Hi,
As the title suggests, i am seeing some unusual battery drain on my Note 3.
I am on Stock non-rooted MJ7 firmware. i have taken some screenshots to give as much info as i can.
As you can see in the last screenshot, I charged the phone up to 64% , and unplugged it at 18:28. and by 20:45 it was down to 44%. thats 20% in two hours, where I only sent a few Viber and text messages

The links not working
Get wakelock detector from Google play that should tell you what is draining the battery
My bad, I updated the links. i have included a Wakelock detector screenshot too.

That sucks man could be a factory reset for you
No need to factory reset. Just reboot your phone, or take out the battery for a while and re-insert, and then reboot.
Should be fine.

I just did that. do you think that would solve the problem ? lets see how it goes.
It's only been a short while but I think it's fixed! 13 out of 20mins deep sleep. And percentage hasn't changed since I pulled the battery. Thanks!

Lets see. I think it is the Android fault. My phone sometimes becomes like that. Just reboot and the problem has gone.
Gone? Not really, just for a couple of hours or next day :-\

Okay..
1. It's a AndroidOS Bug
Don't do a reset or anything like that and waste your time!
Bug comes back after Background Updates from Google.
At the moment is no fix available.
Tausend of users (HTC, Nexus and Samsung...) with Android 4.3 have this issue and trying everything.
Me included
Every day with enabled = Bug is coming
Since I disabled it, if I don't need it and make a restart = Bug free and normal Deepsleep until I enabled it again
My best recommendation is to try it out

I agree with you that it is a Android's bug.
However no need to disable these 2 options. Mine is still activated these 2 options with no problem with deep sleep nor battery.
As I have said, it's a Android's bug and all you need to do is just to reboot the phone if the problem happens.

He suggested you to disable 2 options in the Settings > Location services:
- Access to my location
- Use wireless networks
But IMO no need to disable these options. Just reboot the phone to overcome Android's bug.
Yes reboot help, but with location setting options enabled the Bug comes back fast.
I tried it with disabled location settings and in this time the bug comes not back.
I tested this since Christmas.
I'm not sure this is the problem, but by me works. :-\

I personally enable these 2 options for a long time without any issue with battery.
A bug sometime happens but very rarely. So mainly these 2 options should not be a cause.
Yes of course, I agree.
I have my Note since release in August.
No Bug for minimum 2 Months. All Users have this problem about since December. Google must updated any service in the Background and only in Android 4.3
Gesendet von meinem SM-N9005 mit Tapatalk
before this, i also have this problem. what i do is wipe cache, wipe data in recovery mode and wipe cache again. then you should have amazing battery life.
Many problems, especially after a update can make trouble with battery life, but we talking only over the AndroidOS Bug and the Deepsleep Problem.
Clearing cache, data or factory reset is no solution!!!
Gesendet von meinem SM-N9005 mit Tapatalk
is Google/Samsung aware of this issue? Sure, it pops up when you Google.. But it would be great if there was an official statement of the companies being aware of the problem. Just think of the number of people that dont even know about WLD/BBS and complain about their battery being crap when its the Android OS bug? Seriously, this battery business is just killing my experience with android.

well the time is less important than what are you doing.
Try disabling some stuff you don't need.
You mean clearing the ram and ending running programs or uninstalling the apps? I have s-health running on the background and a couple of others like widgets. But my note 2 i think last longer.
Will try to complete drain the battery and charge it to 100%. Perhaps it needs to be calibrated.

Try disabling in settings> device> motions and gestures.
Brightness is set to manual. Mostly at 25-50% level. Do i need to disable those? It came from factory enabled so it should not cause this poor battery performance. Only 5hrs screen on time.

You don't need to disable Facebook. I use the Facebook app all the time and can get over 7 hours SOT on a regular basis.
Try clearing the cache and do a Factory reset. When you're doing the phone set up make sure you opt out of all diagnostic reporting to Google and Samsung. That should fix your issue. Also have you installed the recent update Tmobile pushed out yesterday?

Because your phone will still use cellular data, even when you are on wifi, just try it for a day and see if it improves, it not you can go back to how you are doing now.

