I'm creating this thread to let you know about the progress of getting the camera to work on 3.x kernel.
I'm using 3.4 kernel but the changes should be easily applicable for 3.0 kernel as well.
The goal is to have a functional camera driver using ION memory allocator. Unfortunately the Qualcomm's proprietary libs we have for Touchpad relies on now deprecated PMEM allocator.
What is working:
- preview,
- taking pictures,
What is not working:
- panorama,
- video recording,
- skype.

dorregaray you are the man!!
many thanks for the amazing work
As a Rezound owner, I follow the xda community for it and they came up with a hybrid situation where they were still able to use the pmem blobs/drivers for the camera while running under an ion based 3.0 kernel. Worked really well. Something to consider for the short term?

I have such configuration right now, but after I'll fix some issues I have I want to get rid of pmem and get it working fully using ION if possible. That will require replacing some proprietary Qualcomm libs with the ones supporting ION.
Just want to be clear. If you get this working, it should work on any 3.xx kernel including J.C. Sullins CM10.1 experimental 3KERN build?

If I will get it working it shouldn't be hard to apply the changes to the 3.0 jcsullins kernel.
In fact the reason I'm working on 3.4 kernel is that the flintman has released a kitkat no data/media build with this kernel.

Yes, but I'm running his old build and just replacing the kernel and camera driver with the ones I have built. I just don't want to switch to data/media images to be able to easily switch back to the CM9 or CM10 builds not losing anything

Smart move! I personally don't see enough benefit in data/media to endure the hassle of setting up my TP to be able to install a data/media build.

Replying to a post two weeks old, I suspect you meant "now works", rather than "already works". And the same is true now in most the other recent tenderloin builds (including CM11.x) as jcsullins BT fixes have been merged.
So next up is camera support in kernel 3.x builds.

SERIOUSLY. This is an unofficial CM7 build with cherry picks (from CM's Gerrit) of unfinished mods and/or broken code that is continually changing. New users should STAY AWAY FROM HERE. So there are still a lot of issues with the gb build then? Or are they nearing a final working version? And by no means am i asking for an eta or anything just curious as to the progress being made.
Right now it runs. That's all I can say. But it is a lot better of a first build than other devices.... If I can get a working vendor built this weekend,we may see some progress(wifi working maybe....)

Same thing that was with my builds guys. Not worth it. Compile on your own for now if you really want this. There is no data, no calls, nothing. Until RIL is figured out, then CyanogenMod 7 is useless. I will be building full time once RIL is sorted but for now, these are useless other than having bragging rights. Not trying to discourage the OP but rather letting the masses know what's up.

What's the issue with RIL?
i have a build from another dev that runs and i have gapps but no data so you cant sign in and wifi throws you into a bootloop...we needa kernel and i think we will finally have GB for the TB!
RIL: Radio Interface Layer.
The only reason that we have no data/text/calling/etc for CM 7. These threads are beating a dead horse. Wait until we have a working test build. I'll start building again once we have that.
The issue is, it's not open source.

Man i cant wiat till yous figure this out...Im jonesin for sum GB
I think the title needs changing, and I really wish these builds were not posted if no one was willing to support them.
We end up getting the questions on irc, people don't read the disclaimers/warnings. The howto stealing sites (thats you A.T.) remove the warnings.
Maybe change title to "CM Builds - DATEHERE - NON-FUNCTIONAL" so less ppl will mess with it.
So we need to find the RIL files leaked? Or how do you get them?

