Hello. I received the phone today. I had a rooted desire HD before this.
My windows 7 is newly installed so I had to install 32bit/64bit java SDK, and android SDK. I downloaded the usb drivers, the platform tool package and so on.
The problem is that, although the USB debugging is turned on on the G.Note, windows won't recognize it as a ADB Android Phone. Under 'devices' I can see:
- CDC Serial
- SAMSUNG_Android
Both with a "!" : needing drivers.
ADB is correctly installed, and if I type 'adb devices' in the prompt, no serial number of any device is displayed. If I try to start the root procedure (through the .bat file), WAITING FOR DEVICE : it just doesn't find the phone and nothing starts.
I tried searching manually for the driver: device - properties - SAMSUNG_Android - find driver manually - extra\google\usb-driver ...... but it doesn't install it !
I didn't have these problems with the desire HD....as long as the phone is not recognized as a Android Phone (without "!")....I can't start the root procedure !!
What am I doing wrong ??
Oh and also:
- tried changing USB port
- rebooted both systems
- uninstalled the 'SAMSUNG_android' device, then plugged it in again....same thing, not recognized as Android Phone
have you tried to install Kies?
i think i am stupid...that's the equivalent of htc sync right? i'll try again and hope that it will make the difference.
yeah, it should install the
right drivers. after that, be sure kies is closed properly in order to use odin.

remove all the drivers and try with usb debugging,

on my transformer when i had the same issue i removed all the drivers and on reinstall the drivers installed fine
I have done so and i do have usb debugging and still same issue. Dont know what else to do. By the way i am running Vista

Do you have multiple android devices installed? I have had the same issue when I tried to install drivers for my p6800. Deinstalled htc software AND drivers, then tried again, worked perfectly.
No, no other drivers. I recently reformated my laptop and still a no go. Whatever items do install it allows me to access both external and internal drives, but those 2 items dont and just get "drivers not installed"

Hi, I was so happy that after suffering from trying to root my Nexus 7 with wugfresh toolkit, finally got the job done (driver installation problem then mtp change to camera). Now after another several hours of trying, re-installing drivers and everything else I've read around nothing seem to make windows xp detect my nexus 7 as mtp for file transfer. I must add that before I started the whole rooting process, it was working fine, I mean the whole file transfer thing. Am I still missing something?
I just want to be clear though that I do not blame wugfresh toolkit and thankful in fact for that.
Turn USB debugging off , then see if it detects it

I have tried that on multiple cases. My PC would sound meaning there was something plugged in/out in the usb but still nothing appears in windows explorer..
I've got windows xp as well ... Does the sound have 2 dings or 3 when connected?
Also try rebooting both computer and tablet
Edit: go to developer options, under USB debugging there is ' revoke USB debugging authorisation' .. Click that while connected
Hope that helps

Just the two beeps that means something was plugged in...Also tried the revoke option, still nothing. I see that my pc acknowledges the Nexus & but not as mtp because the option to safely remove my device is present but no drive letter was assigned to it and I couldn't see the device in windows explorer. What else could I try?:crying:
All I can think of now is to reinstall the drivers
Sent from my Nexus S using xda app-developers app
Done that too. I'm thinking about re-using samsung drivers instead as it worked fine before I went through the rooting process. I'll try it out later today and post results.

Finally got it...I would like to give credits and thanks to the members in this link (threadstarter and all those who contributed in it):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1934306
So to sum it all up, I had to manually reinstall/update the driver -> selected "Install from a list or specific location (Advanced)" -> clicked "Don't search, I will choose the driver to install." ->then seleted "MTP Device"
Note: at first it had problems but as stated in the link, I downloaded Microsoft MTP Port Kit (mtppk12.exe), installed it and voila!
So happy right now...thanks for the help! :victory:
I am generally good at rooting any android phone. I am having a hard time locating the drivers for the VZW LG G2. I have the zip file from the post on how to root the phone, but I am not sure which file to install.
Any input would be appreciated.
If they aren't auto detected and installed after a reboot with phone plugged in, goto device manager, locate the phone and manually update driver pointing it to the LG folder full of drivers. To get the adb interface working, you may need to be in the internet connection mode with the ethernet option selected. Can't remember if that was the case or not.

I needed to install LG VZW_United_WHQL_v2.11.1 then go to LG website and download drivers from the G2 support page. I couldn't upload the exe file. Restart computer and all went well. I had same issue and struggled to solve.
So I figured out how to install the drivers but when I go to command prompt and type"adb devices" it does not recognize it as a command.

