Is it possible to increase RAM speed?
Bcoz in defy while running applications lag in speed?
I think RAM speed 470+?
470 is the amount of ram available on cm7, not the speed. and im quite sure theres no way to increase ram speed, but i dont anyone would have a problem with that. the thing you need is ram manager (pro) which you can download from the market (play store). this app manages your ram in a way that you will never run out of memory, which is probably the main cause of your lag. hope this helps.

That script optimizes the RAM management. You cannot increase the memory speed because it's a physical limitation. You need a higher frequency of the RAM module.

Sir Kuro and Sir Savie, my question is what ram tweaks is best to use wherein I only want a ram usage of 97 to 120 mb just like my previous stock rom and kernel wherein I also use that 3 apps before and until now?
I have read many information that using task killer is not a help to battery and ram that is why I would like to ask your opinions who experienced in galaxy y so as not to use task killers but instead use ram tweaks
Also Sir Kuro, I have read your post about the V6, adrenaline and your own tweak but I am still confused as to what to use. My only goal is to have ram usage of 97 to 120mb and not to use task killers anymore.
Sir Savie and Sir Kuro please enlighten me and give me advice on what ram tweaks can i use.

linux memory management is different from windows memory management,
in windows the more ram available the better performance,
in linux the less ram available the better performance,
reason:
the system does not need to cache the required files anymore to the system, unlike windows
its not the ram which causes lag,
its the CPU usage by the apps

Once a brief statement for those who are not traveling so long in the Android scene:
ZRAM = ramzswap = Compcache
In order to explain more precisely ZRAM first need other terms are more clearly defined:
Swap can be compared with the swap file on Windows. If the memory (RAM) to complete the PC the data that are being used not actively outsource (eg background applications) so as to re-evacuate RAM free. To this data is written to a hard disk. If required, this data is then read back from there easily. Even the fastest SSD is slower than the RAM. On Android, there is no swap!
In ZRAM unnecessary storage resources are compressed and then moved to a reserved area in the fixed RAM (ZRAM). So a kind of swap in memory.
This Ram is more free because the data then only about 1/4 of the former storage requirements have. However, the CPU has to work in more because they compress the data has (or unpack again when they are needed). The advantage clearly lies in the speed. Since the swap partition in RAM is much faster than this is a swap partition on a hard drive.
In itself a great thing. But Android does not have a swap partition, and therefore brings Android ZRAM under no performance gain as would be the case with a normal PC.
In normal PC would look like this:
Swap = swap file (on disk) -> Slow
ZRAM (swap in RAM) -> Faster than swap
RAM -> Quick
With Android, there is no swap partition, and therefore brings ZRAM also no performance boost.
The only thing that brings ZRAM is "more" RAM. Compressed by the "enlarged" so to speak of the available memory. That's on devices with little RAM (<256MB) also pretty useful. The S2 has 1GB but the rich, and more than. There must not be artificially pushed up to 1.5 GB.
After you activate the ZRAM also has 2 disadvantages. The encoding and decoding using CPU time, which in turn has higher power consumption.
Roughly one can say (For devices with more than 512MB RAM):
Without ZRAM: + CPU Performance | + Battery | RAM
With ZRAM: CPU Performance |-Battery | + RAM
For devices with too little RAM so it makes perfect sense. But who shoots the S2 already be fully complete RAM and then still need more?
Check whether you can ZRAM runs in the terminal with
free or cat / proc / meminfo

no its very good for devices with less ram like 289mb and we have less ram,so its useless for higher ram devices with 800-1000,but that can u read in this guide

not really because the system all the time creates virtual ram and distributed, just as if the ram is not needed, because then the virtual ram not needed and the system distributes it then falls to a normal ram, but I think it also comes to the what and how much the device is made for running multiple concurrent tasks, it is recommended.

Yes you are correct as cpu will have to do more work compresshog and de compressing stuff so more power will be consumed

kernel 2.6.35 source code from samsung have ramzswap support, but you need user space program to enable it (need little patch to build it for sgy but it's easy).

i follow this instruction but using build-in ramzswap.ko in sgy kernel source. the trivial part is compile rzscontrol for sgy. i forget how i build it but AFAIR need few patching. i'll post if i find it.

