Hi all!
my Z1 compact has the "Bootloader unlock allowed: yes" listed on the Configuration page of the *#*#SERVICE#*#* hidden menu. I have not done anything to make it this way. Is this how Z1c's are sold? Or did I buy a Z1c which was unlocked by the seller (maybe because the seller could buy simlocked/branded Z1c's cheap)?

That just means its possible to unlock your bootloader if you choose to do so
Sent from my D5503 using xda app-developers app
It means your phone is not branded or your carrier allows unlocking.
And please post questions in the Q&A section: http://forum.xda-developers.com/sony-xperia-z1-compact/help :good:

Hi guys,
I just brought hd2, it has Orange simlock but I'm Vodafone, can I unlock it?
how?
I need a software unlock ... not with web site + € plz ...
Thank you very much for your help!
You can't unlopck it by using software, you'll need to get the sim unlock code from the previous owner or from orange.
You could contact orange and ask for it. In most cases carriers give you the unlock code for free if the phone was sold over two years ago, otherwise it'll cost you.
Here in the netherlands they usually charge around €30,00-€60,00, that's about $40-$80

You may unlock your HD2 by software, but you'll need also additional special hardware(some kind of box) in order to make this possible!
Faster(and, of course, easier) is buying your unlocking code on-line: there are plenty!

It's unclear if you mean region locked or SIM locked. In any case there are a lot of threads about both if you do any kind of search in the forum. You have lots of options from obtaining a paid unlock code online to modifying your phone's blacklist yourself. Have a look at existing threads for detailed information.
.
Thank you
Hi,
I have a Vodafone "single sim" P8 lite. I enabled the second sim and unlocked the bootloader but I'm keep getting the carrier unlock screen and I can only use Vodafone SIM.
How can I unlock so I can use other carier SIM?
Sorry if it is a double post but I searched the forum and found nothing related to may issue.
Thank you, Stefan.

Hi all,
As the title says I have look at the English version to get the unlock code for my phone but it doesn't have the UK on the list.
Has anyone from the UK managed to unlock their phone so they can I steal a custom Rom, if so how?
Cheers in advance,
Blinky.

Cheers for this, the issue is when I go to the unlock site there is no option for the UK on the list of countries. This is the problem I am having, how do I find a way to unlock it myself using the UK as a country?

It doesn't matter which region you choose to unlock the Bootloader.
Just pick someone, for example my account is "Hong Kong China" and I unlocked my phone, which is EU region
I'm telling you, the region doesn't matter ;p
If you want send me a PM with your IMEI and I'll send you Bootloader unlock code for free.
There are lots of posts out there like this that provide instructions on how to unlock the bootloader, and many other posts that say you can't if Service Settings reports "Unlock Bootloader: No". My problem is that my phone reports 'No' and I very much want to flash a custom rom. Can I do this by downgrading the firmware or some other process? Apparently, Sony won't do this remotely... Help!?
UPDATE:
Here is my transcript from Sony support:
My phone reports Unlock Bootloader: No in System Settings.