You must have the sdk with adb installed before you do that part. Browse to that directory, find adb, shift right click, open command prompt here. Then do 'adb devices'. You'll see serial # on left and 'device' on right. It's working then. If you get 'offline' on right, you need to update your adb.
i'm having the same issue. i'm trying to root, and it won't list it at all, and i'm not getting the debugging icon on top. no serial number popping up on the abd devices and i just tried with both 3.8 and 3.10 drivers. anything?
If I remember correctly I had to go to settings>pc connection>select USB connection method and then choose Internet connection, then choose modem in order to get the debugging icon to appear.

I'm having trouble with my PC not recognizing my phone at all. It says USB device not recognized. I'm on Windows 7 64bit if that matters.

Most likely it's because you don't have the right drivers installed. Try installing these http://g2-lg.com/download-lg-g2-android-usb-drivers-ver-3-10/.

The drivers aren't working for me so i will link where you can get the drivers from the actual website. Please note: this link is for Tmobile D801 but you can search for your device on there.
http://www.lg.com/us/support-mobile/lg-D801
LG's website has drivers for D800 and D801. I'm looking for D802 drivers. Where can I find them or which are compatible?

Where can I find Universal drivers? Not on LGs website.
I installed this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1379875
And after that it worked fine. I have a ls980, so the att and t-mobile don't work for me. This did.
This took me a while to sort out. There is a certain driver package for the verizon phone. The drivers listed here dont seem to work for me. I'm using win 7. Here is what I needed to use, then everything just came together - LG VZW_United_WHQL_v2.11.1
These can be downloaded at LG's site. Make sure you search for drivers pertaining to the model number of your phone.
Hope this helps someone

LG Drivers failing to install
I Install LGUnitedMobileDriver_S50MAN310AP22_ML_WHQL_Ver_3.10.1.exe from LG website, it installs and I get a "successful" message from the software package. However, shortly after windows pops up a bubble with "not successful". Details:
Uninedntified Device - No Driver Found
Creative Game Port - Failed
Plug in phone and select “PC Software”, since none of the other options make any sense (USB charge, Media Transfer, Tethering, and Picture Transfer). Sidebar: None of the other options seem to change anything even when tried. "Media Transfer" is the only one that seems to actually install something successfully, but nothing changes with the device list. Back on track: Get a new windows “installing” bubble. Shortly after I get another “not successful” message with the following:
MTP USB Device – Failed
I go to Devices and Printers, select the phone, and look in the properties. Click “update driver” and pick the LG folder in Program Files. It says “driver already installed”.
Rebooting the computer accomplishes nothing.
I’ve tried several full uninstalls.
No matter what I try, if I run “adb devices”, I get “List of Devices Attached” then my prompt back, meaning none found I assume.
Yes I have turned on dev mode on the phone and I get the debugging icon when the USB cable is plugged in. I’m on Win7 64. WTF is wrong with this driver?
Thanks for any help you can give!
Uncheck usb debug? Had this on my htc one x. Maybe helps

Everytime I connect via usb, it tries to install drivers but fails. I am unable to transfer files like music, pics and was wondering if anyone had suggestions.
Have you tried downloading and installing LG's PCSuite?
Try to change different connection mode on the phone, like storage mode to copies files or PC Suite to sync files like iTunes.

it might be the usb cord that is defective..
I've tried different cords and also different connect methods. I dont have the suit though, I'll download that and see how that goes. Its weird though because it was working prior to the kit kat update and tbh Im beginning to think its my computer that is having the issues and not my phone. But dont really know what to do about it.
You can also download the drivers from LG website on your phone models page.
Uninstall previous, install the new ones. Reboot computer.
Plug in phone and ignore the promotion phone to install. Choose appropriate mode for connecting and victory.
If not check in explorer on computer if phone is listed
That should do it
if you are talking about that little error in the bottom right of your computer screen that says something like usb failed to recognize with a yellow triangle, try rebooting that usually works for me if not
uninstall the lg driver
reboot then reinstall the lg driver and you should be good to go..
Hmm...idk but I think something wasn't right with my root. I checked on rootchecker and it was verified then I checked again it night and it wouldn't detect it. So I rerooted my phone and the connection seems to be working now. I hope this also takes care of all the other issues I've been having