With swapper you can have an swap file or you can choose to partition your SD-Card to have an swap partition there. Swap is not used by default in Galaxy Y and swap space is optional not really needed in Android (or Unix/Linux in general).
On the other hand, zram is a whole different beast.
If I'm not mistaken a dev for ace2 already made it several month ago. It using init.d script to control the zram stuff

Known issue with overclocking
It has been observed that the overclocking sometimes reverts back automatically to stock settings especially after heavy CPU load and if the device heats up.
I think have found why this happens:
Android OS level
there is a binary called: /system/bin/thermald which writes lower CPU freq values to the CPU sysfs interface if the device starts heating
there is also an app "Overheat Control" which i suspect is doing something similar
Kernel level
there seems to be some sort of fail-safe in place "msm_dcvs" which resets the CPU to 918Mhz or 1026Mhz or 1512Mhz
could also be some other things i am still searching
now there are ways to circumvent these issues but given the risk of the damage associated with overclock for long time i think its in our best interest to not screw with these fail-safes...
most of these will be will be taken care off in future kernel releases

Thanks for that, that explains partly why my Z1 trashed my 64gb SD card that I had working in my XZU the latter fully supports exfat
I guess it is wrong to assume anything when it comes to Sony devices, I had at least expected if the XZU supported exfat that the Z1 would also

Hello MOTO G2 users,
I have been testing a lot of setting to get the best out of the stock lollipop (u can try on custom ROMS too with appropriate(optimus kernel by Flashhhh works ) kernel) on our device. After lots of flukes and changing of setting I got the device to perform its best.
If u want to try u can go ahead, but I am not responsible if anything happens to ur device
ROOT REQUIRED(Obviously)
Requirements:
1. Stellar Kernel v3.0(recommended for stock not for custom rom): http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g-2014/development/stock-stellarkernel-v1-t3085277
2. Kernel Adiutor app (Download from playstore)
3. Optimus kernel (Only for custom ROMS not for stock)
Steps:
1. Open the kernel adiutor app (The stellar kernel should already be installed)
2. Set the settings as given below:
CPU:
Cpu max frequency: 1190 MHz
Cpu min Frequency: 300 MHz
Governor: interactive(mostly) or ondemand (I recommend ondemand only when u are sleeping as it saves battery)
Multicore power saving: Aggressive (U can keep it disabled if u want)
(Leave other settings as it is)
CPU Hotplug:
MPDecision: Off
Intelliplug: ON
Profile: Eco performance or balanced
Touch boost: On
MSM Hotplug: ON
Debug Mask: ON
CPUs Boosted: 4 (Adjust ur way)
Max cores screen off: ur choice
(Leave other settings as it is)
GPU:
GPU max frequency: 320MHz (u can try 450)
CPU governor: msm adreno tz
Simple Gpu Algorithm : ON
Laziness: 4
Ramp Threshold : 6
Low Memory Killer:
Foreground Application: 6MB
Visible " " : 8MB
Secondary Server: 16MB
Hidden Application: 20MB
Content Providers: 22MB
Empty application: 24MB
[Or u can apply this value easily using the scripts by selecting super multitasking profile (temp) from rt ram manger page in android development section]

I would recommend keeping a ram cleaner on ur device if ur ram usage goes high

Dont suggest users to use the M option which removes the bootanimation bin, it dosnt help suggest them to use xposed with the backported mem-leak fix module and an lmk profile from my script (different profiles work for different people), but otherwise, nice guide, ive been meaning to post something like this for a while!

Memory leak fix not required i guess
smartmax profile works perfect in my case.
Ya its good, but it may cause your phone to over heat.... Its upon you to choose governors but dont mess with low mem kill values:thumbup:

@Vedant Mistry Bit harsh, but its true that memory killers don't work on android, purely because of the way that memory management is handled on android. The whole system is set up to use lots of ram. Ram use isn't bad, CPU use is. If you use a task killer to free up more ram, android will just restart the service and use extra CPU in doing so, plus your phone will be slower because you haven't got the cached data already there in the ram. Free ram on android is wasted ram.
So, that, in a nutshell, is why the insult (however harsh) was flung.

First of all, I never told that I was some superhero(pro) that would give the 100% guarantee of this guide working for all. And I also know that free ram on android is wasted ram. But based on my experience with stock ROM running those low memory killer values, the ram usage goes high on running lot of apps e.g. 740mb/848mb and the phone just lags like hell. So by cleaning your ram (more like Memory boost) you can get out of the lag.
And if you don't want to follow this guide don't follow it but don't kill/be harsh on me. I have already written in the thread that any new suggestions are welcomed. I found this working so I posted it.