Oh gotcha. So they have to make them compatible. That makes more sense. Now the closed source comment makes sense.
Thunderbolt Rooted!
This is absurd. Mods should lock this thread until we get a working rom.
No offense... but why? This thread is misleading, this thread will cause noobs too eff up their sh*t (despite your clearly stated warnings, they will not take them seriously), this thread is utterly useless because CM7 is not working, CM Parts are not working, RIL is not working...
Flashing this will make your phone useless (just like this thread).
Besides, there are already threads dedicated to compiling daily builds of CM7. Those threads have been put on hold (like they should) until CM7 is ready to be compiled. Even then, many people will flash extremely early builds of CM and wonder why certain functionality is missing or why x,y, and z does not work.
The underlying point is that this thread is going nowhere fast and will only cause problems. At least wait until the RIL is re-engineered and working.
Thank you.

well I guess theres some conflict here but as long as the Rom works and everyone that was involved gets a mention I'm happy. Surley thats the main thing right give everyone what they want, anyway thats enough from me, happy new year to you guys its there if you want it
Does the ROM work fine?
Any nitz and RIL issues?
All this slating of airbus360. However if anyone bothers to try his rom, it is much better. I've been using cm9 since the first alpha up to the most recent release. It was good, but not a patch on this. Airbus's rom is much smoother, especially when flicking between home screens. Its also a lot faster. So although he may have used Teamhacksung code, he's obviously incorporated a few improvements of his own. Before anyone criticises, they should install it. It's a step up from the current cm9 builds.

This is exactly the same as CM9, except it's not using CM9 launcher and quick toggles in status bar.

This is not a development thread, there is no development going on. So, moving this to general.

Noon Question. How to install this so called beta version. Help pls.....
Been using this since last night.
Basically, looks the same as CM9 minus a few modifications, yet the ROM is a lot smoother then CM9.
Battery for me is great, roughly 1% loss an hour. Removed all uneeded apps via Titanium Backup.
Ive noticed one slight problem with the incoming call screen, icons misplaced. BUT, Still can be used.
I've had No FC's either.
I do really reccomend this ROM
Hey guys!
In Samsung Galaxy S forum i found something veeeeeeeeeery interesting!
It's about the Linaro-Code that should speed up Android about a noticeable amount!
Just take a look at this video:
Linaro-Video from Youtube
(This is the related article: cnx-software.com)
Idk what i should think about it. If it really works, i guess it would be worth a try ?!
Here is another article, which says, that it can speed up Android 2 times!
"The Linaro team, who’s constantly working on optimizing software for the ARM
architecture, has worked on optimizing the latest version of Android as well, and
they claim up to 2x improvement in performance compared to stock Android
4.0.4, running on the same TI OMAP 4430 hardware. The improvements are
mostly CPU-related, even though they are showing a graphical object to test the
performance. They’ve managed to double the FPS for this particular test, but
they’ve also managed to increase the Sunspider performance by 30%, which is
also quite a big deal."
- quote from this article.

Yes, it would really be. I just posted it because I thought kernel 3.x could handle it.
Sorry for double-posting this topic.
Anyway; if our developers find more time and are able to make kernel 3.x running
(which would be awesome!) our phone would get an enourmous speed-boost.
We have used it in our CM9 port on LG P500, but there are still some issues to solve, but our Linaro-build is smooth So good luck! If a dev needs some info on how to include it in their code, look at our project-site github.com/lgics

I haven't been following it lately, but I saw a dispute whether the developer should have made a slim version of an already available ROM or not. So it is likely that the original ROM developer asked to cease the slim port and sought a thread closure.

If it was pulled by a moderator upon request personally I think it's within reason. The thread wasn't stated as being Unofficial, which it should have been, and with a system partition of 130MB it can hardly even be called a slim OS (other full fat ROMs are 150); nevermind comparable to SlimICS which are half that size (54 - 70). And besides the last post I seen on the thread was from the OP who said he wasn't happy with the build and wanted to change the ROM he was porting from, and it was only an alpha.
On a similar note, if a small ICS rom is to come along, I personally thing it would be benificial if we could utilise squashfs. This would require kernel support, the toggles are there to turn on squashfs support in dorimanx, but it may require a module from somewhere, I'll PM dori tomorrow concerning this unless someone here know if squash can/can't be used with our bootloaders / device. Only problem I can for see is in module compatibility, and if it works should allow for smaller versions of our current ROMs.
Your position is legit but non of the slim ics roms include gapps and trebucht as launcher. It was comparable to other full roms with about 50-100mb less memory. And for me it's totally legit to port a ROM from one to an other device if you give credit and state which Tom was ported. Would be different if there was some own coding for tools and drivers was done. Don't distribute my tools without my permission is different than don't share something i picked up somewhere else and used it for my own work. That's not how the gold licence works.

