Hello,
I am following Galaxy Grand Android Development thread closely and would like to ask few questions..
1) Is it necessary to Full wipe/Factory Reset via CWM before flashing any new Custom ROM?? If yes, then how do you restore all the apps+data while switching between ROMs (apart from using Titanium Backup)?
2) Is it worth flashing a Custom Kernel??(I mean when I read the follow up comments in their post, it makes me feel that they are not quite stable.I need my Grand to be lag and bug free for above-medium usage i.e not a performance powerhouse)
3) How to backup stock kernel?(I've already backed up my ROM+Data via CWM)
4) How much time do you think it would take Dual SIM functionality to hit KitKat? I agree developers are working hard but I am waiting anxiously for it and it is the main thing which is keeping me away from flashing Carbon Rom.Can't the Dual SIM code be copied from stock 4.2.2 ROM (Just wondering)?
5) Lastly, suggest some tweaks for a Rooted Stock Rom...I've already removed bloatwares and installed Greenify to hibernate memory consuming apps..
Thanks

1. It is not damn compulsory bro but still its better..(sometimes you come from one aosp rom to another, and things don't function properly if they contradict)...so its better....just do..
there is another app too to backup normal apps if u want...
Which i think don't require root..just search on play store u will get it!!
2. In date ..i personally dont as there are stability issues.. Try if u want and dont face any bugs...
3.when u backup a rom..kernel is also backed up with it..
Restoring makes u restore kernel too..(if u install a messed up kernel).
4.it will take time bro...there is no fix date they have given.so all we can do is keep patience..it requires few codes from broadcomm ..but it hasn't released its codes so it is difficult to...still..lets hope..
Stock stuff cant be applied for AOSP in this case..else they would have...even if its possible..its like hell of work...they might be working on it..
5.i better would suggest u go for gennxt rom (it is fully amazingly tweaked stock rom with many features)..it got double battery life...many say best battery life...
If u okay with stock rom ram consumption... This gennxt wont make u regret..
Just give it a try..(thanks to balliboxer )....
Hope i helped

Apart from what raghavsharmaxda already said,
Custom kernels have a lot of features that you might want to consider once they are added. For example things like custom governors, schedulers, BLN extra. There's a lot that can be done with the kernels including adding/editing system settings for better performance, but might be a while for us.
The stock kernel is always available in the zip you flash for the ROM. Simply unzip the ROM you are on, extract the boot.img. That's the stock kernel. If you want to flash it with Odin (PDA), you can simply pack in a tar file.
To do that, follow the steps:
1. Extract and put the boot.img and put it on sdcard0 (default internal memory)
2. Open terminal, and follow the steps in the screenshot

Alternatively, head over to k2wl's thread and try step 7 or step 8 with the boot.img - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2583732
Regarding Dual SIM, since KitKat is very new and just simple alterations to the Graphics UI is taking months because of the code change, I highly doubt dual sim will be available anytime soon (if at all because of the closed source broadcomm drivers).
Tweaks - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2476926
work better with AOSP but should work well for stock as well
Thanks for additional information..

Quiet
I notice both these roms the call volume is a fair bit quieter than my original australian version.
Mucked about with audiofilter.csv .... couldn't get it any louder.
Which is a bummer really as everything else is great - I need it fairly loud as I work in a noisy area.
Anyone got any ideas on how to make it as loud as the stock version?

This rom is not that good, it's really buggy, runs slow true the screens, and if you put a custom launcher then its way to buggy.
I'm a to release a rom based on Yoigo original rom with oc kernet that run very fast an stable. IM'm testing it now to see if every thing is working.
The rom will be clena and fast, withe the accent to speed and stability. Ext an swap included. It runs Angry Birs 2 time faster than the iphone 3gs.
will see...
gvpula: it's true.. elitemovil have more bugs.. i tested elitemovil few days and i go back to ZAD 1.5
yes i know i tested it all, for a week each and so far zad is the best,but... The GGR that I'm working on, it will be even better, the ROM will be posted as soon as is properly tested!
Let us know when and where is available so we can test it.

It will be posted here.
I expect it will be next week!
can't wait 4 it...hope that rom is good and faster...what the maximum number for overclocking 4 this rom?
it has the same OC kernel as the ZAD Rom but it has ext/swap and few other tweaks, must say that Zad did a good work with OC the kernel but has few leaks in the rom itself.
thanks dude...do u have your own website or blog so i can update your information about this rom??

