Ive got an old motorola defy that ive been trying to install kit kat on without success ( it dies on the install update recovery and just displays the red M logo on re boot)
The intention is to just use it as a controler for a chromecast, with BBC Iplayer, , youtube netflix etc, ive tried CM10 but the iplayer app/bbc media player doesnt work ( keeps crashing/wont load video)
any advice on the best way to achieve this/ the best/most basic rom to use ie turn it on and just use - no passwords, pins or boot options that you have to select at start up?

I have the latest original firmware on my SM-T530 and screen mirroring does not work at all. I´ve tried two different methods:
1. Mirror the screen to a Amazon Fire TV Stick. The SM-T530 finds the Fire TV Stick, but a few seconds after I connect the devices, the Fire TV Stick says that the mirroring has been stopped (I can never see the screen of the SM-530 on the stick).
2. Using Screen Stream Mirroring App. I've also tried to mirror the screen bei using my Enigma2 Set Top Box. The mirror is available throgh rtsp. But the TV-Screen stays black.
Other devices (Honor 7, Ascend P6 Omni Rom, S3 Mini CM 11) work perfectly with both methods so I guess it's a problem with the SM-T530 firmware.
Is this a known issue of the firmware?
If not, could someone be so kind and test the screen mirroring with a Fire TV Stick?
If I'm the only one with this Problem, is it possible that I've unistalled a service (app) that is needet for screen mirroring? I've used Kingroot and uninstalled some Samsung and Google Stuff... So if It works on other SM-T530-Devices, I would flash the stock rom again but I don't want to do this if doesn't work anyway... If somebody else confirms this problem, I would contact the Samsung Customer Service.

I´ve switched to DU. Will not flash stock firmware again so the Bug doesn´t matter anymore for me.
Ok, so to start off I'm very familiar with Nexus Root Toolkit an its many graceful features & its ablity to bring the N7 from the brink of destruction (Soft -Brick) "AS LONG AS YOUR PC CAN DETECT THE DEVICE".
Here's the issue.. I was in TWRP (Multi-ROM) just renaming 1 of the Secondary ROMs to more friendly names, I hadn't done any flashing of any zips or roms for a few boots, I just booted into Recovery to do some renaming of Secondary ROMs that I had installed a few nights before but I had been in an out of several different one's just making sure they were all working so anyway.. after I was done renaming, I reboot the system & it just went F'ing blank.. now nothing.. there's no back light, no bootlogo, nothing happens at all when I plug in the charging or hold the power button with or w/out the vol-+ keys, I've checked the battery connection, it was snug but I removed it over night.. still nothing, I'm just clueless.. Before we jump on the NRT do a factory wipe & restore, when I plug it into Windows it instantly pops up with the "Device has Malfunctioned" not the "installing adb drivers" or anything like it has so many times before.. either Im over thinking this an the answer is so simple Im blinded by rage over how much this p1sses me off that it was working fine one moment an then just reboots to blank nothingness.. even if I take the battery out an try plugging it directing into the pc via the OEM usb cable it gives the same error with or w/o the battery in .. the toolkit cant even see it cause windows cant establish what the hell it is.. And yes I've tried installing every android driver possible.. the N7 was primarily for my wife to read e-books on.. so i rarely played with it.. an it was new sealed in the box just bought last year around this time so i can't believe the Flash Memory is shot already, if anyone could throw me their 2 cents it would be greatly appreciated , this is so frustrating but I think its BRICKED.. or at least some tiny flash chip is toast..

p.s. I apologize for the slight harsh tone, I'm just upset with this issue.. I got this particular tablet with the knowledge an understanding that it was the (almost) un-brickable tablet, yet I managed to do it.. If by some chance I get it to fire up, I will definitely let ya know.. But I have read alot of posts an my guess is somehow I managed to mess up the nvflash an now the memory chip or something is corrupt beyond a NRT Factory reset.. but again it was at almost full battery when i rebooted from within the TWRP Menus & I wasn't flashing anything previous to me being in my Main Rom which was stock rooted 4.4.4 de-bloated, playing a game called Empire 4 Kingdoms for like a 1/2 (just getting my daily's) before i decided to check out my Secondary Roms an rename a few because I wanted to started playing around with them to test how the same game played on different flavors or Android..

