Custom ROMs and xposed framework - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all,
Recently I have just found out about xposed framework and want to use it on my GT-I9505 running Cynagenmod 11 (the kitkat version). Furthermore, I would like to then install other things such as wanam xposed. However, from the guide I'm looking at, the person seems to be using a stock ROM. So my question is, would I be able to install this framework on a custom ROM like Cynagenmod or any other custom ROM just as easy? Or is it recommended to go back to a stock based ROM?
Thanks to anyone that can help

Read post #2 in the Xposed Framework thread. Short answer - yes, it should work.

AFAIK Wanam Xposed is designed to work with stock Samsung ROMs. Other Xposed modules, however, should work fine with any ROM.

when you are on kitkat based rom, make sure ART runtime is not activated, xposed won't work on ART, it will revert the runtime into dalvik

Gravity Box is a good alternative to Wanam Exposed. You should try it.

Xposed only works on Dalvik runtime. Wanam Xposed is for Samsung TouchWiz roms only. Gravity Box is for AOSP and GE roms, and will offer you many customization options, along with XuiMod. Wanam Kit should also work as this is for AOSP KitKat roms which is similar to Gravity Box.

[Q] Nexus 4 menu buttons.

Hi all!
For a long time I had been searching for a ROM, that would be able to manage virtual buttons on my Nexus 4. Finally, I found what I need in Slim ROM. It is very good ROM, but now I want to use 4.4
So my question is: Is there any 4.4-based ROM, without any bugs, that can help me set my virtual buttons (their functions, and positioning)?
Thanks.
There are many roms that can do this, CyanogenMod, Paranoid Android, AOKP and SlimRoms. There isn't a stable KitKat build for any of them yet. Look in the "Nexus 4 Original Android Development" section for updates. You can install the nightly versions if you wish.
You can also do this with stock using Gravity Box module for Xposed Framework, which isn't working for KitKat yet.
All 4.4 KitKat roms have bugs including stock from Google: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2527705

Thank you for the complete answer :good:
I just want to post the exactly same question,
because I love the change virtual nav buttons and have 4 with long and short press action,
I tested many 4.4 but not found any rom in 4.4 who let me change the soft buttons..
Well, for now Xposed framework is up for Android 4.4 Kitkat and you can use GravityBox. But without Xposed I personaly use latest SlimKat Alpha 1.4. The bugs are getting sloved quickly, and modyfing the soft buttons is very easy. I would recommend SlimKat for everyone.
Hy again,
I tried roms what you recommend, but I have one question/ request because none of them have an option to enable a Menu button like on my screenshot
Can someone explain why ? He just let me enable the ugly 3dot menu button
Thanks a lot
P.s.: is it possible via xposed ?

Xposed on Stock 4.1.2?

Does anyone here use the Xposed Framework on stock 4.1.2? I'm currently running CM11 nightlies but I thought I might revert back to stock if Xposed provides enough functionality. I just found out about Xposed otherwise I would have tried it already. If you do you use Xposed, how is the performance? Would you say it's better to use Xposed on stock or a different ROM? Thanks.

Its great. See my ...Telstra jb... in the dev sec for tips ( @ the end , after the clone rom flash.
GO Xposed!!! - you may never go back to "custom" - Actually, I am a bit of a "crack-flasher", but I always return to "Stock/Xposed" when I want something stable. My favorite Xposed module "Gravity Box" has most everything the custom ROMs have (status bar colors, navigation size, reboot menu, cursor keys, etc.) Add in a "quick settings" app and you can make 4.1.2 "look" about like Kit Kat. Does it hurt performance... Maybe, but I've found stock to usually run faster anyways.
(P.S. - I probably wouldn't have unlocked either if I would have found Xposed sooner)
Pics of narrow bar & too skinny-it will not click.
Thanks for the info. I'll give it a shot this weekend.

Galaxy Note 4- Should I Leave Wanam Xposed On My ROM? What Is It?

Wanama Xposed Info
The ROM that I'm about to flash on my Note 4, comes with a pre-installed version of Wanam Xposed, what is this? Should I leave this option on the cellphone, I'm noob at this, so any info will be appreciated.
Thanks in advanced. [emoji120]

Wanam is a customization module for xposed framework. This allows you to mod a lot of system settings, mainly UI!
I have no clue if xposed is stable now on the Android 5 Samsung roms, there had been a lot of troubles because Samsung changed a lot in their framework compared to the stock one, and it took some time to adopt xposed to these changes.
If xposed is baked into your custom rom then go ahead and give it a try!
It working fine , I can't live without it

First you need to deodex your stock ROM (xposed doesn't works on odexed ROMs), then you can install Xposed according to the process available in official thread.

Sure, Xposed Framework is already available for Samsung MM Roms. It is already included in kossiwossi's Orgia ROM for example. If you want to install it by your own, you will need a deodexed Rom! If you already have a deodexed Rom or deodexed one by your own, you have to install a custom recovery for flashing the Xposed Framework.
After that, install the Xposed Enabler 3.0 alpha4 apk from here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3034811
then reboot into Custom Recovery and flash the Xposed Framework v80.0 sdk arm64 by wanam from here:

After that, reboot Device and wait a little bit.

On stock Rom it doesn't work, because xposed needs the used files deodexed. (please someone correct me, if i'm wrong)
So if you want it closed to stock, you must download the original firmware from sammobile and deodex it by your own.
I am on kossiwossi's Orgia Rom and skyhigh's custom Kernel 2.8 (stock kernel is included in the rom) because it is close to stock and Viper Audio is included. You can debloat it as you want in aroma and it is a stable daily driver.

Please, would you attach a screenshot of the home screen of Orgia? I would like to see the design if that's TouchWizz stock.
