My brother claims his G2 was acting up yesterday. On his way to work in the afternoon, he claimed it got really hot in his pocket. Anyway now it won't turn on, the screen stays black. Putting it on the charger doesn't seem to have helped. Computer doesn't see it when I plug it in via USB.
He is completely stock, not even rooted. I don't think anyone is going to be able to help here, but I'm curious if anyone else has had a similar issue? I guess he didn't know he could kill it by holding the power button down for so long, and probably just let it burn up in his pocket.

Damn power button doesn't work and i have no way of turning it on. The reason I want to turn it on is so that i could attempt to put in the stock mt4g rom, as I called HTC and they told me that i could send it in. They did say however, that if It was running "unapproved software" that i would have to pay.
I have tried the method of turning on the phone by plugging it into the wall charger and pressing/holding the homescreen but all that does is illuminate the screen a little, but its still black. I'm running CM 7.0.3 and have the current Clockworkmod recovery. I'm hoping someone responds soon, and if i do happen to turn it on somehow, i'll still need help changing the phone back to stock bc of the fact that the power button doesn't work. Which means that i'll have to use adb, and i have no idea what that is lol.
If not, then I guess i'll just have to send it to HTC and hope they don't charge me too much. Fml.
Try taking the battery out, plugging the phone in and the putting the battery back in while the phone is plugged in. Not sure how that would help you unroot as you need to use the power button in bootloader. Maybe if you contact some devs they can write some sort of script to automate it.

Nope, that didn't work, but thx for the effort lol. If I can just turn it on, they I'll use ADB to flash the stock rom. I heard you can do anything with ADB.......
I don't understand why holding the Home button after plugging the phone is just showing the illuminating black screen, instead of booting into recovery Is it a bug in the current Clockwordmod recovery??? Can anyone else on CM 7.0.3 (clockworkmod 4.x.x mt4g) confirm this?
Anyone here??? :/
UPDATE
So I couldn't turn back on and I decided to hell with it and I sent it in hoping that HTC wouldn't charge me toomuch. About 4 days later I get the email that they were sending it back, fully repaired at no charge! Even though I had CM7 in it!
Hope this helps someone else in this situation. HTC +1 in my book :]
Thanks for the update! Check your PM
OK Guys, I think my phones dead. Here's the deal. The power button no longer works, been the case for a few days now. Ive been using gravity screen to switch on the display, but always worried what would happen if my phone should shut down. And today my phone ran out of charge and shut down So Now Im stuck with a phone which is charging and will work perfectly fine if it switches on but IDK how to switch it on. Phone not yet rooted. Anyway to get it to boot?
If Not would it be possible for the LG service centre to get it working? or is it gone forever?
Replacement not possible, since I got it from the US and Im now in India.
My friend got repaired his power button in LG store for some 500rupees, he brought his nexus from amazon.com so they can help you.

Hi everybody,
What Happened:
My phone has suddenly become totally unresponsive. I have been using it most of the day, it was sitting at around 70% the time that it happened, but it is now a totally black screen. I had just taken it out of my pocket and it was suddenly like this.
The only idea I could come up with as to why this happened is that I charged it off of a JBL Charge 2 last night. I'm not sure if that may have messed with the battery, but I do find it odd that it's totally unresponsive while plugged in.
I was running android 7.1.1 DP2, with the ElementalX kernel 4.0 I believe. I was also rooted with SuperSU. What's really odd is that I hadn't done anything new recently besides install uTorrent and VLC media player. Otherwise, my routine has not changed one bit. Up to when the phone actually died, I hadn't even used either of these new apps the entire day.
What I've Tried:
I have tried plugging it in via AC, via USB, I've tried booting into recovery or fastboot, but there is zero response from the phone. No indicators on the screen, no LED blinks, no vibrations, nothing.
What I'll Try:
If anyone has any experience with this happening, I could use some advice. Otherwise I'm just going to wait it out, consider an RMA I guess. However, my device did have the bootloader unlocked and was rooted, so.... I hope it comes back by itself.
My advice is to keep it plugged in, or see if there is a response on the computer perhaps on fastboot, upon using the bootloader keys. I haven't had this, just a few suggestions. Good luck!
PS: A RMA will probably be needed, there are much more experienced people around here. Sure you may get replies later.
Good luck?problem all nexus 6p!!! Lg responds repay helps, hawuei what to do? problem arises with nogaut not be our fault, how to fix this? My phone now in service but to be fair this? warranty and having to wait ..
Title says it all. Phone is completely stock too. I was at work on break, sent a text, and then put it in my pocket. Checked it once more and the screen wouldn't turn on. The phone was at half battery and everything. Just got the phone 2 days ago new. But nothing will boot, no recovery. Not even connecting the charger. I'm just wondering if anyone else has had this issue. Makes me feel like LG isn't that reliable, coming from an HTC.
Hi, I am using the LG V20 H900ds model number. This morning whilst using my phone in multi window mode, everything went wrong. My phone started hanging horribly followed by my display slowly turning black, pressing the power button would wake the display but it would start turning black again. The power off and restart buttons wouldn't respond. So I decided to take out the battery. After that, my phone would turn on but the display wouldn't. Can't access recovery but when plugged in, my laptop does detect the phone. There was no water damage neither did I drop it. Phone is just a few weeks old.
In my opinion the display is faulty but I would like to know if anyone here has a similar experience. And if there is any other solution rather than taking it to a technician. I live in Bangladesh where the LG V20 wasn't officially introduced and it would cost me a fortune to fix it.
Any advice or opinions would be helpful, thanks.
Did you fix it? I have the same problem.
