Hi guys, I am on rooted Note 3 stock rom 4.3 with Knox disabled. Is it possible to update to 4.4.2 without losing all my data? If so would anyone mind pointing me in the right direction?
Thanks

Using odin to flash stock 4.4.2 should not wipe yout data believe it or not. However transfer you internal sd contents to your pc to be safe

Hi all, I m new to Samsung, previously using HTC. I got a simple yet a question that troubling me and preventing me from rooting my phone. I saw a thread regarding the CF-auto root which i think is a most easiest way to root my phone (GT-I9505). Here is my phone details:
Baseband version - I9505DXUAME2
Build number - JDQ39.I9505XXUAME2
Android version - 4.2.2
It is possible to use the CF-auto root to root my phone? Thanks if you can help me up.

Yes, can confirm that. But CF- Auto Root also works on the I9500, different file off course. Link http://autoroot.chainfire.eu/.

TA only resets to 0 if you have a stock rom and recovery, otherwise it will always jump back to 1. Don`t use TA with a custom kernel, that may cause soft bricks/bootloops.

Basically, from what you are saying it is much safer to be on stock for the mean time? Are there stable roms out there that thats available? Mostly from what i read on android dev, they are mostly alpha (please correct me if i am wrong).
Btw, thanks for your help. I have successfully rooted my i9505 using cf-auto root. My second question is what would be the most stable recovery?
I read from an article that CWM is still unstable?
Hey everyone,
I'm having issues with my note 3 (tmobile) and I'm not sure if it has to do with rooting, but every since I rooted my phone I cannot go into my stock dialer/contacts. As soon as I click it, it just says "Unfortunately, Contacts has stopped." I've tried rebooting the phone. And still no luck. I've also cleared cache and data and still nothing. Anyone know how to fix this issue? I've had to download a crappy dialer until I resolve this issue. And even with another dialer I cannot get to my call log, it gives me the same error, but at least i can get to my contacts.
Anyways thanks for the help!
If it helps I'm on: Tmobile note 3 Rooted using towelroot On 4.4.2
I guess you did something wrong while rooting.

unrooting and rooting again may not solve anything.
Flash stock room of your firmware (region)
since you are rooted it won't cause any problems to flash stock, look in the sticky section and do make a backup of it data and rom via cwm
Thanks I'll look into this and read the sticky. Also did it make a difference if I've remained on Stock? And would this trip Knox or anything like that?

But maybe you trip knox while try root. Except of towelroot
Hello!!!! First of all this is an awesome forum wich I read all the time and had helped me a lot with my old i9000. I really appreciate your hard work.
I got an i9500 that was in stock 4.4.2, so I updated it to a custom ROM 4.4.4 but the battery usage is more than I expected to be and the phone gets really hot, more than before.
Now I want to get back to stock 4.4.2 from 4.4.4. Is there any special procedure I need to do or I just flash it with ODIN and everything should be OK?
I will really appreciate any help in this matter.

Hi,
You have to fullwipe your device before and after you flash it. Then take the right 4.4.2 stock firmware and it will work.

So... this is what I'm going to do:
1.-Full Wipe. (cache, system, dalvik, etc.)
2.-Take the right stock 4.4.2 ROM and flash it with ODIN
3.-Another full wipe
Is that correct?
Thanks for your help.

Hi everyone. I just bought my SGS4 today (i9505) and I want to know how to proceed before messing around. I searched a lot on the forums and on the internet but I can't figure out what to do.
I'm currently on 4.2.2 and I'd like to flash a custom rom without voiding the knox counter. How should I do?
Thanks in advance

Ok so.. Before rooting with Towelroot, should I upgrade to the latest available firmware? Also, once I want to go back to stock, how should I do?

Sry I've read you are on Version 4.4.2. My mistake.
So you currently run Android 4.2.2. Do you have the Knox bootloader already? It is inverted to all firmware builds MGG or higher.
When you don't have the Knox bootloader you can flash everything you want to and you are still able to reset the counter with triangle away.
When you are on the new Knox bootloader i would recommend you to upgrade to the latest Android version and then use the link I posted.

My build version ends with UDMGG so I believe I have knox. Before updating.. is it possible to revert to stock (for warranty pourposes) with the method you linked me?

You can mess around by safely using custom roms without tripping knox to.
The i9505 supports that too.

Just flash stock rom via and youre done.
But remember once knox is tripped (0x1) you cannot make it okay.
That is why I said you can safely "mess around" with your i9505 by flashing custom roms without tripping knox.

Thank you sir.. Just to clarify: I could use the same method to flash the stock image? If this is correct, could you provide a link to these stock images?
Sorry for being such hesitant, but I don't want to screw up with my warranty. At least, not yet.

Unroot and back to stock.... Sure.
But once knox has been tripped that's it.. Not going back
No one has cracked this yet to perform the knox counter rollback on these newer phones
Note 4 also...but n-910G

I would recommend wiping your data before you flash your firmware again since you are rooted.
