Hello my friends,
for some couple of weeks I've noticed some nasty screen bleed as seen in attached pics, bleed enhanced mostly when WiFi is used, and decreased but still there when WiFi is off...
D802 SEA model + 4.4.2 STOCK.
Any ideas? Should this be because a defect screen batch or something else?
Thanks in advance.
That isn't what screen bleed is.
However, you have a display hardware issue and need to return the phone under warranty.

Well, yeah, isn't the exact definition :-| but the results are kind of the same...
it's a screen bleed like or screen burn, but ... it's possible to be because of WiFi overheating?
I'll return it to my seller hopefully for a hardware replacement.. I'll let you know.
Anyone else experiencing the same behaviour?
Tks.
No. This is a hardware issue, and you should get a new one. Especially of you haven't rooted it or flashed any roms yet!

I live in Bangalore. I got a new Nexus 7 from US.
The double tape seals were broken when i received it, Grabmore (the store) support lady told me it was due to a customs check
Although i doubt it, i retained the device.
I have noticed a couple of problems now,
Screen flickers, especially when i have white background. Any solution to fix this ?
Wifi keeps disconnection and reconnecting.
Any help is truly appreciated.
Return it for an exchange. That is a defective Nexus 7. I don't think the seals matter, but I think where you got it from gave you a bad Nexus 7. I don't think it could be their fault because Google has all of those defective Nexus 7's all the time. But I would contact them for a exchange.

Try turning off auto brightness and see if that stops the flickering.
As for WiFi, I'm not sure what will fix that. Maybe try flashing a custom ROM or kernel.

Was afraid of that, now i have to jump through some of their hoops to get a exchange.
Although if it helps anyone else out there,
my flicker issue goes away if you manually set the brightness to more than 35% (approx).
Also drop in wifi happens if i cover the top left part of the device with my hand.
Am quite shocked at the number of problems being reported by people !

Thats a known issue with the Nexus 7. With the screen brightness set low the screen will flicker when the wi-fi is active.

That shouldn't be surprising since you are covering the antenna with your hand.
Neither of these issues would be fixed by exchanging it.

Hmmm, I will try flashing franco's kernel and see if it solves the flicker issue.
As far as me covering the antenna area, ideally it should not affect to such an extent i lose the entire connection, guess i will have to just not do it.
Thanks everyone for pitching in.

Turning off the auto brightness has no effect, the flicker issue is tied to the % of brightness more than approx 35 % it works fine.
for the past week my screen has been going whacked out on me.
the on-screen buttons would start clicking on their own, and sometimes the screen becomes unresponsive,
BUT
when i turn it off, and back on, it would work perfectly fine .
so i basically get a 50/50 chance if the screen going crazy on me...
now if it was the Digitizer, wouldnt the problem be ALL THE TIME?
as opposed to being random, could it be a BUG ?
Can anyone please help or advice, thanks !
If a factory reset doesn't fix it it is probably hardware. I have seen intermittent problems with digitizers before.

so theres no insurance from anywhere...wonder who would do any work on it for me ...Google or LG ? i know it wont be T-Mo
Have you called them? I don't understand why they would not honor the warranty.

Read the book that came in the box. Manufacturers defects pretty much always have a 1 year warranty.
Oh and LG.
Sent from my Nexus 4, running Carbon Nightly + Matr1x Kernel v10
well they are talking about having to send my device in, then run tests and see what the problem is followed by whatever charges ..
so i dont know if its worth paying for it..should i go back to my GNOTE and wait for the next Nexus . idk .

I have a similar-sounding issue (on-screen buttons flashing wildly, et al.); I am thinking of opening the device to check on connection
Is it more or less likely, in your experience, that the connection between the display assembly and the board is loose from impact or whatever, or that the digitizer itself is just defective?
Thanks for your help.
I had the exact same problem on my device and it can be due to two reasons.
1. If your phone get extremely hot during use then the screen starts behaving abnormally.
2. If you had dropped your phone then there is a slight chance that you have damaged the digitizer.
I had the second problem and I have replaced the screen and it is working normally again.
I'm having a very frustrating problem with my Nexus 7 (2013). About a week ago I started to notice the screen flickering and or flashing. I uploaded a video to show exactly what it's doing. I have tried to research and the only workarounds I found were to disable auto brightness and wi-fi optimization but both have been ineffective in solving the problem. The Nexus is currently running this kernel (razor-jss15q-factory) and was purchased around release day.

I have a flickering problem but it looks different than yours. Also my screen occasionally flashes black. I've also tried all the auto-brightness and WiFi tricks to no avail. The problem persists no matter what brightness my device is at and across multiple roms. I'm just about ready to send it back to ASUS for a replacement.
The flicker to black is not normal. Slight flicker at low brightness, more units have.

I have read about this somewhere
And you should return it. Flickering seems to be 'normal', going black is not

If JSS15Q or JSS15R doesn't fix it, I would return or exchange.
I returned the tablet to ASUS. After a 2 week turnaround time (including shipping both ways), I fired it up and immediately noticed the exact same problem (random flashing to black, plus some minor flickering). I called up ASUS again and inquired as to what they had "fixed". I was told by the customer service rep that they simply did a factory reset. They could offer no explanation why this was the only thing done.
So, back to ASUS it goes, again. This is frustrating.
Hello, thanks for reading, i bought a refurbished D800 and when i touch the screen i get like some blueish pixels, if i softly touch it no weird stuff appears on the screen. Is it the digitalizer or the LCD panel? does anybody know?, the pictures are attached. Thanks for reading!
Edit: exact same thing happening to this guy (check the video), even tho mine is much more subtle on the spots: http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g2/help/screen-weird-spots-problem-t2907316
My brother had the exact same problem with his D802 and in his case it was the battery which was getting bigger and bitter since it was defect. After replacing the battery, the problem was gone.
Since you bought a refubished phone, I think it could also be a wrong digitizer or LCD which got assemled.

Now that you say about the battery getting bigger and bigger, i noticed that the glass isnt where it should be, its pushed up, if i leave the screen on in complete darkness i can see the backlight filtering trough the cellphone's borders. Im gonna take it to a local shop to see whats wrong with it. Thanks for replying!!

Defective battery bro!

Wondering if anyone else has had an issue with their screen suddenly start glitching and flickering and being unresponsive. I just went and ordered a replacement v20 through t mobile due to the issue. I was rooted running stock Rom and kernel at the time but I don't see why that would cause that.
Sounds like possibly a faulty digitizer... But could be wrong.. Doubt it was root, more people would have been posting.

Possibly that or the display itself who knows. It was just really odd and i hope it doesn't happen again to me or anyone else. It"s kinda funny the t-mobile rep i talked to at the store tried blaming it on being rooted.
