Hi to all, please could someone explain me how to get gram working with custom kernel?
Is it possible?
Which files we need?
Big thanks

it's supposedly full hardware, so no integration software's needed, but cannot confirm it.

Now it would realy interessting, if we have to activate this feature with kernel.
But how?
There are no technical documents about with device, driver etc?
What we have to change inside kernel source code?

I don't know if it's a kernel feature, but you can check to see if it's active on your device with dumpsys. I did it in terminal:
su
dumpsys SurfaceFlinger
Look for Qualcomm HWC State section. If you see DisplayPanel=9, your device is using GRAM or self panel refresh.
Edit: I'm using PAEK v5.2, and it's DisplayPanel=9. I won't be surprised if it's this way on every G2 kernel.
I think is on, because i see some screen With 11 hrs screen on time
Sent from my LG-d801 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
But not with Cm11!
I only get 4 hours screen on!
But big thanks for this info!
Qualcomm HWC state:
MDPVersion=500
DisplayPanel=9
HWC Map for Dpy: "PRIMARY"
Great!
But why i get with stock near 9 hours display on and with cm11 only 4??

AOSP by jarjar124 has a really nice clear all apps button to remove apps from the multitasking list. Could someone make a similar mod for stock 4.3 JWR66V? Thanks.
I second this. Thanks in advance guys!!!

This would be cool. I really like the clear all in the recents button that PA has implemented too.

This xposed module has an option for that. It's worth trying: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2318311

I've been asking a lot of dev's for a guide to do this..no one seems to care though..i could find the sources in git but i have a slow internet so i cant download the source for compiling a single apk
I'm going on a sixteen hours journey, hoping to pass the time with my Nexus 4.... Playing games(Asphalt 8), watching a movie & listening to my music.
So what do you guys recommend as the best battery saving app? Plus I need a video player that can dim the screen brightness more than MX player, since it's a night time journey, I don't need that much brightness at all.
Thanks in advance guys!

dont use an app for that... underclock and undervolt, turn everything off that you dont need and dimm your screen... you propably wont make it anyway for this long... apps use energy, they dont save it...

In my experience the best battery saver is the airplane mode. Disconnecting antennas you save a lot of battery.
My two cents.
Agree with both of these posts ^^^

Juice defender been helping me extend my battery for years..works great.
Get Mobo player ... Best video player hands down..plays any format.
I bought juice pack from monoprice.com for those long flights..

Get lux to dim the screen. I would just buy a cheap portable battery.

What's good for underclocking? I personaly tried 4 different apps, and underclocking just works for like half'n hour, then the max clock goes back to 1.5GHz. Looks like it doesn't matter which app I use.
These are the apps I tried so far:
Trickster MOD Kernel Settings
System Tuner Pro
franko.Kernel updater
No-frills CPU Control
BatteryGuru from Qualcomm, and of course a power bank!
Battery saver type applications only work by disabling services well the phone is sleeping, so the more the phone sleeps the more good they do, Qualcomm Battery Guru disables synching or changes synch schedules, Juice Defender does similar plus adds disabling mobile data except at certain synch time intervals, none of them will do anything to make your battery last all say, especially if you are using the phone.
Best bet, really your only bet, to get 16 hours of use is an external power source of some kind.
Get a power bank like mentioned. Amazon has hassle less returns if you do not "like"

There is no best so, but common sense. Just manually turn off things you don't need or use the phone less or by a tablet and do the videos and gaming on it instead. Portable battery charger works too.

You're going to need an external battery if you want to watch a video for any more time than a few hours.

Why others get 8h of ScreenOn Time and I only 6 to 7h on a normal use day? My batt now has 5 loading circles.

"Only" 6 - 7 hours is not bad at all, I'd say.

Post your screenshots of your battery logs, and see if we can figure it out. I'm in the same situation and complained just in another thread because I see some people with 28+ hours of usage when I got 14 hours of usage max from mine.

Your battery stats are normal. 16 hours which includes almost 7 hours screen time is nothing to scoff at.
If you want pull a bit more disable eye-tracking features and uninstall Facebook (which is notoriously known as a major battery hog, not sure if they improved the battery drain, but you can Google facebook+app+battery and read the slew of complains about the app), that is of course if you're willing to take such measures just for extra battery life.

Your stats look good (albeit not as good as some of the other threads). 7 hours of screen time is pretty great though and I haven't been able to get that and I don't even use Facebook

Check out my stats. As you can see, it's HORRIBLE compared to what you guys are getting. I've also attached my BBS logs. Help guys, what's wrong? I have a 64gb SD card that I am using, but I have already formatted it using this phone, and then loaded about 10gb worth of videos on it. Could that be the cause of the problem?

You have some serious wakelocks. By the looks of it, I'm almost 100% they are network related wakelocks...
Things you could try:
Go to settings > more settings > Network operators. Change the operator to something else a couple of times (you shouldn't be able to) and then choose automatic it will choose the correct operator again.
You can try switching to GSM only for a while ( Settings > More settings > Mobile networks > Network mode). See if the drain stops while being on GSM only.
If you are rooted, search for "fast dormancy toggle" by gokhanmoral from you Google play store and turn off fast dormancy. There are some situations where if FD is enabled and your carrier does not support it, you will keep getting wakelocks.
Power off the phone. Remove the sim card, power on the phone without the sim for five minutes. Clean the chip on the sim with a dry cloth. Power off the phone, insert the sim and power it on again.

Battery Question
BUMP..
I get about 4 hrs of screen time on a full charge. My usage is browsing and whatsapp mostly. Plus around 35-45 mins of some games. Ill say heavy ones (nfsmw, dark knight etc). my network is usually around the 70-80% mark and almost never full..
Whatsapp is the most used app of course. I spend 2-2.5 hrs doing that i suppose on this.
I dont use wifi and depend on a weak 3g signal for all this.
Is this performance normal??
I get poor battery life because my Note 3 Keep turning on in my pocket that is what I hate the most from switching my Nexus 4
Envoyé de mon SM-N900W8 en utilisant Tapatalk
Look at the screenshot, for some reason, the battery usage I dicates that I've been using Wi-Fi but I have it disabled. Also, it says my device isn't awake in the usage...
My battery seems to drain much too when nothing is running and I have every feature disabled such as sync and gestures...
Please give me feedback/solutions about this and share to me what you think, thanks!
Have you tried turning it off and on again? Stupid thing but you never know.

I second that cobra, FH3.1 with ausdim v11 straight out a the box. I've tried tweaking it but it usually ends up either unstable or less battery life, so I stick with the default settings

Mod Edit
"Best" ROM/kernel/battery threads are not allowed on XDA.
Please test these things for yourself.
This is the only way you will get an unbiased opinion, and then, you can decide for yourself if it meets YOUR needs.
Besides which ,you have one of the few phones with a removable battery.
Get a spare one,and use the phone as much as you like without worrying about it.
