1) Does anyone have this same problem below?
2) Does anyone know how I might be able to fix it?
I have a problem that has started to occur over the past couple of weeks. The "System Volume" becomes muted and inaccessible. When I go into settings (as shown below), the slider is at far left (zero level), and it is greyed-out, so that I can not control it.
Settings ^ Sound ^ Volume
- Music, etc (active slider)
- Ringtone (active slider)
- Notifications (active slider)
- System (slider at zero level, slider is inaccessible)
My phone SG-Note-3 is unrooted and still locked onto Bell network (similar to ATT). The only change I have done in the past few weeks, is install one new app from the Google Play store - "Delayed Lock", paid version. Of course, I have many other pre-existing apps, for which some of them have automatically updated during these recent weeks.
My only way to reactivate the System Volume is to reboot the phone. Then the volume works and continues so for a few hours, or a day or two. Then it becomes inactive again, but I haven't determined what triggered this inactive state.
Help ...
I'm experiencing the same problem for the the last couple of weeks also , I'm suspecting that some app is trigiring this problem
One more question, is blocking mode is activated on your phone?

No, I don't use blocking mode. But, I just tested it and found that it is not the culprit.
I have tried many of my apps to determine if they are to blame. So, far none of them are causing the sound inactivity.

Anyone experiencing a problem with their system volume when you plug it in for recharge. System volume goes out every time I plug in to recharge and the only way to get it back is with a reboot. Any solutions ???
You have to turn up the notification volume first to open up the system volume bar

One of the best apps in the Market for android is Tasker. Needless to say what transformation cand your phone get by using this app. You can see that here:
http://tasker.dinglisch.net/
and you can get it from here:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.dinglisch.android.taskerm
I was just trying to find a collection of profiles for O1 and it seems there isn`t one, so why not having it right here.
So let`s get the best from our O1 by sharing the profiles we can use for different tasks. Practically there is no limit to what we can do with the phone using that app.
I also recommend you should post your system configuration because some tasks may not work on some roms, kernels etc.
LET YOUR SMARTPHONE BE SMART!
For people using ICS Roms, go to sttings>language and input method>text transformation result and select Pico TTS so you enable voice on Tasker.
I`ll start with a simple profile to make you phone stop ringing by turning it face down:
For this Context, you would choose State, then pick Orientation. You'll get the options you see at left. For this example, "Face Down" is a pretty deliberate action you take with your phone.
For the tasks, you can add "Bluetooth" and "WiFi" from the Net menu, set to Off, "GPS" from Misc set to Off, and set the volumes for "Media Volume" and "System Volume" to 0 from the Audio menu. If you'd like, you can re-order the tasks in priority by pressing and dragging them up the chain. In this case, I moved the volume-to-0 tasks up higher, since silencing the phone was the most important thing to do. Hit Done, and you're all set.
And there you go! Just flip the phone on it`s face to make it silent.
All the profiles listed below can be found here

Am I the only one who thinks that an app doing something at absolutely anything you do with the phone, this is not draining, it just uses 100% of the CPU when you flip the phone...
And lets not mention that, to make phone silent when turned upside down means it has a permanent wakelock, and sensor constantly finding what is the position etc...
At the end, you will have a very smart phone, but you won't be able to answer a call, because when answering phone must change all the settings, and then reboot, and... whatever, this thing sucks! Just like juice defender, but it is oriented 100% on losing performance and battery and control over the phone...
Oh you can try to make it do a factory reset every day if it is so smart

