Hey i didnt mark it as a question

For normal battery use you can expect 3-5 hours screen on time, tweaking kernel etc varies depending on what you use your note for.
Debloat and uninstall apps you don't use, turn off NFC/Location etc. That's about it really.

Normal screen on time for me is always 6-7:30 hrs after removing bloatwares and turnoff some smart features,GPS turn off,WiFi turnoff. Using SetCPU with some profiles.

Hey do you recommend any 4.4.2 kernel

Kernels are trial and error, you have to try them and play around with the settings. No one kernel is recommended.

Hi all as we all know there has been plenty of discussion regarding SGS3 battery life. I class myself as a heavy user and was pulling my hair out with my battery needing to be charged by EARLY afternoion...
I tried reinstalling and doing full whipes did nt change my battery life so after extensive reading and tweaking this is what i have done and it has really improved my battery to the point that the afternoon charge is no longer and i can now get up to 13 hours without charge
Im rooted XXXKLC JB Sammy Rom 4.1.2
Now tested on XXELL4 Sammy 4.1.2 stock rooted and works great still

13 hours of screen time?
Could you specified more before after difference of your battery life and usage? I really like to try these steps, thx.
Single biggest improvement in battery life is turning my mobile data off when I won't be using my phone, such as when I'm at work. I used to finish work at lunchtime with 50% battery left, now it's more like 70-80%.
Maybe I'm missing something with Android, but I can't see why there isn't a setting in mobile data to only have it activated when screen is on, just like wifi. This is essentially what juice defender does (I know it has plenty more options), but it should be built in already, imho.

Well actually the best setting is to keep data on always otherwise it will defeat the purpose of having a smartphone.
But keep wifi off when screen is off.
If you turn off wifi and data when screen off then why do you even need to keep data on in the first place. Because when you turn on your screen wifi will be on and available and so don't need data.

I tried the ultimate or pro version. It was good for a while but then I rooted and flashed a few roms.
I then uninstalled it and tried to compare the difference and I concluded it wasn't saving much battery.
To each his own.

I agree the mobile data eats battery.
Try go into setting > more settings > mobile networks > network mode - try using only GSM when you dont need fast internet (for me this allows EDGE data connectivity) instead of auto because I think the phone will automatically try find 3G connectivity. When you need faster internet (for youtube) then you go to auto mode or WCDMA only.
This itself has proven to save a bit of battery.

Samsung Galaxy S3 *AWESOME STOCK BATTERY LIFE*

THIS THREAD WAS INSPIRED BY MOST OFF YOU WHO ARE TRYING TO GET MAXIMUM BATTERY LIFE WITH SOME CUSTOM ROMS.
Before Galaxy S3, I had Galaxy S2 which battery wasn't soo good. I was always searching for battery friendly roms and I was flashing one or two roms every day.After every custom rom I was thought like that: Why I done that, when every stock firmware gives better result(battery life and performance) then any custom rom. I know that there are some excellent custom roms, for me ,these are STOCK LOOK roms with bloatware deleted and some unused apps. But, we don't need to flash them when we can do that alone.
NOW,I HAVE GALAXY S3 :
Let's see my result on stock battery,stock rom (4.1.2 , DDELK1,XXELLC), and with some apps turned off in application manager,battery saving is turned on just for color of backoground,nothing else.That was heavy usage,I installed that firmware updated, all appps that I am using , and charged it. Viber,WhatsApp,Instagram,Sync,Wifi,3G,Facebook,Gmail, are always ON.
Results:
4h of screen on,phone was used(wasn't just screen on) , 52% battery left. I lose about 3-4% maximum during the night ( 7-8 hours) with wifi on.
See this on attachments.
Mostly ,my battery lasts for 2 days, I achieve min. 5,5 hours screen on in every charge with hd gaming,facebook,gmail,whatsapp,viber, about 40min-1h talk in 3g every day.
My tips for battery life improvement are:
-Turn the Energy saving(I turned it on just for background color i vibration,if you turn on full battery saving you will get much better result, but it seems to slow and laggy)
-Turn off apps that you aren't using in app manager( Settings,Application Manager,All > than find apps which are unusal for you. I turned off : All yahoo apps,samsung suggest,google +,flipboard,dual clock,chat on ,all samsung hubs because they doesnt work in my country, google maps(I use google earth).)
That's all. Enjoy that battery,that performance and that beauty of stock rom

