So 3 days ago I was flashing malladus 1.2.4 and had no problems. I read of another user having an issue, so in order to help I dirty flashed a few times trying to recreate. 1 flash brorked my GPS, I clean flashed the rom and fixed it. Flashed again to out of curiosity and.. now I have no GPS!
I have tried going to stock via the KDZ and TOT which effectively took me to 10b and 11a- no luck ?
I have tried the GPS fix and calibration apps- no luck ?
I have tried toggling location services and GPS antenna on/off- no luck ?
Can anyone shed some light or is this a dead GPS module? No matter what rom I always used to lock in 4-7 seconds. Thanks in advance!

There have been some reports of phones needing to be replaced under warranty because of broken GPS.
Most however from my reading, have been able to go back to stock and get a lock, then reload their rom. Did you try those GPS fix/calibration apps while stock? Maybe load an older stock rom? Were you outside?
You will have to go back to stock anyway to make a warranty claim, so it is at least worth another try.
Yes all. On stock now, went from 10b to 12b OTA. Going to VZW after training. .

Have any of you frozen any apps/system processes? My GPS is solid and locks on in a few seconds.

I haven't altered any system apps or frozen anything. Is as close to stock as possible on jellybeans rom v2. I am thinking I may just have to go back to my stock rooted setup.

I had the same problem. I fixed it by odin flashing the MJ7 modem.
I'm on hyperdrive and also can't get a gps lock on a clear day. I tried everything from his gps quick fix in tweaks, fix permissions, gps fix apps, etc. I don't get a single lock. I'm on mj7 but maybe I need to reflash the modem? Where did you find the modem? I searched all over.
This sucks as I need the gps!

SAME problem! Super irritating!
I actually found the mj7 modem and reflashed but still get no gps lock whatsoever.
Bump please anyone I can not get a single gps either on stock it was instant please help just flashed the MJ7 modem and did not help the situation thanks.
Currently attempting to install a stock rom on another safestrap partition. I'll try establishing a gps lock on that to see if it can hopefully re-configure the gps.

Has anyone tried changing to their "stock" partition (with stock ROM on it) getting a GPS lock on the stock then going back to a custom ROM on ROM slot 1? This was the fix with the dual boot Note 2 going back in between 2 ROMs.

Currently in the process of doing this. I overwrote my stock rom with hyperdrive to save space, so I'm downloading/installing a stock MJ7 rom in one of the other slots. I'm hoping this works. I will report back findings
---------- Post added at 02:24 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:48 PM ----------
I tested out the stock rom and got GPS lock immediately. Went back to Hyperdrive and still couldn't get a lock after 10 minutes. Popped back over to the stock rom and locked instantly again. Something isn't quite right..
---------- Post added at 02:28 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:24 PM ----------
Unfortunately I also can't post in the android development forums to let the dev know about my findings. If someone could do that and maybe even link to this thread that would be awesome. I've tried everything I could think and has been suggested at this point.
Another update - I installed a fresh flash of hyperdrive on another room slot and booted up to help rule out any application problems and the with the fresh flash gps did not work.
Just posted link in hyper drive thread and tagged developer hopefully we get a response to this issue we are having with gps.

Thank you very much good sir.
Seems like this issue might be being ignored. I'm amazed more aren't having this issue or just aren't using gps. The only difference I can think of is that I upgraded to MJ7 before flashing. I would think if it's not working after a clean flash that the gps issues would be very widespread. Maybe we can draw attention with a bounty. I'm certainly willing to contribute if this gets a fix.

I'm having this problem as well and I didn't upgrade to MJ7 before safestrap and hyperdrive. I found a temporary fix by going to google maps in your application manager and clearing data and cache but after a day of useage, it's back to not locking. Now the fix doesn't seem to be working, at least not from my backyard, i'll try it from the road and report back. Still, we need a real fix for this. I use GPS and google maps all day for work and I really can't deal with a problem like this.
anyone tried using gps status and check the number of satellites that you can possibly connect to (should be something like 0/18)?

I'm trying to figure out why your gps is not locking. I finished flashing cleanrom the other night and gps locked instantly. But it starting to look a problem because it's more than a handful of users with this issue. Did Beans or Sbreen get back to you?
$20 via paypal to the person who can get me up and running again.
GPS is very important for my line of work, and I'm trying not to panic.
I'm on MK2. I've been using stock and SHOstock ROM flawlessly since getting the phone just before Christmas. I've NEVER had any GPS issues. Ever.
I decided to flash the Safestrap version of Hyperdrive on ROM Slot 1, along with MK2 kernel module. Installed fine. I flipped back to STOCK rom(SHOstock), until I had time to mess with the new ROM. On the way home from work, I realized I had no GPS.
Using GPS Tools and GPS Fix apps, no satellites showing at all.
I've done everything I can think of, including using ODIN to flash back to stock MK2. Still no dice.
Can anyone give a guy a hand? I'm currently running stock and have re-rooted using saferoot(the same way I rooted previously).
Thanks in advance!

There used to a method that involved the service menu on the GS3 but I'm not sure if it still applied

Nothing has happened to the phone(no drops/spills/etc). It started right after flashing the new ROM, so I'm fairly certain it has to be related.

