i see in other GS4 like tmobile that they have TW roms that are coming with Multi-Carrier Support
where is ours?
shouldnt we have this by now in a touch wiz rom?
now i got to go try their rom and re-flash the kernel and modem with a sprint one just to try their rom with multi-carrier support
no wonder these forums are slowing down
That last part about development slowing down is disrespectful. Well I should say some devs might find that disrespectful.
Sprint has always been the hardest to convert in the multi carrier. Since the GS3.

If you want multi carrier so bad, learn how to develop so you can do it yourself.
Until then, don't come around here and ***** about the quality of the developers here. They all have lives outside of xda and will get to it when they get to it.

Hey guys im a brand new s4 owner, and band new to sprint. I have a question, and in no way do I mean this as in insult to any devs or anyone else for that matter. But seeing as to how we on sprint have the only s4 variant that has an unlocked bootloader, development seems like it's really slow paced right now. I know it's relatively early in the s4s life, but with it being such a huge release, I would have thought development would be exploding, like with the htc one. Is there something keeping development from flourishing?
There's a few rooted debloated stock roms plus a couple custom kernels already to hold you over.
Plus, good things come to those who wait. I have a feeling development on this phone will explode shortly.

Yep. Just wait a bit.
It seems like every new phone that comes out takes a month or two before development explodes.
Plus. I think we're still waiting on kernel source, which can hold things back as well.
Give it 2-3 months and you'll have too many roms to choose from.

I agree with you. Patience is needed in these times as it takes time and majority of the devs do this on their free time. Curiosity did kill the cat you know which is bad and scares the devs away lol.
We are not the only ones with a unlocked bootloader.

Yes t-mobile is and AT&T has been unlocked although it isn't really available to the public yet.
I wonder how hard it would be to port other s4 variant roms to sprint? like t mobile, I see they have a bunch of custom roms and kernels already in their Android development section
Wanted to check in and see what others thought in regards to best ROM out there for Galaxy S4
This all depends on what YOU like. I may like something that you don't. So its all dependent on what your looking for in a ROM and what things you like and don't like. Colors and bloat ware and mods and things like that make each ROM different.
Sent from my SGS4. Go Blue!! Buck the Fuc keyes!!
Flash Roms that attract you and find out.

Stock. Yes, really. From my experience with the S3, all custom ROMs and kernels made the performance and battery life far worse. And some of the color schemes the devs use are very unappealing. Just root the stock ROM and enjoy the performance and stability as Samsung intended it to be. Your phone is a device that shopuld work for you, not the other way around.

So I am starting a project called Cyality ROM and would like to know if any DEV's want to collab on this for shared and equal credit? The word "cytality" stands for cyber vitality, and in and of itself is implying that this ROM will have a long life in our community. Which is what I'm striving for.
The thing that sucks for me is that I'm a noob and can't find or develop my own base to work from. There are other stripped down TW roms out there I can use, but there's a lot of custom stuff from other devs I don't want.
So I was wondering if a seasoned DEV could do me a big, big favor and provide me with a stripped TW MDL base ROM I can build up and work with. This person will obviously get credit, but I need it stripped. I don't want anyone else's custom apps or settings in it as I want to add my own. I'd like to retain the Samsung features at first, like AirView and all that, but everything else can be removed from it.
I've already searched the forums for something like this and the closest thing I could find was SlimBean, which is nice but it's not a TW rom and it's loaded with custom settings from the devs that I don't want.
Since I'm a graphics designer not a programmer, I want to make a rom that is visually stunning to look at while still maintaining performance. I'm going to incorporate Buzz in it by default and a minimalistic theme that will be gorgeous. I already got approval to use ROMDB for beta so the ROM will have auto updating features, community alerts, etc.
So yea.. if anyone could do this for me I'd greatly appreciate it, and this person will get full credit for their contribution. Thanks!
This is pretty awesome. I can find you a base. I would use the newest Brazilian firmware. Unless you are building for a US carrier. In which I would use the latest M919V fiware that came out today

I'm on the Sprint variant, so it's the MF9 update which is the latest. That's what I'll be developing for initially as I have no other means to test other than on my own device.

I just pushed an alpha version of my CytalityROM. Not publicly, however.
If I figure out how to convert it to your variant then I'll share the link. I just gotta do a few more things to it.

Depends as all roms are created different. Seeing how there is only ONE rom creator thus far for this device and he specifically says ATT working ONLY, i would say the one and ONLY custom rom out now will ONLY work on ATT. Now IF a rom dev creates a rom that WILL WORK on t-mobile, i'm sure they will make that very clear.
Now if your are asking very generally, yes it's possible. Given this device is barely out for a week now and we already have Root, Custom Recovery, and a Custom Rom dev, be sure T-Mobile varient will sure get love soon my friend . Just read the custom rom's thread that you are interested in and don't bug the creator to make it workable with t-mobile, that will just annoy the hell out of them like it would anyone else. Everyone knows this device is on many carriers so IF devs want to jump on this device, you will see your t-mobile rom soon, just not today or now .
I was on SACS ROM but it wasn't compatible much with ktoonsez kernel.
I went to cyanogenmod and I'm getting 4 hours screen time with ktoonsez, however I like the features of touchwiz and I liked the ui a bit more (when using s5 themed ROMs, I despise old touchwiz),
So I'm looking for a smooth touchwiz ROM android 4.4.2 that is compatible with ktoonsez kernel
I'm currently on NAE modem

Recommendation threads always get shut down because people begin to say "so and so" ROM is the smoothest or the best. When the fact is there is no best ROM. Try out the other TW Roms that catch your attention and if you don't like it you can restore an older ROM you liked.

Ugh I hope it doesn't, I know there isn't a best ROM, just the fact is that I only found negalite, pacman, sac, and cyanogenmod, and I don't like all of them but I did like sacs, it just had a lot of bugs

XDA is a development site not a support site. As such members are expected to do the research, read through the development threads and decide what is BEST for them. The only results that would be posted here are what each member has found to be BEST for them by experimentation based on their phone/usage/setup/apps/signal strength. Please take the time to read through those development threads to learn all about the software you are about to drastically alter your very expensive device with.
Sorry for the inconvenience and thank you for your cooperation.