Hi Guys,
This is actually my 1st post, but I was looking around xda for couple of months now.
I am using stock rooted XXELLA with Siyah kernel. I can make my phone last easily for 2 days, with 2g mostly on, disabled lots of unused apps, lowest brightness, sync off, etc. and UC to 1200 mhz. I'm using pegasusq gov and noop scheduler.
But I can't imagine 4 hours screen on and get 52% battery left, or get 7,5 hrs totally. I always monitor the usage with BetterBatteryStats and when the screen is off I can even get about 4-6 hrs / 1%. But I can't reach >5,5-6 hrs screen on. Any suggestions? Do you think I can lower the min. brightness in build.prop?
Btw, I think if you share your battery stats, it would be nice if you also share your governor/scheduler and OC/UV values.

I don't think it would make any difference, since I have only few apps, I don't like putting garbage to my phone Could you maybe share kernel and partial wakelocks from BBS, maybe cpu states too?
And again about the 4h screen / 52% left - how did you use the phone? I can see no games, so only web surf etc?
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
Everyone uses their phone differently so comparing battery life is not possible, someone who demands smooth scrolling and instant response is not going to get 2 days use or more than 4hr screen on time.
Personally I'm not worried by stutters or lag, I'd rather get 9hr screen on time over 48hr up time - this is with a super lite ROM, I have all the bell and whistles turned off and all power saving options on, as close to AOSP as a stock based ROM can get.
I'm very happy with this phone, compared to my old htc sensation I no longer worry about battery life, I have two batteries which get swapped over between phone and desk charger every two days, unless playing games when I only get 1 day life.

Hey op, sorry to say this but you might be wrong. For battery life it depends on kernels and tweaks rather than on roms. Roms are actually just themed/stock themed firmwares with additional apps/removed apps and pre-installed tweaks and kernels. Most roms use v6 supercharger tweak. For me I use phenomenal kernel which has undervolted and underclocked gpu and cpu. But if you want more options with oc/uv try boeffla kernel where there"s an app included that allows you to over/underclock you gpu and cpu. By underclocking, it will save more battery. My ohone lasted about 12+ hours of continuous use of my phone (gaming, watching videos) with the kernels I use

I have had over 8 hours of screen time, but that was literally not using phone just leaving screen on with videos playing for a lot of the time, but everyday usage using the Xperia Rom I get about 5 hours. I charge every night so don't need 2 day 3 day usage etc, unless my plane crashes onto a deserted island where I have to survive with no form of electricity anywhere.

Squeezing out as much battery life as possible.

Hi.
After a week with my N10 I am finding that battery life decent, but I was wondering if there is anything else I could do that would give me a little bit more juice.
At the moment I have:
* Reduced brightness to about 30% (Auto is too low for me).
* Turned off any sync services I don't need (Currents, Magazines, Movies etc)
* Turned off hepatic feedback and touch sounds.
* Turned off location access.
* Turned off tailored Google ads.
* Turned off NFC
I also put the N10 into aeroplane mode when not in use for extended periods of time.
I can get about 8 hours off a full charge.
Is there anything else I can be doing?
Cheers.

8 hours of screen time you mean? If so that's not bad at all. I usually get about 10 from 100-0 if I just web browse (I never let it go below 10%).
Other than what you've done, you can Dow load better battery stats to check and see if wake locks are in control (they sound like they are). Otherwise a custom ROM and kernel. light help you squeeze a bit more life out of it.
Having WiFi turn off during sleep helps.
Also a couple apps can squeeze some extra % out as well.
Greenify (requires root) works great, I suggest it.
Screen filter works good for night use, lowers the screen brightness below minimum,

In addition, if you root so you can underclock and / or select a more conservative CPU governor profile, you can really stretch it out a heck of a lot. Even though apps might request all that 1700 Mhz of power hungry CPU goodness, most of the time you can get by with no negative side effects on a much lower clock speed. For example, in-bound video streaming will peg out the CPUs at 1700Mhz, but streaming works perfectly well in most cases at 900Mhz or lower.
Good lord why don't you just turn it completely off! LOL Unless you are trying to hold the record for longest battery time how can you enjoy your tablet running it neutered like that? Without disabling any of that I can get 10 hours general use, 6-8 hours gaming. Don't need to mess with brightness or anything. All I avoid is using widgets of any kind.