Read first, post after. Tasker app does not keep your phone awake as most tasks are set to trigger while it is awake and the display is on. Like the task to open automatically wifi when you open your browser or xda app and set it off after closing those apps. And when setting triggers based on power settings or time, the wakelocks are not constant, being activated just like alarm wakelocks. In fact you can set smart alarms too. Or actions based on calls/sms/mms received from specific ppl at specific times etc., or actions based on gestures set by you, proximity sensor ...
Tested wakelocks with BBStatus and no wakelocks, the phone goes to deep sleep. Tested cpu freq with Cool Tool and max freq is used only when starting the triggered app or doing the task set. In the rest of the time the freq oscillates normally.
And please do not make comments on any app based on how other apps behave. Try it then post.
If anyone is using this app, post your profiles or the ones you think are usefull.
nice thread! let me share my fav profiles
@vlt
Yea, you are the only one who thinks it because otherwise the app wont get 4-5 stars at always if it is battery consuming also, just because the developer had explained clearly how the tasker consume battery. its in the userguide inside and im vrry satisfied with it.
@voyager
tasker is just amazing to me ive been using it for long because it really makes my phone even smarter.
undoubtedly yes, using sensors as a context is the most battery comsuming but we can Limit the use of its detection by ourselves. not mentioning its pre-installed functionality that it wont detect when screen off, for your silent mode thing we can add another context - how about only when our launcher is in the foreground? that makes things even easier
now im glad to share my most frequently used profiles (not giving you guys my private ones XD) including
- vibrate 0.3 second with a little toast msg when power is plugged
- vibrate 0.3 sec and show how much battery left with toast when power is unplugged
- weekdays auto vibration mode in the morning
- auto rotation only on browser
- temporarily disable lockscreen when specified apps are opened (my default set for u is calculator)
- CM7 camera anti-flickering (good for those who OC with stock kernel )
- brightness 80% when camera activates and restore after exit
although gestures and proximity sensor contexts are SUPER COOL, other than the time i show off to my friends xD, ive always been avoiding the sensors to eliminate any chances of over using them and cause batteries.
so, i guarantee my profiles are super battery friendly....
hehehe you must be tempted to download immediately? do it! tell me what do you think of my favourite profiles which are always activated on my P500
to import, unzip my zip and u get xml files. go to tasker, long press "profiles" tab, import, choose the xml. done!
lol dont worry abt the little tip, Miasmic never gives malicious tasks
Happy tasking!

How do you change OC on it?
.........
Set a profile which is based on a context on which the task will trigger, for example when open camera, set task to set clock to 600 Mhz, then set exit app task to reset the clock back to your usual OC freq.
You can play like that with almost everything on you phone.

Look under task>net. If not there then no.
I can't get it executes the task, the notification keep saying no active profiles. Imported missmic XML profiles (thanks to miasmic). please help, thanks....
Try setting some simpler tasks like start wifi when opening browser. Miassmic`s tasks can be set manually too.
Here`s another profile
Enable WiFi when at Home
Context: State –> Cell Near
Tap the “Start” button and move around your home as your area may be covered by several cells (the “<” sign represents the tower you’re currently connected to). You may stop it after few minutes.
Action: Net –> WiFi
Another profile which sets up a shortcut on home screen for taking instant photos, without opening camera app (point and shoot)
Long-press on the Home-screen > Shortcuts > Task
Action: Media –> Photo Series Time (So that new photos don’t overwrite the previous one and every new photo will have the time attached with its name.)
If discrete is checked, there will be no sign of the picture being taken.
Profiles i use
I attached some of my usual profiles.
What they do:
Missed call> after any missed call with display locked the phone vibrates 0.7 sec than waits one minute and says "you had one call x minutes ago" every minute for 30 minutes. Profile must be used with display unlocked profile
Display unlocked> if you had a missed call and unlock the phone the missed call profile stops
Charging>when connected to AC/usb (can be set to either or any) phone will vibrate 07 sec and say "charging"
Battery full>when connected to AC/usb (can be set to either or any) and battery reaches 100% the phone will say "battery full"
Profiles can be improved or modified easy to reach anyones expectations.
This application has a few problems like battery drain .
Another one is UI....it's a bit unfriendly by the way the cool thing is that you have that if :
if condition1 = or anything with condition 2 then execute .
Yap, a bit unfriendly, but once you now how...
Hi,
On cm 7.2, how do you set tasker to enable or disable pattern lock?
I'm on cm 7.2 since yesterday on my Desire. It's my first time on cm, actually. Before that, I used to be on HTC Desire specific roms. I'm rooted.
I've been using Tasker for quite a while, and by now I have a number of profiles that make me feel my phone is smart
Now, the big problem with Tasker is that it spoils you by doing all sorts of things automatically for you. And when a profile no longer works and you have to do things manually, you get really annoyed
And so, in that context, I have the following profile :
Profile : Home
Context : Cell Near
Variable Set %HOME to on
Wifi Set On
Secure Settings Configuration Pattern Lock disabled
Previously, before I switched to cm 7.2, this used to work perfectly, with GO Launcher and stock pattern lock. Now that I'm on cm 7.2 also with GO Launcher, Tasker can no longer act on pattern lock.
Any idea anyone?
Thanks,
Egg
SOLVED :
I solved my issue by complety removing Secure Settings and re-installing version 1.2.2 from Google Play.
So I am thinking about buying this app but.....

