Htc isn't garbage and neither is samsung. Each excel at different things. (and have their own downsides).

If I got a phone from another manufacturer I wouldn't see it being anybody but HTC, though I always keep my eyes open for what's best. (No blind loyalty here!)
That said, everything I've seen about the SGS II makes it fairly clear it's set the bar on a whole new level... so barring some amazing discoveries I'll be going the SGS II route.
'course I just got my Vibrant yesterday but I've got a fairly voracious appetite as far as my toys go.
im actually suprised to see so many vibrant owners comtemplating samsung again. Yes, I am too. But I am definitely Very Cautions with our GPS problems, crappy software, and of course the Froyo debacle....
I am considering anything as it comes. At this point, seems the Sensation and GS2 seem to be the 2 worth waiting for. just really cautions with the GS2 given the Vibrant problems
My only concern with htc is battery life. If its not horrible, the sensation is a buy. I know the tbolt and evo had issues.

Nope, can't beat these screens and since 90% of all the new phones are all screen it only makes sense to go with the best looking and best responding ones.

I'm not close minded, I have given HTC phones a try. In fact I've had 4 of them. Now just like I said all 4 of those phones were complete garbage as far as hardware failure and just being worthless hardware to begin with. Once again I state what I believe to be a fact.

Ill be going back to HTC and getting the Sensation.

I agree with htc is near garbage. Every phone is damn near the same. Ive just purchased an sgs2 from uk. Ive had the hd2, hd7, DHD, Inspire and played with evo and a couple verizon version. Build quality is great except the lcd plasitc they use. I guess im spoiled by the gorilla glass after breaking and repairing a couple hd2s.
I guess I became a music addict over the last year and htc music quality is horrible. HD7 audio was the worst. HD2 was probably the best htc phone when it comes to audio.
I buy and sell alot of phones via Craigslist and eBay. I've had my Vibrant since October and this is honestly the longest I have kept a phone in the past 3-4 years. I absolutely love the phone.
I had the using (2) MY4Gs, and HD2, HD7, myTouch slide, (2) G2's, Cliq2's, (2) Blackberry Torches, Bold 9700 and 9780 etc etc etc. the list goes on. So far, the Vibrant has by far been been my favorite phone and I have had a great experience.
HTC, IMO is shaky in terms of build quality. No doubt, I felt the HD2/HD7 felt more substantial in the hand than the Vibrant. But you can't defend the fact that the HD2 is plagued with failure rates. At least once a week, I see broken ones pop up on CL. I also loved the 4.3" screens.
I felt the MY4G was sub-par compared to my vibrant, even though I felt it was still an excellent phone.
I will most likely get the GalaxyS2 a couple months after it comes out
right now the sgs2 is the only phone i'd switch from my vibrant for. i'm not really brand loyal, but i think samsung is quickly learning that their sgs users expect os updates and you can't beat their hardware. plus samsung seems to be pretty dev friendly considering odin, how easy the sgs was to root, and how quickly they have been releasing their source.
Who is on the fence between these two phones and just awaiting the reveal to make the decision? If the s4 is actually the one being leaked today I will absolutely be getting the one no doubt. Was honestly hoping Samsung would change the design up, but I'm pretty sure I will be disappointed again.

there was some speculation that they would take off the home button but guess what.. they haven't.. lol
I made a mistake (for 6 weeks) to go on an S3 LTE and sold it straightaway.. the whole HTC experience with Sense is fantastic.. unsure about Sense 5.0 and would take some getting used to.. Sense 4.0 was just about perfect and looked slick..
It's a phone full of Meh, looking forward to tomorrow for my One.

First I must preface this with I havent been around XDA since I swapped from my HTC Incredible to the 4S. I use Verizon Wireless and currently have an iPhone 4S. Its on a 2 year plan currently and not eligible for an upgrade.
My wife broke her iPhone 4. The plan is to get her my 4S and get something new.
Currently Im stuck between the HTC One and the Galaxy S4 on Verizon. Historical what manufacturer has the best development? I can almost guarantee either phone will be rooted, bloat ware will disappear, and probably a custom ROM. Also pros and cons of each phone? Hardware wise they are pretty similar. I havent had any luck finding unbiased reviews. People seem to love or hate and there is no middle of the road.
HTC One is a solid choice, don't get me wrong the S4 is excellent device. I have one but after using the HTC One since Verizon employees were able to get their hands on one and I think I found a solid phone to replace this little beauty ;Motorola Droid RAZR M. The M is by far the best phone I have ever used for the price, especially on CM

Looks are nice, but the lack of a removable battery and no SD card slot ruins it.
So it's time to retire the G2. I left the S4 for the G2. My first impression of the S4 was lagfest. Drove me insane. Does anyone think the S5 will be the same way?
Without being biased to Samsung, which device do you think will be a better phone? I am not brand loyal. When the announcement of the S5 was over I was highly disappointed and expected much more from them. I haven't had a HTC device since the EVO4g.