I agree. Turning off lots of services makes the device pretty useless. Under-clocking and lowering brightness is the way to go and least obtrusive. Note that some games actually need the power hungry Mhz goodness, so your mileage may vary a bit there.
He's not turning off anything that limits the use of the tablet...
He's turning off sync on this he doesn't use, great idea.
He's turning it into airplane mode when he doesn't use it for long periods. Good idea to me, why would you want WiFi killing your battery when you don't need it?
He turned off location services? Seems like a fantastic idea to me, Google location is the #1 culprit of wakelocks on my device. Don't need it so I disabled it as well.

GAPPS free here. Excellent battery life.
Yeah, uh, other than brightness, none of that is going to make a big difference in battery life. Location access isn't going to drain battery if nothing is requesting your location in the first place. NFC consumes such a miniscule amount of power that it won't even make a percentage point difference.
I'd say to just enjoy your tablet as it is. 8 hours is perfectly good battery life and there's not a whole lot you can do to extend it besides getting an external battery pack. The internal battery is already a massive 9000 mAh.

* Turned off location access.
* Turned off tailored Google ads.
* Turned off NFC
I also put the N10 into aeroplane mode when not in use for extended periods of time.
I can get about 8 hours off a full charge.
Is there anything else I can be doing?
Cheers.

Out of curiosity, what Rom do you run to achieve 10 hrs for screen time? I'm always averaging 5-7 + 2-3 days before dropping to the 10 marker.
The biggest thing you can do is screen brightness. If you are already at as low as you can tolerate then there isnt much else that is worthwhile. Since everything else only brings very tiny amounts of savings in comparison.

