I have had the N7 since release and after my one year was up it started having problems of only being able to use half of the screen. it shows the bottom portion but will not let me use it, I was wandering if there was a way to edit any internal (rooted) settings that would made it where the screen would only use the top half and keep the bottom half black, kinda faking it to think the screen is smaller than it actually is. I have tried re-rooting the tablet to see if it was a software issue but it seams to not be. I can plug a mouse into it and it will let me use the bottom portion so I have deemed it as physical.
I attached a picture, everything bellow the white line is not usable
Forgot to mention, I am only wanting to fix this to play ingress so if there is a way edit it for ingress only that would be amazing too

Digitizer passed away!
yea, only part of it though. I am planning to use it as a "toilet tablet" instead of trying to use it for ingress

What setting do you use? Why?
I have a skin condition on the complete undersides of my hands (I believe it's called dermatitis or eczema) that causes them to be abnormally dry and peel thick layers off, almost 100% of the time.
Capacitive touch screens usually aren't sensitive enough for the weak current that passes through the tips of my fingers, but this setting, even with a screen protector, will detect one of my digits even if I hold it mere nanometers above the screen.
I also hated the jumpyness of swiping between homescreens due to 10 pixel movement detection. Bleh.
P.S. Did anybody else's Tapatalk favorites break recently? Mine just did.
Error message "forum closed" appeared.
"This was brand new at Christmas - my children somehow broke it only a few short months later so now the screen displays a mix of colored lines as seen in the photos. The screen is good - no scratches. It charges and powers on. Has enough of a display that I was able to go into the settings and remove everything, and set it back to factory defaults." - I might purchase this if anyone knows how to fix it.

not worth the hassle, a brand new one only cost you $199 and you have to replace the screen on this one and no warrenty if anything else goes wrong, that'll cost you a bit so i suggest you just hold off
Help: yesterday half of the screen of my Nexus7 gets blurred from the center to one side as shown in the photos. What's the cause and is there any solutions for me?
By the way, yesterday my Nexus 7 has been upgraded to 4.4.4, and after the upgrade, I dropped it to the ground by accident.
I reconnected the FPC connector of the LCD screen both on Nexus 7 mainboard and Screen side, and nothing helps.
I also re-flashed back to the old version of ROMs, and still the same issues.

One surprising finding: if I observe the blurred screen part carefully, I even can see some an offset light background of the home page in corresponding area disregarded any pages you are seeing.
Hello and thanks in advance for any help.
I am happily running PH-1 with stock system, no mods of any kind as my daily, and now on my 3rd replacement screen.
This time around, one of the surface mount components came off (glue job gone bad, long story) and I want to replace it, myself, which I am able to do though I need to I.D. the component.
Attached pic of my connector, and showing which component that I'm needing to ID.
My screen works though I've no touch-response and I'm thinking it must have somethin to do with the missing part of the circuit.
Yes I've looked at the possibility of resetting and forcing a recalibrate etc... I didn't have to reset with my previous 2 replacements. So first I'd like to take care of this item just to put it aside, hoping that it's the problem.
Again thanks for any help, I've searched for quite some time and have not found schematics nor a hi-def enough image of that area.
