Samsung Alarm clock app no longer reliable since 4.4.2 update - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've started to get some reliability issues with the stock Samsung Alarm app since I moved to 4.4.2. My alarm setup is as follows:
Alarm 1: Mon to Fri weekly repeated, only when in Location A
Alarm 2: Mon to Fri weekly repeated, only when in Location B
Alarm 3: Sat weekly repeated
Alarm 4: Sun weekly repeated
The time I need to wake up Mon to Fri depends on whether I'm in Location A or B but there's no routine to which days I'll be in which locations. Therefore, Alarm 1 and 2 are set at different times.
While I was on 4.3, this worked flawlessly and never had a single issue. However, since moving to 4.4.2, Alarm 1 hasn't gone off twice when it was supposed to. The first time it happened, I put it down to me turning it off in a half sleepy state (quite unlikely as I'm a very light sleeper) but the second time it happened, I was fully awake with the phone in my hand and it never went off at all. However, Alarm 1 and 2 have both gone off correctly on at least 1 occasion so it does seem intermittent.
To help diagnose the issue, I've turned off the location aspect of the alarm and I'm manually managing the alarms but it's not ideal. I've yet to used the weekend alarms.
Has anyone else run into this issue?

Oh God, I feared this, I so badly feared this. God no. When I first saw that the lock-screen time and phone's actual time don't synchronize since the arrival of bloody KitKat that was the first thought came into my mind!! And now I am seeing this post.
Please tell me how can I go back to 4.3?

Problem with Alarm on my Tytn

I'm having this weird problem with my Tytn, for a past few days my alarm just goes off eventhough I've not set the alarm. It's my normal alarm time 4:45am and 4:50am and three mornings in a row it just goes off at mentioned times and after first morning I made sure the alarm was turned off anf I also soft reseted the phone but it still went off two mornings in a row. this morning I also tried setting the alarm at a diffrent time just to see it will stop the morning alrrms, but the alarms sounded in the mornings and also at the times I had set.
I appreciate any replies to help fix this.

alarmclock goes off randomly

hi!
i have a small problem, namely that as soon as i turn on my alarm to wake me up in the next morning, the alarm always goes off at every full hour beginning from 10 o'clock and it doesn't matter at which time i set the alarm. so for example if i set the alarm for 11:30 the alarm will start at 10 o'clock, then again at 11 o'clock and then at 11:30. I already had the same problem when i was using FInixNOver 3.2 so i upgraded to 3.3. it worked for one day or so but then the problem came back. does anyone have a clue to what's going on in my trinity ?
Hi.
I don't know if this well help but as far as I know, relying on the inbuilt system's alarm clock to work properly is a waste of time. Mine used to go off intermittently. In the end I did a hard reset and bought a 3rd party time software (I recommend Spb Time). No more problems.
thankyou very much for your help. unfortunately i haven't tried it out yet, because the problem somehow seems to have resolved itself for no apparent reason. i will see how long this will go on and once the problem occurs again i will do the same thing you died.
thx very much again tho for your reply!

New clock/alarm problem?

I've read a lot about people having issues with their alarms. This morning, I had the first one of those.
Alarm was set for 7.30, when I woke up around 8.30 and picked up the phone, it seemed the clock was stuck at 4.30 am and took about 3 seconds to update (not the fancy HTC clock, the one in the notification bar!). I went to bed last night around midnight and didn't touch the phone all night.
Alarm did not go off even belatedly once the clock updated. This is also not a recurring alarm issue since I only set this one last night. Also not a sound issue, the volume was up quite high and not mistakenly set to silent as has happened to some people.
Has anyone else experienced this?
(and yes, I'm still running a T-Mobile G2 stock ROM, too much of a chicken to update to the new leaked ROM! Hoping HTC will roll it out officially ASAP!))
Thanks for any input!
I've had the same problem with my Hero, and I had the same problem with my old XDA Orbit (also made by HTC) that was running Windows Mobile.
I wonder if it's a hardware issue with the way HTC interfaces their firmware with the hardware clock or something like that.
i do also have the same problem, sometimes. it helps to simply reboot the phone. i don't know why it goes in some kind of "deep-sleep", but i hope it will be fixed in the next update.
I've had the same thing (ish) but it was just a crash - I'd been installing and uninstalling apps all night, didn't reboot my phone before going to bed at 11pm. When my alarm failed to go off, I looked at the clock and it was stuck on 11.03pm and the screen wouldn't slide down to unlock, so it had crashed just after I'd gone to bed.
Since then, if ever I'm installing and uninstalling and testing apps and fiddling with settings, I always reboot when I'm done just to make sure nothing's misbehaving. Not had the problem since.
I tend to turn on the alarm each night and turn it off in the morning.
Not had an issue with it failing yet.
Not that that is the right way around it as it should go off at the same time each day when left on all the time.
But it may help if some are having a recurring issue.

Deletion of an alarm. Without interface.

How do I see/delete the alarms that are set without using the regular alarm interface?
I recently I flashed a new ROM and installed a whole bunch of programs, but even though the 3 alarm slots are not set or set for other times, i still get 3 alarms going off from what I had previously set.
control panel, clocks and alarms, alarms
I wouldnt hold out much hope of that working.......
Ive had the same problem in the past 2 months and I cant find a solution, worst part is that it seems to be completely at random.
Scheduled alarm always still works but sometimes I'll get other random alarms, sometimes I wont.
A hard reset / reflash should sort the problem though.......
I´m having exactly the same problem with an alarm I set a few weeks ago set at 23:30 going off every day! I´ve deleted it from alarms and it´s not showing in either the HTC menu or the windows one. It even shows the comment for the alarm I originally entered. I´m on normal ROM and haven´t changed it or installed any apps for ages - the problem just started. Also got this annoying time skipping 1 hour forward since the clocks changed, mines gone up to 5 hours ahead!! Damn my HD2 is annoying me at the moment!

Alarm doesn't make any sound

I already searched for the problem but I only find thread about the alarm completely not working, while mine at least does something.
During the last 3 months this has happened a few times. I wake up only to find the screen of my Diamond2 turned on (I disabled the energy saving stuff) with the Alarm popup on the screen (where you can choose Snooze or dismiss).
Now I overslept and there can only be 2 reasons:
1. I didn't hear the sound and the phone just stops the alarm after a while.
2. The alarm worked like it should except that it didn't make any sound.
The Alarm setup worked fine for several days. The phone wasn't silent (even if it was, I allowed the alarm to ignore that).
I'm using the Energy ROM but I guess it doesn't matter since it happened with the Stock ROM as well.
I'll have to go to work now and explain why I'm 2 hours late.
Try an app called G-Alarm
I found the same problem. I think it is because I deleted some files from the device; so I fixed that running an older backup I had. Hope it works for you.
I have the same problem... sometimes alarm doesn't work...
Photon ROM
Try out my next release 1.3 for these issues fixed .
Thanks.