UPDATE STATUS - If I plug it into the pc without the battery i get a windows driver install box that says "Installing APX..." does this indicate the NVFlash is corrupt or is there a way to get out of apx mode.. im not familiar with that mode .. only ADB & fastboot..
Update 2 - After reading lots, I've come to conclude its hardbricked, must have had an error in memory or whatever.. its stuck in APX mode so im going to replace the whole MB with a working 32GB [model me370t] & start over .. maybe ill not install so many ROMS via multirom.. just a few - THREAD BE CLOSED - I'm done here, good luck to anyone with similar results

I have Acer Iconia Tab A501 with unlocked bootloader some TWRP and Omni 4.4.4 rom ( rooted )
For a while now google play services are constantly crashing , when popup is dismissed -it's just back within second . Tried to clean cache etc. but it didn't work
I wanted to reset it to factory settings to see maybe issue will go away ,
- Tried to reset normally : go Settings>> Factory reset , tablet just resets and is as it was
- Tried to enter recovery mode, to maybe install newers gaps , power down tablet, vol + power and for a brief moment I can see message ( loading recovery image ...) and then tablet resets just launching as normal
- google play services is in version 20.39.15 maby it would be possible to install newer apk ?
- I can put tablet into APX mode ( hold reset and power ) but even though I installed all drivers for USB Acer on Windows 10 , A500APXFlash by blackthund3r complains no drivers installed ( and in device manager APX is listed with warning )
- I can operate tablet ( closing constant error pop-ups ) so maybe there is some app that I can install to repair recovery ?
- google play store is busted but can install some apk not requiring google stuff
- I can reboot into bootloader which is I think then launching it in fastboot download mode (?) , but I have no idea what's next ( and maybe missing drivers as well ? )
- I have drivers : USB_Acer_1.00.0524_A30H_A31H_A32H_A500_A501
Can anyone help me and guide me what current procedure to make it working currently is ( I did flashed it but it was soo long ago, but have sbk )
Sorry to bump , but maybe at least somebody can give me a hint which drivers I need to make it work under Windows 10 ?
The ones downloaded through A500APXFlash link ( I think those comes from acer ?) clearly are not detected when my tablet is in APX mode

Maybe try this? Seems too be the Google play store without needing google play services. You need to be on lollipop though. I would recommend installing android 5.1 without gapps and trying it out.

I am unable to get woodman big b DSP into recovery mode. It has no buttons only a reset small hole. I have tried reset it does not work again goes in reboot loop and starts starting android , optimizing android apps and then reboot again. Please help me get that into recovery mode to reset it.

Hiwoodman is not a genuine seller . They import these chinese players from china and sell them to customers. Also they sell these players on very high rates. I purchase same player at 14000rs and in local market same player available at 7500 rs. They provide no after sell service. I also fail to get recovery for this player tried every method on internet. You can try flash the rom on this player through sp flash tool (need a pc or laptop with android bootloader and mtk drivers) but try your own risk. Because i can not find any specific rom for this player also the motherboard is different from the players available on net.
They fixed my player without any charges. They have good customer support you just hav to approach right people
I have an Android TV and I wanted to disable its launcher. Because I wanted to install my own launcher !
So I connected to it via ADB and made some changes.
Then the TV software crashed and when I restart the TV, I just see the first welcome screen of TV and nothing happens after that.
I think I need to factory reset the TV and I have nothing to do that.
My TV brand is UNEVA.
Does any body know nothing about that ?

On my fire tv edition I had to hold the power button a few second with the tv turned off and a few second after the logo starts up. The physical power button on the tv. You can try on the remote too, the same way. This is how you get to tv recovery on a fire tv edition.

Do you have an android tv or a smart tv? Is it a streaming device or the tv itself is not working? Turn off tv, hold down power button while you plug the tv back on and wait for a start up screen then the recovery screen.

You should be able to find the stock images for the current Android operating system on Google's website and then you can just reflash those
Your uneva brand Tv is an Android tv, and I assumed you connect to adb remotely. Can you check if you can still connect to adb? If you are messing with adb then you should know recovery mode, you need to get into recovery to factory reset.
Yes UNEVA is an Android TV and I used to connect to it using adb , but after making some changes in OS files (in shell mode) , the TV damaged and now I just can ping the TV and can not connect to it using adb.
So finally I think I need to get into factory reset mode.
But the problem is that I don't know where is factory reset page?

every brand of tv have their own hard factory reset buttons to press when you cannot access the software of the tv. you have a tv i have never heard of maybe you can get a hold of pdf of your tv instructions. Good luck.
Unfortunately I could not find its Guide Book. It is almost a no-name Chinese brand and because of that, I thought maybe I can find a way using the TV's android software (Wisdom Share)
But anyway, thank you for your help.
