PA rom question? themes / halo... - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Sorry in advance I am sure this is a stupid question. But I am running the latest version of the PA rom, and everything I am seeing shows i should have a halo feature, and a themes center within settings to install custom PA themes. Neither of which I have? Am I missing something, or were those 2 features recently removed?

I may have just answered my own question through some additional research. LOoks like there are no PA custimization features while its still in beta. Is it still beta because it was recently updated for 4.4.2? Because this ROM has been available for quite some time now? thanks

[Q] Why few ROMs ?

Hello guys!
Just a quick question, why can we saw a few number of ROM?
I mean, de don't see a lot of CM Based ROM or AOSPA Legacy ROM. Have you got an idea ? Maybe it's an hardware issue?
Thanks a lot!

Cyanogenmod is working on a rom for the G900F and maybe other Qualcomm based variants, only the camera and nfc needs some work afaik. If those issues are resoved we will have CM/AOSP roms soon. The Exynos variant will probably not be supported though. Look here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2755697 for more info.

There are actually a large number of custom ROMs available for a new device that has only been available for a few months. Why you would expect more is a mystery. There is official CM and ASOP ROMs, as well as myriad non ASOP ROMs. And no doubt the number of ROMs will increase over time.
It's not clear if you just haven't searched to see what is available or if you perhaps have unrealistic expectations.
.
Why I expect more? It's just that when I have a new phone - for personnal or profesionnal use - I like to see every ROMs which are created or ported. Even if I install only one or two of them, I like to see every works.
After my XPERIA Z1 and my Galaxy S4, I saw an incredible number of ROMs. Slim, Carbon, Cyanogen, Paranoid, and other...
It was just a question to know "why" there is only few ROM, nothing more.
Personaly, I would like to keep my Stock I guess, but I like to test CM, AOSPA and sometimes Slim.
:highfive:
Thanks for your answer.

Suggest me a Clean ROM

Hello guys,
I'm acutally running the X-Note build 20 stuck on Android 4.4.2
I have some problems to recognize a good rom for me so I'm here asking for suggestions. I don't need anything customized. If you could indicate a CLEAN stock rom that could let me be updated with the lastest android versions, I would be really thankful.
Thanks in advance
One of the best you can find is: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2649176
I am looking for a stable nexus like ROM for note 3, I am thinking of getting the next nexus device and want to try and sample the experience for the next few months. Any suggestions as to which ROM will suit me best. I am looking for something stable and reliable?
There is far too many options available now.
Should I go for something like omega ROM? I don't normally flash ROMs but I am sure I will figure it all out.
AOSP Roms
Your should forget Samsung TW crapware and flash an AOSP Rom.
Try Slim if you want lean and stable or Euphoria to remain stable and have more customization options.

Happy flashing...
Many thanks for your reply, I think I will give slim a try.

i suggest cm based roms, bigger choice and more community support through shear numbers LOL
perhpas i have t add that i tried almost any rom on 7 devices. nevertheless slim is one of the very best roms around, well maintained. i just need a few more features and xposed is not yet stable enough for me and app settings does not yet work.
Slim used to be my Rom of choice until these last months when we can't have neither visibility nor understanding on what is happening in/to the team.
And I have switched from the Galaxy "S" series to "Note" series, so although I'm very fond of AOSP, it's hard to find an AOSP rom with the native TW features, mainly S-Pen features that I used quite a lot.
I've tried Aryamod and found it nice. My daily driver so far.

I use the multi-window feature a lot so I kept returning to touchwiz roms.
better battery life and better s pen support is also a plus.
currently the best rom in my opinion is aryamod 5.3, but you can wait until 5.4 comes out.
the most important thing is to go to the OTA app that comes with the rom and flash the "no 3minit battery" zip, which will return your battery icon to default instead of the retarded 3minit one.
good luck

[Q] most stable Custom ROM

Hello
I am new to installation of custom ROMS. I own a Galaxy S5 900F version. I want to install a very smooth and stable ROM on my phone. Can anyone guide me of which ROM should i install? and is it safe?
For me SOKP,TeamNoctrunal, or Ownrom
i would suggest you to try them out yourself to find which is most stable for you mate, good luck. (and yes it is safe)
That's an answer that's different for everyone. I swear by CM ROMS, but my best friend says he has nothing but bad luck with them, and we have the same device.
I just wanted to know by people's experiences. because trying different will require a lot of time and data backing up restoring again and again.
Try Them out and find your best Rom.

