Drift Mania: Street Outlaws performance - Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys, so this what I found of the performance of the racing game Drift Mania: Street Outlaws from different ROMS:
Rooted 4.4.2 Poland TW - Very laggy
Switch to CM11 - No lag at all
Switch to X-Note v12 - The game became lag again
So my question is, why is it that the game perfrom smoothly on CM11 and not on the other two? And is it possible to achieve that smooth performance on X-Note as I don't want to revert back to AOSP rom as I'll be losing the S-View and native App2SD ability.

Well you just compared two TouchWiz ROMs and an AOSP ROM.
Heavy with a lot of junk (TW) vs. an empty bottle (AOSP)
There could be bugs in the TW Framework that might be causing the lag.

SGS1 (I9000): Testing CM 10.1 vs. SlimBean 5.0

After being tired with the official gingerbread stock, i decided to give two mods a try, that seemed to be interesting to me:
CM10.1 - latest RC and SlimBean 5.0 (semaphore), based on CM, claiming it is very clean and fast (very interesting to me). both look really nice and so i decided to help myself with the decision by installing my std. apps and benchmark it with antutu 3.3 - 3x ina row after a fresh install andfrsh restart.
the benchmark fits with my subjective feelings: CM10.1 was faster in loading apps and i noticed a slight but annoying waiting time in SlimBean for the keyboard to pop up - the swype-handling is not smooth enough in SlimBean, but only slightly slower. Same with the pin code after starting android - SlimBean delays my entered keys, CM works smooth. To the other hand, SlimBean seems to be faster in graphics. Once i open (e.g. contact list or gallery) sth. in SlimBean, it seems to be way more faster the 2nd time - compared to CM10.1
my take for this moment: i went back to CM10.1 mainly because auf the keyboard delay. i don't play games on my smartphone so i don't care about the gpu.
ps: comments about your experience are welcome.
Alternative Roms
I'm with swift Mackay based Xperia Style using its own keyboard (not updated for long time unfortunately but Mackay is),
and I can suggest CyanAOSP and Gamerz (even without games) with Mackay / Cyan kernels.
I also used Semaphore all over and enjoyed deep idle and low 100 top 1400 MHZ tweaks, with various schedulers.
Hope you will have time to add more benchmarks before settling down with a fine rom

Thak you for your informatioan. But I have a question: why in Slim, all thins are small? How can I increse its?
You need to increase LCD Density to 240 (default for devices with 480x800 screen resolution).
I think it's under Slim Interface settings.

[Q] Custom Rom Performance?

Hi everybody! I own this s4 for four days now, but i can't find a custom rom with a good kernel that is faster than the stock samsung's! I think is really strange! For exaple with the stock 4.3 TW i fell the phone a lot more fluid and on antutu i have like 29k points!
On custom rom 4.3 or 4.4 with different kernels (i've tried like 4-5 roms and many kernels) the phone is more laggy and on antutu never more than 26k points!
Why? I remember my Nexus 4 that on stock was like 15k points and on custom aosp with good kernel was like 21k!!!
Thanks in advance and sorry for my bad english!
I recommend Goldeneye ROM, it's stable and fast

Seriously benchmarks and day to day performance are not worth comparing.
I find flashing aosp roms coupled with kt kernel(with the eclipse profile its really fast but I normally use the balance reloaded profile for lower performance to preserve battery life) much faster than stock. Check out this thread for more profiles that might be to your taste and you do not have to tune the kernel yourself: KT-SGS4 [Kernel] Builds ◆ALL VARIANTS◆ [AOSP/TW/GE - 4.4/4.3/4.2] ★KTWEAKER SHOP★ Stock might have high benchmarks but when it comes to daily usage I don't find it smooth at all.
dont give too much about antutu benchmarks... we all know what samsung is doing with benchmarks as for general usage, i find all the custom roms running smoothly right now... cm/omni in particular

[Q] Omnirom on S3 (core2 offline, camera issues )