Ted, per our extended private message convo on Friday, thanks for giving me a good shove in the right direction!
Dlp22, I have the same problem, did you solve it?
any suggestion!
I had the same problem after upgrading to MK2, almost on the verge of getting rid of GS4 and switching to another device. But for now, I have fixed it by installing Hyperdrive RS13 using Safestrap on Stock slot (did take a backup of the stock slot before wiping it out)...
I tried "every" custom kitkat rom and I never got a satellite fix. It works fine on stock and stock based jelly bean roms. I know that some others have the same issue. I'm on an 802. If you had the same issue and actually solved it please let me know. If you still have the issue, let's find out what we've got in common to find a solution.

Yes, I have. And my carrier shouldn't play a role when it comes to getting a satellite fix. Takk uansett.

I see dozens of satellites immediately but they never lock. Not after waiting for hours unfortunately.
You need to do a nandroid, wipe and install a stock based rom, get a gps lock, and then wipe and restore your backup. That's what I ended up doing (also installed the gps fix zip under stock because I still wasn't getting a lock), and it seems to still be working a few days later.

I had to do the same steps. Worked for me as well.
I waited half a year with starting this thread, hours later, @vertigo uploads a build of omni rom which has the issue fixed. Hooray!
Ok I have looked everywhere and tried many fixes including the AT&T fix (put me into a bootloop) and clean flashes... but nothing is working.
Here are all the steps that i have done.
I have a Bell note 3 that was rooted on JB. I sent it into repair after unrooting (it still said custom but i guess they overlooked that). When i got it back it was running KK official.
I rooted with autoroot and flashed X-note with Civz kernel and the wifi/nfc fix.
Now everything is running great and i still have knox 0x0 (which is good)
EXCEPT my GPS is not connecting. I am using GPS status and it will show that there are satellites to connect to and will take a really long time to connect, then it will drop everything and say that there are no sats to connect to...
I need my GPS and am willing to sponsor a beer+ for a working solution...
And is there anyone out there that has seen the same issue?
Thanks in advance

Try replacing the GPS config with this app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=by.zatta.agps
It worked for me and I'm also using a Bell N800W8. My GPS behaved perfectly while on stock, stock rooted (with custom recovery) and at a point after flashing several roms it broke. Now it requires this app to work. I've also gone back to stock (knox 0x0) and couldn't get a lock.
Obviously it's a software issue I'm just unsure why flashing the stock firmware didn't fix it and a fix is required.
Good luck!

No offence taken
I posted there twice and it got buried within the hour and never got ansered...
Im a volunteer EMT and i rely on my GPS to get to emergencies, i needed a resolution ASAP.
I ended up just flashing vision-x n900w and now the first GPS fix after a reset can take up to a min (but it gets a fix which is an improvement)
But subsequent fixes take only a couple of seconds.... so i guess i have to live with that...
Thanks for the help (and i'm usually good with forums but i had to make an exception this time)
I have the same problem not running xnote or with at&t. I was rooted with xposed. Have tried restoring stock with odin but still doesn't work. I can run a AOSP rom and it works fine so not thinking its a hardware issue. I will start a new thread as this isn't specific to xnote.

A little background. I have a S4 vzw and my Girl has the AT&T NC1 Safestrapped. She's not digging Hyper too much or any other VZW ported and flashable rom on her phone. Honestly i'm looking for ROM suggestions? I was honestly thinking stock modified with xposed to the max, but GPS not working for her i guess is an issue... Your thoughts and opinions would be great

Thanx for that one. popped it on her phone and she's setting it up and shes at least smiling and not punching me. GPS not locking is i guess an issue with a lot of AT&T roms i'm seeing. know of a fix or anything? This ROM looked cool and easy on aroma and considering im on the Loki bootloader this wasnt too hard to figure out.
Also how can 55 people view this and only 1 response? really people? really? dont help no one out or anything with giving your 2 cents or nothing.
The GoldenEye ROM should not have GPS issues on I337. No trouble on mine.
Process I used: I've got NC1 stock system, towelrooted, supersu, safestrap. Boot to safestrap recovery. Do full advanced wipe except SDcard, then flashed rom, supersu, att NC1 modules, then att APN build prop file. GPS works, WIFI works, no trouble installing any apps, it's all good.
We're you at NC1 baseband to start?
I used GPS all day yesterday on a trip... worked great but man it drains battery on the G4!
Are you sure GPS was working when you started the process?
Maybe others will have suggestions for a fix. Sorry!

her phone was the nk2 version until she got outta jail and i upgraded to nb1 and did the whole update thru stock recovery file to make it nc1. she was running stock modded there for a minute everything working great. she wanted flavor and i switched ROMs for her, tried hyper and couldnt get it working right away and then we had issues so i restored her stock backup. gps was showing 2 blocks 30 m away and wouldnt update position in real time. Flashed to hyper, again, and she ran it for a week no issue, except the dialer not working and no mms. Went to GoldenEye and she's ok with it. havent heard much about gps although we walked my dog last night and it was 20 meters off. (hyper on my phone and hers would lock us within 2-6 meters believe it or not). Shes testing it out in the morning though.
O n i pulled the NC1 modules from that toolkit even though its a different size file than the modules floating around.
