I've been reading and I'm unsure if LG G2 can be successfully un-rooted for warranty purposes.
I found this link: http://theunlockr.com/2013/11/01/unroot-lg-g2-versions-video/
Even there, some commenters say that it didn't work.
The G2 rooting thead is a bit divided, some folks say that once the root checker is tripped it can't be reset, others it can.
So I'm asking for some clarification and experiences.
Thanks!
*Bump*

There's already a guide on how to unroot your phone on here.

Edit:
I just realized the links aren't in that thread anymore. You can find almost exactly the same thread over at AndroidForums.

Sorry, but that is bad advice right there.
It's OK if people want to roll back to a factory configuration, but there is simply no good reason to over-write a 1.47 (or 1.49 S-OFF) bootloader with a bootloader that will possibly prevent root forever in order to do that.
Keep your options open, even if you want a "factory" phone.
Once again, there is nothing "new" about the so-called "official RUU" - it is THE SAME THING AS LEAK-V3.

meh... it's exactly what he asked. my guess is it's "going back to the store."
perhaps you should clarify for him then... as in your post, the bolded red text may lead him to install leak 3. better advice?
oh well... to each their own.
edit: had options been asked for, then those would have been presented.
in any case... so i'm out

If you want a plain phone then just go with JCase's "Plain Jane" Rom, if you really want to lose root for some reason then I guess you could flash the new 2.1 RUU but I'm not entirely sure why you would want to lose root though. Then again I'm not you and that's not my phone so good luck in whatever decision you decide
I just did the long and somewhat confusing process of unrooting. The reason I asked was to find a simple way to unroot because my trackball broke and I needed to use my warranty. It worked and I am already back with root on my "like-new" Droid Eris again!
This topic should be a sticky. For those whom want their facory warranty back for the sake of obtaining replacement phone. [STICKY]"How To Unroot Your Eris". This would be exelent. Note to moderator, this would be much appreciated.
I'm just wondering if i have rooted my SGS, is there a way to unroot it?if yes, could anyone please let me know how to do it.
Many thanks to all.!!!
seems like no one can help me..?!
I figure reflashing the stock firmware would do the trick.
The JF3 firmware was just posted on samsung-firmware.webs.com so people can return their phones to stock.
But did you try resetting to factory settings? That might work too but I'm not sure.
thanks for your help... anyway, i haven't rooted my SGS yet... cos i want to know can i change back to the stock firmware 1st before doing it.
Cheers buddy.

No, resetting to factory condition does not undo rooting. I just found out.
To unroot, seems like we have to download something called Odin3, so something like that , and I got the impression this might be carrier specific. I'm now looking for one for Optus Australia, but don't know where to get it.
See this llimk for rooting and unrooting procedures

There is an easier way ti root under the development forum, so it's post number on unrooting which interests me more.
Hello everyone,
I just got me new AT&T S4 today, connected to wifi, and update installed on my phone. So now I'm on 4.3 mk2. Is there a way that I can still root, install cwm, and so forth? I tried factory reset and still ended on the same 4.3 mk2.
Thanks in advance, and I can't wait for root, root, root. Otherwise this phone will be for sale. Sad

There's already an answer to this question. I don't want to come off as rude but you need to search first. The answer is root is attainable but not through any means here on XDA. also no CWM and so forth on MK2.
That was nicer than I could have said it.

Thanks for the reply. I wasn't aware of that there was an answer. I just saw people posting updates and so forth. But I will keep in mind to do that. Thanks!
Hello!
I am new to this and I rooted my phone to 4.3. There is now an update for 4.4.2 and I want to update to it. I have tried uninstalling my root and apparently, I still can't update to 4.4.2. How do I completely uninstall the root so I can go to 4.4.2. I have even tried factory resetting my phone.
Thanks!

If you rooted you shouldn't be new to this. Return to stock. See the general forum and look for the mk2 tar files.

What do I do when I find the MK2 tar files? I used an easy way to root my phone and I don't know how to completely unroot it. How do I return to stock?
Search for how to return to stock using Odin

so obviously you're a very experienced user on this site. I just wanted to know what is the point of your comment? Do you think that the op will suddenly know what to do because you told him that he should know it?

My Galaxy S4 was rooted and I got and installed Kit Kat 4.4.2 yesterday with No Problem. Some roots maybe different. I did not have CWM installed.

Here's the point:
You don't buy/get a high end phone and just take the quick way to doing everything. I have seen dozens and dozens of folks get into trouble that way. I spent a month just reviewing how to root my Nexus One before I even got it. That may have been overkill but was awaiting back surgery and wanted something to do while recuperating. You need to take the time to learn not only what to do, but why you are doing it. If not, you guys see the consequences. XDA asks that you search before asking questions and this one has been addressed numerous times. By the question itself, you know whether the OP made any attempt at all to look for answers or just wants spoon fed.
That said, we all feel bad when someone messes up their phone and if asked properly they will get help. Just reminded that they need to research some before asking or jumping into something. I know it is water under the bridge at this time, just FYI--
Do hope you all get it sorted. Also, it can get confusing when others hijack the OP's thread. I see that a lot too. Makes it hard to follow and give correct answers to the OP.
BTW, if you unroot and update, you are not re-rooting at this time--
Good Luck on it--:good:
Nothing meant personal here, just trying to get some advice out that can take time to get on your own--
Hello all, I did a quick search and did not find an answer, so I apologize if this was asked already. This is sort of a 2 part question.
First, I wanted to try out the official 4.4 on my D801 so I used THIS file to update without loosing root access. The only loss is it takes away your TWRP. Is there anyway I can get a recovery installed so I can switch between stock and custom? That would be awesome.
If its not possible, is there a way for me to downgrade so I can use ROM's again? I know its easy with a .kdz on a PC, but unfortunately (I really mean it, this sucks) I have a mac.
I really appreciate any help!
Thank you!