Install guide
This is the install guide from OP:
1. Need the FlashTool
2. In order to use it 100% we will have to install the module and its respective DoomKernel WIFI (I recommend the medium OVERCLOCK VERSION)
3. Copy kernel to firmware folder FlashTool Into one and flash.
4. We went into recovery mode (XRECOVERY) and select Full wipe, wipe cache, then in advanced, battery stats and wipe Dalvik-cache
5. We got the ROM, we had to SD card and installed it on XRECOVERY (Zip Custom Install -> Select Custom ZIP ---> and select the ROM)
6. Reboot, wait 5 minutes and started in XRECOVERY and we FIX PERMISSIONS
7. Reboot again and enjoy the ROM
I have some question:
1) What is the module and its respective DoomKenel WIFI?
I found the DoomKernel v06-1113 [medium OVERCLOCK VERSION
v06-1113 [medium OVERCLOCK VERSION] ( min/max: 128Mhz/1113Mhz )
(to be flashed via xRecovery)
Is it the right one?
This one is flashed via Xrecovery. So can I flash it instead of using FlashTool?
If I can is it flashed before or after installing the ROM?
Thanks.
U rom is sometimes laggy.

Rom is without lag, great job, but have two little problem , music and wifi error ( even flash stock kernal or fix permission didnt help ) anyway thanks a lot )

Hello,
tomorrow I will get LG G2 D802 International version 16 GB and have few basic qestion
1. Do I need root to put CyanogenMod 11 ?
2. Which recovery should I use to flash costum rom? I see TWRP, CWM and philz. Can I just download one of these from google play or have to install from .img file?
3. Is bootloader factory unlocked in d802 international version or should I do something to be able to root my phone?
4. Should I do a backup (EFS folder?) my original stock room with all detalis (IMEI etc.) or could i really use LG link update with put original IMEI at the end of this link
HTML:
csmg.lgmobile.com:9002/csmg/b...heck2.jsp?esn=
If need to backup, then how? I mean when i will need to use my warranty
5. What is Xposed for G2?
6. Which gapps should I install for cm-11-20140405-SNAPSHOT-M5-d802 it's 4.4.2 or 4.4?
7. What is diffrence between TWRP image version install and version from google play?
8. it would be beneficial to install a different kernel in cyanogenmod than original one?
9. Im looking for fastest camera app (I used iPhone 4 before and camera was pretty fast, about 3 pics per second and i really love it) speed is more important than quality. [speed > quality]
10. How could I root and install recovery to put costum rom when I get my G2 and android 4.4.2 KK will be installed? should i downgrade to 4.2.2 ore something else?
11. I heard that camera lens is susceptible to scratches, how can I protect it (I dont like any cases, I ve never used any) Maybe foil or something? I'm looking for something that does not affect the optimal image quality
sorry for english btw.
THANKS FOR HELP
feeling
1. Yes.
2. Your choice.
3. No, it is locked.
4. I didn't but it is advised.
5. It is an app full of Xposed framework tweaks to go along with the Xposed framework.
6. 4.4.2.
7. No difference in terms of the recovery, just a different install method.
8. it depends on what you want a custom kernel for, overclocking etc. The CM11 kernel is stable.
9. The stock LG camera app is pretty speedy imo, but so is the stock CM11 camera app.
10. If it comes pre installed with 4.4.2 (which it shouldn't at this time) you can either downgrade to 4.2.2 or wait for a root and recovery install for 4.4.2.
11. I've had mine months without a case and i don't nave any scratches.
You are supposed to read the forum. Your thread is about you being too lazy to do some work for yourself.
Thanks for all your help, I have already got my LG G2 and with CyanogenMod it works great and smooth! Didnt like this ugly LG stock ROM.
But now I can report few issues with CyanogenMod 11 M5 version for my D802
Sometimes I got Trebuchet suspended, it looks like here: [to fix it I need to settings > homescreen > search bar > deselect and select again]

Second issue is that in quick settings is not in the middle and i have space from the right which looks not good ( I know this is a small detail but in CM 10 worked good).
Third issue is probems with bluetooth, when i turned it on and off and again on, bluetooth was not able to start and resulting suspended.
Also had some problems with transfer files from my laptop to G2 by MTP USB cable [Windows 7 x64] Many many times transfer just stopped at copying]

That's kind of mean. It looks like he already did a lot of research as he's asking the right questions, it looks like he just needs some reassurance/confirmation as to what his idea of the process is correct. He asked in the right section too, so not too bad.
As for OP, I can't comment on your CM11 questions as I use SlimKat personally, but I have the same issue with transferring files where it looks like it just stops and hangs. Weird thing is, it actually still transfers the file correctly even though it hangs and you have to close it. Just leave it be and wait for it to close.
I was trying to transfer a new ROM and it hanged, but upon checking the MD5 it looks like it fully transferred. Enjoy your new G2!

