I would really like to root my Sprint Lg G2 but have some concerns about going back to stock if need be.
I have read the instructions several times and have read various pages on the thread Go Back To Stock in this section. However, I have seen several different issues arise from completely no success to the 49% issue. And since the thread is for all carriers it's hard to follow how other Sprint users have made out.
My question is if you have Sprint and have tried this how has it worked out for you?

I'm receiving my new VZW G2 tomorrow. Just was wondering what the best root/ unlock method to use is? Any ROM suggestions. Any help would be appreciated. I apologize in advance if this is the wrong section.

You may want to look in this section "G2 Android Development (Verizon)"
You should be able to find everything you need there.

There is no bootloader unlock, but we have the loki exploit. This is a workaround that circumvents the need to unlock the bootloader to install ROMs, etc. So with that out of the way, to root you'd want to use this thread.

Check out the development section for the Verizon G2. It should have you covered. CyanogenMod/AOSP-based ROMs are still unstable as of yet, but Verizon progress is arriving quick. If I were you, I'd wait until they do a beta release and perhaps have support for double-tap to wake.
All other ROMs are based off stock. They are a huge improvement over your factory ROM, removing bloatware and such. I like CleanROM for the AT&T variant, but have found that for straight-up features and de-bloat on Verizon, Malladus is quite nice and wins my recommendation. It also has the fix for Mobile Hotspot not reporting to Verizon baked in, as well as a smaller nav bar. I highly recommend using the mods in that thread to get the Recents key on your navigation bar instead of menu. Much more useful.

It is the wrong section! The first post, a sticky, in this forum reads: This device has its own Q&A Forum... Please use it. Questions do not go in GENERAL.
It's okay though, your thread will hopefully be moved. I still answered your question. Just know that some people will be bothered by the clutter we've created

Oh boy, are you in for a treat. I came from the Galaxy Nexus as well. Couldn't be happier with the battery life, among everything else.

Thanks for all the great info! Greatly appreciated! I'm pretty familiar with Loki. I had the s4 for a short stint.
Can't wait for the G2!

I came from a GNex as well. I've had my G2 for about 2 weeks now and I'm in love and still finding out little things about it. The rear buttons will take some time to get used to and are styled differently than the other variants. I like the others better but you'll get the hang of it.
I flashed Malladus 1.1.3 last night and it's a huge improvement over stock. It's debloated (there is a ton of bloat on this thing) and doesn't have any negative effects on battery life. One tip I can offer is instead of following the directions to install TWRP, download the free app called Flashify and flash the recovery image. It took two seconds and worked like a charm.

Please do not use Flashify, and please do not recommend Flashify. There is a chance that it will ruin your boot partition, putting your phone into a bootloop that can only be fixed by flashing back to stock. Take the few seconds needed to run the proper adb commands in this thread.
Option 2 is easy and safe. Please use it as opposed to Flashify. The devs on Freenode #lg-g2 have had to help a LOT of people who got screwed over by that app, and therefore removed it from that thread. Please proceed with caution.

Thanks for the heads up. I generally use an adb method opposed to the one click methods. Thanks for all the community support, this why XDA is the best.

This is actually the easiest device I've ever rooted and installed custom recovery. Probably because there was no need to unlock bootloader.
It was quite breeze. I just hope the development for the VZW version picks up.I'm sure it will soon!

I am not sure exactly when this phone was released for ATT USA. I am guessing it was not long ago, judging by the forums.
My wishlist item is a Stock D800 based, deodexed rom. (vs the D802 based)
4 Way Reboot.
Tethering enabled.
Anyone else feel the same way? If I were a dev, I would do this myself and share it, but I am not. And even if it didn't come with the 4way reboot and tethering enabled, there are other solutions for these.
Thanks.
Hmm all that's available with clean room xe except the base

Right. I'd prefer to stay on the D800 base. I had a previous issue because I installed a TWRP version that changed the kernel to a d802. Was fine until I got into a problem with the phone and wanted to return to stock....that wouldn't work because the phone was reporting both D800 and D80210 or whatever and would then report incorrect version and abort. Never got it fixed and eventually bricked the phone trying. Fortunately it bricked so bad and was only my third day with it....the store replaced it for me. Don't want to repeat
I honor your wishes and wants, but do you realize that you are in dev forum? You can post your wants in general section.

My apologies for the incorrect section. I will be expecting an email from a moderator that they have moved it. I will be more careful in the future.
Thanks
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2483043 but it is D802 build. It won't report as D802 since the build prop has all the D800 entries. Has everything you are looking for.
Or
You can download the full stock ROM and deodex it yourself and what options you want. You don't need to a be dev to do that, just a hacker or moder.
My wishlist is a million bucks...wanna help with that

I am probably just being paranoid about the D802 thing and my problem most likely happened due to me using the twrp install that changes the kernel to a D802 kernel. I no longer not nor ever will touch that one again
As to the $Million, I probably have a better chance of deodexing myself than that happening.
so cant really find anything that helps the answer I am looking for
Sprint updated my phone to mf9 than I rooted it
now I am thinking I want to go back to stock mf9 and clean the counter
I know I need to use triangle away and read that once you use it stop the reboot and load stock mf9 and it will make it look like everything is stock and wouldnt have tripped the counter
is this true?
I used odin to root it but other than the hotspot mod I dont really need it rooted
1) This goes in the Q&A forum.
2) There are tons of guides available on how to do this. Search is your friend.

Questions and help issues go in Q&A and Help section
Thread moved
FNM
got it done 2 hours later and no brick
I just rooted my AT&T galaxy S4 mk2 build and now i cant find a recovery for it anywhere. Do i just need to wait or is there something already out??Please help i haven't rooted a phone in 3 years and i'm just now getting back into it.
Go into the development section and get Safestrap. That's the only thing you can use, no true custom recovery. Make sure you read through the first pages of the thread and maybe some of the Q/A thread before doing anything.

Welcome to XDA.
Please keep in mind that this community is absolutely hammered by folks asking the same basic questions over and over and over again. It drives us nuts.
You get a one-time pass for being new.
But in the future, please use the search function for questions that you think have probably already been asked.
Forgive me if my post is in the wrong section. I'm wanting to be able to use keimdall instead of Odin to go back to stock and am stuck at creating the firmware.xml. I have never done anything like this before, and I obviously don't want to brick the device. I am completely lost at the id's. Where can I read up on this or has someone already made a package that I'm just not seeing?
Sent from my SM-G900V using XDA Free mobile app
Theres more to it than the package, as far as i knos it wont flash at all even with that, theres a couple pulls you can rebuild it with that supposedly work but i havent gotten to testing them yet, I have a thread kinda about this already actually if you want to check that. Also you were incorrect about the section, you've posted in general but this would more appropriately fit in the q & a section, no worry though.