Hi all,
i've started installing roms on my s3 in the last two weeks because i was fed up with abysmal jelly bean stock performance.
Started making images etc and pretty soon i was testing various roms. Really painless with cwm etc.
I was amazed at how much faster cm11 was and how responsive and smooth everything got. cm11 m6 wasn't as stable though is i would have liked.
I tried omnirom (4.4.2-20140513-i9300-NIGHTLY). I really like the features it has over cm11 and it IS more stable but it seems it isn't that responsive and smooth (still way better than bloated jellybean stock though) but enough of a difference to make it seems it has issues.
I noticed that core2 is always offline apart from when it's frechly booted.
On one side i don't know if it is normal. You can't see the 4 cores in cm11 so i don't know if cm11 does the same thing but i noticed that omni even isn't as smooth in for example games even when it's freshly booted and it says the four cores are running at 1400. True skate and rayman legends both run buttery smooth on cm11 without dropping a single frame at 60fps vsynced. Omni seems to stutter sometimes and and also sometimes looses vsync!!!
The fact that it's more stable and has no bluetooth dropouts as opposed to cm11 m6 makes me stick with omni...but one thing is really annoying me...THE CAMERA!
Om both google camaera, the "stock" omni camera2.apk and the cm11 camera2.apk i installed in omni the video is super slow...maybe 10 or 15 fps. Also the viewfinder really struggles to keep up for probably the exact same reason the video shooting is so bad.
Will there be a fix for that?
Ow...and i don't have multiwindow??? Is that normal.
Thanks all!

[Q] does the galaxy s4 really lags or is there a fix?

I am deciding on whether to buy an s4 or an xperia z1 ... I have watched gaming videos of the s4 and some games seem to lag (e.g. san andreas) while they work fine on the z1... And i read people complaining that the s4 is indeed laggy, not just games but in touchwiz and transition animations also.... are there fixes/updates that solve this 'lagginess' or is it still present till now?
lag in TW roms is a must...hehe, all TW roms lags, some lags more and some less, there will always be a tiny little of lag...sadly, about gaming its not TW problem, its more of optimizing the games for the cpu and gpu, if you look at galaxy s2 and s3 they plays gta sa without lag, but in S4 it lags a lot.....
is it the same thing on the exynos version? it's strange, galaxy s4 being the most popular smartphone at the time did not get optimized versions of games.
yes, its in every version, i my self have i9500 and even with TW custom roms it lags, cm based roms are a lot better in terms of speed, but they have some bugs so its not the best solution, miui rom is very good but they don't support it anymore, maybe later they will be back, i have TW based custom rom and i get angry when i want to use the phone quickly but don't have the needed speed......in the beginning of the next year i will be buying a new phone but its a bit of problem for me, i really want to have the NOTE 4, but i know that it will lag like the S4.....
I understand it lags in touchwiz interface but it does lag in games at well? the exynos version?
Lags
I got a S4 with a custom kernel. No lags so far, I got the International Variant, the GT-I9505 with the latest Firmware from Samsung. I debloated it by myself so maybe that could be the reason why it don't lags. My Ram is around 800MB when I use it normal. Greetings
it lags in games not because of TW, its because of bad optimization for the cpu and gpu....maybe if you flash cm based rom it will lag a bit less but still don't think for a second that its going to be smooth, its not only S4 problem, htc one m7 also have the same problem....and many more, for gaming you have to get an iphone......sadly....

Use this Xposed module:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2674928
This will probably fix your lag (only for TW). From what I read CM/AOSP roms also have better performance.

No it's probably because you have a custom kernel where the tweak is already applied.

Well than he can also flash a custom kernel. I can give him a link
No lag
I'm using stock 4.4.2 NG8 [open Europe] and there is no lag ever
lagged with me once but i found that an apk called [Galaxy Locker] causes this lag, the battery is kind of good and the overheating is almost fixed
while playing huge games Like [Modern Combat 5,Iron man, Assassin Creed Pirates] or even browsing.the max temperature my cell phone reached was 36.2 *C and it's great, while recharging it's only 31.2 *C
can't say much tw rom is full of bloatware..debloat the rom and you get smooth TW rom

Marshmallow vs Lollipop Performance

Hi, well i need to know user experiencies about MM roms on Note 5 because lets take for example GTA Liberty City Stories, un Lollipop the game is full playable no lag at all but on Marshmallow the game lags and stutters like if the Note 5 were a Galaxy S3, i'm running Decent ROM and SkyHigh kernel and i want to know if this is normal or can you recommend me another ROM for gaming, or you think that LP is better for gaming than MM?