Most of ics roms are from 150 to 220m(miui).
This rom without gapps was around 85mb.
I have atm slim ics with trimmed gapps and some media files that fit in less then 120mb, if i compare to other ics rom which i used as trimmet down, they were from 140 to 190mb imho it was really Slim version of rom
Edit: Maybe it was beta version but worked without problems and it was the fastest ics i tried and i tried them alot

Fair point, the last zip I downloaded had a system folder of 130MB thats where I got my sizes from, have had a play with squashfs and have shrunk this down from 130 to 92MB. Will try tomorrow to get a kernel to compile properly and see if squash works here. Haven't tried slim myself, currently running PA and can't see how it can be faster. Will try tomorrow to get a kernel to compile properly and see if squash works here. Haven't tried slim myself, currently running PA and can't see how it can be faster. Have you had any issues when trying to make a call /pressing the call button?

If i don't consider common issues which have most of ics hd2, like sometimes funky memory management which on heavy duty can produce little problems, there aren't any un ordinary problem.
Calls working very snappy.
In fact whole rom is fast, responsive, low battery consumption, apps which i tested working correctly even Ted app.

I tried both, as well as some other ICS rom and believe me, it's faster than any other 4.0.4 around here. In fact I'm using it as my daily and I find it excellent, such a shame the thread has been deleted.
Hi ppl, sorry for the silence on this. Apparently there was a problem with permissions for Zorua's thread, I asked the moderators advice on the future of my thread, and it was decided to close my thread also. I have no problem with this decision.
Sorry for any inconvenience to anybody caused by this episode.
It is a great shame though, it was a really nice build.
(Sorry for bad English)
Before anybody ask me to fix things, i'm sorry, but i can't. These are "stable", so do a full wipe, and check if the problem solved.
You are doing this at your own risk

Thanks again, but keep in mind that i just built it from source Chill, i wouldn't like to stop until official nightly builds.
What's the point? How is this any different from the other unofficial builds? Seems like a waste of time and a clutter of the development section unless some how this is different?

There is no difference from the other builds. I didn't say it's something special. Somewhere i agree with you. CM should be official now.

There are several unofficial builds out there, but no one makes the builds every day, or at least shares them. The two CM devs don't really share their builds everyday, so it is nice to have several options where the ROM is updated daily. Furthermore, if one build has an issue, it is possible to use another build in order to check weither the ROM is bugged or is the builder the culprit (bad repo sync, etc...).

Yup they don't, because they wanna wait till it's integrated into CM's Jenkins, auto/official builds. It takes too long to do by their own(It can take like an hour depending on the hardware)

Nah I made a little guide on how to build, and my build only take 10-15mins depending of the changes. The first build took around 2-3hours, but when you enable CCACHE, you reduce it a lot since it uses stuff from the last build.
For the HW, I'm using a VMWare workstation (virtual machine) with Ubuntu 16.XX, OS and software on SSD, VM on HHD (1Gb 7200rpm), i5 6500, 8Gb of RAM (5 given to VM, but seems to use more). For the repo sync, got a 30Mb/s wire (download speed is at 3Mb/s). So as you can see, it's not really a big big computer, I'm not even using my SSD for the building ^^

Yet it is a pain to do builds everyday on the same day. If you forget a day, people will complain and flame the hell out of you.(that's the XDA forums after all) This guy is really brave.
It's also hard to support people running 100's of different builds(Remember; CM doesn't even support their own official nightlies on their forums, you'll get your topic locked and/or downright ignored).

Hehe yeah true, you forget one day and BOOM, got everyone on your back. And CM doesn't support it yet because they may have issues with the number of servers or even in terms of stability, trademark, etc...