I had a problem with the buttons when a change the rom from Galaxy S5 G900
because g900 there is no preseed back button and menu button
home button only works because both models have pressed
after several hours of different combinations I came to solve the problem
Install ROM complies with the letter of your phone model
if you have g870F is a need to install rom with g900F not 900A or another model, otherwise you can lose your IMEI and network signal
First your must FULL backup your ORYGINAL S5 ACTIVE rom via TWRP or CW
Then do wipe before installing rom Galaxy S5 G900 (not active)
Install zip your new custom rom g900
after installation, do not reboot your phone !!!!
in TWRP, select the Restore menu
Select partition to restore
select ONLY BOOT

}
Then swipe restore
and reboot the system
now preseed back button and menu button should work
only one bug key activity does not work because s5 g900 does not have such a key
Hit "thanks" if you find it helpful. ā
Does not work on my G870F. Did that and all I got after reboot is Samsung-logo and nothing after that.
I tried to install CM13 and CM12 with same results. Rom installs just fine, but back- and menu-buttons doesn't work. Any ideas?

I work, do not do according to my instructions.
my method works with stock rom
per cm will not work and I will not translate so because as you change the rom you should know .
Good advice - if you do not feed a clue about it, is not taken for that because damage the device.

I'll explain more... At the moment I have rooted stock rom installed (SM-G870F, 5.0, G870FXXU1BOB4). I took full backup with TWRP.
I made full format to phone (format, factory reset, caches,...) in TWRP. Installed CM13 (G900F-version). Rebooted => Starts fine, looks fine, everything is fine except back- and menu-buttons.
Back to TWRP, Full format..., installed CM13, restored BOOT from backup, rebooted => Phone hangs in startup.

After year struggling with stock rom, you helped me to move on and I might stick with this phone a bit longer. HUGE THANX!

I had to re-flash Phoenix, but now everything runs smoothly and Nova stays as default Launcher. I used Nova-settings to make it default launcher, I used your tip, but nothing worked Nova was working nicely when I changed to it, but every time i rebooted the phone, TouchWiz was active launcher. Then I wiped the phone and flashed Phoenix with modified TouchWiz (first time I used stock TouchWiz) and now Nova stays as default launcher even if I reboot the phone. Don't know was it just a clitch in first flash or could it be case with modified vs stock TouchWiz, but it works now
Abd Phoenix seems awesome so far, battery life is better and you can modify your phone. Thx once again @davidof
Hi im tryin to install phoenix rom v12 on my g870f butit wont flash do i need to do something special ?
OTA won't work, I downloaded the ROM manually and flashed it, but it keeps stuck at boot logo, aparently Phoenix v12 won't work on G-870F
If anyone has a workaround that would be awesome, would love to finally have a cool Marshmallow ROM on our beloved S5 Active
I'd be interested to know if only phoenix 10.5 works...or can it be newer?
Phoenix V11.0 XXU1BPA2 works fine for me, but I'm hoping to get V12.5 to work, so if anyone has found a way
Hello everyone
I have been enjoying my phone for a while along with my old S6 which had a ton of mods.
Ever since I sold my old phone, I can't help but miss features like viper4android and other magisk goodies that I used to have.
After the pie update which broke the bluetooth function I downgraded my phone back to oreo using odin and original fw.
I have been looking for a complete way to install a custom recovery (twrp) and use the phone with custom roms, but i have not found any complete guide yet.
Can someone point me to a existing guide or just tell me what files I have to use.

Hey. Its not that hard and you already know the process. Go and try renovation ice . I am using it from a month and nothings better then it . The speed, the battery timing and tweaks are all amazing. https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga...ovate-ice-g950-g955-android-7-0-aqdg-t3598040
For installing a custom rom you need a custom recovery so flash twrp using odin .https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s8/how-to/guide-how-to-install-twrp-root-galaxy-t3752480
And While flashing renovation ice dont remove your system apps and dont do tweaks while flashing renovation ice there will be options for tweaks and removing apps but dont use them because when i did that my phone just bootloop and the next time i tried to flash it without using any advance options and then it was successful. On the first boot it may be slow or dont boot dont do anything let id do that wait and then it be all fine . I hope may this helps you and the rom is already rooted with magisk if not then tell me . I give you the link to flash super su .
Stay blessed?

Thank you for the response. I already flashed hadesrom. I knew the process, had several samsung's before and older phones as well, I was only unsure about the rmm issues and did not want to lock my bootloader.