There is no better device, there's just a matter of preference. If you have a chance go to your local best buy and try the S5. Then go to a Verizon store tomorrow and try the M8 then pick which one you prefer.

How can one consider a HTC instead a Samsung/Sony/Nexus/Motorola device?
I am a Verizon customer so I cant do Sony. I also have a droid Maxx and it's just OK. No Nexus either with cdma

I have seen some camera samples from the M8 and they don't look that good.
4 MP is just not enough IMO, Ultrapixel or not.
Also, it's larger than the S5 and yet has a smaller screen and also On screen buttons.
But it's better that you look at both of them hands on before you decide.

Thank you. I guess I'm not the only idiot here because HTC is a Taiwanese/Chinese company. So HTC phones are literally, chinese.
But anyway, one of the main advantages the 2013 One had now is gone, the 2014 One lacks OIS, big fail.
No OIS in M8
How can they remove an important feature like that for the sake of gimmicks like 2nd camera?

the images from M8 looks even worse that m7 specially in low light AND no OIS #fail
It would seem that there is just alot of fanboys of sony and htc around, as I see people complaing that the s5 is a s4s and all this crap the plain turth is all of the 2014 phones are only a minor upgrade to last year and the m8 even less so.
I just came back from carphone warehouse tottenham court road where i played with the remote err i mean phone.
people say the s5 is zzzz, well this is zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Phone is so very nearly the size of the note 3, it looks good in terms of the shape of the phone but the new material feels less premium than the m7 imo, it feels more plastic like compared to the m7. the htc logo argghh that logo such a waste of space and makes the phone bigger for no reason and uglier imo. the camera is rubbish.
sound quality is good though and the phone is loud and lots pf bass and clarity
screen looks good
phone memory is 16gb in uk with 9.53gb available (yet people complained about the s4) and yet sense 6.0 doesn't have as many features as the s4.
All in all imo its hte least interesting htc phone ive seen since the sensation. Wasn't impressed atall. I remember i was so excited when i played with the htc one last year that just after 3 mins i pre ordered it.
Htc m8 is a big let down in my eyes. Good design with poor camera quality. Hardly any cool software upgrades. This is not the way to sell HTC.

Just wondering what people are considering for their next phone. I have used HTC since the first EVO and like the product, but it looks like there won't be a "11" coming out and the U ultra is only GSM. So what company phone is comparable with metal case? Might have to check what other phones the BadBoyz make roms for since I like their work. Hope posting here is ok t/u...

The other 2 guys in my group switched to ZTE Axon 7, but they'll be back on HTC, although I'm the only one still on Sprint.

I have had a chat or 2 and emailed but nothing positive was said. Only mentioned the bolt and I think the 10 is just as good if not better. Nothing new under the hood so no need to switch. Hope you are right since my 10 is coming up on a year soon and I am looking to upgrade... t/u

There definitely will be a new HTC flagship this year. HTC pushed back the successor of the 10 due to the timed exclusive that Samsung had with the new 835 SoC.

I love my HTC's. Only Android phone I've ever owned. But I gotta admit I'm thinking of going to something else for my next phone. The aftermarket support for HTC, specifically cases, and the ****ty cameras are starting to get to me.

I don't understand what people want out of cameras. Like i've never looked back at a picture on my htc and said this looks like a blurry mess. Are memories being ruined?
As far as switching, I know I left HTC and bought a samsung galaxy 3. I hated that phone. I ended up back with HTC. Made another mistake in buying a galaxy note 5 due to the size. In less than 8 months I was back with HTC when the HTC Ten was released. This is just my experience, but I always find myself coming back to HTC. I would be lying if I didn't say the future isn't looking all that great for the company though. I'm sad about what phone I will have to moved to once they get out of the market.

Agreed... HTC has always delivered high quality devices, I have never been disappointed with a HTC camera, people seem to expect too much.
I think the HTC 10 successor will be a winner!

I've always been the first to defend my HTC camera.... But then my girlfriend with her S7 Edge and a friend with his S7 send me pictures that are just noticeably better quality than mine it makes me wish for a better camera. I actually think the M8 camera was better than my 10's.
