RAM left indicator difference in aero control and apps menu - Defy Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Thanks blech0dse for aero control. Could any one please elaborate the difference between total memory shown in aero control and RAM left in apps menu?
I see aero control reporting 26mb free while apps menu is showing some 228mb free RAM
P. S. I don't have permission to post in aero control thread, so posting here.

The amount shown in Aero Control is the true free (unused) ram; the "free" ram shown in apps menu includes ram used by cached processes.

The indetermination process. ?! Like in physics you can't measure accurate a process w/o altering it.

[Q] Noob question about Apps and battery life.

I've got launcher pro running with 7 homescreens, at least 2 of which are nothing but shortcuts to Apps that I want to get to quicker then scrolling through everything in the App Drawer.
Do these shortcuts cause processes to start and eat up battery? Looking in the currently running menu under applications there seems to be a mess of things in there that I didn't start.
And if we shouldn't be dropping all these shortcuts on the home screens, is there a way to better segment the App Drawer so it's not just a huge alphabetical list of apps?
Thanks!
Can any of the resident big brains help clear this up? Thanks!

Which Task Killer was I using? Help me find it!

Hey all,
I was using a task killer with a desktop shortcut or widget(im not sure but it was a big square icon). When you click the icon it says "Ending all tasks"
I upgraded to 2.2 and lost the apps.
Anyone know which task killer this is? It always gave me 200+mb of free memory.
Advaced task killer?

more columns and rows on the home

hello all
have a look at the attached screenshot. i decreased the screensize (smaller). now i can just use the space like for the standard screensize. i tried some apps already but with no app i can use the full space
i prefer have rather 1 home screen with all what i want as having 5 home screens
any hints so far
thanks
Try Launcher Pro from the app store to change from the default home launcher...in the options you can specify how many columns and rows your home screen(s) have, so that you can fill up all that unused space with icons if you wish.
You can't fill it because the launcher doesn't think they're there. The stock launcher is 5x5. Decreasing the density doesn't give you more rows&columns.

hello ovigt
thank you for the name of the software.
i will try it
i found awd launcher yesterday. and it fulfill the wishes
as you can see in the screen 8x6 icons. if i place a bigger icon (like the watch - 2 icon size) it still allow me to put some next to it.
do they have a trial version ?
i mean - the 1.8 are not the problem - if that tool is what i am looking for. it needs to be smooth with movements, not a battery killer and easy to handle.
thank you

Extra space. Apex launcher

Anyone know why I have more extra space and how can I utilize our for apps ? Currently it only lets me use the section where the blue dots are. I tried different grid sizes. Also, any recommendations for grid size?
Thanks
Try this
Apex settings> homescreen settings> change horizontal margin and vertical margin to None
