[Q] does juice defender work? - Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I always hear news about the juice defender app, but does it work? and do we need it on our galaxy note 3? which already has great battery life...
please let me know your opinions, I also noticed there's many types of juice defender app.

I use green power premium, works wonders. Juice defender used to work well but hasn't been updated since almost 2 years. I haven't personally tested but I believe it isn't optimized for jellybean or more recent versions for Android, which is a shame because it has more features then most of the similar apps nowadays.
But like I said, green power does the job.

Greenify if you wanna stop apps sucking unneeded stuff, battery saving apps are kind of a grey area, some people are for them, others against. I used one only and stopped after around a week cause it had no effect IMO.

You don't need battery apps on this phone as it already has great battery life.
But if you still want to stop apps from sucking juice, just go in the Application manager and "disable" or "Force Stop" the respective apps. After this they wont appear in the App drawer and most importantly will not ruin your battery life.

juice defender question

just curious,i just wanna what does really affect the juicedefender battery multiplier?coz sumtimes i notice its x2.10,but then sumtimes it drops till x1.10,eventho i notice i didnt made any change to the hp(as in adding new widgets and stuff)
I stopped using juice defender after the last updates as the battery has been pretty much looking after itself, this was on the recommendations of other posters on this forum. You can get a bit obsessed by the figures on it. I'm also having a week without Task Killing too, cos I have read that you dont need to do that either. So far so good with battery life.
obsessed by the number figure?hehe yeah i guess it might be true, but bcoz i noticed the juicedefender helps me alot in saving my batt, coz before,my batery will only last around 18hours,but now after i installed juicedefender and un sync the gmail,i notice that my battery last me 2days+

Noticed that the posts concerning JD and task killers are more than a year old. Currently my X10i has 2.3.5 and the CM7-ZMOD CYANOGENMOD 7.
Will see how it goes from not having JD for a few days.

[Q] Increase Battery Life Apps work or not?

Juice Defender, Adv Task Killer, etc
Do you use them or not? Do they work or not? I have heard it both ways? What’s your guys opinions?
I know you can turn down screen brightness and turn off setting to get better battery life wifi, email checking, syncing, etc. OR just turn the phone and get great battery life
I say you got this amazing phone so use it.
Task killers are bad. Juice defender can work, but turning off your radio
can cause some wake lock issues with certain apps when they can't connect

^ Agreed. I keep my screen brightness all the way up because it looks the best and everything synced because what's the point of a smartphone w/o instant notifications? GPS stays on too. If on 3G I can easily get 14hrs out of a charge and on wifi 20+.
EDIT: And I can't stop fidgeting with the damn thing. I'd probably get better battery if I didn't turn the screen on every couple minutes.

Juice defender works amazingly.
Sent from my never been rooted, stock Froyo Epic.
In my experience. They don't.
I get the same/better battery life then I was using JuiceDefender.
I ran 1 week with Juice Defender and 1 week without, making sure to use the same amount of usage each day to test my theory. And it came out to about even with not using a program a slight edge.

JuiceDefender - real or not?

So I've been testing out this app for a while. I have Ultimate and I've been trying many different things. So far the conclusion I've came to is that this app does NOT save battery, at least for my usage.
I've done my testing using the 'balanced' state. I think it's because the app spends more battery turning on/off data and doing all of its things than it saves by having data off for a while.
What results do you guys have? Have you actually noticed any improvement on battery life?
If you want to help, please use GSam Battery Monitor and take screenshots of full battery cycles - one with JD and one without it. This will help us understand if, and how much, JuiceDefender actually helps.
JuiceDefender is real and the concept of it is real as well but it hasn't been updated in a very long time and is very unlikely to work nicely with Android 4.0 and above.
It's better in the end to just turn off the things you don't use manually.
it works best if you are rooted.

