Broken Auxiliary Port? - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

It seems my auxiliary port is on the fritz. If I slightly move the cord while its plugged in my music will pause and sometimes google voice pops up. Anyone know if I could fix it myself or should I bring my phone to verizon. I am rooted so my warranty is kinda void. But there are ways around that.

Problem with headphone jack

My problem is that when i try to connect my phone to my stereo the screen starts messing up. Everything looks fine but the screen doesnt register any of my finger strokes. Ive tried two different rca to headphone jack cables could it be my phone or my stereo perhaps. I just got my phone everything is stock.

1.- Test if a headphone produce same problem
2.- Test same cable with other stereo
Sounds like its shorting. Be careful ya could fry your phone.

It could be a bad charger do you drop it before?

Some charges come bad from factory u should try a diferent charger

My charger definitely makes noise... It's usually not a problem and caused by some internal components

My galaxy nexus charger had this same type of issue. Although it would only emit a noise when the phone wasn't hooked up to it. Kinda reminded me of coil whine on certain video cards.
My charger makes the noise too, usually about 1h of use.. Also the charger from my previous lg phone (Optimus 2x) used to make the same noise too. My wife's s2 charger does not make any sound at all..

So I suppose its the way it is and its not a sign of faulty charger is it?

did anyone request a replacement charger from Google or is everyone just accepting it for what it is?
p.s. i found 3 threads for this issue...
I have this issue to. It's annoying when I wake up in the night and can hear it.
Mine is super annoying. I wouldn't be able to sleep with it charging beside me.

same here, noisy when the Nexus 4 isn't plugged.. when I plug it - the noise stops..
I care less about the noise, but can it be dangerous for the phone?
My Chager also make a noice
My Nexus 4 Charger also make noise
actually it buzz like a bee
But just when the cellphone isn't conect to it while conected to the electicity
when I plug my cellphone to it the noice stops!
May be the Nexus 4 charger is mice powered.

Should I be coping with this?

Ever since I got my N4 (November - original launch model) the micro USB port makes a clicking sound when moved and when moving USB disconnects!
more importantly, my N4 headphone jack is lose or something because sound is fine but if I bump the connector I set of Google now or pause music etc..
Is there a way to disable this button / feature and should I cope with these issues like I've been doing? Or should I RMA?

Personally I would go for RMA if you didn't drop the phone or anything like that and you didn't cause the problem

Electrical feedback through sound

So I just noticed this. With headphones on I heard little electrical sounds on the right side whenever I press something on the touchscreen. I tried this on 2 different pairs of headphones and it happens on both. It is annoying when I don't have music playing cuz then I can hear it. It isnt very loud but is noticeable.
Anyone else experience this?
I am on CyanogenMod nightly BTW, so that may have something to do with it but my feeling is it is hardware based issue.

I just did a test and it appears its only happens when the phone is plugged in. The power from the cord being so close to the headphone jack must be messing with it. Well this sucks! I'd like to hear if anyone else is experiencing this. Thank you.

none whatsoever, try different headset\appliance, yours could have a wire\water corrosion issue

I flashed back to stock and to my surprise the problem wasnt there any more. I will have to test CyanogenMod and this problem more.

Did you try plugging in another headset and taking it out? I find it odd that it would be 'stuck' in headset mode, even after a complete stock wipe.

installed my country(Israel) stock rom
using the flash tool provided on lg website
and still got headphones mode :<
any more sulotions guys?
Like mentioned before, I would guess that it's the physical headphone jack. Likely the contact that gets pushed when you insert the headphone plug is stuck. I would plug in another headset a few times and see if it fixes itself.
Plug in and out till it pops. ......

Just had this happen to me. Cleared data. Flashed stock. No difference. Has to be hardware. I wasn't even using the headphone jack when this happened.
I wonder if it's the connectors to the board

Mine does make the odd weird sound when the headphone jack is plugged in makes me wonder if this is something to come. ...

Mine isn't actually stuck on. It randomly turns on and off. It is extra annoying with the plug and pop app running. Something is loose. Maybe it is the board connector. A good drop on pavement could certainly knock something loose.
I found an app to route the audio to the speaker so at least I can still hear my alerts. Here's the link if you need it.
