You are using too new of a version of TWRP. That version was built for CM11 and does not work on CM10.2. Find an older version.

Hi my friend has the defy and has been sent a replacement by Tmobile as original was faulty. It has come back with 2.3.3 on it and its so much slower now. My question is will rooting it and instaling cm9 etc speed it up a lot?

Hey
If he wants a system that runs very stable and also smooth, he should give CM7 a try.
I wouldnt recommend CM9 since its death on the defy.
CM10 has come to a point where its very usable, ive been using it in the past weeks and i had not a single problem with it
Thanks for the reply dude. Iv rooted with super one click but everytime I try flash CWM I get stuck in boot loops any idea? I use RDS to go back to start again and keep trying but same old carry on

Hope that you're wiping data, cache and dalvik cache after flashing via CWM.
I can't get cwm to install aha I'm going to try 2ndint apk
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
Yup. You need to install 2ndinit to get CWM onto a stock ROM.

What gapps zip are you using? Make sure that if you're running CM10 4.1.2 that you aren't using a gapps zip for 4.2...

You have to install twrp to install cm10.1. First download goo manager from the market then open app go to top right a press button and press install the script that will install twrp then it will reboot the tablet into recovery mode.
Backup ROM
Factory reset
Wipe cache
Then install ROM then gapps then press reboot
Post in Q/S next time Thanks

YOu might be better served with the redemption ROM, have you tried that. Its up to 4.1.2 and everything is working properly, good smooth ROM with all the samsung bells and whistles including multi-screen. Not a fan of cyano myself, nothing really gets finished and fully working, usually camera and video - not their fault but I prefer to have a fully working ROM.

I'm currently downloading the Rom you suggested and will see how it works.
Reading up on it sounds pretty stable
So will give feed back

Hi I tried installing Goo but it didn't have a recovery image file for my note N8000 what do you suggest?

Goo Manager wasn't able to find TWRP for me either. I just downloaded and installed it directly from here:

Thanks for that but what I ended up doing after trying to instLl Rom and using cwm and I used the note 2 recovery settings
Well really bad idea. So what happen ws that the note decided to not boot properly. So I had to download recovery cwm recovery. And use Odin to install it on note. Then viola it work. I back up rom and install the rom

Hi which ROM did you tried for the redemption? Anyways after a few days I am starting to miss the Samsung spen apps and the peel app which is not working on my note .

Mate, now you've installed CWM, do yourself a favour. Look for the app on here called triangle away. It will reset your flash counter....
I have a Nexus 4 running on 4.4.2 update base ROM. I've unlocked and rooted my phone, with multiple root tests to be sure. I've also downloaded the Franco kernel. Though its not working, so I assume its cause its a nightly version. From the information I've found those don't always work.
Back to my question though. My devices is a Mako, which goes along with being a Nexus 4 right. So why is it when I downloaded the cyanogenmod mako latest ROM it didn't work? Came up with an error comparing device and product as being mako, and some status 7 thing. I did a restore and now I'm here.
I've tried to install it view clockwork recovery, and from the ROM manager app. Both came up with those errors. Am I doing something wrong?

It looks like you don't have the latest version of cwm on you're phone. Try updating you're CWM to the newest version. Or install twrp recovery ( newest version and try again.
Be warned if you install twrp recovery then you're backup made in cwm recovery wont work should you wish to use it.
Below is a screen shot showing you're problem.

Thanks. I updated clockwork and it worked perfectly. Though its extremely annoying that I don't get my apps and data and all that I would normally get when doing a regular Google based ROM. Is there a way to get all that with custom ROMs? Do I just need to do a flash of Google play store or something?

If you flash Gapps immediately after flashing the ROM, it should give you the options to download your apps and system settings during initial setup, if that's what you're asking.

You need to flash gapps package for google apps like playstore, gmail..etc. Link are often given together in the OP of the rom thread.
Excellent. Thank you all. I'll be sure to keep an eye out for those! You've all been a great help.

One more question. Kernels. I know some are ment purely for custom ROMs. But is there a place I can get Kernels for a stock ROM? I haven't decided on a custom ROM yet, but I'd like to tweak this one as much as I can before.

They support both, the exception being with CM kernels.

Hello all. I recently tried flashing the new Hellfire KitKat weekly on my D803, I wiped everything as it should be done, but while the zip was installing, it stopped, then said status 7 error. I read a few places that that means it's an incompatible ROM, but I am 100% sure I downloaded the right one. I've tried both with TWRP 2.6.3.4 and PhilZ Touch CWM. Am I doing something wrong?
Check the build prop and check and see it is correct rom.

Sorry, been a bit busy. Just checked now, and yes, it is the correct one.
Same issue here, D803
Waiting patiently while someone sheds some light about this problem