For me, Official CyanogenMod 12.1 nightlies are great. I haven't tested anythnig else because CM works fine on my device : stable, great battery life, etc...
This is an development thread ask your question in S5 Q&A, help or troubleshooting. This is a thread for devs posting there unified mods and unified roms.
If you want AOSP you should try official CM12.1 from here:
http://download.cyanogenmod.org/?device=klte
If you want a modded stock rom you can try _alexndr rom from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2813628
Or djb77 roms from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3138583
If you want Xposed framework on a modded stock rom you need a deodexed rom like _alexndr rom or choose djb77 rom there you can choose Xposed from the aroma installer.
I was on XtreStoLite rom but it's outdated at the moment so better to use another one. I tried also _alexandr rom and it's also very good one. Now I'm on CM12.1 and I like it very much. So I advice you to try CM12.1 and if you don't like it try djb77. And I prefer Boeffla kernel (the beta version) there is a version for CM12.1 and for TW.
Boeffla kernel for CM:

Boeffla kernel for TW:

1) This is the development section, does it in any way shape or form resemble a Q&A forum? We have a separate Q&A forum for a reason, can you guess what that reason is?
2) Try some and find out. What is "best" or "most stable" type of questions are not allowed on XDA. "best" or "most stable" is subjective, nobody can answer the question except you.

No, it's not included in CM 12.1, I didn't find it.
Alliance rom v9 is very customizable http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2716535
If u want a S6 experience install sixperience v4.1

Personally i dont lic stock android so i dont like CM
CM is gud to have a better understanding about a google update early
But once samsung give their updates touchwiz is more good for me
Well, its not about just being stable, but about having stable features, and cm is not very good in that way, it is stable, but has very little features, so stock samsung rom all the way, especially now, when samsung will be releasing android 5.1.1 update very soon.
Well I think that people mainly say CM "used to be" stable, because they changed their development cycles from fixed (i.e. having RELEASE versions) to rolling (only MONTHLY). Apart from that I think its a matter of taste really.. personally I would consider most Android systems "unstable" cause you'll always get the occasional crash compared to e.g. an ubuntu LTS server.

Stable Rom for 9505

Hi all,
I'm new on the S4.. I currently use the optimized CM version based on 5.1.1 but I'm not happy with it.. Too many bugs.. I just want to ask you which is currently the best stable rom for my device.. Of course I know that Marshmallow isn't stable.. So I'm looking for a good 5.X rom..
Thanks!
[jflte] gpe 5.0
Does it have a good battery drain? I don't find anything about it in the thread ..
I'm using AOSP 6.0.1 from JDCTeam and I'm absolutely happy with it. I never had any problem with it. Before I used various 5.x ROMS and had problems over problems.
Hope I could help you (even if it's not 5.x)
Both CM 12.1 snapshot and current CM13 nightly are quite stable. So if your phone has bugs running these ROMs, chances are you did something wrong or it is hardware problem.
Optimised CM by JDC is a great rom but since there are too many tweaks / mods in this rom, stability is quite subjective. If you want stable rom, go for stock CM.

The link provided by 3mel is correct. That's the ROM I'm currently using.
(I don't have enough posts yet to post links, otherwise I'd have posted it for you).

Substratum theme engine for stock rom 6.0.1. It's possible?

Hello everyone. Has any developer ever attempted to make substratum theme engine for rom stock, specifically for android 6.0.1 or below? Well it only works on custom roms or AOSP. I recently saw on a website (I can not remember which) that from Nougat, the substratum can be used in stock roms. However, I think I will not use it on my S5 (SM-G900MD) because maybe he will not get to the Nougat. So that's all. Thank you.
Sadly devs of the app aren't interested in supporting lower versions of Android, let alone Samsung's versions. They had problems with Samsung's skin even on Nougat/Oreo so you need to install a plugin in order to make it work there. As much as I want my S5 to last forever (as it's a freaking awesome phone heh) its time is coming when most new and cool apps just won't get on it, not even with xda devs, because after Marshmallow android changed quite a few ways in its core. That made Substratum possible on newer versions. And the custom ROMs you refer to are indeed android 7 and up. I'm on a custom 6.0.1 ROM and it doesn't work - I tried.

Hello I managed to make it work on the S5 SM-G901F in 6.0.1 rom stock but very difficult because there are many errors of compilation it is necessary to download substratum on aptoide and to test several engine with theme until that it works sorry I do not remember which one I used because I have since removed.
The theme engines can be on Google play, although read the descriptions to see if rom stock samsung is supported.