How do you have youre phone set up?
So I think I found a way to actually feel some slow down on my phone. Have an uptime of 4 weeks straight, no restarts, no drained battery. [emoji23] After a quick 20 second restart, it's back to normal. I think I usually get the monthly updates around that length of time anyway. So it's hard to go past 30ish days unless you skip one for a while.

Heh I never make it passed the latest Flash Kernel update.
I restart at least once, if not twice a day
Mostly because of changing substratum themes and a little bit because of OCD lol
I've gotten like 2 or 3 months before on 6p running pure Nexus... I think.
Once every few days because of Adaway or Kernel Updates. With my 6p before you had to restart once every 60 Seconds because this piece of junk was unusable otherwise performance wise.

Eh, i would like to see when system will go down, because of memory leakes or similar. It's really stable, only camera is now pure gamble - i never know if picture will be ok or not (see attachment). Trying to find a better keyboard app for my phone, I'm not impressed by mine. Please show your keyboard and explain which keyboard app you're using (or launcher/theme). Just a screen shot of the letters is fine.
EDIT: I have the T-mobile SM-N960U, thus it currently CANNOT be rooted (from what I've read). Please keep your suggestions to those that do not require root. Thanks!
Absolutely love "Venom Theme" (Available in Xda labs) still the Samsung Keyboard but works just fine for me :good:
I am using stock keyboard.
The only thing I don't like about it is that spelling works only for one language at a time.
For instance Swype checked spelling and suggested corrections in two languages (my local and English).
With Samsung I need to switch between languages. It's not hard (swype space bar).. but still a little inconvenient.
Nothing has worked better for me than SwiftKey since I started using it back when Android was still Eclair and had a Samsung Moment.
Even the Beta is solid.
I've tried a couple but always come back to SwiftKey.

Thanks. I'm going to edit the OP in a moment. Basically, I have the Tmo SM-N960U (512 GB Blue ed). It currently cannot be rooted. Is root required for this install?

Google BlackBerry Manager by Cobalt and install it. Then download the BlackBerry keyboard and make it active

If you use a samsung device you should enable it going throuh settings>general management>language and input>on screen keyboard and select xperia keyboard.
If you are using another brand that could be in a different section in the settings

SwiftKey for me. All day, everyday. I've tried Gboard, but for me SwiftKey is faster and more accurate and I like the options that SK offers.
Hey everyone , bought my redmi note 7 a couple of days ago and the first huge difference i see when compared to my note 4 is that the battery drains so much faster in idle\standby , i've disabled all of battery consuming options i've found searching the web but the issue still persists , is it the new update , is my phone faulty?

If you are using stock MIUI, there are lots of hidden things consuming battery and quite several options you have to go through to disable the stuff.
You may try Greenify or Better Battery Stats and the likes to check for what's been running in background. You may have to root though.

Yeah , i'm using stock mui , my SOT is around 7-8 hours but the battery drains as fast when it's on standby\idle , i've disabled all i can and the problem still persists , i mean if i can't solve it without rooting i'd be awesome cause i don't want to lose the warranty on this brand new phone but if it comes to that i guess i'll have no choice , is this a bug or is it intended like this? Cause my note 4 didn't drain at all while idle.
Bumping this as it's getting really annoying that a brand new phone can't last a whole day on idle , should i just return the phone?

Is your phone entering deep sleep? You can check it in the battery stats.
What i can tell you is that overnight i only lose 1% or 2% max of battery in 8 hours .
This IS the services Google play fault. Wait for next update, should be fixed

got the same issue when i got mine, i noticed a very big difference when compared to my redmi s2. Well, installing a custom rom was a way to go for me (pixel experience and cd droid) were the once i used to be exact, both them run quite well. my SOT is about 7-12 hours depends on usage.

Version 18.3.82 introduced a bug that drains the battery. I don't believe .85 fixed.
You can revert back to 17.x or try the beta 19.0.56

65%? You reached the point where i would make a factory reset and test the phone without installing apps.

That's weird because i did a factory reset yesterday for this exact same reason , gonna do another one and reply back tomorrow with no apps installed.
Edit: Just did a factory reset and the battery dropped 3% while first time startup was finishing up lol , something tells me that the phone is faulty at this point.