I am rooted - may I ask what's the difference for JD?
In any case, I would still like to get help if people are willing to actually test this, since I've been getting reduced battery life with Balanced JD (I've started testing myself).
Basically when your rooted juice defender can change system settings, when i cannot when you are not rooted.
I use an free app called "wakelock detector" and remove or disable any apps with high wakelocks, basically they keep waking the phone up when it is asleep and using the lowest power level, like over night.

Galaxy Light Battery Saving Thread!

First off, I'm totally stoked to see we have our own forum! Now on to my request/suggestion....
I'm wondering if it would be a good idea to make a list of ALL apps/processes that can be frozen/removed with Titanium Backup Pro. I've personally frozen as many apps as I think safe, but I think a proper list of EVERY process, along with what they do would be beneficial to all Light owners. I am trying to free up as much as possible for battery consumption reasons. If there is one complaint I have about this phone, its the ridiculous 1,800mah battery. My portable power bank is 3k for Pete's sake! But I figure the more we can free up, the better. I have Juice Defender installed along with Greenify and even use Clean Master to block auto-starting apps. But I'd like to really strip it down to the nitty gritty bare bones. I'm guessing the list for MetroPCS phones like mine would differ slightly from T-mobile phones so I would suggest just including ALL into one list. I'll contribute any way that I can but unfortunately I'm not smart enough to know what processes do what. When I did my own phone I basically froze everything that looked like I could do without it and crossed my fingers. But I'm sure theres many more that could have been frozen that I didn't. So Basically I'd Like this thread to be a battery saving thread. Anything and everything o do with battery saving. From suggestions on what to freeze, to suggestions on juice defender settings to suggestions on app settings. All things battery saving for the Galaxy Light. Any insight, advice, suggestions, help, would be greatly appreciated here

greenify is the best app ive found for hibernated unused running apps. http://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/greenify

Do we really need Greenify on a phone like this ?

Hi guys,
i've been using greenify since as long as i can remember, especialy on my Galaxy S3 it helped me out pretty good.
i bought the donation package for the note 4 so i could hibernate system apps to.
but now ive been thinking.. do we really need an app like that on our phones ?
i've been experimenting with S voice and when i enabled greenify service it doesnt give me a voice feedback and i have to say Hi galaxy 2 times.
so now i disabled greenify, but i would like to know if someone know's if greenify really makes a difference on a phone like this.
I installed Greenify and bought a spare battery for my Note 4 when I first got it. I've since uninstalled Greenify and only switch my batteries once in a while so they stay fresh.
I get such great battery life that my old battery-savings methods from my S3 don't really apply anymore.

Okay thanks ! that's the same i was thinking.
after a full day of using the phone (16 hours) i still dont get under 40%
how many SOT do you get ? assuming you are not rooted
Hi,
I dismissed it because this is the first smartphone that give me enough autonomy till the end of the day. If I need more autonmy with the two options that Samsung pro ide natively, power saving and ultra power saving its enough for me. I see other mates who also unistall it after using it because the difference is residual almost goes worst using it. That's what they say.
Greetings.

I personally don't use greenify on my note 4, used it on every phone earlier, just don't feel any difference anymore..i usually charge every night, and almost all the time the battery is >30% With this much battery left, greenify would just be an overkill.
All in all, I am in love with this note:angel:
I also uninstaled it didn't see any difference
I have a Samsung S5 Prime that has same hardware as Note 4.
I was wondering if remaining on KitKat for using Greenify and Amplify or just go to Lollipop.
You say to go to Lollipop without any doubts??
Can you please explain why in the deep?
Thanks so much.
Cheers.

I had the free version of Greenify on my Note 4 and didn't find that it gave me any better battery life. After a while I bought the donation package so I could stop system apps as well but I found that made my battery way worse because those system apps would always restart themselves. Greenify would keep stopping them when they restarted and it really ran my battery down. Currently I do not even have greenify installed and I get over 5 hours screen time so I'm happy.
I too would love to know by an expert does greenafly help or not.

My battery level doesn't drop overnight with greenify and it does without it so yes it does work. Buy full version so u can hibernate Facebook as this is a "system app"
