be payments, not donations. Donations = you create something and I want to reward you for your efforts; payments = I give you something (money in this case) to receive something else from you.
And payments are not well-seen (or accepted) here.
This is for all: Because I think I've been bad interpreted I want to clarify that I only want donations for the work already done and your donation does not imply you will receive a 1080p version. I would do the 1080p one to thank the support if it is big enough but not like a job.
Apart from that, I'm waiting feedback from the new version
Wtf?
Why are you even posting this on the N5 forum?

First because I though some people may be interested and they have been (the downloads talk by themselves)
You can also pay attention to the good comments received.
If you don't like it just don't download, but as you can see lot of people does.
I recommend you the v2 version if you don't want to lose definition and the v2big if you want the correct size.
Looks good, nice and smooth. Thanks for the work

[MOD][ZIP] New Moto X Camera+/Gallery

I seen the old Moto camera posted before but not the new one. This is the stock Motorola Camera+ from the MotoX with Gallery. This is based of 5.X.X so it should work across most lollipop builds. I have tested this on stock and AOSP ROM's.

If you want the additional options (settings) to work you must change you're build.prop on the line that says "release-keys" to "tests keys". I will upload the build.prop also, I stripped out the OEM specific junk also. The exact line in the build prop to change is :
ro.build.tags=release-keys (original)
to
ro.build.tags=test-keys (changed)
Of course all the same rules apply. Myself or XDA are NOT responsible for the lack of common sense or stupidity, resulting in bootloops or non functional devices.
**The settings I'm referring to is the little (bug) icon when you slide out the settings wheel from the right.**

**The build.prop is for the STOCK NEXUS 6 5.1 BUILD ONLY! If you are using a different build other then that adjust the build prop manually.

I don't ask for donations. The best way to show support is smashing the like button.

Personally, I think it takes better quality photos. Especially over the stock Google camera. The video recording is great.

Just about anything is better than the Google cam. How do you think this one compares to the m9 cam?

I actually have the new HTC camera on my N6 right now and I still think this camera gives better images. I went to a instant print machine the other day. I was really impressed of the quality of the pictures when printed.
Both the HTC and the Motorola are missing HDR options. The Motorola Camera has less functionality than the HTC camera, specifically I need to be able to set focus while 4K video recording.
The burst mode is very good on this one. Overall I think ALL camera apps are missing one thing or another, which I think is very frustrating.
LCamera is outdated, has no HDR and latest dev build has issues.
F5-V is slow & buggy atm and I don't like the UI, 4K video is broken, no HDR.
Manual Camera has great UI & Control but no video recording & HDR ?!!!!
Motorola has ****ty UI, but feels polished. Burst mode works great, but no HDR. No focus control while recording video.
HTC Camera has a ****ty UI and no HDR. (But is the best one overall with focus control during 4K Video recording)
Google Camera is a joke but is the only one with working HDR.
Pick your poison.
I would love a fully functioning ColorOS camera port.
Any advice ?
Um, I can look into porting it over. It might just work if you strip the apk out of the ROM.

That would be great but there already has been a port made for the oneplus one CM12 and Ive tried using that one but it just crashes on opening the app. (running CM12 myself here too)

Maybe you can contact the guy/girl behind that port and work something out.
I've gotten to the point where I would pay for a decent camera app for the nexus 6.
I just downloaded it. If I have time I will work on it tonight. If not ,after memorial day I will get it done. I will also put it on my github so others can use it.
Just a quick update for anyone following this thread. I gathered up some source stuff and will be starting to dive into the ColorOS camera port along side a few others.
If you have any other camera that's not functional on the N6 post it in this thread and I will look into it.
I don't think HDR+ is even possible unless your on Google camera. It's closed source

Mostly closed. HDR+ is not impossible I think it can be done. Just need the right base and proper kernel. That's in future plans of mine.

Can you put in the 1st post what Version number is in your zip file? For both the Moto Camera and Moto Gallery?
Does flashing zip replaces stock google camera & Gallery

Lol I got sidetracked with developer preview. However, I do have the ColorOS camera running on the N6, but it won't take a picture when you press the button or force closes. I pinned it down to some kernel tweaks that need to be made. So no ETA's but I'm getting there.