There's a 7 day trial version you can download here:
http://tasker.dinglisch.net/download.html
Jelly Bean introduced headset controls which allowed Play/Pause and Next for single and double presses respectively on headsets. I can confirm both these work just fine.
However, the long-press option to launch Voice Search only works while screen is unlocked. When screen is locked, long-press has no effect (it does not even register as a single press)
I tried the following:
1. Disabling Pattern lock (which I mostly use)
2. Turning on screen (but still locked) and then long pressing.
3. Keeping Google Search on in the background and then locking screen.
No luck.
Cannot seem to get any useful info regarding this on the Internet.
There is no point in the voice search shortcut on headsets if the phone has to be dug out from my pocket and unlocked. There has to be a way to bypass that.
Can somebody help??
EDIT: I am also unsure if this is an Android-specific problem or a ROM specific problem, so it would be kind of you if you could test it yourself. You can see my ROM details in the signature. I use Samsung headset in combination with my Nexus 4.
UPDATE: I tried turning off the "Power button immediately locks phone" option and set "Automatically lock phone after sleep" time to 30 minutes. Still the long press doesn't work. It works only after screen is turned on again. Whaaaaa...?!
ANOTHER UPDATE: This issue is present on Google Code but it has been closed without further comments. Please star this issue so that it is noticed by the development team.
Been really frustrated about this as well. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I'm running Jellybeer 4.0 on SGH i717m
Astounding. I even have to use a third party app to dial by voice reliably. What good is Google's extensive voice technology if you can't use it?
I'm equally as confused. One advantage of owning an iPhone is that you've got an excellent bike companion that could read and reply to texts, make calls, check the time, etc all while keeping my eyes on the road and hands on my handlebars. I always figured my Nexus S didn't do that because I was running a different ROM - but 4.2 on a brand new Nexus.....come on.

Please check this link
My solution:
1. Download Bluetooth Launch from Play Store
2. Launch, scroll to Google Search and expand it
3. Enable option “com.google.android.googlequicksearchbox.VoiceSearchActivity”
4. close
5. launch Google Now go to Settings -> Voice and enable Bluetooth Headset option
6. connect not working Bluetooth or wired headset and long press button. Dialog should appear and select Bluetooth Launcher always!
7. test if this is the complete solution for you. If it doesnt work properly when screen is locked try following:
- Install Xposed Framework
- go to Downloads and Install "AppSettings"
- open AppSettings and go to Google Search
- Turn On Settings and check "Show when locked"
- save
- restart Phone
If you are having issues with your selected language in Google Now. Also use AppSettings and change Location for Google Search to desired one. Now you should be able to use Google Now in your preferred language.

Bug in google dialer - white/blank screen after first click number pad. After second click it is OK... (build with Android 4.4.3).

22.jpg - second click (after back button).

Updated to 4.3, but the "Dialpad" bug is still present on my Nexus 4. Well bug, maybe it's a feature? Problem is whenever I open Dialer, and want to dial number directly from dialpad, first touch on the dialpad icon does nothing, just some weird screen behaviour, and only second attempt works.
Anybody have similar problems?"
"Yes, it works. Shows me the local Walmarts in the area (we don't have Walgreens here). You can also choose between several providers for forward and reverse lookup (Google, Whitepages, Yellowpages, etc both USA and CA versions). It also doesn't have that annoying bug the CM11 dialer does where I need to hit the dialpad icon twice to get the keyboard to show up (first time it's blank, second time it's got the full dialpad digits)"
but not any solutions.
Do You know any solution for that problem?