My battery life and settings

This might be an ignorant post, not everyone is gonna have my usage patterns. I game, but this is more for people who use alot of social media, stream alot of videos, and browse alot of web. This isn't absolute, either. Tweak it, add your own flair to these settings and save even more power, or get a little more performance instead.
I was getting at most 3 hours of screen on time with the usage pattern detailed above, now I'm getting near 5 or more. My good friend gave me the base for these settings, and I adjusted as necessary.
The idea here is managing your processing power based on CPU load and getting back to idle frequency immediately after completing a task, beside lowering the frequency. I'm sorry in advance if this doesn't work for you, makes your device crash, or doesn't allow the performance you've come to expect from your Nexus. Backup beforehand, always.
OK, I'm running the Nexus6xshamu 2.2.0 rom and Franco r44 kernel with no other installed mods. I have a pebble time connected at all times and always have WiFi and cellular radios on, but not GPS. Grab kernel adiutor for this. I'll add links that explain these values and what adjustments will do which things for your device
First, you set maximum frequency to 1574mhz (I know it's low, this isn't a powerhouse group of settings) and your minimum frequency to 422mhz. Select the interactive governor and disable all input boost, period. (You can do that last if you want, to prevent any lag until you're done) Lower settings associated with input boost to 0. Disable sync threshold if it's not disabled already. Governor tune-ables are the most important part of this, but we'll come back to those.
Leave voltage and GPU settings at defaults, but you can tweak them too if it'll help your particular usage pattern. Under Screen settings, still in kernel Adiutor, aim for cooler colors, so you can have your brightness set a little lower and have it look pretty bright still. I keep mine at 70% or higher though. The "Franco" profile is a good place to start. I left I/O scheduler settings alone mostly, with a read ahead of 128kb. No special Wake settings either; that would drastically compromise standby time.
Do you like numbers? I've got a bunch of them here. These are the Interactive Governor Tuneables I use.
Above High-speed Delay: 39000
Align Windows: 1
Boost: 0
Boostpulse Duration: 80000
Go High-speed Load: 99
High-speed freq: 960000
IO is Busy: 0
Max Freq Hysteresis: 0
Min Sample Time: 30000
Target Loads: 64 422000:58 652000:12 729000:74 883000:8 960000:83 1036000:15 1190000:6 1267000:76 1497000:5 1574000:90
Timer Rate: 40000
Timer Slack:80000
OK, that was nuts right? Your device might be lagging a little, but that's OK in my opinion. What I did to help the occasional jitters was hop into Developer Settings and tick "Use GPU for 2d rendering" but I like to think a little lag is worth the battery life. Target loads basically tell the CPU "You can use any frequency less than xxxxxx until your load hits xx% then jump to xxxxxx frequency." If you like these settings but want a little more oomph at really high loads, then try adding 1728000:94 2265000:98 to the end of Target Loads and raise your max frequency to 2265mhz. You'll lose battery though, since the CPU voltage for these frequencies are alot higher.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3269557 There's some great info about this stuff in this thread if you wanna learn more about what you're doing here.
I'd like to add that I owe all of this info to my good pal (who owns a Nexus 5x) who taught me about governor tweaks. Also, please forgive me if:
This is stupid
This is common knowledge
I clearly don't know what I'm talking about
Or you inherently dislike me
Thank you for your time.
Here is a screen of battery life I get after watching YouTube for hours at 2k resolution, or at 1080p60 when available. Using the above settings of course.
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Lastly, for real this is the last thing I have to say, I like to lower my resolution to 1080p sometimes to ease load on the GPU, which can reduce lag and save a little battery. Be careful about doing this, entering typos or weird values can make your life a living hell. How to do it is simple. Get a terminal emulator (I use termux) and enter these commands (don't enter stuff in parentheses)
su (to get root access)
wm size 1080x1920 (everything is going to look really bad after this, but the next command will fix it)
wm density 420
Remember to enter these commands one by one.
Then reboot, even if it immediately soft reboots. This will persist through reboots, but not ROM changes. To go back to normal, in case it breaks an app you like,enter these commands:
su
wm size reset
wm density reset

I'm the one that's not going to be posting "nice".. instead, I'm going to post that I get from 5-6h sot every day doing nothing that you posted at all. I live in NYC, so my signal quality is amazing, and it doesn't lower my battery life, like most users. AND, I tend to keep my brightness lower than 10%, which also helps immensely.
Lowering the screen resolution will not save battery and if memory serves me correct, applications use 2d rendering by default.
A black theme would save more battery.

your screen uses the most battery, period. lowering screen brightness will raise battery life. for every 35% that i personally raise the brightness by 35%, i lose one hour of sot.

It's more to improve performance without doing anything that requires higher frequencies. While it does help battery, the help there is minimal at best.
Lowering your resolution does NOT turn off any pixels. All 4.5 million of those pixels that make up your screen are still firing. Your GPU doesn't have to work as hard though, same goes for your CPU when it's the one pushing those pixels around.

You're clearly one of the lucky ones then. I'd kill for my Nexus to get that kind of SOT. And no doubt there are tons of people that DO get 5-6 hours, but there are also undeniably people who get only 2.5 to 3.5 at best. I was one of them, and this is what I had to do to fix it.

In my experience every phone is different. Some people can get incredible battery by doing absolutely nothing and some struggle to hit 4 hours of sot. This is aimed towards those having problems, that need to tweak to get the most out of their phone. I know that is subjective and is based on usage patterns, signal strength and apps installed. This isn't for people getting 5-6 hours sot. So thank you OP for trying to help people get the most out of their batteries.

Uninstalling FB official app (indirectly) gives me 6-7 SOT, because that app is just a resource hog.
but its nice to see that others are experimenting to find the best for them and sharing their experience.
For me, i could care less about how long my phone last because i have chargers everywhere, work, car, home, and also a 13000 mhA battery pack in my back pack. so my device isnt customized at all besides default settings in PureNexus and Elite kernel. But to each their own.

Will turning off notifications for the Facebook app help instead of uninstalling the app? I do not see Facebook consuming lot of better in the battery stats.
