I was wondering what is the big change from 4.3 to 4.4.2 and is it worth it to update now? and also I'm afraid to lose lots of customization that I have with Xposed.

sorry for n00b question guys... i receently updated to 4.3 on my I9500 S4 with out any problems everything is booted up and smooth
but why does the selinux state enforcing? what does it mean? should i be worried? or just ignore it?
Thanks!
Nope
There's no point in worrying now - you can't go back! There currently is no way of downgrading from firmware 4.3 as Samsung have locked the bootloader with that update. If you're happy with that and don't miss any of the 4.2.2 features, then it won't be a problem for you.

im not bothered about that but what if there is a new 4.3 update with more changes i can always update that yea? and will it always be on 'ENFORCING' now?
so all 4.3 updates are set to enforcing?
Would also really like to know. Read over in other forums you can change it back to permissive and I'm guessing you need root for this and a little more so a bit out of my comfort zone with beyond root, so is it gonna be a problem down the line?
Hi guys,
First time poster to the forum.
I am currently on a i9500 international s4 with the stock rooted 4.2.2 rom using the latest perseus kernel to overclock to 1.7ghz. If I upgrade to 4.3 with the samsung roll out will it cause any problems and will I have to reroot?

no problem with upgrading to 4.3, you need to reroot after if you want
Wouldn't recommend it unless you want a knox bootloader.

No, you can't go back. So unless you don't want to root and or flash custom roms, stay away from the official firmware.

You can flash the factory images. Or a custom rom with has been updated to 4.4.2.
Answering your question. NO. You dont need every little update. Most people dont even notice it. Heck , I'm still using 4.3

Thanks for the response mate.
My question is if its even possible to maintain the root access through the update process.
I've heared once of OTA root keeper or something alike ...

Question is, is there something you need in 4.4.2 and not got it in 4.3? When not I would stay on 4.3.
Some changes in KitKat are the lower RAM, better Battery (a lot better), some security things and a lot of other changes in the background
is there a changelog for 4.4.2 somewhere?

Sorry mate ,
Samsung only gives a changelog number , no a changelog list.......the higher the number the higher the change

Who doesn't need a better battery?
I have the same question weather or not to update
but I'm hesitant because some people say their battery life got worse!
How much better is the better?

Yes but this are all small changes. The permission of writing to SD Card is also a bit different. But I would upgrade
I didn't felt any better battery drain after upgrading to 4.4.2.
Unfortunately, after upgrading to Kitkat I experienced a lot of problems in the camera and screen.
Now I'm using custom rom and developer options to solve these problems.
BTW, my device is I9500.

Yes I rooted it. I installed custom recovery, philz touch recovery, and than it autochecks if you got root when you leave it, so you have to apply or not if you want it or not.
doing this you tripped knox, isnt 'it?

Exatly it tripped the f***** Knox, but I wont use the Knox app so it isn't a problem. My garanty is also over so there is no point not to do it that way. Towelroot don't tripps knox, but the in the newer firmwares towelroot don't work anymore
Hi fellas,
Just got my note 3.. lately for sure.. but anyway..
My question is, it came with JB 4.3 and still v*rg*n I mean not root so far.. I wonder if is there any advantage in to keep JB 4.3 and root it or upgrade to the latest 4.4.2?
It worth to go forward and upgrade before root?
Thanks

IMHO 4.3 works very nice and there is no real advantage from 4.4.
If you have the AT&T version which is bootloader-locked even more so - 4.3 can be easier rooted.

You will not trip it as long as you know what to do - just use towelroot and for start DO NOT try to install a custom recovery / kernel / ROM. Also pay attention to the specific version of Note 3 that you have - if you have the AT&T version YOU ARE IN THE WRONG FORUM!