First issue, text to speech activated when pressing pressing calculator apps.
this is really annoying. Talkback off, uninstalled google talk to speech app in the manage apps menu, clear cache and data
on samsung text to speech apps on manage apps as well. still exist i dont know what to do anymore.
second issue, one handed mode turns off automatically and the s pen commands!!!! WTF!!!
this happens everyday, when i use one handed mode i was shocked its not working and when i check the settings
its turned off. the next day when i use it its turn off again wtf!!!
any solution with this???
Talking calculator is because you have something activated in the accessibility settings. Its a bug I guess..probably will be solved with software update.
I don't know about second issue.

I'm creating this thread to collect bugs found in the Oreo software that devs can take a look at for their ROMs, and possibly report to HTC depending on importance.
My first bug is cosmetic. The app icons are not consistent at all, and this goes further than the home screen launcher. If you hit the share button, the size of the icons vary, some big and some small.
My second bug is a little more annoying, and I'm not sure how to replicate. I was using Google Maps in and out of PiP mode (I drive Uber, so I come in and out of Maps constantly), and after some extensive switching, the PiP app wouldn't maximize, and my Recent Apps panel would not activate. The actual recents button could still activate multi-window, but it wouldn't cycle through the last two apps or activate the Recents carousel. The behavior returned to normal after a reboot. I am currently stock rooted, but I'm quite certain that has nothing to do with this issue. I will report if this happens again, and pay more attention to any possible causes. I might report this one to HTC.
My third bug is cosmetic, but a little on the annoying side. When switching Bluetooth audio profiles (found in dev options, for those who don't know), the codec that is displayed doesn't change, but you still hear the difference in audio. Also, aptx HD doesn't work for me. When selected, I hear no difference in the sound.
Ok....so my nav buttons are not working, but my home button is still working....am In the only one who is experiencing this? It is very sporadic, and fixes with a reboot.

You're not the only one. My Nav buttons stopped responding 3 times in last 2 days. Had to restart.

YouTube requires a YouTube Red subscription.

PIP is not convenient to use now. For example, you can open youtube.com in chrome, request desktop site, play some video in fullscreen, press home button, then you get your PIP feature.
After update my battery reduction too much..
Maybe not exactly bugs, but a few things that bother me are how ugly the icons are and that it's using the default notification sound when I'm on low battery and it plays the notification sound coming in and out of night mode as well. I don't need to be notified with a sound about coming in and out of night mode and I'd prefer the regular buzz buzz sound of the low battery rather than thinking I got a message of something.
I hate the persistent notifications of things running in the background or drawing over... Not a bug, but a 'feature'.

It might seem a weird thing to do but try clearing cache and data from Google play services, playstore etc. I remember when I turned off all permissions to playservices my buttons stopped working as well except home button. Worth a try.

here the second solution works for me in my htc u11 whit oreo
https://www.thecustomdroid.com/hide-persistent-notifications-on-android-oreo/
Turn on Wi-Fi automatically
Turn on Wi-Fi automatically function is missing in wifi preferences, according to oreo new function it as to be there
The settings area on top has got to be the stupidest thing they have done. "Suggestions". Who the hell cares about it. Mine will not go away. Keeps saying connect usonic ear phones. I deleted all of touch pal junk as well.

Third option worked great for me. Thanks
Probably more a feature than a bug, but I miss being able to pull down the notification shade and toggling between Do Not Disturb, Priority Mode, and Normal. Now tapping the icon just turns on Priority Mode. I can't seem to find an easy way to turn on Do Not Disturb without long-pressing the icon. Does anyone else know a better way?

You can turn off the night mode notification. I set it to still show the icon in the top bar but not make a sound. It took a while to find, and I forget where it is. Maybe the notification settings for the system app.
When the screen is off and you double click the power button to access camera, it will not pop up with a preference choice (assuming you have more than one camera installed) unless you time it exactly with putting your fingerprint on the scanner
My shortcut options when you long press an icon are completely gone on every launcher.
Edit: Suddenly works. Odd.
My phone's bluetooth connects with my car's. Tried to play spotify But the audio plays on my phone still. My car sees th title of the song, just for display....Wasn't like this before the update... Must be the bluetooth 5.0 thing?
